There was something divinely magical about playing a song to teleport you from such horrible places to a less scary one like the lake for example. As a kid, I remember feeling link's exhaustion (imagined of course, but very real to me) and thinking "he's been through so much, he needs a break" and then going to ride Epona for half an hour in the plaines to chill :)
If this is how scary he made the bottom of the well, I can’t even imagine what he’s gonna do to the shadow temple. Imma cry myself to sleep after that vid.
i would like to see some new abilitys on monsters and bosses that would make this game better. the old game was cool but sometimes a bit static about monsterskills and so. The grafic is good, maybe a bit more smother but i guess its only a matter of time so i like it ;D.
I love how Link looks SCARED lol. I don’t remember him animating like that in N64 version. But that dungeon scares me as a 39 year old…. You have fine mind blowing work dude
By Din, Nayru, and Farore.... My friend, you have turned one of the scariest dungeons in Zelda history into a literal descent into Hell... and I love you for it! I cannot wait to see more of your amazing work! You have totally transformed one of my most cherished childhood games while still invoking that nostalgia! If only Nintendo could see this and recognize your talent!
I love the fact Link’s face shows fear, since after all, he’s still a kid, and it really sells the fear even more when Navi speaks about the danger and seeing the skeleton with blood splattered all over
Dude you made my childhood nightmares even worse and I LOVE HOW TOU HANDLED THE REDEADS! I remember a warning in the royal family tomb that went as such “those who break into the royal tomb will be obstructed by the lurkers in the dark” and the fact that you put them in pitch black areas is a very nice touch well done to you sir/madam
Just makes you realize what kind of brave lad Link truly was! And all the ones that guided Link :) Absolutely outstanding work, it leaves me speechless!
Holy crap, that looks fantastic! Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it still gives off that claustrophobic vibe that "bottom of the well" had in the original, as well as feeling like a Zelda game, through and through. Amazing job man, kudos.
One change I don’t like is changing navi’s dialogue at the beginning. Her echoing what the unseen spirits are whispering to link trying to get him out safely from this hellhole is far creepier. Also “That is what they are saying…” After every line made every dialogue unnerving since she can hear the whispers of the dead and you can’t
I remember how scary Dead Hand was in the original, but totally lost its fear factor in the 3DS remake, and you just managed to make it even more scarier than in the original! Love your work! 👏🏽 👏🏽
I agree, the Dead Hand was much scarier on the N64. The lighting and overall ambience was darker, whereas the 3DS remake brightened everything up and made him move a bit too fluidly.
This part scared me off the game entirely when I was little. Now this, this right here could make Resident Evil fans sweat haha. Truly terrifying, it's great work.
@@penguinjay my most frightened experience in the franchise was Wind Waker ReDeads. Sure they might sound like elephants when they spot you, but those sudden red eyes and gaping mouth stunned me. I still cower and throw bombs at them from a distance to this day!
Damn, this *PERFECTLY* captures the bottom of the well: eerie, dark, and full of horror. By dark, I am not just talking about just the absence of light, but thematically dark as well. This may sound like a cognitive-dissonance, but you did a beautiful work of art with this game in general!
great job, the lighting effects, the creature design, everything. It was one of the scariest parts of the original game, I was 11 years old when I saved Hyrule in Christmas 1998.
Holy sh*t this is insane. I'm not generally a horror person but this is incredible, the lighting and the sound effects... the blood... and Link's bloody face, it really comes together
The way you kept the fact that Dead Hand doesn't just banish after being killed. The amount of detail. Despite the minor lightning fixes that could be done, this is incredible. Please keep it up!
Du kannst so stolz auf dich sein. Ich sitze hier mit 27 und meine Augen leuchten auf. Das Spiel hat uns geprägt und was du hier seit Jahren an harte Arbeit für die Menschheit machst, ist großartig.
