Natural hair journey🫶🏾
Hi lovelies, welcome to my channel!
I have been natural for 13 years now and I cut my hair short in between. I’ve journeyed through transitioning from relaxed to natural, doing wash and go’s on my type 4b/c hair, straightening and getting heat damage, to nursing it back to health.
Along the way, through trial and error, i have passed each growth plateau by listening to my hair, and care for it the way it needs. I hope to encourage, teach and inspire hair care through my hair journey.

Thanks for your review, you were awesome! Thanks to you I am going to try this 2 step treatment and stay blessed!!
Yes mam!!!!! I will never go back! This is now a staple product! I get the family size on Amazon. I used to get a large aloe Vera left or two smalls ones, cute the center out and blend with clove/rosemary water. It was a tedious process but the slip is amazing. Then I decided to try this product and it cut out the hassle. My hair has improved with every use!!! Many still don’t know about this product lol 😂 they don’t know what they are missing!!! Melts all tangles away fast and easy with moisture retention! And the price is amazing!
I love the Yuka app. It helps me to make better choices. I use up the products and just never rebuy but I was t throwing out 😆🫣
Too much work for me. A buzz cut and a wig.
i thought the info was inaccurate because yuka doesn’t measure dosages?
Oh interesting. I haven’t heard that claim, but I’ll look into it
I got that app and it helps me a lot great video btw ^^
Yea, it’s a great app! Thanks for watching
Great tips. Beautiful hair!!! New subbie!
Thank you! Welcome 🧡
So how do you know when the cycles starts? Like the 3-7 year growing phase?
Do you have a video on how you keep your hair moisturized throughout the week? Also, can you do a video of all the hairstyles you wear?
Hi! I have a short of how I moisturize my plaits, which is similar to how I normally moisturize-it’s the 7th short. I will make a proper video on that when I take my twists out. I’ll also make a video on the hairstyles I wear as well. Thanks for the suggestion 🧡
What are some other options for twisting and braiding hair cause it gives me alot of headache??🥺😭
Hello, how can we contact with you?
Hi, you can email me at naturallyshen@gmail .com
@@naturallyshen Thank you😘
Thank you! Will definitely give this a try!
Very informative ❤
Thanks for watching 🧡
Funny enough, I get more single stand knots with my hair in twist and braid outs. Wash and goes keep my hair from tangling
I really wish mine didn’t cause I love wash and gos 😭. This really shows that everyone’s hair is different and you have to learn and do what works for your hair.
You know what? I feel the exact same way. I have low porosity hair! Whenever I would wear my hair out in twist outs or braid outs after a few days, I realized I was getting a lot of single strand knots. I think it’s OK to have knots, and split ends, but when you get a higher rate of them, that’s when it’s problematic. We forget that we have to keep up with our trims, at least quarterly or even three times a year but a lot of people don’t do that and wait years to get a trim, and wonder why there’s damage to their hair. In doing washing goes, I’ve realize that I can’t wait a whole week to re-wash and reset my hair. I have to go in and cowash at least once during the week. So for example, I washed my hair yesterday. In a few days when my hair gets dry, It’s time to cowash i.e. adding moisture and water back into the hair. And then in a few more days, I will reset my hair with a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing shampoo, deep condition, and style. This is the key to mastering those wash and goes. 💕🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@naturallyshenI agree but I also wonder how often you’re cowashing and washing your hair to add moisture into it. Or are you only washing your hair once a week and allowing it to get dry before you wash it again 😢
@@gentlestormwyattwhen I was doing wash and gos, each day or every 2 days, I’d refresh my hair with water and a leave in. It never got dry
@@naturallyshen yes! For me (I have 4a 4b low porosity hair ignore the picture that was a twist out) the tight curl clumps keep my hair from moving too much and retangling. I get more issues with twistouts for sure

Exactly!
I'm a new subbie. Just found your channel 🎉 Yeah, I stopped co-washing and constant high puffs last year and it makes a big difference
Welcome 🤗 ! It makes the biggest difference. Cause it also makes you more intentional in taking care of your hair
Trust me the only hair that's dead is when it's off the body. The root is the most alive part and the hair had the ability to observe moisture not just from the root but along the shaft. So when the hair is covered for long periods moisture is trapped and it becomes more weak and susceptible to breakage. Yes, if air gets in through the bonnet it relies some moisture.
Tying up hair too much will cause breakage, hair needs air. So I even cut small holes in my silk bonnet.
Yea the hair really needs air. I have a silk pillowcase, so when I’m not going to bed and just laying in my bed I can still let my hair breathe while still protecting my ends
Hair is dead though, so why would it need air? Do you mean the scalp needs air? I'm genuinely asking because this is the first time I've ever heard of this and I wear a bonnet every night.
@@doll.ov.poetrii4682 yes the scalp, not the hair. The roots and the hair follicle that is below the skin surface is alive and and the cells are actively dividing. But the hair that we see is a dead protein. That’s why you don’t feel pain when cutting your hair, but feel pain when it’s pulled from the root.

Great video, i totally agree but some teams used, I’m not familiar with, (Example, Co- Wash) so we know exactly not to do.
Co-wash is when you wash your hair with conditioner instead of with shampoo

I also noticed that it became necessary to shampoo and clarify because of product buildup 😭😂. I think low porosity hair is also more susceptible to product buildup.

