Amazing how Tennant is in the line up twice, once for each of his regenerations
why wouldn't he be?
@@HCProds1I kinda figured they’d put the newer version in the original’s place
@@codyleroy7 ofc not when its 2 separate incarnations
RIP metacrisis. he gone.
THE MIDDLE 8 IS BACK BABYYYYY
And it's the best one yet
@@user-fn6bm4yf7v True that one is up there. But this new one just hits different, plus it's actually in the proper place.
@@user-fn6bm4yf7v you do realize of course the ending bit of this new tune with the paino notes is like a tribute to that theme yes?
@@user-fn6bm4yf7v wasn't meaning to be, just meant to point out that similarity might be why your thinking of the 96 movie theme 🙂
The middle 8 is so important to me.
The middle 8 finally appears in the credits once again, like it deserves.
I'm so glad it sounds 100% more polished than the Orchestra one we got to hear, I wasn't a fan at all at first and was kinda worried.
The breathing sound effect is a bit much for me personally, but besides that
@@Rocksteady72a if you listen to it with a sound system, not really bad tv drivers, it doesn’t sound like breathing at all…
@@LaurenceReeves Weird assumption to think it's coming from tv speakers (do people actually use them?) It was at home with the 7.1 setup... It sounds just the same as on my iPad.
My thoughts exactly. I know people were excited but I was *very* unimpressed with the concert version - the different orchestra sections sounded completely out of time with each other and I almost thought I'd clicked the wrong video. Thankfully the show version is lovely.
@@OrbitalWings yes! Everyone was totally on love with it. But because I have quite a sharp ear.. I thought it was a fan concept at first, till I then saw the official channels posting it.
I think the breaths are a clever way to point back to the Tom Baker time vortex’s “hiss” that was part of the composition. Bold choices are always interesting to me
I legit got goosebumps when the Middle Eight played in the closing credits. They completely abandoned it during the Moffat Era save for an "accidental?" use in the closing credits for The Beast Below, and also a special occasion use in Day of the Doctor. The Chibnall Era used it a little more often I think, but again, only for special occasions. I hope it's here to stay. RTD did say he loves it in an interview.
It stopped being included in the late Davies era, too. It has to do with credit length policies at the BBC. It hasn't been included in almost all episodes where the theme music didn't continue over the next time trailer (the last regular use of the full theme was Turn Left, the last episode with theme music over the next time).
So they've had to go against BBC policy to fit the full theme in.
@@thegreentimtam Perhaps that is the reason why the opening theme is shorter than usual. To make up the time that the Middle 8 would take.
Though I am just an American. I have absolutely no clue what BBC Policies are.
I was iffy about the credits initially, but that throat singing or rattle gives a mechanical feel to the song. I kind of love it now.
I can’t wait to see written in the third special the Giggle “and introducing Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor”
"What the HELL is going on here!?"
Cue credits
@@cunningsmile4166Oh it was more than that. 😈
I might be the only one but after 4 seconds the breathing for me sounds like breathy "Doctor Who" over and over?
That's what I heard it as the first time I heard the breathing
Sounds like someone drumming an aluminum door
Thank you so much for posting this. The television broadcast was ruined by a voice over!!!
It was driving me a little nutty trying to figure out what the rythmic breathing reminded me of and I remembered the breakdown at 2:15 in Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus
"Doctor Who" "Doctor Who" "Doctor Who" that is not breathing they are chanting words, later you can just hear "exterminate" "exterminate"...
...there is something going on in the background track of this theme!
Where on earth did you find the updated 60th anniversary picture with Ncuti in it? I would love a high quality version of it if you have it!
pretty sure it was posted to all the official Doctor Who social media pages not long ago
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I prefer the closing version. Those piano chords accompanying buildup sound much better than those descending strings 0:04
Orchestra is song beatiful.
Fourteenth doctor is good.
Percussion sounds good.
Im in the minority but I fucking love the rhythmic breathing.
Nah, I hate it. It really dominates the track. Its very distracting. And the sound of breathing is very irritating.
I personally love it. Such a fun, fresh and whimsical change. Also noticed that it was a bit louder in the closing part of the theme and more silent (more buried in the mix) in the intro.
I'm pretty sure it's literally just some one saying doctor who doctor who doctor who
@@plantainsame2049 Maybe, who knows. (Heh).
That isn't breathing. It's just a stick instrument giving the possibly unintentional illusion of a breathing sound. Know your instruments 😂
Why is Troughton at the back? Is it because they want us to forget they destroyed half his performance? Dang you, BBC.
wait, can anyone hear female breathing? or am i going crazy?
Yes. During the end credits.