Being a huge Ocarina of Time fan, I feel like this would sell like crazy on the Switch cause of the nostalgia and the fact you made this so incredibly awesome! ❤
This is so cool! I really like that you made Link look so young and expressive, since he really is just a kid so I like that he looks the part here, especially with the expressions and his eyes
The Dead Hand is impressive, I like how you took inspiration from the official artwork where it has dozens upon dozens of disembodied hands, rather than the four or six we saw on N64 OoT. I think it would be cool if the Dead Hand's animation involved it shuffling its grotesque mass through the dirt to show that its bound to the ground, not that the animation is bad or anything, far from it! However, as it speeds up during the fight, I'd recommend changing the shuffling animation to something more aggressive or desperate. The current animation paired with the exaggerated speed makes it look a little silly towards the end. Thank you CryZen for putting my childhood nightmares into a whole new terrifying light! :)
Hey you actually gave me some new ideas, you think crawling would be a good idea too ? Also when dead hand is dead, should he jump at you once again when you want to kill him once for all ? XD that jumpscare would be scary Thank you again for your coment ❤
@@cryzenx. A crawling animation with Dead Hand close to the ground would be horrifying! I have a hard time imagining what it would look like though... As for the jumpscare, I say go for it! To make it even scarier, why not make it only happen sometimes. Maybe 1/3 of the time when you slay the monster, he'll get up again and go for a quick chomp >:)
It looks like crap honestly, despite the high fidelity. The art style was completely lost in translation here, and Link in particular heavily clashes with the realistic style environment.
God I love this so much, this is exactly how my brain remembers it, or at least how I thought it looked in the original. Only thing I can comment on here is that the light flickering makes my head hurt, but other than that, it's truly masterfully done
Damn, this looks AMAZING! I love the expressions that you gave Link. Like a sort of scared but pensive idle expression, and his idle pose in such a scary place was spot on! And then his in-combat determined or resolved expression was *chefs kiss*. This entire dungeon and the fight were exactly what it felt like as a kid. You recreated it as it was meant to be perfectly. I was even looking around those corners waiting for those floating skull things. And then the mini boss music bumped off and I was like "WHOA okay! :D"
@@Chicky_Lumps I guess 'cause this and the Shadow Temple were a relatively small portion of the gameplay. Memorable as hell, but... Still not much of it.

As much as it is often joked about when people put Nintendo characters in unreal engine, this is actually fantastic. This is exactly how I would imagine OOT on current gen hardware. Keep up the good work!!!😄
This send me rocketing back to my childhood, playing OoT on an old TV that was super dark (the kind of TV with no brightness control so "shadowy and dim" was pitch black). I remember being scared to death of the Bottom of the Wheel (literal nightmares of that place) and Navi being my only light and indication of what was there and what I needed to do. I love that fairy to this day for being there for me and Link during those days. Seriously, I would absolutely play this as a full game. Even the body language on Link and the mix of fear but pushing forward anyways, the shit he had to go through because some "goddess" thought it was a good idea to make an actual kid a "hero", putting the weight of the world on a child. Awesome work, fam, I hope to see more soon!
You not only made Dead Hand creepier, but you also gave him hair! You really did my favorite miniboss and bottom of the well justice! I know this will make me sound like a psychopath, but love the detail of the spattered blood on Link's clothes, the walls, and floors, and the countless skeletons littered all over the place! Do you plan on recreating the entire Shadow Temple too?
Absolutely love. I loved that Link actually looked scared. That small detail shows that having courage doesn’t mean you’re not frightened. The Bottom Of The Well was everything I hoped it would be. The skeletons and bones, the fact that it was so dark and suffocating. I could almost feel the damp tepid air and smell the metallic stench of old blood and soil. The way I screamed out loud when Dead Hand opened his mouth to bite you! 😅😅 Excellent work.
Woahh, this is actually how I saw the game with my 8years old eyes back then, you did such an amazing job, I hope your remake will come out and we will have the honor to play it. You truly kept the real frightning ambience of the game and made it even more intense! Keep going! I am impressed !!! Never thought will experience this in my lifetime! This thing scared the hell out of me as a kid. I had nightmares for a while, then the movie deadbirds came out which had a similar creature in it and I freaked out. This is for me the most horrifying part of the game aside from the invisible ceiling grabber. The details in this brings that horror to a while new level. Amazing job dearie.

