I actually owned both of these. I had the K5 GT, which comes with the chrome quad exhaust and the 290 hp turbo 4 cylinder. I just bought the accourd touring 2 days ago. I want to point out that the gentleman in this video incorrectly states that the GT line (which is a trim level below the GT) comes with 290 hp. It doesn't. It also doesnt come with the quad exhaust, rather the fake exhaust tips you see on every other kia teim except the GT. The car he is visually reviewing is the GT, which also btw does not come in awd, to me only 1 of 2 drawbacks to the GT model. The second being that if you have it in sport plus mode, you WILL spin your front wheels if you give basically any gas. Overall, loved thebcar, was fun as hell to drive (GT), and the interior with the camel color was amazing, although the seats hadba defect in it ansld lost support randomly in the lumbar sometimes.
Gotna new job which requires a ton of traveling, so i opted, relunctantly, to part ways with the GT and traded for the accord touring hybrid. While it lacks the punch and pizzaz of the GT, it is smooooooth. Clearly it wont win in a drag race, but i dont need it to. The sound system in the touring accord is better, comes with ventilated seats, rear heated seats, and a heads up display, something the GT does not have.
All in all, inwould say the Accord gets the edge in tech, cabin features, and gas mileage, whereas the GTbis just plain fun to drive. Cant go wrong with either.
Sorry for the long post, but i felt compelled seeing ive owned a 2023 model of both top of the line models.

I say they're about even in the features department. While you don't get a hud or digital gauge cluster in the k5, you get a panoramic moonroof, power-folding side view mirrors, heated steering wheel and better driver's assistance functions. When I comes to sound systems, I'm wondering if you had the base system in the GT and not the GT1 package. I find both Bose systems to be equally underwhelming but at that point I'm just splitting hairs. ( Although I do think the K5 has superior speaker locations though)

It looks to me like the K5 was designed and thought about it instead of just put/take out things on/from it, you gotta remember that this is a sucesor of the optima which had that chrome thing in the C pillar as well, this time was just better designed and integrated, aside from its weaknesses in certain details, the Kia seems to me like a designed car, I look at it and I don’t think it was over styled in purpose but more like if they actually wanted it to look like that, I’m the other hand Honda had a beautiful Accord that they could’ve improved and they just took the best parts from it, it’s the K5 for me.

  • @dud5606

Kia for sure. It actually looks like the designer was confident in his work and made something that stands out. This is some big fat bullcrap, though. Our vehicles damage the environment, and we get taxed out the butthole for them doing that but corporations do the most damage and they don’t pay hardly anything for the damage they’re causing!! And then we get taxed out the butthole again for damages that their corporate vehicles do to our roads and to our freaking citizens!! Have you seen what their semi-trucks have done to some places? There isn't a sedan under $53K that looks better than the Stinger. K5 has a lot of carry over especially in the silhouette (though it's longer). Kia know what they're doing with sedans so far. Shame the Stinger is leaving us but hopefully the EV5 will be close on its tail. The Forte is also one of if not the last in the class due for a full redesign sometime very soon and I hope they blow our minds with the possibilities. The entire class looks pretty lack luster today despite all of them being brand new or less than 2 years old.

In South Africa Kia is like the LG and Hyundais are Samsung, bad analogy, but Kia makes some really good looking cars but sadly they are not as heavily invested as Hyundai, especially here in our shores. In fact they have pulled out some of their models that I think would be great (example: we don't get those excellent Kia Stingers anymore and they are planning on pulling out their Kia Rio models later this year, 2023...). Similarly LG, as opposed to Samsung is dead and gone... Maybe that's not yet the case for Kia, but here in South Africa it is starting to feel that way. But the current K5 (I think we had it here under the moniker Kia Optima) is something that I think would make the German carmakers shaking in their boots, because it looks good and it has the performance to boot.

Let me remind you Honda removed the 2.0T, that was the one accord engine that didn't have issues, they now use the problematic CVT 1.5T on all trims, the Kia's automatic 2.5T will hold up better, honda has always had issues with the 1.5T, kia hasn't had any issues out of the 2.5T because it's new for Kia lineup.. so Kia>

Hondas 1.5 l turbo is a ticking time bomb. They use WEAK HEAD BOLTS, that stretch, allowing the head to start lifting causing head gasket failures. Seems to happen at about 45.000 to 60.000 miles. Google it. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon.

I’m definitely looking forward to what they do with this car in the near future considering the Kia Stinger is being discontinued, and hopefully implement some features they put in their Canadian model over to the American one.

I test drove a k5 with a friend right after I bought my 2024 accord they are crappy…… horrible build quality and driving experience compared to the accord. Not to mention the gage cluster in the k5 looks like a 2018 Kia Rio gage cluster unless you get a high end model.

Honda is going the wrong direction. Making cars bigger doesn't translate to better fuel economy. The change in engine and retaining the size of the car translates to higher efficiency. If you want it bigger, opt to a CUV or SUV but most of the time, people who buy cars like this Accord don't use the second row seats. Plus, Honda could have designed this better. It's totally bland, generic or basic looking. I'll take the Nissan Altima with VC turbo engine anytime. You'll definitely get more for your money.

I respectfully disagree with your styling analysis. Yes, the Honda does have a more harmonious look and a cleaner design, but it is BORING! I was stunned when I first saw it and I think Honda has dropped the ball with this, the HRV and others in their line. This was a non-starter for me as I recently purchased a K5 GT Line AWD (which, like you, I need for our local climate). The other decider was the 8SP automatic vs. the droan of a CVT. The value proposition and sporty agressive look made this an easy choice. Look at the comparison photo to displayed. The honda screams 90's Buick while the KIA says "let's go!"

you (and perhaps only you) like the "classic" bland look......... if you hide the badge of these cars and show them to the public, 95% would chose the K5, because the Accord looks DULL, BORING, and not like 2023 car AT ALL. the K5 is doing a better uplift this October, and the Accord will look even more outdated..... Hondas are good cars, BUT (a big but) they are inexistent in Europe (the most competitive car market of the world)
