Wayne! To be honest, Minn Kota should sponsor you for the number of motors you saved with those tips. No one ever told me about greasing those round connection points with dielectric grease! I went through 1 engine already within the first year and had to manually stow it on a rough day. I got the new replacement motor, and after 8 hours out in the salt, I was shocked to find out the amount of green corrosion that built up already within 8 hours!!! I cleaned the connections really well, kept applying dielectric grease before going out every time, and didn't have any problems since! Thanks again!!
great clip - I have had my Ulterra since 2018 and eventually worked out what maintenance was required from following various posts. Beyond me why Minn Kota hasn't produced something like you have done
Excellent tips, didn't know about the stow/deploy switch, I also use silicon spray on the shaft and toothed rubber tape about every third trip, have had mine since early 2018, also dialectic grease is for electrical connections, I use it at work, and employ a wipe on then wipe off technic for the stainless steel rings as too much will case issues, I wouldn't put it directly onto the brushes
BIGGEST GAME CHANGER: rough seas and ‘worn’ older knees--NO MORE BALANCING ACTS TO DEPLOY/STOW MOTOR!!! Enough…Deep in southern coastal Louisiana, U S A!😀
I have one Problem with my ulterra. I can put it in and out, thats all. I dont can Turn it arround or Start the Engine or Start the anchor. I Make the reset Three times. May be you can help me.
Mine was a remote control issue when it did the same, only 2 buttons worked, try down loading the app and see if it works using app off your phone to confirm remote Is not working
@@pannieslayer7699 Not sure whats your point? That's a great Vid for maintenance, and they're correct to not lubricate that part which will only attract dust and dirt which will affect its performance
@@fussybugger the units don’t come with any maintenance for those of us who used them in salt water, they are a high maintenance unit that’s not suited to salt, the instructions are not the best.
So basically these are designed for freshwater bass fishing, not Nz saltwater. Was lukewarm interested in one but think I’ll flag. Don’t need all this extra work every other trip. And surely those electrical connections aren’t going to last long term given electricity+salt+metal 😬
Yes that’s probably true, the mechanic for Minn Kota said he’s seen ones that are 5 years old no dramas, I won’t do that every second trip to be honest probably 2 x a year
Good afternoon. When turning the engine to the right, it makes much louder noises than when turning it to the left. What can it be? Here on video. ruclips.net/user/shortsqCgITsiLa8g

There seem to be a lot of people NOT doing this maintenance, AND having related problems. THANKS for excellent pointers!!

Should be in the instructions to be honest
Good practical kiwi demo and talk through. Beats deciphering the manual. Avoid water blaster as part of the typical boat wash down too.
Cheers mate

Cheers mate , what about the green on the brushes ? Sand it off ?

Well done. Thank you.
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! THANKS!
Spot on mate, done the same on mine and no issues.
Why are the salt water self deploy/ stow only made in white? Kinda ridiculous we can't have a color option. Good video
No idea but they sort of get dirty in places and it’s hard to clean
Merci

@@pannieslayer7699 You are Right. I changed the Battery from the Remote Control and every think is working now.
2:40 I wonder if I could use di-electric grease here..
Have a look on the back of any grease you have already, I had some and didn’t even realise
no grease or lubricant on the screw part !!- per Minn Kota Advice. see at 9:15 ruclips.net/video/ebAPY3u6LJw/видео.html
They tell you what not to do but not what to do

Nah they are awesome, can fish where others can’t. Game changer
They're are game changer for fishing mate, like anything to do with boats, maintenance is always key.

That’s normal, I had mine replaced under warranty and it was no better, I was told it was ok , that’s the reason I’m now using a Garmin Force

Do not grease that worm gear worst thing you can do
Good info thanks mate. Hard to find any reliable service info.
No worries
