I used the maintenance procedures contained in the video to service my Riptide Ulterra. The combination of oral instructions accompanied by film of each procedure made it easy for me to complete the job. Great job! Thanks again. 👌

Just had a stow issue and this video along with Minn Kota CS were a big help. Will be doing better maintenance in the future. Thanks

This video was excellent in maintaining the Ulterra trolling motor. Many video about maintenance but this is from the manufacture for long usage without hopefully problems to prevent usage. Need to have this linked in the manual to videos that Minn Kota produces so all in one area and then you locate your product. My unit is on order and should arrive by end of the week after the delays with COVID.

Great video series. I’d like to see a detailed how to load test batteries and plug end video. I’ve just been using a multi tester to check voltage. Would like to buy some type of load tester.

Excellent Video, But At 16:19 I disagree, in the minn kota ulterra owners manual Minn kota recommends greasing the stow and deploy shaft with marine grease, I’ve been doing that and no issues, I strongly recommend greasing it for smooth stow and deploy,

Can your spray CRC Marine Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor on the screws and other parts to prevent rust from salt?

    Great video.
    2 questions
1: My ulterra is loose from getting caught on a fixed dock during low tide and a decent amount of chop. The shaft was being pulled upward away from the boat and now it sits a bit loose in the housing. When the thrust is engaged you can see a bit of movement of the unit in the housing, vs remaining straight/uptight and in place. What should I tighten to fix this?
2: I want the exact setup in the beginning of the video. Unfortunately the clip of the pilot house boat with the rail is edited too short. We never see the ulterra fully stowed and I can't understand where it would end up if stowed or how it would miss the rail. Also, is it mounted on a platform? Also, what sort of issues if any would one face by mounting it so far to one side (port in this case). Is that recommended?
    Thanks!

      Licidhate,
Without seeing the motor it is hard to say what is wrong. We would suspect you either have a bent latch pin or the Tilt Bracket could have gotten bent which could be causing the movement.
      Best regards.

hi i took my batteries off for the winter and i just recontected them iv no power light coming on my charger shows all my battiers full and im not sure what you call it the white thing with the blue flashing light comes on and my remote says no motor found can you please help

    • @MinnKotaTutorials

      Ronnie Maihot,
Make sure that you don't have reversed polarity at your batteries or plug and receptacle. If the connections are correct, then it could be an issue with the control board in the motor. Also, the motor has an inline fuse or breaker, make sure that isn't popped or blown.
      Best Regards.

This video misses a very important issue. I followed these steps and ended up with a very expensive repair. The seal on the head allowed water into the electric brushes and contact rings. The replacement of the entire part cost me $1900 including labour.

@@56igadget get a complete replacement at any Minn Kota agency and see for yourself. The brush rings were so corroded that a total replacement was required.

I've been having a tough time finding "water based" silicone spray. This is clearly because silicone is soluble in oil and not water. Maybe it is possible to form a homogeneous mixture, albeit only temporarily suspended, using aerosol spray mechanism or my arms to shake the bottle.
I saw that LPS stuff pictured is "petroleum based" per their website. CRC #03035 makes a silicone spray that is explicitly "water based" so I am going to pay $20 for that out of abundance of caution.
The difficulty of this makes me feel like I'm missing something ...
    - maybe most silicone sprays are more-or-less water based
    - maybe the manufacturer is required to recommend water based for sake of the environment (but they don't bother to clarify what is and is not ok to use because they know they get less warranties with the oil-based)
Anybody have some insight on this?
