What your favorite quote from this video? Mine is a tie between these two: "She does not look happy, she's definitely pregnant." "You're looking a snack."
I love the fact that they actually explained how the dog was there throughout. It's a very nice detail, and I'm extremely glad the immortality elixir didn't just straight up kill it because that's something a Rusty Lake game would definitely do
The seed Mr Crow got in the end (or in the beginning I guess, cause that happened chronologically first) is the same seed James inherited and planted in the garden at the very beginning of the game. It grew into the tree the beehive fell off on Albert's head, the same tree Frank swing on before falling into the well, the same tree Emma hang herself from, and the same tree that's roots swallowed all the sacrifices and gave William new life.
John, the whole coins-on-the-eyes thing is based on Greek Mythology. The coins are to pay the ferryman, Charon, to take you over the river Styx so you can enter the afterlife. If you don't have coins with you, Charon is going to be all like "Nah, mate" and your soul will be in limbo for the rest of eternity.
Also, despite this comment being 2 years old, came down here to comment that not only is it done for mythology, but when a person dies, their muscles tense up and make their eyelids wide open. You force the eyelids shut and put the coins on them so they stay shut. It's also said that people who die with their eyes open have unfinished business, and since so little people die with their eyes closed, it's sort of poetic about how so little people get true internal happiness.

Hey John great video as always. If you didn’t know why you had to put coins on the eyes of the dead body, it is a tradition in greek mythology to give them money for when they have to pay the toll to Charon the one who would carry the souls of the dead through the river of styxx. Just a fun a fact. Keep up the great vids man!
Yup, and something more, Dale Vandermeer, Dale means valley in English, but sounds like Dutch 'deel' which means part. His name in Dutch is 'part of the lake'
To me, it is only slightly behind Paradise. I do like the fact that the characters are so memorable in Roots in spite of the fact that they don’t talk (especially Albert). But I love the atmosphere in Paradise and I personally like the environment on the island better. On top of that, Paradise will always stick with me in a special way because I figured out the big twist at the end ahead of time and the revelation that a part of the game-lore that I had wanted to to see filled was finally shown made the experience kind of special.
At 56:22 if you remember the secret code for the globe from Birthday, Harvey was attacked by the shadow people and turned into a bird with a bright flash happening. Here we see Harvey coming to Emma at the time a bright flash happened. Yeah Hotel happened at the same as Roots
I had similar thoughts but decided this is incorrect. The scene in the globe was in 1894, at night, and The Search took place in 1891, in the morning, so it seems that white lasers shooting from the Hotel is just a regular occurrence.

Rusty lakes + doodle God. Love the video John and you didn't mention doodle God so I'm guessing you haven't seen it (the ending is that game basically)
I decided to create a timeline while rewatching this. - James died when the 3 sibling are 3 years old. - Sam and Ida meet in 1889, and have Leonard a year later. They get married in 1895. - Frank gets tossed into the well at age 7 in 1891. - Emma commits suicide in 1896, 5 years after Frank disappeared. - Albert kills Ida and Sam in 1904. Leonard is just 14. - Rose is born in 1909. At this time, Frank is 25 and Leonard is 19. - Frank escapes the well after being trapped for 33 years. He is 40 years old, and Rose is 15. - The roots take them in 1935. So Frank was 51, Leonard was 45, and Rose was 26. I find this game fascinating, it’s definitely my favorite in the entire series!

Finally you played it !! And that ending I wasn't expecting it to be like that, but overall it was a great game, rich with story. It kinda explained the other games a little better even though im still confused with some parts lol
But anyways, can't wait for your future play through for the other games !!

At the beginning you are sent to the uncles house with said special seed. Thus ensuring the future.
Rusty lakes + doodle God. Love the video John and you didn't mention doodle God so I'm guessing you haven't seen it (the ending is that game basically)
I'm so happy you decided to keep doing the series and I really appreciate the effort you put into it. It's one of my favorite series ever. Thank you!

"What's he gonna do with the seed??!" He asks as if he didn't plant it with James at the beginning of the game -_-
Bloody hell Albert. This is why you can’t have nice things.
This was so so enjoyable, I am in LOVE with this story. Thanks for playing and sharing it!
Not me screaming "You left the window open Jon!!!" 😂😂
I really enjoyed this Rusty Lake chapter! I loved the Vanderboom's stories and intrigues with eachother. It was full of connections between the characters and I felt pretty envolved with the story and characters. Gotta love you cause you play 'different type games' like this John :)

I’m impressed sir, and I quite enjoyed this video. You’re the first creator to make me want to go through a 2.5 h video and watch until the end. Subbed!
I have loved watching all of the Rusty Lake games on your channel John! I have been watching since you played some random corn game that I loved your commentary on. Keep up the great work.
