I just stumbled across your channel and I'm really glad that I did! I just hit the subscribe button and I'm looking forward to future videos as you finish off this amazing mansion. The work so far has been amazing!
What you are doing is what dreams are made of! I'm off now to binge watch your previous videos.
Hey Kevin😊 I just wanted to let you know that I just found this video too, and I will be watching all of their videos too. Amazing attention to detail, isn't there!!
Ha ha, same here. Just found this channel!
Ditto!
@Kevin Keswick Wow! After I wrote my comment I read yours & at first I thought it was my comments bc that’s exactly what I was thinking. But, I reworded mine before I typed & submitted it! But yours was well said!!

As a poor man, at seventy three, I am filled with envy yet happy for all of you who did the transformation. Were I wealthy enough to do just this, I would pick the outskirts of some town that needed work for all of its citizens an literally knock out all the unemployment of the area. Even people who are imprisoned in local areas could use their handywork. From scratch to finish, a old west theme or even multi areas of interest
That's why you're poor.
@@Uryendel Riiight. Because wealthy people have never got the local community employed on an architectural project. Except a hundred thousand times throughout history, from the Romans to the Victorians. And that's why you're ignorant.
In fairness, the chateau probably cost him the same as a two bedroom house in London.
@@Uryendel Because he wants to rejuvenate an area? 🤨
@@Dom0o0o basically yes, wishful thinking disconnected from reality, sounds like the type of guy that if you give him a billion dollars he would have nothing left by the end of the month and would have spent it all in dumb shit
Not even talking about the condescending though that the people in that area (who are probably richer than him) are some miserable that need his help
There are 4000 abandoned houses in Italy... people! please get to work!
Love how you saved this beautiful house... all the best!
If only there was work!!!
An extended family can buy a beautiful estate, fix it up, possibly farm the land but they'd need to work too and that's the problem. 😢😢😢
JJ - Is this house in Italy?
When you save a beautiful old house, you of course enjoy the pleasure of making it your home but you also deserve the satisfaction of knowing that you have benefitted society. You have rescued beauty and heritage that would otherwise have been lost. Thank you, and congratulations.
I live in America and my husband and I spent 4 yrs renovating 1/2 of a 2 room school house back in the 90’s. My husband was a carpenter and it was what we thought would be our forever home. However we ended up selling it and moving to a traditional home because we ran out of funds and motivation. At the end of your journey I would love to know your cost and hours spent. Both must be astronomical! I love all your thought and care put into everything. Best wishes for completion of this amazing project!
I love that the younger generations are getting into buying old homes that for sure has great memories. I’m sure the former owners wherever they are , are very very delighted for restoring the glory of their former properties. God bless you new owners around the world.
Thank God for people that are smart enough to get how important it is to keep really beautiful and wonderful homes so more generations can see and enjoy homes like this. God Bless you 🙂🙂🙂
Fantastic!! and this is our old villa! look ruclips.net/video/cAbaru-diBA/видео.html
I can't help but think how those same former inhabitants would be so psyched about the pool and varied use rooms! And the wine cellar! Wow, this is so awesome~ I'm glad it was recommended to me.
I'm a retired designer and have been involved in hundreds of major projects involving both new and remodeled sites. I am simply floored by your artistry, diligence, and hard work. I would have guessed you had twenty to thirty craftsmen working full time, and architects and engineers overseeing the complete projects.
I will go back and watch the complete series. YOU FOLKS ARE AMAZING!
I just saw this vlog and immediately recognized you both from Escape to the Chateau (I hope I remembered correctly, as there are various French country home programs). I am immediately curious about the chateau in this vlog... is this property near or adjacent to the property you used for your quite wonderful wedding receptions?
Edd, I also recall that your parents had an impressive property that you and Ana took over management when your parents retired. I loved the detail of your receptions and special care for your guests.
This new project, I just need to tie it in to my very pleasant memories from another TV program.
I too have restored many properties, from a 1703 house on Eastern Long Island, to several 1900s houses in the same area. And a "castle" in Southern Spain near Seville and some 19th and early 20th century homes on Ibiza, Spain. It has been so rewarding to restore every property to its most authentic past as possible. I truly admire you both.