@@SGTRandleOneOne why is that do you think? do you think its got something to do with the plot? or is it just an altered thing
@@user-ez4ie5hy3qSomeone else suggested they're just chanting Doctor Who over and over again
You're going crazy, the sticks are making that sound. It's an illusion.
@user-ez4ie5hy3q probably just an alternate thing. Don't think it's plot related.
The breathing sounds like Kanye West's 'BlaKKK skin head'
I love the “breathing” sounds actually, just wondering, are they the heartbeats of a Time Lord?
I'm pretty sure there's just someone chanting. Doctor who doctor who under their breath near the end
Also no because that would be the Baseline
@@plantainsame2049too me it really just sounds like scrapping sticks, likely a percussion instrument of some kind, I think its just playing with your ears
@@plantainsame2049no
Everyone keeps mentioning the breathing and I can't even hear it, when does it start?
@@jimf8047 It's there for the entire closing theme. It mimics the bassline. I think you can hear it better with headphones.
Me going up a single flight of stairs
Umm can I ask a question about the specials of the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who: Will David Tenant only be in three of the specials and go straight to regenerate to the 15th, cause if so then that's kind of a short time for our 14th doctor right?
Yep, after these specials, 15 will take over for the Christmas special and beyond. 14 is a sort of bridge incarnation to fill in as Ncuti was busy with other projects in 2022 and wasn’t available to film Doctor Who.
@@CAMiStH that's sad for the 14th :(
Don’t worry, David was in a pretty cool spinoff series called “Doctor Who”. Only appeared in the second to fourth season tho. Would recommend.
@@mikeestash9921Bruh...
Yeah which is why they Shouldn't have called him fourteen
And instead something like three point oh he's literally just here for the anniversary
it is not complete without the eye of harmony
I wonder if bringing up the breathing and dropping the orchestra in the mix was intentional or not compared to the opening which has their prominence switched.
Throat singing?
Who's that ponytail Lady on the Left? That's the Doctor? How old is the Doctor?
Fugitive doctor. Basically a hidden doctor that wasn't mentioned just like war doctor
Y'all really hear breathing, or chanting? Has no one ever heard of percussion????
Is it just me or do parts of this sound like the Hyrue Castle theme in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom?
Just came here to say that I LOVE THE WEIRD BREATHING
It’s a shame first people in the comments don’t know about percussion. It’s a darn shame
The female breathing does not sound like percussion.
that sounds like someone who doesnt know what percussion is SOUNDS LIKE! (joking btw)@@user-ez4ie5hy3q
@@InfiniteProductions123 it doesn't sound like percussion to me. it sounds like breathing.
Fucking asmr just because Disney now own it and well ye..
disney doesnt own it. the only thing disney has done to doctor who is allow it to be streamed. thats basically all they can do.
@@InfiniteProductions123 still fuck up tho with story lore and character. Time and monster no longer scary :/
@@pheonix8167 im both confused. and confused. And even more confused on what your trying to say-
@@pheonix8167huh?
Feels like they sampled the breathing from Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. At least thats the vibe I get anyway!
Ah yes the orgasm breathing theme
Great theme, shame about the weird breathing tho
What breathing?
I hate the weird breathes, had to take my headphones off 😂
If it helps, just imagine David Tennant in the orchestra shaking maracas to the beat with a cheeky smile.
The hells with the orgasam Noises
Can someone do a edit of this theme with the annoying breathing removed please?
It's not breathing at someone going doctor who doctor who doctor who
@@plantainsame2049that is a percussion instrument 💀💀💀
@@nickoffury No it's someone muttering doctor who
Listen
@@plantainsame2049 I’ve listened. I’ve done music for 19 years. It’s a percussion instrument 😂
@@nickoffury You can literally hear people saying doctor who And a whisper you can make out the syllables
i NEED this without the annoying breathing noises
the breathing is so distracting…
Honestly… it’s so so close the being my favorite theme. But that weird grunting kinda ruins it.
The stupid breathing sounds completely ruin it, they make no sense to me
It's someone saying doctor who doctor who doctor who doctor who under their breath over and over again
@@plantainsame2049 It's clearly a percussion instrument of some kind, it's not someone talking.
It's supposed to be a throwback to the very first theme, which had similar sounds in it, but the "breathing" totally does not suit this version of the theme.
@@lachlanstaunts The original theme had hissing. I'm pretty sure this is someone muttering Or chanting
@@plantainsame2049 Regardless of what it is, I'm sure it's supposed to be reminiscent of the hissing in the original theme, even if it doesn't sound identical.
It's the same sort of use of an unconventional instrument/vocals to create a hint of mystery to the theme
