The city is a great car...but not really up to what is expected from D segment sedans like the civic... platform wise- especially in the US and Canada where some by roads are larger than higways in Asian cities . With a bigger engine and some type R suspension tuning, it will be a hoot to drive but will fall flat in terms of highway ride which is what most Americans end up doing. The city as the namesake suggest was and is a sedan meant to be used in a properly crowded Asian city and not on north american highways.
Nice review. I had an ‘05 Civic Si, my 2nd favorite car I’ve owned after my current ND1 Miata. The new Si is one of the cars I’m considering for its replacement, along with the new GR86 or BRZ. But I might just wait to see the production version of the new Integra. I know many people hate it, but the Si drivetrain in a 4-door hatch - and an even nicer interior, plus likely getting the amenities we should have gotten on the US Si - really appeals to me. I’m also considering the Civic Sport Touring hatch w/6-speed manual, but really want the additional power of the Si. Can’t wait to drive all of these and see which I like best!
I just went from the 05 Si to the new Sport. It’s great in many ways but power is lacking. I really miss my Si and wish I’d have got the new Si. I opted for the hatch because I put bikes inside. However after putting on a hitch on with a rack the hatch is less important.

@@jasonwheeler8996 got one last feb. thing is QUICK for what it is. fun car to drive for sure
@@jasonwheeler8996 I'd be all over that AWD turbo if it was in manual. They're better looking in person than I anticipated.
Test drove a black awd turbo hatch with red interior 😍😍 hoping to get one this summer. That and the soul red exterior are my top choices.
The focus st can be pretty reliable though. I had one and never had a single problem with it
8th gen civic Si is still the best si ever made but I'm loving that 11gen Si
5th gen 😔
Miss my fg2. Got rear ended😭
I'm keeping mine till the wheels fall off.
I was super excited about this car. I live in Northern New England... Yeah heated seats are important. WTF
Get a 330i and call it a day
The opening description of this video sold me on this car
In 2017 the 10th gen Honda Civic Si’s msrp was only $24k USD.
In 2023 the 11th gen Honda Civic Si’s msrp is now $27k USD.
In Canada, their 11th gen with better tech costs effectively $26k USD when adjusted for exchange rate.
2023 Acura Integra Manual costs $35k usd
Just imagine taking this in a time machine back to the 90s and showing a civic owner this civic.
When I bought a new 2006 Honda Accord, the 2006 Honda Civic was small and the base model did not come with an air conditioner as standard. It was an option. Now the Civics are so nice and I don’t like the way the Accords look
What was the point of that?
Basically what I learned from this is I want a Canadian Si...

It’s crazy how much less stuff we get in the USA. I was really looking forward to buying one. I guess I will have to wait a few years until Honda gives the Si all the options.
Or just buy Canadian 🤔
@@metintin if you bought one in Canada and brought it to the US would you have to change out the gauge cluster since they use KPH and the US uses MPH?
@@bustysubwaysandy9644 No, you should be able to change that with the same one
@@bustysubwaysandy9644 non you can just change it in the screen's options from kmh to mph if you want to.
@@bustysubwaysandy9644 that's a great question. Considering the gauge cluster is fully digital on the Canadian SI, I'm assuming you can switch between MPH and KPH in the settings. I'll have to check and see (I own the American 22 Civic Touring). If this is the case then perhaps I bought my car too soon 😅
Ok I just found this account, but it’s giving me OG top gear vibes and I’m loving it
You guys are my favorite RUclips couple! Thank you for the awesome car reviews!
Immediately earned the thumbs up with that intro
10:21 this is kind of why I think the honda city needs to make it way to the states, along with an Si version.
Unfortunately our countrymen have killed the small car in America.
The Fit already died in North America. The City would be a flop unfortunately.
Me who lives in Michigan: "I am some what of a Canadian myself you know."
That Intro is GOLDEN!!!
Can we just appreciate how clean James's jacket looks.
I love throttle house videos❤️
I always get excited when I get a notification 😜
Sonic gray is the color of the air when a jet is at supersonic speeds (when it's traveling faster than the speed of sound).
It is the colour (color) of the air around a jet at those speeds.
I just bought mine yesterday and I’m super stoked! It’s fun, practical, easy to live with and not that expensive.
I love the fact that you put out all the information (also) in metric units
I like that the Si is still only available with a manual 👍
It's still a good car in the US, but because of how Honda has de-contented our version, I will not buy it.
Just buy one in Canada drive it over our money isn’t worth dick compared to yours too so
I think this could be the perfect 4 door family sedan/daily driver. Nice job Honda!
Jetta GLI , kia forte and mazda 3 direct competitors ! Love it .
I literally never see anyone driving their family around in an si.
Seeing you pass Whitey's farm at that 90 degree bend brings back so many memories.
As a Minnesotan, I'm crushed they're taking away the heated seats this gen. Thanks for the review!
Thank you for calling out the differences between the Canadian and US-spec versions. It's such BS the States don't get this. It could be sold here as an Si Touring or something and it would still sell well.
Honda’s probably saving all the extra goodies for the new integra for the US. Might be trying to sell the “luxury” features on the luxury car
Exactly! Why would a manufacturer even make them different? We can't get options any more, so why not make all models destined to all countries the same? Wouldn't that help cut down on cost also?
Interesting you guys mentioned the Accord, as during your critique section I noticed how much the exterior actually reminded me of the early 90s Accords but in a almost retro-restyle guise. At least Honda came down from the last model's arguably gaudy styling.
They way overcompansated for the gaudiness of the last model. This new civic looks lame
Too bad the interior luxuries have been neutered so in the US model. As someone from Wisconsin, heated seats and steering wheel are a must.
or you can just warm your car up . . .
@@xL0stKIlah stop settling for mediocrity