William
Msybe not he may already know what hes doing he's actually doing his iwn electronics in the place he said he sac6his election! Do there you go ..hes going to save thousands, and thousands of big bucks doing it on their own !
That's what I thought, that they were directing a crew!!! And then you see him on the floor laying hardwood ... Wow! So impressive!
@@williambrooke6266 how wonderful !!! It's so beautiful giving new life to old, neglected properties, homes .... I've only watched, haven't done it myself, but it's so satisfying!
As our honest, intelligent, motivated and ambitious population is being replaced with those that don’t have these attributes, these things will fall into disrepair again, and eventually the west will become a Third World.
As a builder’s daughter I congratulate you on the magnificent job you did on the renovations to this beautiful historical home.
It always amazes me that there are such grand structures like this that have been allowed to fall into such a state of disrepair and neglect.
The French inheritance laws and death duties cripple most estates.
Know a member of the French aristocracy whose chateau had been in the family for hundreds of years and lost it to French inheritance rules, taxes, etc. They had hundreds of years of history with the area. All the furniture and paintings and carpets were too big for anywhere else.
Heritage lost for the area and the family.
I know, I was shocked to realize this. Just astonishing
@@birdsndog5932so, so sad and wrong
@@marnaehrech1223 - it has devastated their family. Makes me sad every time I see this.
One of course appreciates the desire to save the castles. Likely the new owners are in a better position to salvage their historical architecture. But the local connection, sometimes generational for multiple families, is lost.
The hard work that both of you Ed and Anna have put into this house, along with the wedding business and raising you 2 little ones is amazing. Americans call your room a mud room.
WOW! I’m 80 and have worked hard most of my life and I can’t tell you how much of this work I couldn’t have done because of time and exhaustion. Everyone deserves a big pat on the back. Beautiful!
In America it is called a mud room, but where the washer and dryer go is called the laundry room.
After watching all of the Chateau DIY shows on TV, I just ran across this channel. You two were my favorite couple in that entire series. You don't seem to fight the way the others do. Always a pleasure to watch with your endless hard work, wedding hosting and family time. Simply wonderful!
The amount of work you have done is simply MIND-BOGGLING!! Hearty Congrats.
Lovely children - even more important than houses!!
Agreed! These guys are the master of understatement. Unbelievable amount of work, money, and love put into this mansion. Congratulations
Restoring, say, a 2500 square foot home to its former glory is one thing. But restoring a mansion, with the endless details present in all those rooms......that's another thing altogether. This is a magnificent home. I hope you derive enormous satisfaction in every glance.
It’s wonderful you to have even saved original plants and bushes and beautiful trees around the mansion. I applaud to you
I am a native of Gradignan, and although I haven’t lived there in over thirty years, I have always liked the old mansions one can find in the region surrounding Bordeaux. Thank you for all the hard work you have put into renovating this old beauty. I salute you for your vision, your effort and your willingness to get it done! Bravo! 👏
Oh my! I can’t believe that before photo is the same house! Well done, you’ve created a very special home! 👍❤️
Found this vid by accident...what a gem! The work you and your wife put in, is amazingly impressive. A gorgeous home. I hope as your children grow up, they appreciate this legacy in the making. Looking forward to the renovation progress.
Fantastic!! and this is our old villa! look ruclips.net/video/cAbaru-diBA/видео.html
Do you really think it was by accident 😉
@@renatoazevedo9514 A good "accident"😉
A “Happy accident”! 🎨🖼️
@@smilinacha for sure!
Your mansion has become a true luxury home, with a bright modern feel that works in seamlessly with the original architecture.Your choice of colors everywhere has really made the transformation stunning
It is the most satisfying feeling to work hard at something and then sit back and enjoy…….the look on his face ……..pride,joy and satisfaction…….kudos to you both ❤️
This was a wonderful trip “down memory lane” for those of us who have been watching from the beginning! You both have done an amazingly beautiful job of the renovation. “Renovation” seems too simple a word for what you have created with all of the days and weeks of hard work. Congratulations and thank you for the vlog! 💕🇨🇦
Yes. Lots of good memories! Thanks!
