I used to take the Orange line long before the extra stations were installed. Back then, mid 70's the Orange line was up in the air vs on the ground. When it used to go around North station, it would creep and the wheels would screech. So much better now.
I live 3 minutes walking distance from Malden Center. I use the Orange at least 5 days a week to work at Back Bay. Love the new trains. I wish they'd hurry up and replace all of them soon!
@weatherlicious i think the 01200s are better then the 01400s. The 01400s look so ugly and have more issues then the 12s in total. But dont get me wrong, the 01200s have their flaws also. But i really wouldnt want the 01200s to be replaced. The 01200s look really classic and nice.
this was a great video but just so you know at welling on there is only bus connections the commuter rail connection stops on the orange line are malden center north station back bay ruggles and forest hills but this was a rally good video nice job!:)
Seeing this really makes me want to cry. I may not be very old, but I don’t want the 01200s to go. I had some great experiences during my childhood on those cars. The 01400s just look horrible, they don’t make the classic sounds the 01200s make, they don’t have much character, and have way more issues than the 01200s. I’ll admit, the 01200s have their issues, but they hold such an important role in history, and they are going to be demolished in the next 5 months. It’s really sad and I wish it didn’t have to happen... I’ve even been avoiding the 01400s, and swearing at them due to the amount of hatred I have for them. I’ll definitely not be going on the Orange Line as often as I usually do once the 01200s retire.
The 01100's were the best rolling stock to ever run on this line, made in USA by Pullman Standard. The track record of Chinese made anything is that it only works long enough to sell it.
@@interstellarphred I never rode an 01100, only 01200s. They were retired long before I was on the Orange Line. From what I hear though, almost nobody complained about the upgrade from 01100s to 01200s, as the 01200s were a near perfect upgrade. Yes, Pullman Standard was a US based company, and Hawker Siddeley was Canadian based. While our opinion may differ on the best cars. Where I say 01200s and you say 01100s, at least we can agree that the CRRC cars, the 1400s should not be on the line.
@@IonicPixels the 01400's were a cheap noisy version that rode harder, the'11s were in such good shape, they were scrapped early so as to prevent any more talk about a Dudley branch.
@@IonicPixels The '11s were in better shape when retired than the 01200s were four/five years ago, due to the practice of breaking the trains down to two cars in the off peak hours. thus less miles clocked on the fleet of 100. this was to save labor costs. until repeal of the guard law. (6 cars, three guards) Four cars was common, although the fleet was large enough to run six, but the motorman had to be skilled enough to align to the short platforms, with the more primitive air brakes of the era. The '12s were good, they were real nice when new, slightly quieter, but it lacked the foamer observation window in front.
To clarify, Commuter Rail is interchangable at Malden Center but not Wellington, I made a mistake in the vid
Warning: ORANGE LINE WILL CAUSE FIRE AFTER HANGING PIECE

I rode the Orange Line when it was the Elevated. This does look like an improvement!
2:54 former portal to Washington Street, now sealed up.

Ew no the 1400s are way better the announcements are more clear and they provide better accessibility
Thank you for your time and have a great weekend 🤗
During my six-day stay in Boston back in October of 2018, I rode this subway frequently!
Zoom in and everything 😅 and everything 😂

Now It Stops At Malden Center And Oak Grove Ask The Orange Line
So happy
Thanks Kevin HLD
I miss the old elevated orange line on Washington Street
Same here. For two years I rode from Forest Hills to State Street every day.

I enjoyed video
I love the new orange line trains my only problem with them is the red strobe light are a little to bright and kinda are of a eyesore to me
這個視角啊,excited!
It’s too bad this was done in time lapse. One thing the T is not known for is their speed.

@@interstellarphred thats a shame. I would have loved to see both the Hawkers and the Pullmans running together
