- Murray Gold delivers yet another arrangement of the 2023- theme, this one presumably being the closing credits arrangement going forward. Features a louder bassline in its first half, slightly more prominent Derbyshire melody elements, and less prominent orchestral elements (particularly in its final third) than that used in the anniversary specials.

I'm just happy the middle 8 are there in the actual aired episode.
There's so much of the og Derbyshire bass in this I love it

I'm fairly certain all of Gold's arrangements of the theme have the Derbyshire bass except for the 2014 one.

Great new version of the theme. I gre up with this show from 1981 onwards and there have been many themes in that time. This one speaks joy, fun, hope and adventure and suits the character of Gatwa's Doctor.

@@daiyahigashikata to clarify, I believe it's a percussion instrument. Fair enough. But it does sound like breathing I'm sorry. I think it's just one of those things that some people pick up on and some don't. Personally I can't unhear it even when I'm trying.

I am not gonna lie: the Middle 8 sounds better in this version than in 14's version
I miss how pronounced the piano was in the middle 8 in 14’s

I notice that the whispering SFX has been toned down a bit.

Thank goodness. I think it fits much better now.
The original bassline / melody samples from the 60s seems more prevalent now too, though that may be my imagination.
@@themightythor1160No, it's not your imagination. I could barely hear the Derbyshire bassline before, now I can even hear the original middle 8 melody.

I have always been a fan of DW closing theme music. This was one of the best ones with the piano and choral sound.
This is slowly becoming my favourtive theme of all time, currently its 2nd for me, but it just so catchy and good.

Ooh, glad to see you posting Who content again! Always a welcome sight. And I love the new theme tune! It's a nice mix of all of Gold's previous versions while still feeling like its own animal.
What I love so much about this theme and Ncutis doctor is it feels like the best parts of every nuwho doctor, tardises, personality, music, clothes has been put into this new doctor.
This is now probably my 1st or 2nd favourite doctor opening titles theme. its so good.
Edit: I just keep coming back and listening to this intro every time I watch doctor who now because since RTD has come back, its actually felt like DW again, even the intro. Everything about it, the music, the Tardis flying through the vortex again. Its kind of 10th/9th esk where the Tardis fly's out of one vortex into another. IMO, the 13th doctors intro felt nothing like doctor who to me but that's my opinion.
This theme has really grown on me, i never had a problem with the "breathing" tho
I really do not understand these constant remarks about "breathing" and "whispering". I do not hear people inhaling and exhaling, nor do I hear people chatting at a soft volume. Even in the original mix of this theme, I heard very obvious backing instruments.
Then listen more closely! The whispering is really there, it's just more apparent in the Tennant specials.
@@lemonpines - I've played this theme (both the Anniversary mix and this updated mix) frequently since it came to RUclips, and I just dont hear the whispering or breathing that so many are going on about. I sincerely think that this is a case of - to paraphrase an 8th Doctor line from the 1996 TV movie - people hearing something in a thing, that isn't there.
It really is there, I didn't hear it at first either. It is most apparent in the end credits. But maybe it's better if you don't hear the whispers, once I heard them, I couldn't unhear them haha@@ImpulseKidEntertainment
You're right. It's maracas or something similar that people are probably referring to. There totally isn't breathing.
It’s good that the whispers were toned down, but I wish they hadn’t toned down the piano solos, that gave such tv movie theme vibes and I loved that
Holy shit this is incredible! If you were gonna do a V2, one think I'd suggest is maybe beefing up the melody so it's not completely overtaken by the new Bassline
The whispering sound really grew on me idk why so many people despise it, but each to their own😂- I'm just glad Moffatt shut down Russells idea of adding David and Catherine/Ncuti and Millie hanging out the tardis as the vortex flys past. It would have been soo goofy, and based on how many people stopped him after viewing it says it all😂😂😂

I love how you just need an orchestra to make something as eerie as the original Derbyshire arrangement to make it absolutely heroic and majestic

They've definitely turned the effects down.
Honestly prefer this to the variant with the strange, clunky whispering. Let's hope it stays that way throughout Series 14!
I wish the Derbyshire melody was louder like it is in the opening.

I'm sorry but I just can't stand the whispering no matter the volume, they should've just got rid of it entirely. If the point of the whispering is to emulate the white noise loops from the original 1963 arrangement, then they should've just used the white noise loops from Derbyshire's original theme would've worked so much better and been less disorientating
I felt similar at first but there are parts in this one as they're toned down that I think they work
The whispering/breathing needs to be deleted from the soundtrack permanently.
