- I am SO excited to share this special surprise that I have kept a secret for a while now! I am buying my first ever pet! As you know, my family has 2 dogs (Logan and Atlas) but this is the first pet I have ever bought since moving out of my family's house. In this video, you will see me buy supplies for my pet, put together its enclosure, and buy my pet! Leave a comment with any name suggestions you have for my little guy!

As soon as you said your pet needs a heat lamp I knew it would be a little berdie I used to have one and I thought I'd share some tips! They do not like loud noises so if you move around the cage to much it might startle him and for the bottom of the terrarium I used to put a grass like bottom that was meant for them or sand that if the heat lamp was over it the sand would get warm and make the berdie warm!!
Never use sand or a repti carpet which is what I think you are talking about. Repti carpet harbors bacteria and sand causes fatal impaction.

@@wolfiemix Sand mixed substrate is fine. Unless your temps are off, you can get impaction, otherwise theres no issues in keeping a naturalistic substrate.
Instead of using waterproof spay, you can use shelf vinyl, it works very well!

Just a tip! I have a bearded dragon and they get pretty big, when he gets big, I recommend moving some stuff out of his cage or getting a bigger cage!

For your first ever pet you are doing amazing! So far you've done everything correctly and the little fella is going to love the new home! Keep in mind that as he grows you are going to have to get a larger enclosure for the little cutie.

I'm pretty sure it's a bearded dragon I have two of them and I know what they need!! I'm so excited for youuuuu :)
I'm doing a vet tech class and we are actually on the topic of bearded dragons and defintly keep doing the newspapers, and also never use a heating rock I know you didn't but if you did it can get a heat rash because they can't sense how hot they get. Also yeah just make sure you get something to check temperature and humididty

Love this video. One tip do not use a heat mat for bearded dragons so you will definitely want to take that out.
You’re very right! We returned the heat pad and replaced it with a Ceramic heat emitter instead!
I had a beared dragon sadly he died :( but I got so happy when I saw the heat light!!!! it brought back memories. My beared dragons name was Drogos becuase dragon, so I was thinking that would be cute if you named your little one Drogos. Keep it up Aud!

I knew it! I’ve been watching since I was like 6 and I have a reptile myself!
i would recommend a large shallow water bowl for shedding purposes and some bearded dragons just enjoy soaking, but beside that its a great start.
you should soak beardies seperatly, basking lamps and water bowls will most likely cause extra humidity that the bearded dragon doesn’t need, and to much humidity can lead to respiratory infections

I also have a bearded Dragon! For baby's I recommend grass flooring. Also, Mine eats Crickets and Little salads and she still drinks her water even though it doesn't move

I’m half way through I think it’s a bearded dragon I have one named rocky and these seam like bearded dragon things also just a tip make sure you have them out alot and hold them alot and make sure they stay hydrated but let them drink in the tub not from a water bowl also be careful bc the worms can get out of the Bowl very easy

Bearded dragons are a super cool pet to have, but when it comes to bugs (especially the roaches) they will end up jumping out of the bowl and yo underneath the equipment. You may want to hand feed the worms or use the tweezers and I think putting 1 or 2 roaches in at a time depending how many you want to give ur pet! And bearded dragons don’t pee 😂!
How do they not pee😂 but guess what one time at the pet store I was 6 getting my first bearded dragon and in the car he got scared and pooped all over me😂😂😂

You need a night light heat lamp too also make sure to have your beirde try new foods every once in a while I have two beirdes and girl and a boy:)

Yeah don't get a heating pad. I have a beaded dragon her name is Roxy
I put my heating pad under the tank and placed a flat rock over it (on reptile carpet) This keeps the rock at the perfect temperature.
Bearded dragons should be bathed at least once a week and they make incredible pets. I have many reptiles of my own and one tip I can give you is that if they bite or just do anything like that then don’t put them away straight after because to them they know if they do that they will get away. My boy name suggestion is Edmond and my girl name suggestion is Twilight.
I used to have a bearded dragon but it died because the diet it was supposed to have she would not eat we tried all tips but nothing worked she died at 2 years because she had an eye infection she was so cute and did not bite we made videos with her whenever we pet her she would be so relaxed like she loved it she would be 4 years old but sadly she died

I have a male beardie too, they are so fun. Add calcium to the bugs he eats and maybe add sand or some substrate. They get bigger so maybe in the future get something bigger for him to live in

I I knew the second you showed the first item because I have a bearded dragon too! That is so cool you have one! Just a few tips don’t give him lots of worms because that will cause impaction and if his tank is too hot for you to touch it’s too hot for him
And bearded dragons don’t pee!
Another edit: if you wave you hand slowly in a circle it means you come in peace and are a friend
One little thing I did notice is that if you do end up haveing a problem with humidity than you migh want to move the water bowl to the cool end or take it out all together and just give the berdie water with a syringe or spray bottle .
Very cool, just make sure heat elements is connected to a thermostat
