What perfect timing to hear Jane in this TED Talk during an interesting time in my life. One ~ I never thought of myself as a futurist until today learning how futurist think. Which is Xtremely Awesome. Two ~ The XYZ Method is so interesting because it literally took my thoughts and plans I've had for 6 months and created a story that make me even more motivated. ~ Thank you Jane.
Made me realise most of my empathy is generated the hard way. Thanks Jane for the triangle of "what if" - giving phrase to patterns I've been vaguely aware, now visible in higher resolution.
Even if you do know one part of the future, such as reaching the peak of a mountain, it's your journey getting there that matters the most. Achieving your greatest dreams is pretty much finding a way to draw the most beautiful swirling line between point A, where you are now, and point B where you want to end up.
Knowing you can't do much about any of it maybe? Learn to take it all in stride and go with the flow (easier said than done, but that doesn't mean it can't be done)
Everything that humans have created in this world began in the human imagination. Every story, every song, every weapon, every war, all architecture and science and even math -- everything begins in imagination. We've somehow never fully consciously noticed that we >>imagine and then >>create what we have imagined. When we begin to understand the relationship between our imagination and our experience of our world, we will begin to develop the abilities and understandings we need in order to create a world that nourishes and celebrates all living things. Or, we can all keep imagining that we are powerless to change anything, and that our world is on an inevitable course to a truly dark future. Whichever we collectively imagine, we will create.
@@bonniechase6731 You are right but you must be gullible to think that daydreaming alone can save the world where people are under the heavy influence of people who control everything which can be used to alter or regulate people from birth and shape them in a way that fits their agenda since propaganda via media outlets have never been this strong before.Mass surveillance system tracking your every move even when you twitch; homelessness increasing, people being way too separated from realism and everyone is "daydreaming" on drugs.Baseless imagination is nothing but baseless you can dream all you want but if you arent aware enough you will face the consequences.
So Great to have Jane McG back at TED.. She never disappoints !

The power of visualisation, if you can see it, you can make it happen.

Spot on! Love it. Thank you for the reminder of how empowered each of us really are to make something 'different':)
excellent speaker
This reminds me of what Connor McGregor said about manifestation.
Here’s a question, how can someone with anxiety be at ease of the fact that anything could be different at any point in time?

I'll save you 19 minutes. Daydreaming will make the world a better place.

Cheers... now what to do with 19 minutes....
