Little Feat: The most underrated band of all time...
Very well respected in rock music circles, a bands' band, but they never quite hit the popular zeitgeist, alas. I started playing slide mainly because of Lowell George.
I concur. The album " waiting for Colombia has got to be one of the best albums ever created on a whole other level, the musicianship, creative genius, passion are all incredible.
In the UK, the DJ Bob Harris always introduced them as ‘the best rock ‘n’ roll band on the planet’ ! Don’t know if that annoyed the Rolling Stones but it sure upset their fans. Probably true, though.
Amen... they had the hypnotic rockin'' funk.
Amen. No credit and and Lowell and the boys could smoke everyone. I still break out in chill bumps when Lowell starts singing. Man, I miss him.
At 60 year's old I still get goosebumps.
This is the only rock this old soul needs to groove
She is doing the world a favor by keeping this music alive. Good job.
Since 1977 Little Feat has been my favorite band, Lowell my favorite singer and slide guitarist. Check out Feats don't fail me now and Sailing shoes. Good review! Thanks!
Is there anyone today as funky as Little Feat? And what a fantastic drummer Richie Hayward was. Miss you so bad Richie, Paul and especially Lowell.
I always think about Lowell, Richie, and now Paul jammin' in RnR heaven. DAMN, Lowell
ok, so i'm 63 years old and i got turned on to Little Feat mainly from the Waiting for Columbus live back in 1978 age 19......my reaction to this song was the same as yours...love at first sound. Music is the universal language and we need more and more music like this....lyrics tell a story, guitars, bass, percussion horns, Little Feat got it ALL......grown up music.
NO band like Little Feat! Who else could fuse Cajun Funk, Country folk, Boogie, Blues, Jazz & Progressive rock! This the band that "indie" acts like Wilco & My Morning Jacket WISH they could be!
Linda Ronstadt saw him perform at a club. She went up to tell him how much she loved the music. Lowell George simply held out his hand and said "Have a Quaalude."
The Spanish Moon was actually a club down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Not sure if it was named after the song, but it is/was famous for being a live music venue. I like to think that the bar in Baton Rouge is the one from this song and not just named after the song.
One of the all-time funkiest songs EVER!!
Welcome to the Little Feat rabbit hole.
The best band in the world by a fair margin.
This is a great band- their live album Waiting for Columbus is a masterpiece. Once Lowel George died, they weren’t the same, yet- they still made a huge hit after he died.
Waiting for Columbus is one of the greatest live albums of all time...
I have just learned looking at various comments that hardcore LF really like Waiting for Columbus. I love LF too but l think the studio albums way better
@@ricknblueridge If I was marooned on a desert island, with 1 CD, you know what it would be....
Everyone's reacting to Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page. Supposedly Little Feat was one of Pages favorite bands to listen to.
Little Feat - Willin’ Great song, this band could do it all. Rock, funk, blues, country. They are great
I has been waiting and hoping you would get to this group. It's already been said: Waiting For Columbus
Add those great Tower of Power horns...man, I woulda killed to have seen this live!
I did and I agree
It was killer deluxe
Can you imagine the crowd all grooving at once to this song? Out of control.
Rock and Roll Doctor
why the hell is Little Feat not in the Hall of Fame
Because The R&R H of F has no idea what they're doing
Dat Funky Azz Bass and Tower of Power on horns! Do I hear a Hammond Organ? Yes I do!
The horn section playing behind Little Feat on this song is Tower of Power. Two great bands coming together on this kickass song.
Tower of power toured with Huey Lewis & the News as well! They definitely added an additional dimension to the News!
Great call and response lyrics courtesy of Lowell George and Sam Clayton. Can't get the bass line out of my head - thanks KENNY.
Dixie Chicken.. Rocket in my Pocket...this was a great band...Lowell George...musical genius!
For their rendition of Dixie Funk, check out them performing the tune "Oh Atlanta ".
Good drummer ain't he! Richie Hayward. The drums and the bass propel the band ("Time Loves a Hero"). I bought this album when it was released when I just graduated high school. It is as fresh then as it is now. Glad you like it. Groovy!
I'm 65 years old and dayum this still sounds good!
Check out this band, one of the most underrated rock bands of the 70's, their live album 'Waiting for Columbus' the best live album of all time...
One of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Lucky to see LF, with Lowell , so good , seen them over 15 times never a bad show. Awesome reaction 🇺🇸
Yeah!! So good to see you getting down to some Feat!! Thank you🙏 great video!
Yup - that song is definitely IMPOSSIBLE to listen to without your body instantly moving to this groove. Damn what a great underrated and extremely talented band they were. At their peak (at this time in 1977) they were capable of magic. So glad this tune affected you like it did. Welcome to the club! BTW the bassist is Kenny Gradney, the conga player Sam Clayton and Richie Hayward - the MASTER - on drums. Lowell George the singer with the unmistakeable voice and amazing slide guitar. Between that rhythm section, Lowell George, Paul Barrere on guitar and Billy Payne on keyboards these guys were simply awesome. Lowell, Ritchie and Paul all gone too soon RIP.
