Thank you! After watching many videos on pattern brushes, this one cleared up a number of unanswered questions, as well as a couple of tips for Procreate that I hadn't learned yet.
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I’ve been trying to work out how to get the brush stroke to change the size of the pattern and you have answered this for me. I love your style of teaching and have learnt heaps.
I don't still have this palette but you can find plenty online to download. I found this site which might be interesting for you: thehotskills.com/procreate-color-palettes/
All of your videos are so helpful, Helen! I found this Procreate pattern brush tutorial especially good, though. I'd been wondering how to work patterns into Procreate and didn't know this was an option. I'm off to Skillshare to watch your entire class--thank you!!
Wonderful news Kimberly! I am just wrapping up a second Procreate brush class for Skillshare which should go live late this week/early next week - keep an eye out for it - I think you'll like it.
Good question. These pattern brushes are a special type of texture brush. In this case the pattern is the texture and we are taking pains to make it obvious and recognisable. In short we are taking advantage of the features of texture brushes to make them work to our advantage.
Hi Helen . Thank you for the tutorial. Only one question, if I use my brush on the top of the one I just did it the Color on top get stronger , is a way to change that? So the brush stay the same Color . Thank you
@@HelenBradley thank you, because I am new to Procreate and amazed at its possibilities. I will like to sketch fashion figures and clothe them with patterns I have made in AI
Hey Helen this is great thank you! I have both procreate and affinity designer on the iPad and the one thing I miss from illustrator is the easy pattern creation tool. I would never have thought of this! I’ve played around with existing brush settings before but I’ve never tried to upload something new like this. Thanks again 😊
I’m so glad you enjoyed this Holly. I think the pattern making ability of Procreate is getting better all the time. It’s not perfect but it is much better than it was.
Thank you for sharing your videos. Is there a way within affinity to creat a deep embossed effect that can be applied to any or most designs. If there is would you share how to do it? I used to dry emboss by hand. But the older I get the harder it is for me to do by hand. Thanks
Darlene, I am so glad you enjoyed the video. I don't have any videos on Affinity unfortunately. I did find these videos for you, however: ruclips.net/video/sSP937ZMCG8/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/sSP937ZMCG8/видео.html They should give you a good start on creating the effect you want digitally. Let me know how you go?

I've watched so many brush videos but yours actually explained why we chose the settings - i loved that! thanks
Glad it was helpful! I try to help you understand and not just make a brush by clicking things. I am so glad you like that approach.
Wow! What a great tutorial! Super easy to follow and I learned a lot! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

@@HelenBradley Thank you! That makes sense. I'm really excited about pattern brushes now and am looking forward to your next class.
Helen is it normal that when drawing for example the circle the stroke looks sharp but when lifting the pencil the stroke changes to a lot less sharp?
This is amazing! Thank you.
Thank you for your kind comment. If you subscribe to Skillshare look out for my Skillshare class which goes into this in even more detail.
@@HelenBradley thank you, I will!

Unfortunately no. If you don’t want the color to get stronger don’t lift your pencil off the screen until you’re finished drawing with the brush.
Ok. I thought I did something wrong . It was great your tutorial. Thank you so much .
Very helpful video but was wondering can you import a pattern image and turn it into a brush?
Yes you can. But you will need to make sure that your pattern image is the actual pattern swatch so it has to repeat perfectly.
@@HelenBradley thank you, because I am new to Procreate and amazed at its possibilities. I will like to sketch fashion figures and clothe them with patterns I have made in AI
Sounds great. Make sure to use pattern swatches that are square for this, it won't work with just any swatch, but it can be done.
@@HelenBradley thank you for your support for us amateurs
My pleasure