The SP is so boring these days.
I own a 2009 Honda Civic SI coupe in Orange Pearl, and although I believe the new car cannot beat my engine that rev to 8,200 RPM, I do believe the new SI is better looking both inside and out.
Damn the Candian Si is lovely with heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, full digital gauge cluster and that CRAZY sport gauge setting is the biggest change of all, don't forget shift lights.
I’d still prefer an 8th gen si over any other generation. I’ve owned both an 8th gen si and a 10th gen si. The 10th gen being newer was “nicer” as far as what it came with but I love the vtec and the “raw” driving experience of the 8th gen. The newer gen si’s are “better” cars but the 8th gen is a better si if that makes sense.
@@ZFA1738 I own one so I guess it does make sense.
Only good thing about the 8th Si is the k20z3 engine. The interior was awful, the transmission had issues and it didn’t have enough torque for 3000 pound car.
@@agaad22 honestly yeah when people talk about their love for the 8th gen all they can talk about is the engine
@@agaad22 I've had zero issues with my transmission and my car has 189,000 mi on it, I just drove a 2013 FRS with only 94,000, mi and the interior was falling apart, the shifter was not as precise as my civic SI. The interior was not as nice as my Civic SI. I was so happy to be back into my car.
Just rewatched this. The "phfffffffisical" volume knob totally cracks me up! Just ordered one yesterday. Hope to see it before summer starts. :)
Took an Acura to the track, and yet they test drove an SI on a back road in winter. They also gave more details about features than the actual driving experience. Thanks.
I’ve had mine for a couple weeks now. I drove it from Ottawa to Ajax on hwy 7 and averaged 5.1L/100k lol
How much time it takes you to get yours from the moment you order it ? Just ordered mine yesterday (in Gatineau) they told me it would take anywhere between 1 to 6 months I’m so hyped for it, can’t wait!!
That kind of fuel economy without a hybrid set up makes me want it even more since I go from Ottawa to Toronto pretty often as well.
With that intro you guys have officially surpassed everyone else.
Just imagine how good this car could be with a proper engine. Just makes me want to keep my 8th gen even more. I love the interior though.
So a... Type R?
@Craig Chevalier The 11th has gobs more torque that is much better suited for daily driving.
@@steve8803 revving to 8200rpms and getting 40mpg is different bub 😂
@@noahpike8274 Bubba, I own a GSR and a 10th gen si. The GSR is absolutely gutless below 6000rpm. Sure, it's fun to pound the piss out of. But on a regular daily drive, it's useless.

The intro alone is Oscar-winning content!

Brilliant review guys…thank you!! I agree, I wish Honda was a bit more aggressive on the exterior.
The exterior reflect the realty of the car. The wing looks like an Autozone aftermarket stick on.

