Thank you for this tutorial. Even though I thought I had the squares lined up the pattern wasn't matching and that was frustrating. But I discovered something I don't think you mentioned in the video (maybe I just missed it). Under Canvas, you can go to Edit Drawing Guide. Tap Symmetry and then tap Options below. Select Quadrant so you'll get both vert and horizontal guides. The squares won't snap to them (like they used to do in PS) but these gold lines show up telling you that you're aligned with them. My second attempt worked out great.
i have watched so many videos on repeat patterns and yours is beyond helpful. i always got stuck on how to continue building up the subject matter and elements...your method solves this problem. thank you!!!!
I can't thank you enough for teaching me this! I understood it no other tutorial on RUclips but here! you don't know how much you're helping me here in my business!
I want to say thank you SO much. I've always been intimidated to make patterns and you made it easy to learn, simple, and didn't over-complicate it. This helped me a ton and I'm going to be able to do so much more with my illustration work this way!!
Your method of composition is probably the best I've seen of these repeating pattern videos. I never could get the balanced look in my designs that your process creates. Thanks for sharing.
Ack! Thank you! I have been failing miserably with trying to make a repeat pattern with the new technique! I watched so many videos and yours made the most sense & was the easiest!
I do not know how much I should thank you. This is the first pattern video that actually worked for me. I tried the tiling method with save and load which din't work, the snapping above below and other areas also didn't work. Yours did. Yayyy
Thank you soooo much!! Helped me solve all the little white lines that kept popping up everywhere! Definitely won't be using simpler methods than this -- fool proof! And I didn't know about the tapping, either!
Oh this makes the process so much easier to follow! thanks so much! I’m working on making custom cardstock to make banners for a few of the seniors on my daughters dance company team :)
Game changer. You have just created the most straightforward, easy video on how to do this and it's made such a difference! Thank you for taking the time to share your tips :)
I like this tutorial a LOT! Its short and to the point, we dont need to arrange elements first just go along the way ✌ absolutely gonna try this thanks!!
Thanks for this! Made my first pattern this morning. Lining up is a pain in the arse, I got it off a few times and didn’t even notice. But got the basic idea!
Holy crap!😳 Beginner here, so kinda fast instruction but, I’ll clearly get the concept and will break it down s-l-o-w-l-y. So excited to learn this technique! Happy new year and thank you!
I’m curious about why you add the black semi transparent layer. I’m thinking it’s to help with lining up the two halves but I’m not 100% certain of that. Great tutorial. Thanks!
Really interesting! I'm learning to make seamless patterns and I'm just really impressed with the fact that you came up with a cute design so quickly. Like, it was very effortless. It takes me a long time to think of something and then I never really like what I come up with so I just end up deleting the designs. It's curious that you saved the design as a jpeg instead of a png - is there a reason why? I like saving as a png because then you can change the background colors and/or you can use the design as a transparency (aka overlay) if you like. Anyway - now I'm gonna go back and try to come up with cute designs off the cuff and see if anything is worth saving/selling/developing. I thought this was the first part of a video that I recently saw where you talked about making multi color brushes or patterns - it had planets and stars and stuff. This obvi isn't that, but gets the same idea across. Like others have said - you explain things well and don't take up too much time doing it. Thanks!
Thank you so much. As a 20 year veteran textile designer using Ned Graphics or U4ia to make my repeats for me it's great to see how to get this done on my iPad which is practically attached to me these days
This is a great video. Thanks so much for posting it! I tried this technique from another instructor and couldn't get it to work, but I was able to follow yours perfectly.
Thank you for this tutorial! I usually do my patterns on Photoshop even if I draw them first on Procreate but now I could just do the whole thing in Procreate. Wonderful. :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial. This is the best and easiest way to go about it that I've tried (and the only one that really works for me). Thank you from the depth of my heart!
Wow thank you so much for the straight forward instructions. I have seen a thousand videos on creating repeats in Procreate but this is the first one where it all clicked. Light-bulb moment- thank you!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this awesome tutorial. Ive watched several pattern tutorials and yours by far is the easiest one i've been able to get right!!!
Thanks for the video this was really helpful. I do have one question though....how did you get the magnetics on? I tried turning on magnetics and turning off snapping but it still does snap and also the symbol on the bottom left corner still appears as snapping.
Thanks for this! I only just got my ipad yesterday and pencil today and been playing around doing this! Thanks so much for this! Is there a way of doing this with background effects? For example making the marbling/ liquify as into seamless? Any help appreciated x
Thank you, very useful tips! May I ask you if you work at 300 or 400 dpi? And if you still don’t know the size of the book you will illustrate, which size would you use? 8x10, 8x12? Or larger? If you could help me with that, I’d appreciate. Thank you 😊
Hey! Love this video it helped so much . I understand how to create objects seamlessly, but im having trouble creating swirls or funky backgrounds with lines seamlessly... any tips? Thanks so much!
This tutorial was so helpful. Im very new to digital art and procreate. I followed to a T and everything was seamless until I tried to repeat once on my own and for some reason I couldn't get the two groups to separate or combine without overlapping or a tiny white space, no matter how much I nudged it. Any suggestions would be helpful. But loved this and I'm going to keep practicing :)
Hi, thank you for your sharing! Can you share which type of file, and which size is normally requested when selling in sites like Microstock websites, of Print on demand sites? Thanks a ton!
Help! I’ve had to redo my pattern like 5 times! I’m being so careful when I’m splitting and moving the layers, but I still end up with a gap! Not even a straight gap! It’s perfect at the top and tapers into a gap at the bottom!
I'm trying this for my current project and I can't seem to get rid of the edge seams. Every time I move it and line it up on one side, I have edges 1 or 2 pixels wide (or tall) on the other. I have no clue how to fix this.
I'm having the same issue. There is a white seem all around the canvas. When I start new work i create a transparency layer above Procreate's backgournd layer. When I hid their white layer I can see this white line on the edge. For the life of me I can't get my image to pattern because of it. grrrr. I've Googled this and no one has an answer. :(
I had the same problem here. but i think i’ve found the solution, try to turn on the 2D grid drawing guide and turn on assisted drawing for each layer. then just move your pattern normally like before. in my case the edge seams dissappear completely. hope this helps
The original square is just one pixel off. I went back and adjusted it a pixel over. You have to figure out which side is like that. For me it was the top and right side.
aa DUDE!! This helped me sooo much!! thank you so much for this video! Especially with the new update the snapping tool helps a lot as well! Im happy the magnetics and snapping tools exist lol
Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting! I had no idea how to create a pattern in procreate and your video was very well put together and fun to watch :-) I just tried it out and it works great!
I often return not only because of how helpful is the video, but honestly this cute little music levels it up so much hehe

@@farafara6682 I’m so happy it helped!
@@BravetheWoods ohh it does! I have been searching for tutorials for days , but somehow I ended up confused :D yours was SO helpful and easy!
This explanation makes perfect sense. While the process isn't necessarily simple to execute, the concept itself is simple to grasp. Thank you!
I can't thank you enough for teaching me this! I understood it no other tutorial on RUclips but here! you don't know how much you're helping me here in my business!

Exactly what I wanted to learn, I always struggled with filling the negative space

That makes me so happy! Glad it helped!
You are my teacher on Domestika! I love your lessons!

Girlnsame! My finger or pen kept bumping so I always messed up the margins
This was a great tutorial! Can you do one for a stamp brush next please :)