No other Zelda games will come remotely close to the creativity and effort put into the enemies, music, and atmosphere that OOT and MM have. Still the best Zelda games to this day.
Indeed. I really enjoyed Totk and most Zeldas after. But OoT and MM just have something special about them. Even when I play them now as a man in his 30's, they still give me that giddy sense of joy I had as a kid.
The expression of fear and being absolutely creeped out in Link is chef's kiss. Reminds me of how I felt when I played this part as a kid! This is absolutely stunning and you definitely nailed the horror the Bottom of the Well held! Keep up the amazing work, you're doing awesome!

My 3 childhood nightmares although I don't see the hand that fell from above, well done, you have revived my nightmares hahaha, it has been great for you!
this truly embodies the INFINITE courage young Link showed.. complete fearlessness in the faces of true evil.. he never asked for any of this. An absolute hero.. truly. to the creator this is beyond great work. you've bought so much depth to the bottom of the well for me (no pun intended) this shxt is wild..
Maaaaan! I remember playing this as a kid and being upset by the gruesome catacombs underneath the windmill, but this is another level of creepy. Well done!
When he got down to half a heart and started running about looking for hearts and got grabbed by the hand with the camera angle and room going dark. That was peak horror. I can feel the panic. Starting at 14:38
I didn't realize how much of the game part is a work in progress. There is so much jank, but it's definitely interesting to see it being worked on. I will have to admit, the presentation there is amazing, and seeing the redead's only lit by Navi is absolutely freaky.
I think it wouldn't be too playable I think you need the light to bounce at least twice, or somehow have Navi's shadows not be too harsh. The harsh shadows from navi are unpredictably reducing visibility. Everything else looks incredible and accurate, great work!
This is a really impressive achievement, elevating a masterpiece like this. Love the work you did with the lighting and Link's characterization; the trepidation on his face before the boss gate like "Uh, you sure about this, boss?" is perfect
The stress of not knowing what will pop out from around the corner and take your soul from you. Kinda like teetering on the edge of fear and anxiety. These are the vibes I got from watching this gameplay. From a long time Zelda fan, you did masterfully on this.
I really like how you made Dead Hand’s wiggling look really twitchy, almost like stop-motion animation. Not sure the boss theme remix really works, but overall this looks really good!
Great job at making the bottom of the well absolutely horrifying! Hearing the groan of the ReDeads far off in the distance and darkness is the stuff of nightmares. I'd actually dread having to come down here, in a good way!
This was INCREDIBLE! Zelda just went from being rated E to rated M for being SO scary and I LOVE IT! I thought it was so freaky the way the ReDeads heads were twitching, and they looked so grotesque! But Dead Hand absolutely took the cake for being the freakiest thing in this video! It truly seemed to be some forgotten monstrosity that slew any that was unfortunate enough to wander into its lair.
From the thumbnail, I thought this was going to be an animated short like the one from majoras mask "You've met a terrible fate, haven't you?", but this beeing something playable is crazy.
This was almost (not quite, but almost) too dark for me, emotionally speaking. Still, amazing work. I'm really surprised the big N hasn't taken your work down. I hope they're taking notes because you're stuff is exactly what fans want in an OOT remake.
I love that the low health warning was a slow, ominous heartbeat here. I do feel like the music and sounds could be muffled during this to emphasize how dangerous things are getting for Link. Aside from that, this looks amazing!