I started after the extension. Had no idea they even built that !!!
Wow, do you have a treat in store for yourself catching up! You have to watch each week’s progress to appreciate the level of expertise and decor from Ed and Anna plus see their two adorable children - Charles and Emma - ‘lending a hand.’ 😅👌💖
Having done a complete renovation on my current 2900sq ft house, I understand the hard work that goes into making a bomb site into a home. All the headaches, unplanned changes etc. You have done a stupendous job on this house and should be very proud of your achievements. I salute you for taking on such a huge project. It is fabulous.
Fantastic!! and this is our old villa! look ruclips.net/video/cAbaru-diBA/видео.html
WOW, you all did an INCREDIBLE JOB in FIVE YEARS!!!! Hard to believe it!!!! What a GORGEOUS ESTATE!!!!
I can't even imagine how much all of this costs including the house itself. Wow! I can't even afford to replace some rotting wood on my 1885 farmhouse that I will never live to own even though I've been here for 30 years this December.
What a beautiful masterpiece of a home. The Gold Leaf on the rungs of the open stairway is gorgeous. You're lovingly restoring this Mansion without interrupting it's natural blueprint. Can't wait to see the rest of your progress.
A beautiful mansion is hard to renovate but you two are doing a great job. It is turning out fabulously grand.
How beautiful. It makes me sad that our world (well "my" part of the world, U.S 🙄) doesn't have the same architectural soul they had in the "old days". Its bizarre too, they had so much less to use to create these majestic structures but yet there's SO much more detail and always a grand, towering presence.
Truly a grand house!❤
Such thoughtful restoration. Keeping the integrity of the house.
It’s a shame the kitchen is always the last thought.
The kitchen cabinets are a perfect contrast to the stone! Lovely.
You should both be very proud of what you've done there. Especially all the backbreaking work that Edd put into that place. It's incredible looking. I'm excited to see it get to the decorated stage and I want to see you at least spend a weekend there enjoying it. I hope you at least enjoyed the pool this summer. You worked so hard on it.
So happy you all saved and restored this beautiful property. Sell this for a nice profit and purchase the one you found last week and bring it back to life. Love following you all. All the best!
Ahhh, yes, girls and their power tools and heavy machinery. Love it! Get them started early learning those skills… 🎉🎉🎉
I am always amazed to find Billy Petherick on someone else's channel as he really has his hands full with his own beautiful chateau and the convent as well . Billy and his family are all such lovely helpful people . You/ve done an amzing job giving new life to a once abandoned mostly dilapilated mansion . I'll now hit the subscribe button and do a bit of binge watching while you '' crack on '' .
Great tour! Once again, I am so impressed with your sustained vision, commitment and energy for such a huge project. I don’t think I could stay motivated for just the parlour!! Concurring the learning curve for all the needed skills alone is enough to earn our admiration. Add to that the application of those skills to create something so beautiful and it’s bewildering. Can’t wait to see it completed. And on top of it all, you’re such a lovely couple.
I just want to stand up & applaud you two! You work so hard, are so honoring to each other, & do such articulate artistry in your renovations! Anna, as long as I live I will not forget when you were preparing for a wedding and worked until everything was exquisitely precise & then went to the hospital to have your baby!!! I'm signing up to be your American mama! So proud of you both! You're such good human beings! Well done!
Adding an extension is the _most_ British thing ever, love it 😂
It's amazing to look back to the start of the Passion Project and see how far you have come with the renovations. I can't believe it's been 5 years already! You and Anna are remarkable. Make sure you look after your back Edd!💛🍺😎🍺🌴🌴
In the States, if it is a room with mainly a washer and dryer, it would be called a laundry room. If the room has laundry but also other uses (extra storage, hot water heater, main electric box), then we call it a utility room. A mud room is typically an informal entry room where you take off/put on your shoes and coats and store those items.
Love seeing the before and after photos and video. Amazing how much work you have accomplished in a year and a half. You are both such hard workers.
The work you two have done is remarkable, it is truly an act of love that brings back the splendor of the house. As for those who do not like painted wood, well the truth is that some wood is simply rather ugly and does nothing to enhance the space, I for one believe that not all wood is worth preserving.