Great review. Love these guys, can’t wait for this to come to the UK!
Ive got the same honda Si, same color but black sign (except for the Si logo). I love it
Love the cheeky Acura skit right on the money lol priceless 👌 🤣
Multiple dyno’s have shown it actually makes like 20 more whp over the previous Gen despite Honda claiming it makes less. Also, this car now has variable valve timing and lift on the exhaust cam, plus a twin scroll turbo, both of which the 10th generation didn’t come with. So it’s a slightly better platform overall. Looking forward to see what Hondata does with it
But for some reason it's slower than 10th generation. ( sources: Car and Driver and Motor Trend magazines).
@@leonwaltemate6152 0-60 difference between the 2 is really nothing, C&D tested a couple milliseconds second difference. That’s time for a not so great launch or rough shift.

😭 THAT intro! 🔥- The integrated mirror signals probably aren’t “necessary” here in the states because U.S. drivers don’t use turn signals. 😵💫
Lmao 🤣
I think that was his point.
Best intro ever! Had me in tears.
I can't describe how much better that car looks than the previous generation
I was all set to get an Si in 2019 until i drove it. Ridiculous rev hang, crunchy shift into third, and high clutch take-up ruined it. I got a GLI 35th Anniversary instead, which I'm still quite happy with. The sale might go the other way next year.
The GLI 35th is the best performance sedan for the price. Looks better. Has a way way way better engine, decent enough mpg, way faster I mean way faster, responds to mods well, looks better, has a better and stronger chassis, better transmission, better Over-all quality
Bro if u would just k tune that si no rev hang and more powaa
@@pablol1525 the problem is when you tune the GLI that he has the power gain is worlds DIFFERENT than what the SI would gain. A single stage 1 on the GLI gives it 100HP 100TQ

One of the few episodes where James does his intro with an inflection that implies YOU should be excited to find out who he is, as opposed to him being excited to find out who he is.
Haha James with the Woody quote! Hahaha respect
This is not just a cdn spec car, I believe it's manufactured in Canada as well..
So not only better equipped but better quality as well lol
Great video as always guys !! For the car itself, I really don’t like the exterior, it is way better than the previous generation but not enough agressif/sports for me, Honda can do better than that. But I thing they listen the peoples, the interior look’s like way more simple than before.
sometimes i go back to this video because it's informative-- but also the intro LOL
That intro was so brilliant
First time watching a video from this channel, and i enjoyed it! I love the American/Canadian differences and how we and they say certain words. On a side note, this video was done so well, it felt like watching an episode of Top Gear (UK) with Jeremy, James, and Richard. Well done!
Although this may be the best value for money in the segment this new exterior design looks positively "frumpy" compared to the others in its class(except the Jetta). Great job as always guys.
Hm I gotta say it looks really good. Kind of timeless and classy without Overstyling. That's what I didn't like about the old civics. They looked like too much
Except Honda's are way more reliable than VW
I have owned a ‘78 bus, 2 mk1s, a mk2, a Mk5 and a Mk6. I would buy the 11th gen si over the mk8. Purely for the lack of haptic buttons.
Also the gearing 😍 nobody makes you shift 2x before 60 mph these days because of 0-60 times. Short gears are more fun. Honda has turn this VW boy.
Then we have the C6 Z06 reaching 60 in first gear lol.
That yellow paint nailed it
They need to bring back the 2 door wagon
As nice and a convenient as this SI is, I would love to see an SI Coupe though! That I would 100% purchase
Honda will never make another coupe again
Save your money for the Integra then... because that's literally what it is.
They made one huge mistake with this car, it's only available in a sedan. The coupe is where it's at. I'll keep my 10th gen.
Also these never Civics are hideous! Nothing will ever beat the 90s-early 2000s Civics 😍
Kudos to Honda for not gearing to get to 60+mph in second gear. Bravo!
80km/h is still 50mph though. Not a huge difference.
Yea my Accord v6 6speed will only do about 57mph in second gear revving it out.
Why is that a good thing?
@@brandon-munson because shorter gear ratios make the car feel peppier, building revs quicker in each gears
@@brandon-munson because the revs are higher when you go into the next gear and puts you higher in the power curve. I'm not sure it really matters with this car because it makes power early in the Rev range
Damn that’s one sweet ass Accord!
Oh my , most of your intros are good but this is by far the finest.
