Doctor Who | Season 1 Opening Title Sequences FIXED (my versions)

- I'm glad they fixed the logo... but boy oh BOY did it come at a cost...
Here's my attempt to "fix" the new Season 1 title sequences. I appreciate the effort that went into updating these since TCORR, but I thought I could make some additional tweaks here and there...
Below are some of the main changes that were applied across all title sequences:
1. Re-timing the visuals to the music and vice versa - This involved trimming a few frames of some of the shots in the titles so that they hit the beats of the theme tune, including at the end when the titles cut away.
2. Re-extending the theme tune - The way the opening theme was "extended" as first heard in Space Babies was quite jarring, so I thought I would re-extend the theme to smooth it out more.
3. Zoom-in on the new shot - The new VFX shot they added that takes place before the logo appears is gorgeous, with the exception of a noticeable error on the top left corner (where the orange bit weirdly "fades" into the purple vortex). Gave me Series 7B vibes, so I thought I would just avoid that.
And below is a list of all the titles in this video, with some more specific details on what I've done:
1. The Church on Ruby Road - Updated the theme to match the S1 mix and replaced the logo with the new one.
2. Space Babies - Added a little VFX edit at the front to assist with the music re-time (as the intro doesn't extend far back enough)
3. The Devil's Chord - Synched Maestro's performance of the theme to correct beat/tempo, softened the transition into the actual theme, and fixed the jarring mono-to-stereo transition that takes place in the shot after Millie's name pops up. I also added some more subtle instruments to accompany Maestro's playing to sweeten it a bit more. (I know too that I left in the closing version of the theme as opposed to replacing it with the opening. I kinda liked how it was incorporated, especially when it transitions into the jukebox at the end. But of course I felt the need to soften that transition as well.)
4. Boom - Simple re-time and re-extension of the theme.
5. 73 Yards (Version 1) - Using my edit of the titles for Space Babies, I wanted to see what a 73 Yards title sequence would look like first with no cold open. I used the original variation of the opening theme and cut right after the logo transitioned out (which actually timed really well) since the episode title appears on the first shot of the episode.
6. 73 Yards (Version 2) - My take on a more proper version of the intro. The only notable difference here is the absence of Ncuti's name in the credits (special thanks to @Dyloneth for the clean titles!) since at this point in the story he has already disappeared (whereas in version 1 you're not supposed to know that he disappears yet).
7. Dot & Bubble - Simple re-time and re-extension of the theme.
8. Rogue - Simple re-time and re-extension of the theme.
9. The Legend of Ruby Sunday - Simple re-time and re-extension of the theme.
10. Empire of Death - Simple re-time and re-extension of the theme.

I wish the BBC put Bonnie's name in the titles for the finale. Although it might be tricky with the current layout of the title placement. Maybe when the new companion and Ruby come in, people will use the three name template go back to add Bonnie's name in the finale titles
I too wish she was in the titles! Russell has done this for Series 4 but not now :(
The Devil's Chord hits so much harder! I wish they'd at least kept the piano flares from the original theme in it lol. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who found the original re-extension of the theme to be quite jarring, and it's done much better here :)

You fixed all of them, even the Devil's chord one which had to be done carefully because of its premise. Nice job!
Devils Chord is the best one here. Makes sense considering thats my favourite of the episodes this series

I think this version of extending the theme is the best ive seen so far. Comes across fairly natural. I also like the 1st version of 73 Yards. Having no titles works for that episode, but if it did have titles a cold open like you did works best.
Oh, and your version of the Devils Chord titles is really nice!

I half expected you to have tried scrubbing out the “Doctor” in the logo in the second version of the 73 Yards concept. 😆

Rewatched this video on a computer and most of the theme sounds a bit mono until the BBC logo pops up, changing to stereo.