This house exudes so much character and nostalgia. The renovation is of such high quality. I can't believe you managed that in five years. Even with a lot of help, that's still commendable. The use of the colors and the fact that you have left many things original also contribute to the character of the house. The first thing I thought of when I saw the facade of the property was Villa Volta. That is an attraction in the amusement park De Efteling in the Netherlands. You could put this building in the park as it looked before the renovation. I like this kind of houses because of the warm elegant look. Good job!!
The entry took my breath away- the colors, details, everything- I’m just so jealous but you guys have earned this - it’s spectacular
Blown away by your progress. Ed, you and Anna have created a masterpiece. So glad you took on this project. I have been so impressed with your perseverance and still watching from PA, USA.
It's amazing that a building can be 'protected', yet they allow other buildings to be placed practically on top of it. You've done beautiful work so far!!
What a gorgeous facade on the front of the house, and the size of the new pool was impressive. This was awe inspiring to watch. The amount of sheer hard labour to get a building that old and in need of repair is enormous. I can understand why local council want heritage buildings to stay within code, but why don't they also foot the bill to do so. Thankyou so much.
Bravo is a word that pales in comparison to how I feel watching you transform what was into what is and will be. I must say, it is quite evident you put a lot of thought, hard work and love into this house. I can only imagine, after having been abandoned, how much good energy is flowing through its walls again. I am quite sure this house feels loved again. God Bless and Cheers from California.
👏🙏🏆 My thoughts exactly ! 🏆🙏👏 I am a former Californian myself.
I'm in Bordeaux. Can I participate? With rebuilding.
I've been watching from the beginning. So glad you did this video as it was a reflection of all the hard work you guys have done in a short time. With a family to care for , finding time to renovate a chateaux is unbelievable. Beautiful family!! Great job!!
You two have some of the best taste and do the most quality work. I am always impressed with the both of you but Ed, your attention to detail and quality is superb. You and Anna have a lovely family, too.
What a wonderful adventure you Folks are having.
Very well done on all you are doing, what a difference you have made and brought this fabulous building to life. Looking really great and the shutters will really give it an air of history without doubt, you are preserving everything that can be beautifully restored and making a superb job all round. Love this and thanks for the viewing.
Just found your channel/Vlog and really appreciate that you haven't really changed the character of the place that much. I get the impression that the people who lived here 200 years ago would recognize the place, except for the electrical wizardry of our day ! Thanks for taking the time to show us around, I can already see myself immersed in previous videos.
Just stunning! You should both be extremely proud of the incredible amount of work you've achieved. You've managed to bring back the incredibly beautiful old world charm and elegance while adding wonderful fresh elements that appeal to today's lifestyle. I'm so happy for you both - an incredible inspiration to us all!
So nice to see the progress made on your “passion project” from the the rubble to richness. You’ve poured tons of love into this and it is definitely grand!!! Thank y’all for bringing us along with you and I’ve enjoyed ever bit of your vlogs, your family, flowers, wedding, friends and celebrations. Can’t wait to see more 🥰 See yah soon X💋X
This is just a beautiful wakeup on Sunday 10/23/2022 🙂 coffee and restoration of historic properties. The salon... what can anyone say..other than how fabulous you both did in this project. Thank you so much 😀 for having the heart and soul to endeavor. Truly wish more people here in the USA, being a very young country, would have the same respect and responsibility 🙂
The work you and Anna are putting is looking very good. How incredible! It's wonderful seeing old become new again. I'm going to continue to watch your future videos just to see all the beautiful care and work the two of you are putting in. And France is one of our favorite and lovely place to visit. We plan on moving to Barcelona as our retirement and have already started looking for our little fixer upper as well. You've inspired us to just go for it.
You’re both simple amazing. What a beautiful young family. I love the way you love on your children. And yes, all the very hard work you’ve put into this fabulous house. I can actually feel your passion for this now “home” and hope you’ll be able to keep it and raise those two sweetie’s there. ❤️
Edd and Anna the mansion is coming out beautiful. I can’t believe all the hard work and labor you both have put into this mansion. The patience it takes to allow for quality and excellent workmanship to obtain the grandeur you have given. As always my loves. Take care and stay safe and beware of false prophets 🍺👍🎈❤️🌈🇺🇸😇🌞🌹🕊🙏
The work you have done/are doing is truly phenomenal - and all down to creative planning, innate talent, determination and sheer hard graft. So impressive.