I appreciate your honesty & bravery regarding products (your stylist watching 👀). For me, Kenra's heat protective serum is lighter on the hair than the Fantasia serum. Costs 3x more though. I want to try the Color Wow serum. I have coarse 4c hair.
😆🙈 I didn’t know Kenra had a heat protective serum, I’m definitely going to try that. I don’t mind paying more, if it’s something that’s going to protect my hair and is better than a serum that’s not even really a heat protectant lol. I just found out that olaplex bonding oil is also a heat protectant, so I’m curious about that too
Thankyou
You’re welcome. Hope it was helpful and you try pre-pooing
Great video

What blow dryer do you use?
I use the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Styler. It’s the paddle brush blow dryer, not the rounded brush

Hi dear❤ i just subscribed to your channel 😊 i have been natural for years and i love it ❤ The issue is i am type 4 hair and i am totally confuse on how to grow my hair, don't know the tools to use, what to do to maintain it, etc... am a total beginner please what can i do to start my hair growth journey in 2024? Any videos u recommend i should start? Any tips or suggestions on what to do? Please help thank u
Hi 👋🏾 thanks for subbing 🫶🏾. What is your current routine?
@@naturallyshenHi dear i don't have any current hair routine I just only wash my hair and plait thats all
@@halimayusuf8007 Oh okay. No worries, we can start you on a simple routine. When you wash your hair, start with a pre-poo, do a hot oil treatment. Wash your hair with shampoo, then deep condition with heat for 20-30mins, and rinse it out. After washing your hair, moisturize your hair. Use a moisturizer that you like, if you don’t have one, you can try the TGIN Daily Moisturizer, then seal it with oil. Use Jamaican Black Castor oil or any of your choice, then plait it. While in plaits, oil your scalp twice a week, and moisturize your plaits once a week. My second short shows how I moisturize my plaits. Suggestion (I’m not a doctor, so I can only suggest, you don’t have to do it because you may not need it): start taking multivitamins or hair growth vitamins.
@@halimayusuf8007 Some youtubers that I’d suggest watching are: Curly Proverbz, Seun Okimi and Eugenia Kelcy
Hope that helps!
Hi what are your holy grail products
Hi 👋🏾. TGIN Buttercream Daily Moisturizer, African Pride pre-shampoo, and an ayurvedic hair oil that I make. I’ll make a video soon with all my products
My hair is like yours. When it is out and washed, it's given full, but once braided, it gives Angelica's doll Cynthia baldness. I love it
😂 not Cynthia! Lol but it really does look like that 😭. It’s okay, Cynthia was loved
Saaaame.😂
Me toooo lol
please don’t lie to me 157th youtube video😭
I promise I’m not lying 😄. It’s okay, be patient with yourself and your journey. Sometimes it takes a while, but be consistent with what you implement. Try it for at least a month and if your hair likes it keep going
Thissss!😂
Hey Sis, how often do you blow dry your hair? 😊
Heyy, I blow dry every wash day. I wash my hair once a month on average, sometimes it’s less, sometimes it’s more if it’s in extensions. I always use heat protectant, and I’ve never experienced heat damage
That’s great, seems to be working for you. ☺️
Great video! Your hair looks great! All your tips have proven to be beneficial for my hair. I’ll be interested in seeing if you prefer braids over twists. I wear braids for a protective style. Although twists look better, my strands move waaay too much, so tangles show up quick! Then that requires more maintenance which doesn’t keep my hands out of my hair. I put MSM in my scalp spritz, but I drink fenugreek water daily. Looking forward to seeing more videos! 🌺🌸
Thanks! I prefer the look of twists better as well, but if my hair prefers braids I will mainly stick with it. I’m glad you’ve figured out what works for you and your hair. Definitely smart doing a style that requires less manipulation when trying to retain length. I want to try drinking fenugreek, but I’m scared of the bitterness 😅 Thanks for watching the video🫶🏾
I understand. Ive been drinking it every night for almost 7 months and got used to the bitterness….I don’t even think about it now. 😅
@@A_Wilson oh wow! Have you been finding that it works?
@naturallyshen Well, my hair is thriving, but it’s hard to just say it’s just the fenugreek water. My hair has been in flat twists, corn rows or braids for the last 10 months. I’ve been using Ayurvedic masks, oils and infused Shea butter to strengthen and coat my strands. I’ve been on top of my moisture and hydration game as well. So it could be combination of it all. ☺️I do know for sure that what I’m doing is definitely working! My plan is to keep medium braids in till the end of the year and prayerfully I’ll reach my length goal! 💜☺️
Inches 😍😍
😄🧡🧡
The style turned out real nice, great job! 🌺
Thank youu 🫶🏾
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Hey sis! This is on par with my new hair growth plan. Im going to use avocado oil at night to maintain my ends. Far as protective styling braids or twists for 4 weeks. Then i may wear my hair out for a week or 2. I like msm for a supplement. I love the beads as well, i feel like my ends are more protected more when i wear the beads too. 🎉🎉❤
Yes love to hear it 👏🏾! This is such a great routine. And avocado is a light oil, so it penetrates the hair shaft. I’m not taking an msm supplement, I do have it in my diy hair oil, but maybe I’ll try it as a supplement. Yes, the beads are added protection 😂. Thanks for sharing what you’re doing, and please keep me updated, I’d like to know how it goes! 🫶🏾
