Loved the concept, didn't like the execution. The transition was not handled well. The switch from just the piano to the full orchestra is just jarring, especially when the two parts have different tempos.

technically just about every Capaldi ep has a one-off title sequence, only one or two are actually synced with the music and sound effects correctly, most are offset by different amounts so the music or intro has to be cut short because the cold opens are written to use the first stinger before the intro video actually starts
another fun fact about the Death in Heaven titles is that unlike the rest of the title sequences where Capaldi's name appears first, it's Jenna Coleman's name that appears first

Say what you will about the quality of 13’s stories, I’ve always been fascinated by how the ‘Flux’ subtitle breaks apart, as if it was touched by those two people whose names I don’t remember.
I'm surprised Voyage of the Damned wasn't included as that was an example of the same titles being used but an updated theme, considering it was a one-off, unless copyright prevented you using it. Same with Dreamland and The Infinite Quest, they had heavily modified titles - the latter even had an animated TARDIS made for the occasion.

'60s and early '70s Who: Completely unique title cards, with some uniquely alterations in the titles. Moffat era Who: We have no idea what we are doing, we tried to mend up this bit and now the titles are always out of sync.
From Series 7 to 10 there were always problems. Series 7A is just AWFUL, Series 7B is an inconsistent mess that barely looks like a Vortex, and Capaldi's was cool, but almost always out of synch.
The current titles aren't much better either. The version seen during the 60th Specials looked unfinished and during Series 14 they were often out of sync again. The Whittaker titles were pretty consistent though.
This needs to be updated with the 60th anniversary title theme, the updated version from series 14 (new series 1) and the piano theme from The Devil’s Chord episode of Series 14
There was also the Wheel in Space that had a different title thing showing the Wheel behind the Titles, And I think if I remember correctly the space pirates had its own title thing. The Seeds of death had its own sequence which at the end of the sequence it would zoom in the moon if we last left off on the moon or on the earth if we last left off on the earth. Or In Space If your trapped on a rocket about to fly endlessly through space. There was also some parts of the Green death where it had the credits upside down, but thats credits not title sequences. I think There are a few other Baker stories with their title sequences miscoloured but I cant remember which ones at the moment. There is also The Five doctors, time and the rani and rememberance of the daleks that all had a sequence that played into the titles but I don't know if that counts for this. Plus the Sort of Zoom Into the eye title sequence from ascension of the cybermen, Reminds me a bit of the key credit sequence from Vampires of venice. Off the Top of my Head That all I can pretty much think of. Idk if any of it is useful.

_Terror of the Autons_ does not use any of Murray Gold’s versions of the title sequence, least of all the mythical one that covers a period that actually used two. (And you also consistently misspelled the word "colouring".)
Something about the version of The Ice Warriors with the woman singing/vocalizing/whatever you want to call it is really haunting and yet a part of me likes it even though it creeps me out. I don't know why that kind of chanting or whatever seems to be associated with ice.
I don't think it's important enough to say you missed it, but at the *end* credits of The Web of Fear, there's added weirdness instead of the usual black screen. Mind you, if it was end credits, you'd also have to include Adric.
All of it was weird. It’s the only season where every story does something unique with the titles (SfS zooms the words; DWatS includes Doctor Who in the story title; TAoD splits the titles in two and adds a sting for "of Death"; and _Inferno_ has volcano footage).
And then the second half changed the intro entire. So glad S7B's intro only lasted for that half of the season, it was godawful. Felt like a shitty fan made one (no offense to the actually good fan made ones)

i love Matt smith’s era so much because everything about the show kept changing in such subtle ways exactly like 11’s adhd. His title sequence having so many different varieties makes so much sense for his character and i hate that no one else here talked about it. The directors went out of their way for his era and it was so, so, so well executed. Truly one of the best eras.

Hate to be nitpicky but Asylum of the Daleks through to The Angels Take Manhattan titles are not series 5-6, they’re series 7 part 1. I love this compilation tho!

The Series 7A titles sequences in 2012 were the most revolting thing Doctor Who has ever churned out, the classic series utilized the alternate titles much better in my opinion.
They also don't mention that Husbands of River Song also has Alex Kingston's credit. Not the only thing that makes that intro unique, but something to note
I think they were going for a "transition from Gillan/Darvill to Coleman" kind of style, overlooking that that doesn't work for numerous reasons. One of them being that the change in the Doctor Who logo, removing the DW in the middle, left the transition from that DW to the TARDIS orphaned, so the DW just pops up on screen out of nowhere. And while the unique textures of the logo and title for each episode might have made sense on paper, they're not well realised.
Based on how the title sequences in series 7 get darker every time, and the weirdly large amount of shots in the episodes focused on flickering lights, and the fact moffat was super overworked at the time, I think there's a strong chance it tied into a plot arc that got cut for some reason.
I do have a fondness for those 60's/70's unique title cards
Jodie Whittaker had one where a cyberman's head is floating in space & it zooms in to the cyberman's eye & you see the title sequence in it.
That was more of a transitional shot to the titles than an alternative title sequence

Mind of Evil also had the Troughton theme. When the credits appeared on Colony in Space, the screen is tinted a pink/purple colour.

i love Matt smith’s era so much because everything about the show kept changing in such subtle ways exactly like 11’s adhd. His title sequence having so many different varieties makes so much sense for his character and i hate that no one else here talked about it. The directors went out of their way for his era and it was so, so, so well executed. Truly one of the best eras.
I kinda wish 7as titles weren't so oversaturated, but I do love that they exist
@@DittoGTI i like the oversaturated style, it matches how matt portrays the vibrant character. It matches his energy for the episode, sometimes correlated to the overall emotion.

@@DittoGTI i don’t think it’s cheap just because it’s simple. sometimes little details like that can help people who notice tiny details have some fun. I personally loved the colors, they felt fun and different, especially for my adhd.

The Series 7A titles sequences in 2012 were the most revolting thing Doctor Who has ever churned out, the classic series utilized the alternate titles much better in my opinion.
As I was watching through S7 and the colouring got further away from usual it left me wondering what was going to happen. I quite liked it

What the hell was going on with the Series 7A title sequences. Awful.
I think they were going for a "transition from Gillan/Darvill to Coleman" kind of style, overlooking that that doesn't work for numerous reasons. One of them being that the change in the Doctor Who logo, removing the DW in the middle, left the transition from that DW to the TARDIS orphaned, so the DW just pops up on screen out of nowhere. And while the unique textures of the logo and title for each episode might have made sense on paper, they're not well realised.
Being real i don't like any of the series 7A or 7B titles
Based on how the title sequences in series 7 get darker every time, and the weirdly large amount of shots in the episodes focused on flickering lights, and the fact moffat was super overworked at the time, I think there's a strong chance it tied into a plot arc that got cut for some reason.
I always thought it was getting darker because it was leading up to the death of the Ponds and it wanted to be forbearing