Amazing job. I really love that you kept the old stonework wall. It’s such an impactful reminder of how much history these buildings hold. 🎉❤
This is so fabulous, kudos to your family. You must be exhausted, but I believe you are destined to help save properties from total ruin! God bless you! 😇😇😇
Hi 👋 how are you doing?
It’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished in the last 5 years!
Oh I have watched you for years, and now finding your Chanel had made my day. It is our plan to move to France in a couple of years and try and find our own little mansion or Gite…. just lovely to watch and how your babies have grown……I remember Anna going into labour on that busy wedding event… love to you all. ❤
You both have done a beautiful job and I love the pool.
My mom sold her mansion on Chicago’s Gold Coast.
She had a hard time giving up 10,000 sq feet.
Her home was built in 1898 we both still have a lump in our throat thinking about the house.
New buyer was keeping the home as it was except for the attic.
The skylight with the stain glass windows will open.
Gorgeous ❤
The coach house will be for guests.
It was originally the grand ballroom.
Hii Guys, I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now. This is after watching such restoration projects done by architects , etc which are well produced episodes . It’s interesting to know that you all do your vlogs at not much cost. I’m specially sending this message to tell the two of you how inspiring it is to see, the entire house been literally restored by the two of you. Keep at it . Njoy your day
Your Mansion is so lovely. Renovating a handsome building such as this can only be fun amidst the hard work. What captures my eye is, although it is a mansion, looking out through the windows and doors gives me a quaint cottage feeling. Vast building with a soft inner heart.
What a beautiful house throughout. And a fantastic job of restoring it. I appreciate the fact that you decided to keep much of the original parts of the house, such as the window shuts, since I feel like many people that restore old houses throw away perfectly good wood and other materials that could've been used otherwise. Keep up the good work!
ADORE! I would have fallen for the same house! It’s wonderful! The outside is just perfect.. has the perfect amount to say yep I’m beautiful.. love that you kept the crack in the molding.. love the molding in the first floor main rooms.. like the can lighting.. love the stained class door! Love the mosaic floor and the radiators. The stairwell is simply triumphant! Thank You for saving something abandoned! And the fact that you did all of it yourselves.. feels awesome right? Cute family! Best of luck to you all!
Brilliant you have both worked so hard. Please show your appreciation to Ed and Anna.👍
It’s such a beautiful house I love the facade the balcony the plasterwork, the floor plan is so perfectly balanced and I love the staircase it’s one of the nicest layouts I’ve seen
Absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you have re-imagined this space. You have impeccable taste. Love the new
Life you have brought to your glorious home.❤
Yes! Kevin Keswick I agree. You have done an amazing amount of work and obviously are a Master Builder. You have my complete admiration. Can't wait to see more.
I have been with you both since the very beginning and I have to say you guys feel like part of my family. All of the incredible work has paid off. So much blood, swear and tears but most of seeing all of the joy of your accomplishments come to fruition has been so rewarding to see. I remember when you first walked in and showing us behind those beautiful stairs. So many memories. Thank you for bringing us along. The whole place is built for comfort and the design and decor are so beautiful. Take care guys. Abiento.
So lovely, elegant & tremendous hard labor!!! Done with such passion & love!!! So proud of your accomplishments with the preservation of this beautiful home & your loving family!!!
I love what you have done!! So nice to see people appreciate the older things.
I adore these channels where people finding these dying old “Grande Dames” hidden in the undergrowth and breathe life and vitality back into them!! Congratulations to you and all the others who’ve restarted the “Nuevo Renaissance”. Beautiful!❤️
Edit: ok just finished watching and love everything but have to just say the bathrooms I would have finished differently..
We honestly don't care, have you notice now "grande dames" are being restored in the US? I wonder why?
OOH LA LA......... TRES BIEN ...... de toute beauté !!!! so much work......the house is absolutely magnificent ...... great detailed layout both of you worked very hard at....... you've outdone yourselves as usual..... thumbs up! 5 STAR ......