This is Awesome!! Don't let any body drag you down! The people saying "it looks like crap" cant respect the time and effort put into this. Not to mention they are fools thinking you ruined this. As a kid, I remember feeling link's exhaustion (imagined of course, but very real to me) and thinking "he's been through so much, he needs a break" and then going to ride Epona for half an hour in the plaines to chill :)
To me it was Link. You could see the force in his eyes. He would take those clowns down and loot their little well empty
Yoo I would do the same shit as a kid 🤣 like here go be a child for a bit
Same here! Anytime I completed an area that terrified me, I'd take Link to Lon Lon ranch or some other happy, peaceful place. 😆
Everytime I see the ending of the game I just cry and think "Damn he went through a lot" but also the ending is just so beautiful
If this is how scary he made the bottom of the well, I can’t even imagine what he’s gonna do to the shadow temple. Imma cry myself to sleep after that vid.
I can't wait man that's one of my favourite stages.
i would like to see some new abilitys on monsters and bosses that would make this game better. the old game was cool but sometimes a bit static about monsterskills and so.
And all the ones that guided Link :)
Absolutely outstanding work, it leaves me speechless!
I think he needs a hug and therapy after that experience lol
@@Youtuubpewp completely agree. The poor child
Him and players both! 😨😨😰
And he’s only like 10 💀 poor kid
There's the annoying Navi tho
Holy crap, that looks fantastic!
Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it still gives off that claustrophobic vibe that "bottom of the well" had in the original, as well as feeling like a Zelda game, through and through. Amazing job man, kudos.
It's just insane you make this all by yourself for so many years, and it keeps growing to look more and more beutiful.
One change I don’t like is changing navi’s dialogue at the beginning.
Her echoing what the unseen spirits are whispering to link trying to get him out safely from this hellhole is far creepier.
Also
“That is what they are saying…”
After every line made every dialogue unnerving since she can hear the whispers of the dead and you can’t
The blood is much more graphic here, I shrugged it off when I was younger but if I saw this I would’ve been terrified - great work
I remember how scary Dead Hand was in the original, but totally lost its fear factor in the 3DS remake, and you just managed to make it even more scarier than in the original! Love your work! 👏🏽 👏🏽
I agree, the Dead Hand was much scarier on the N64. The lighting and overall ambience was darker, whereas the 3DS remake brightened everything up and made him move a bit too fluidly.
Didn’t stop 12 year old me from throwing his 2ds at the wall out of fear.
@@Just_normal_youtube_channel oof
Honesty looks really good, terrifying how real and accurate everything looked. Gooe job
Damn, this *PERFECTLY* captures the bottom of the well: eerie, dark, and full of horror. By dark, I am not just talking about just the absence of light, but thematically dark as well. This may sound like a cognitive-dissonance, but you did a beautiful work of art with this game in general!
This looks simply incredible! Thank you so much for your hard work 🙏🏻
thank you so much
@@cryzenx. can you do a different angle when the redead is on link? Barely saw him during the video
And very intense video and I love your work
@Re-Animator I'd like to see you do better. You have 5 weeks to come up with something. Go.
@Re-Animator sounds like a personal problem. I'll give you 7 weeks. 2 weeks to buy the pc and 5 to get crackin. Chop chop dick head 😂
@nexisdehÑÑÑÑÑÑ
great job, the lighting effects, the creature design, everything. It was one of the scariest parts of the original game, I was 11 years old when I saved Hyrule in Christmas 1998.
Holy sh*t this is insane. I'm not generally a horror person but this is incredible, the lighting and the sound effects... the blood... and Link's bloody face, it really comes together
I like how scared link actually looks makes it more realistic in this setting ! Your version looks amazing !
The blood effect looks amazing, this gives such a creepy vibe for a creepy place.
Being a huge Ocarina of Time fan, I feel like this would sell like crazy on the Switch cause of the nostalgia and the fact you made this so incredibly awesome! ❤
Yes because the switch can run Unreal Engine games.
Even though it can barely run software dedicated to it, like actual Zelda games.

XD that jumpscare would be scary
Thank you again for your coment ❤
@@cryzenx. Crawling is really creepy, it would add to it, and a final jump scare after it's dead would be great.
