- Beat 'em ups are probably the biggest genre on Nintendo Switch thanks to all the SNK classics and ULTRA street fighter 2. But until now there was no fight stick! Well...Hori has answered my prayers once again.

This is cool, reminds me of the arcades of the 1990's. I tell you those were the days. Street fighter was such an awesome game. We'd go through rolls of quarters.
The V doesn't stand for "five", but rather the term Vewlix, which is the button layout. The RAP3, RAP4, etc. are specifically numbered to correspond with the current _Playstation_ and are the Playstation models of the stick. Both the Xbox One and Switch RAP sticks are simply titled RAP V (the letter, not the roman numeral), and are essentially the same thing as the RAP4 only with minor differences. There is currently no such thing as an RAP5 because there is no PS5.

just build a small all in one arcade/emulation carbinet with a cheap pc or a rasperry pi. you´ll probably get away cheaper too. there are tutorials on yt and reddit.

Actually, the "V" in the name "Hori RAP V Hayabusa" is short for the Vewlix (Pronounced "View-licks") button layout. Look up a RUclipsr named Avoiding the Puddle (AKA Aris) and he will explain the Vewlix and Noir (Pronounced "Noor") button layouts.
Yes, but there is a Hori Rap IV for the ps4. The "IV" lacks some features the "V" has.

I really love the aesthetics of that controller. Reminds me a lot of my Hori RAP V4 "Hayabusa" for PS4, which itself lends the artwork and colours from Vewlix F (and maybe bit of C too) cabinet. Almost tempted to buy one... must... resist... :D

Same question I had. All I see is a 3D-printed OLED cabinet that sells for $100+ shipping on Etsy with your choice of color, but includes a cooling fan and USB charge ports. Looks amazing, but I'm not sure about the note about "Remember, your Switch must be turned OFF for it to charge." Maybe you just need a higher-quality cable like the one GenkiThings includes with their Covert Dock. I'd get a Thunderbolt 4 cable just to be safe.
I'd also want a vertical cabinet for vertical games. There's one by Limited Run Games for their release of Mushihimesama, but it sure sounds like it's a limited run. I sort of already have a vertical stand with the Hori Compact Playstand, but putting the Switch vertically on it blocks some vents on the back and having wires come out the sides looks lame.

"Totally different" is a bit much, there's quite an amount of shared ideas and conventions between Beat'em Ups and Fighting games, not to mention themes and devs. Hell, Shadow Over Mystara has some light "Fighting game controls" for its moves and there's Beat'em Up people popping up all over the place in Fighting games.
In Europe, people call fighting games beat 'em ups for some reason.

Saying that beat-em-ups and fighting games being totally different is a "bit much" is like saying hack-n-slash and smash brothers aren't totally different because they both have attacks that change depending on the direction you're holding. Or saying that Kirby and Smash Bros aren't completely different because they share the same creator.

They better release some kind of adapter to work with other hori sticks. I already purchased the RAP tekken 7 edition for the ps4 and already got the HRAP4. I ain't buying another arcade stick til both of em dies

ranchan215 The D-Pad on the pro controller has not felt very satisfying to me unfortunately. I bought it just for that reason and feel disappointed. But the controller is still awesome for ergonomic feel, response, features, etc.
Now that I see this stick though, I'll likely start saving up for it soon.
If you want the small fight pad like controllers the pokken ones now work and are only like 25 bucks :) they are super nice and clicky

this looks dope, I bought type lumina recently and I don't want to have my stick drifting because of tense movements on executing combos.

That is neat. About the only improvement I can think of is getting a pass-thru connector of some kind that would allow one to plug the power adapter in as well as at least one wired controller. Basically, a connecter with a USB-C female and USB-A female to USB-C Male or something to that effect. Wonder if it exists yet.

what if you could get a usb hub, connect it with the usb c adapter to the switch and put both sticks in the usb hub for 2 players?
I have both X-arcade and X-tention stick. I'm wondering If I could just buy that mini adapter he had and play like that. I have a cabinet, that would be nice if it works. If it does it's a guaranteed way I will have the switch forever. Only touching the stick nothing else. How can you break it if it's locked inside a cabinet. You can't. That's the main reason I don't have a switch right now. Looks to easy to break.

I would get a small monitor and maybe have a wooden cabinet like that built around it that maybe could also hold the rap thing and put the monitor inside it so it would be closer to a real arcade machine.

That's what it's for. There are people who grew up playing fighting games in 1995 on the arcade. They buy this because they are used to playing on an arcade stick compared to a pad. A common misconception is that you need an arcade stick to play fighting games properly. That's not the case. You can use a controller as well. It's all based on preference.

Imagine some guy custom builds an arcade cabinet that has a switch dock build into it so you can just slide the switch in and go straight to arcade games.
