I found this website that is basically (or literally) the craigslist of the exotic animal trade. if ur looking for a pet monkey look no further. just stop looking. stop looking right now and spend that $$$ to get u institutionalized at your nearest psychiatric ward.
don't get ur panties in a twist tho. I just hate when sensitive species are sold around online because it just opens up access for anyone to own them. I'm sure there are people who can take wonderful care of all the animals on this site, but like I said I feel like there's a line between what we /should/ be able to own and what we should keep out of our homes generally.

I don't approve selling dogs or cats either, when talking about these kinds of animals which have been "domestic" for centuries I don't see a problem with owning them as pets but I still think the best option is adopting them from shelters or similar places(there are many pros in adopting from shelters rather than buying from pet shops).
In the video we see camels, monkeys, wild cats and more, animals that are supposed to be in their natural habitat.
I know it's a controversial topic and everything it's relative but I can't understand why it's okay to take a zebra away from her habitat and put her in your garden, even with all the nice food and care.
the fee when adopting from a shelter goes back into caring for the animals in that shelter. That means food, shelter, medical care, and spay or neuter. they aren't trying to turn a profit by creating more animals. the fee is often quite cheap, from $15 to $60 deepening on the animal and the facility.

For example: you said shelters sell animals and still make a profit like others, but where I live there is a really big issue with stray dogs and cats, you see them roaming around or lying in the streets half dead. If they are lucky enough not to get shot or run over(yes, they shoot them or they even poison them)they go into a shelter, you can adopt them and there is no fee to pay.
I know that there are loads of positive cases of wild animals living with humans, but there are many others that show abuse and suffering.
I paid $75 for my cat’s adoption fee. I’m starting to feel ripped off knowing I could have gotten a whole chimpanzee for only $50

there's sites like this that aren't on the dark web. laws vary by state, and most of the sites i've seen is for animals that are in introductory programs, educational programs, and are suppliers for zoos. some of them are also animals like hedgehogs, savannah cats, and the like.

However some of these smaller creatures are getting close to domesticated now (And if you tried releasing these guys now of all times they wouldn't be able to survive) However I do agree they should've been in the wild in the first place. This video is about exotic animals that's why I said it, if this was about domestic animals I'd probably say something about how bad that industry is but that's not what this video is about. I know how bad most of the domestic animal industry is, I have a dog that I got when I was 14 that brought to light where pet shops get their animals from, she is most likely a puppy mill dog and that made me see how bad it is and since then I've learned a lot more. How is my comment in anyway bad? I was commenting about the videos subject. How am I in the wrong here?

Why shouldn't someone have a wild animal as a pet even if they can afford to take care of it? Because the animal is potentially dangerous, it's cruel and they should be in the wild where they belong (I'm not talking about lizard or other similar exotic pets). Domesticated animals like dogs have been domesticated for centuries and would most of them would likely not be able to survive on their own. The breeding industry sucks, designing dogs with unusually flat snouts, etc. is cruel, no one is saying otherwise but I was commenting on what the video is about, ffs.
I'd trust a wild fox WAY more than I would Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, etc. At least you know the fox is going to be aggressive or defensive. Small dogs don't give you any warnings what so ever.
Just because someone is commenting on what's wrong with one industry doesn't mean they don't have an issue with the other.
And for someone complaining about the breeding of dogs, you'd think you would see why people shouldn't keep *wild* animals as pets.

My beautiful and amazing mistress Leopards, bears, lions, tigers and monkeys are extremely dangerous, those animals have mutilated or even killed their owners, even if they were well socialised or seemed to love their owners. I have no problem with people rescuing foxes, racoons, etc. because they can't be released to the wild.
Reality check: Most exotic animals like big cats have been taken away from their mothers at a young age. Most of the people that buy them don't look after them properly and end up dumping them at a sanctuary. Maybe do your research before commenting and no people shouldn't have a wild animal for human enjoyment, thats just selfish.

Naku Kai your ancestors meaning the knowledge it takes to care for them is most likely passed down & your family actually respects these animals. the problem is that in the USA people buy exotic animals as trophies - once the appeal wears off they either neglect or abandon them. selling to a new owner is only good when the new owner has the capability to care for said animal.
Naku Kai depends on where you live. a majority of these sellers in the video live in the united states, which is why owning these types of exotic animals would not be ideal.

I'm torn on this issue.
I keep Indian fruit bats, crocodiles, snakes, meerkats, owls and armadillos (videos coming soon!) and I do outreach shows. What's to say that someone keeping an exotic pet, like one of my crocodiles, wouldn't do a better job than someone who keeps a dog and doesnt feed it, walk it or give it access to medical care?
I think tougher licensing should be in place to own any animal and you should have to prove that you're
1) not a hoarder
2) financially equipped to deal with veterinary and food costs
3) able to provide the best care.
I'm actually working with the UK government on passing a new law to add far tougher restrictions on all pet ownership.

I don't want to be rude but most of the large animals here mentioned( camels, zebras, buffalo...) are raised like farm animals, not pets. They are pretty much like cows raised for meat, milk and leather/hide. Camels are also used for riding. Again I don't want to be rude just pointing that out.