@@googleuser4720 ok, then just play the original game
@@googleuser4720 You're just butthurt
The redeads being lit up by Navi was super cool to see. Was scary enough as a kid let alone in URE5! Too many skulls though 💀💀
I can't believe how amazing this looks, my inner child is really excited for this one
It looks amazing!
0:17 yeah Link I’d be scared going into the bottom of a well linked to the shadow temple as a 10 year old too.
Uh oh, not Deadhand in a realistic artstyle...
I'd shit a brick if i saw that back in the day.
@@AfterAllWeAreHuman you kidding? I’d shit one now! What was Nintendo thinking with dead hand? E10+ my ass! That’s pure nightmare fuel.
@@stormtendo Original was somehow rated E and not at least T (there was no E10+ back then IIRC). How it didn't get a T is anyone's guess.
@@Chicky_Lumps I guess 'cause this and the Shadow Temple were a relatively small portion of the gameplay. Memorable as hell, but... Still not much of it.
@@stormtendo E10 back then was what most people consider Adult Only these days.
Even though I'm in my late 20's, the Bottom of the Well still makes me extremely nervous and my heart feels like it's racing. Not only did you capture the complete horror experience from the place, you upped it by 1000%, making it a truly unforgettable watching experience.
Somethng Nintendo failed so hard afterwards same. Metroid and Zelda were the best games for Nintendo.
Wow its like the idealized version I have in my head. Incredible work, easily one of the scariest moments in the game and you made it even more terrifying
The gasp I did when I saw that Skulltula was very real. This gave me genuine chills, what a great video.
Mission complet i guess xD thank you !
Excellent video as always CryZENx, you are an inspiration for all us video game designers, video game developers and artists

hehe, thanks to you for the great feedback, canot wait to show more in the future, i learned so much by doing this little demo
You might've heard this a thousand times already, but this is an amazing TREASURE. For gaming's history, for the community, formed by each of our hearts that keeps this game deeply cherished. Really impressive reimagining of this place! The original was undeniably unnerving, but this takes it to M-rated horror!
No other Zelda games will come remotely close to the creativity and effort put into the enemies, music, and atmosphere that OOT and MM have. Still the best Zelda games to this day.
Yep
Indeed. I really enjoyed Totk and most Zeldas after. But OoT and MM just have something special about them. Even when I play them now as a man in his 30's, they still give me that giddy sense of joy I had as a kid.

this truly embodies the INFINITE courage young Link showed.. complete fearlessness in the faces of true evil.. he never asked for any of this.
Well done!
This looks amazing ..imagine what shadow temple will look like..just love the expression on link's face that uneasy feeling
When he got down to half a heart and started running about looking for hearts and got grabbed by the hand with the camera angle and room going dark. That was peak horror. I can feel the panic. Starting at 14:38
This is absolutely gorgeous. I gotta admit tho, there were points during the fight I was like "quit derping around and just fight him already!" Lolol
Been following you for years now I think. Love your work on this game!
I agree. It's almost pitch black at points. The lighting needs to be reworked, but other than that, it looks awesome!
you're making so many people's dreams come true
You're a straight up legend
This is a really impressive achievement, elevating a masterpiece like this. Love the work you did with the lighting and Link's characterization; the trepidation on his face before the boss gate like "Uh, you sure about this, boss?" is perfect
The stress of not knowing what will pop out from around the corner and take your soul from you. Kinda like teetering on the edge of fear and anxiety. These are the vibes I got from watching this gameplay. From a long time Zelda fan, you did masterfully on this.
just imagine this backed by an entire studio. We would pay out the wazoo. Excellent work
I didn't grow up with LoZ and only got into the franchise through Botw. I cannot wait to play your OoT demo! This looks awesome!
Great work! Made dead hands an actual horror
From the thumbnail, I thought this was going to be an animated short like the one from majoras mask "You've met a terrible fate, haven't you?", but this beeing something playable is crazy.
check out my latest video, will blow your mind too :)
This looks absolutely gorgeous and I hope Nintendo collabs with CryZENx! Amazing! You've really got the vision.