When you look back, it's always surprising at how much work was done. You two have really put a lot of work in this place. If you don't live in it, someone will be getting a beautiful home, with everything thought out for them, with no work, just enjoying it. I've enjoyed watching the progress.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO RENOVATE YOUR MAGNIFICENT CHATEAU!!!!

Found your vlog by accident and delighted I did. It’s so good to see you both again, we were avid fans of the Tv series. Now we can watch again! Brilliant !
I absolutely love the restoration of OLD country homes and dwellings. Thank you so much for sharing.
So amazing to see how far this has come! I know Ed also has plans for the grounds, which are going to be the crowning achievement in this project. Excited to see the next steps!
A dream come true! I am so glad you are returning this palace to its former glory AND adding a pool!
Being from the beach, yes noticed the Palm Trees at the first, wondered how old they were, they would have been majestic standing there when the home was in its prime and they were flourishing! Great job on the Chateau!
As always, the best, hardest working chateau restorers out there, I don’t know if Ed and Anna have another chateau in after all they have been through with this one. It has been a great ride for us your fans and we are looking forward or more of your adventures with them.
There are some chateau owners out there who should hang their heads in shame when you see the level of work achieved here in the same time frame that they have had theirs on RUclips!
Dear Edd and Anna, So nice to see and hear from you both. I have missed your vlogs, very happy to know you are back. Give each other a hug as well Charles and Emma, from me. Hugs 💞
I love that I found you all!! I watched you on TV and now here you are. I have a lot to catch up on!!
Congratulations. You are doing amazing work.
Thank you for preserving as much as possible!

Absolutely gorgeous. Thank GOD YOU PAINTED THAT FRONT ENTRY LIKE YOU DID IT IS OUTSTANDING. THE WHOLE HOUSE IS JUST YUMMY, I am from Florida and I love all the windows and French doors. Your little girl’s room is just adorable……. More to come and I will keep watch. Tks for sharing.
I echo all the sentiments of your talents and skills used in this renovation/restoration Ed and Anna. I love your decor style and perfection to details everywhere. A truly amazing achievement when you look back now. I do hope you can eventually see some way of keeping this majestic building as your family home. 💖🙏🏻

I too just came across your channel, it boggles my mind as to how much work you have done. How you do it with the cost of everything, amazes me.well done.
Hats off to you Ed. You’re like a work horse 😊 and to Anna too for patiently videoing, and also doing the work with Ed, and parallely taking care of the kids, etc
I also stumbled across this video today! Simply AMAZING!! The labor of love that has gone into renovating this place is very easy to see. The pure joy of seeing/witnessing the fruits of your labor must make you so very humbly proud. Thank you for sharing this with all of us!! 🥰
Hi how are you doing?
Nothing like re-building a home from the inside out........ What an effort you guys put in. I cant wait to see the finished product.......
I've never seen people renovate homes from the ground up like this before. It takes dedication, knowledge, and skills in this field. The techniques used are different from what I'm used to, possibly because I haven't seen much renovation of old buildings in my country. It seems like demolishing and building anew is more common here, even among the wealthy. The techniques shown in this video and others like it are impressive.
WOW! WOW! WOW! What a gorgeous place! Masses of work and still quite a bit to finish it off but you are to be fully congratulated. The house has a very good feel to it and what a lot of great pieces of furniture you can use with a little bit of cleaning and polishing. The mirrors are beautiful. Le tout...c'est magnifique et je vous félicite!
Thankyou for sharing this incredible journey. Like a caterpillar that metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly, you have transformed this stunningly beautiful property. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What bravery you have bringing history back. These beautiful homes should all be redone. I love watching shows such aa these.
I'm so glad this home found new owners who would know how to restore her properly. Amazing work!
Can't wait! Don't even need popcorn!
Incredible! I also admire how relaxed and easy your relationship seems with your wife. Congratulations!
Wow, 5 years to restore this home, but you did an amazing job it is gorgeous! Love the contrast of paint colors in the entry way. Those doors by the stairs are so pretty! Job well done.
