    I also noticed that it became necessary to shampoo and clarify because of product buildup 😭😂. I think low porosity hair is also more susceptible to product buildup.

    Tying up hair too much will cause breakage, hair needs air. So I even cut small holes in my silk bonnet.

    • @naturallyshen
      @naturallyshen  5 месяцев назад +3

      Yea the hair really needs air. I have a silk pillowcase, so when I’m not going to bed and just laying in my bed I can still let my hair breathe while still protecting my ends

      Hair is dead though, so why would it need air? Do you mean the scalp needs air? I'm genuinely asking because this is the first time I've ever heard of this and I wear a bonnet every night.

    • @naturallyshen
      @naturallyshen  5 месяцев назад +12

      @@doll.ov.poetrii4682 yes the scalp, not the hair. The roots and the hair follicle that is below the skin surface is alive and and the cells are actively dividing. But the hair that we see is a dead protein. That’s why you don’t feel pain when cutting your hair, but feel pain when it’s pulled from the root.

    Trust me the only hair that's dead is when it's off the body. The root is the most alive part and the hair had the ability to observe moisture not just from the root but along the shaft. So when the hair is covered for long periods moisture is trapped and it becomes more weak and susceptible to breakage. Yes, if air gets in through the bonnet it relies some moisture.

    Do you have a video on how you keep your hair moisturized throughout the week? Also, can you do a video of all the hairstyles you wear?

    • @naturallyshen
      @naturallyshen  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! I have a short of how I moisturize my plaits, which is similar to how I normally moisturize-it’s the 7th short. I will make a proper video on that when I take my twists out. I’ll also make a video on the hairstyles I wear as well. Thanks for the suggestion 🧡

    Funny enough, I get more single stand knots with my hair in twist and braid outs. Wash and goes keep my hair from tangling

      I really wish mine didn’t cause I love wash and gos 😭. This really shows that everyone’s hair is different and you have to learn and do what works for your hair.

    • @gentlestormwyatt
      @gentlestormwyatt 5 месяцев назад

      You know what? I feel the exact same way. I have low porosity hair! Whenever I would wear my hair out in twist outs or braid outs after a few days, I realized I was getting a lot of single strand knots. I think it’s OK to have knots, and split ends, but when you get a higher rate of them, that’s when it’s problematic. We forget that we have to keep up with our trims, at least quarterly or even three times a year but a lot of people don’t do that and wait years to get a trim, and wonder why there’s damage to their hair.
      In doing washing goes, I’ve realize that I can’t wait a whole week to re-wash and reset my hair. I have to go in and cowash at least once during the week. So for example, I washed my hair yesterday. In a few days when my hair gets dry, It’s time to cowash i.e. adding moisture and water back into the hair. And then in a few more days, I will reset my hair with a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing shampoo, deep condition, and style. This is the key to mastering those wash and goes. 💕🙌🏽🙌🏽

    • @gentlestormwyatt
      @gentlestormwyatt 5 месяцев назад

      @@naturallyshenI agree but I also wonder how often you’re cowashing and washing your hair to add moisture into it. Or are you only washing your hair once a week and allowing it to get dry before you wash it again 😢

      @@naturallyshen yes! For me (I have 4a 4b low porosity hair ignore the picture that was a twist out) the tight curl clumps keep my hair from moving too much and retangling. I get more issues with twistouts for sure
