I know what you mean, because I grew up in an old house in Virginia, in the country.
And I KNOW that the house and property land was haunted.
The summer of 1983 when I left home at 17 yrs.old, I was only gone a month, and I had come back to visit and pick up some things, and as I was walking around on the property, I could feel the spirits communicating with me, saying, "It's nice to have you back".
(It wasn't spoken words, but a "thought" communication).
And when I was a child, 9 or 10, I had tried to sleep downstairs on the couch, in the basement first floor den area, because that old house had no air conditioning.
And anyone that lives back east coast states, knows what I mean about how hot and muggy it is at night during the summer. (I was just trying to stay cool, sleeping down in the basement).
Well, while I was still awake, and had just newly laid down on the couch, I kept hearing light whispering in my ears, and then gentle light playful tapping on my ankles, like the spirits were determined not to allow me to go to sleep!
At first, I had thought that if I ignored it, that they would stop and leave me alone.
But no, it just continued to get more and more, until I really became frightened, and I ran up two flights of stairs, back to my hot and stuffy bedroom on the top floor, I was so scared!!
Other things happened in that house, and on that property, that I wouldn't mind sharing, but I've probably exceeded my limit telling you all of this.
Sorry if I overwhelmed you. 🤓

It’s absolutely stunning. So well done. With a loving care, in such a delicate way. Some “renovations” cause severe harm to the old houses. You had brought the place to its initial glory. Thank you for your kind efforts. If those people who lived there 200 years ago could see the place today they would be so happy and grateful to you.

To: JLK &, SF: Your restoration of the colonial is aptly beautiful. A glimpse surely is not enough by which to meet your home. One must be allowed to gaze throughout all its interior rooms. Most interesting are all the adjunct structures attached to the main house. You might tell us the usage of each building and as much history as you may know of them. Behind the video camera, the exterior grounds appear to be a relaxing diverse ramble. -In longevity of happy days and best of health. // D.C

I've stopped the viewing at 2:00, just letting the shades of GREEN and the perfection of those graceful swags and drapings give a sumptuous beginning to the day. Miss Ellen's portieres and the sounds and scents of decades of glorious gatherings in that grand old place---I knew it was going to be awesomely beautiful, but this one swath of green should be published---the greeting glimpse as you enter that portal to another time. I have the silly notion that I want to enlarge it and use it on our TV for tea-times and little home occasions, much as we use a video of someone else's glowing fire throughout the holiday season. I can just imagine having a wall-size version as a mural---a crowning exemplar of the art after all those seaside views and leaf-floored forests of the sixties. Simply stunning.

Thank you Kevin, I would love to see the rest of your beautiful home. After restoring a Victorian stone townhouse in Keswick, in the English Lake District, I know first hand that restoring an old house is like tossing money into a bottomless pit. Very rewarding to see the results of one's hard work, but can also be very expensive, because one thing leads to the next. A Listed Property in a Conservation Area means that all renovations must resemble the original as closely as possible. Custom made iron gutters, for example cost a fortune compared to the cheap plastic variety in vogue today. I would like to think that the new owners will love the old features as much as I did, but there is no telling. These days, not everyone appreciates the charm of quaility Victorian decor. I still love Victorian furniture, old paintings, antique items as well as beautiful china and linens, but now, they are in a relatively modern bungalow. The old brings a feeling of luxury, and the new takes away stuffiness and adds a feeling of freshness, each compliments the other. I especially love seeing your pets, they are adorable! And, your cooking demonstrations, as well as all the beautiful plants and flower decorations around your house. Can't forget to mention the warmth of a real fire in the hearth, and ofcourse your are always so gracious and welcoming, Kevin! It is a real pleasure to watch your videos and so relaxing too.

Beautiful house. You’ve done a lovely job, really like the Matador on top of the Newel post. It looks like the eavestrough at the front needs some attention, things are growing out a top and wood is falling off. Looks like it’s rotting your steps. One of those jobs you’ve got to do. You might try sewing the slits in the red carpet On the treads of the staircase, with a curve needle and closing them. match the colour of the carpet on the steps you can use a yarn and a thread it will make it last much longer and be invisible. You can colour in the beige web with a red magic marker before you start Sewing. It’s so much fun living in these old houses it’s like a museum you’re very fortunate enjoy every moment.

Kevin I loved what you have shown so far. I look forward to more inspiration. My hubby and I bought a victorian built in 1890 in slightly better shape than the condition you found yours.. Im torn with which direction to go in decorating the house. I have such variety of tastes from victorian to primitive to farmhouse. I know the styles dont blend well, however some of the rooms were added later and the previous owner family left all the antiques and momentos here for us as part of the house sale. The octagon shaped bedroom had the same wallpaper in blue and white with a little sparkle.. Its peeling and falling off and I hate it. but your video is making me thing twice about getting rid of it completely. I also have the same style drapings in the room.