WhattaDay Camels can't thrive in captivity along with many other exotic animals. Most camels sold as pets come from desert regions. Those camels in the wild can walk up to 100 miles a day and can run for long periods of time as well. Walking around on a farm or in a pen can't fulfill that. Camels are also social herd animals, keeping one or two as pets or for rides is wrong. They have other adaptions made specially for their natural habitats and would have no use for them living in other regions. Like monkeys and other complex exotic animals, we can't full provide their needs, wants, recreate their natural environment, and allow them to use their adaptions. That's not thriving, just like (for example) when hermit crabs are kept as pets. Hermit crabs walk miles a day, climb, scavenge for food, and socialize by their own means in the wild. Taking them out of their natural environment to keep in a small tank is not thriving.
You are wrong. Please deucate yourself, they are DOMESTICATED, just the same as horses. They are NOT exotics, they are livestock, and have been purpose-bred for thousands of years for meat, milk, hide, riding, and driving. Most domesticated camels would die in the wild. They are no more wild than a dog.
WhattaDay That doesn't change the fact that we can't fulfill their needs and wants in captivity. These animals in the pet trade are still very similar to wild ones so such animals shouldn't be sold as pets. Camels are not commonly kept as livestock in a lot of places, therefore these camels sold on the internet go to people looking for pets more often than to a person who keeps them for profit. And the fact that domesticated camels can't survive in the wild is another point, as they should be kept in the wild rather than trying to own them as pets.

The only way I could ever understand any of these “exotic pets” is if they’re rescues who’s disabilities won’t let them live in the wild. Literally that’s the only way and even then you should have the proper knowledge and honestly money to take care of it.

Donaldtrumps Myuncle I’m not against livestock being eaten, things like pigs and cows, chickens and other things but I do think that they should be treated with humanity, able to roam and have access to fresh food and water, instead of some horror stories I’ve heard of things like chickens claws fusing with cage bars because they had no room to move. I just think if it’s a real wild animal, like a zebra (which I believe is in the video) unless they have some sort of injury or disability where they can’t live in the wild, if they are community animals but no herd will take them in, or if they were captive bred, they should still be in the wild. But if they can’t survive in the wild because of any conditions or similar things, I think whoever takes them in should still have adequate money, space, time and have done their research beforehand.

I live near the Panhandle Exotics store where they were trying to sell the baby Kinkajous. And yes, they do offer financing which is really crazy given the fact that if you really want one of these animals you SHOULD be able to afford all preliminary cost and be able to afford vet visits for the exotic pets. It’s sad to see, the guys who own it are very money hungry.

Maybe... just maybe... they're not pets. They're more than likely meant for private collections in menageries and private breeding programs etc.

(And accredited zoos and sanctuaries do not get their animals through shady 'exotic pet craigslist' sites). These animals are going to backyards and basements, if they're lucky. If they're unlucky, they'll end up in a canned hunt (think 'shooting fish in a barrel'... but with tigers) or to the exotic meat/fur trade.
Pipe down have you ever worked with exotics or a menagerie or zoo/sanctuary? Don't think so, considering the fact that I've worked with exotics for 4 years now, I do believe I know substantially more than you or the maker of this video... Upon investigating this site it can be seen that the majority of the ads on the site are for licensed (USDA approved) facilities only.
Also saying that 'If it ain't in an accredited zoo or sanctuary, its a pet' is ridiculous! I'd like to see you keep a lynx as a pet. If you can't pet it, it isn't a pet now sit down.
I just mean that, if you are operating a fully private operation (not a recognised facility participating in international captive breeding programs or a true sanctuary with no buying, selling or breeding) then to me that is just someone with expensive pets. As much as they might like to say 'menagerie' or claim that they operate a 'private breeding program', or dress it up in some way as being conservation minded or for the love of the animals, that's still just a private owner, possibly breeding for cash who went out and bought themselves a tiger one day. That's not conservation or rescue. That's someone with wild animals in their house/on their land. I wouldn't keep a lynx as a pet. But some people (think) they do.
Being USDA approved, as far as I am aware, just means that they are licenced to keep and breed their animals and meet the minimum legal standards to do so - it has nothing to do with being a 'good' facility (they do after all, still make money selling dangerous and difficult to keep animals for cash on the internet) and has nothing to do with things like being an accredited zoo with high welfare standards and a good breeding program.

people on a farm near to my house owned camels and they had babies, their gone now tho, they now only own cattle and their donkey and horse is gone as well sadly i liked seeing the animals, but i dunno if camels are good in very cold rainy weather, but their native to the outback deserts, i dunno thinking back on it, i hope their in a warmer place as i dont know if their good in cold

Shipping a horse or other large animal to zoo, ranch or horse race is fairly easy and safe these days, but bit expensive.
My friend adopted a rescue horse from Romania. A large cargo ship sailed all the way to Finland. There was an caretaker with him the whole time making sure he was doing ok during the trip.
The animal cost only about 350€ and the shipping bit over 1000€. It was Prime quality delivery.

That's how most animals are sold. Breeders ship dogs frequently. I moved with my cat and shipped him from Az to Wa. Animals are shipped from zoo to zoo in breeding programs. Its no worse than you being crammed into coach seat on a plane. In fact the animals definitely have more leg room ;p