Yeah!! You just stumbled across one of coolest funkiest 70s bands. These guys were a cult phenomenon like the Grateful Dead, they were followed all over the country. The live album Waiting For Columbus is considered one of the best live albums of the decade. Check out- Time Loves a Hero, Red Streamliner, Fat man in the Bathtub, Rocket In My Pocket, Dixie Chicken. Amazing band, but sadly, Lowell George the singer passed away around 1979 I think. They
haven't been the same
Since.
They should be in the rock hall of fame!!
Feats Forever!
Little Feat! Underrated genius
Found you late but Little Feat brought me here. Subscribed right away when you liked the funk. The future may hold more funk and R&B for us. 🤞🤪
Funny part of Little Feats concerts: When they left the stage, they would play “Don’t Bogart that joint, my Friend. Pass it Over to Me.” And the crowd would throw their joints and stash onto the stage. Roadies would come out and collect it all! Then the band would come back out and play the encore. Hahaha 🤪 Does anyone remember that?
Waiting for Columbus has been playing in my home since it's release 1978 - I love your reaction young lady. You make it feel like Lowell, Paul, and Richie are still alive. BRAVA!!
Little feat is hard to beat. Great band .
No jokin. This is one of the best, yet most underrated bands of all time. Funk layered with southern fried, rock n roll, jazz, oh you name it. Please, please, give the whole album Waiting For Columbus a listen or two. You will be a fan guaranteed!
Great to see your reaction to one of the funkiest bands ever, Little Feat.
The greatest underrated almost unknown musician's musician band ever
Best funk band ever with Tower of Power Magnificent horn section. Funk from heaven. Stepped inside…..
Tower of Power horn section.
w/the Tower of Power” horns
Shakes ya to the core - and thats just one
This is one of my favorite and funky songs ever.
Dude!! I never would have thought you would react to this!!
Girls who used to get up and shake it on the fance floor when Feat came on the juke box... well you knew they liked to "boogie" - if you know what I mean
Love your reaction💜
Waiting for Columbus...
Whole album!
Sam Clayton on bass vocals, the Tower of Power horn section, Kenny Gradney on bass guitar, Lowell.....on and on 😍😍...just 1 song from 'Waiting for Columbus ' ....one of the best live albums made.
Loved the reaction! That was fun!
One of those bands just built to play live.
Having the Tower of Power horns as a backup don't suck either..
Lowell kickin it with that baritone, nobodies biznes just a rythme & blues bump, Paul in the groove, can't touch this. u can lose it all..
Grade A prime rib …pure talent..my parents brought me up right..
I first got turned on to Little Feat in the 1980's. Then the Funky Meters, then Professor Longhair, and Dr. John and Alan Toussaint...
Before I knew it, this yankee boy was pining for crawdads and gumbo.
Get it girl! I can feel you feeling this!
I REALLY like 👍🏼 this review 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼!!!
Best band in history!!!!!
Awesome!
Yes!! Can’t stop the funk. You were groovin!!
LOVE her reaction. This is how great music is kept alive, and lives forever.
That's some funky stuff. Great band with Lowell George.
"There was some stuff going on there." Uhhh, YEP! RIP Lowell, Richie and Paul
came for the FEAT stayed cause you obviously know great music!
Lets rock !!!
Give me weed whites, and wine and I'll be willin
You are VERY BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️...without MAKEUP 🤗🤗🤗
I realized that if they stepped on the one beat a little harder this would be straight up P-funk funk!
Those two doing this song would break the bank.
Greatest live album ever made
If you weren't a child of the 60s then you probably don't know this band and that's a damn shame they were that good they were like The Grateful Dead, Canned Heat, Rare Earth, Ten Years After and Grand Funk Railroad they were huge in their own right back then but you don't hear them much now
And that is a cryin shame. The music changed as the times and not always for the better.
Song had funk, soul, and rock. Thanks
Funky as they wanna be!
Fat Man in the Bathtub is a banger
She picked my favorite version of one of my Top 5 songs, ever.
This is real music.
Jimmy Page (Guitar God!) thought Lowell George was off the hook! ❤️
the other guy talked real slow. finally the music starts and communication begins. just for your black heritage, the beat is Merengue, and it has a specific dance. African music defined the Carribean and Brazil, but in the US, only New Orleans got it - and to LIttle Feat. The correct title for Little Feat is The Greatest Party Band of All Time.
3:00 My reaction exactly
Whew.....Whiskey and bad cocaine....love it!!!!!!!
Craftsman 7/8th socket makes the best slide for a guitar ever!
Gotta do Dixie Chicken. One of their funkiest songs
I pawned my watch
And I sold my ring
Just to hear that girl sing
just to hear that girl sing..
Recorded Live in 1977 Analog.....
Lowell George....was, he was it!
Many many years before you were born.................
Tower of power horns
Tower of Power did the horns . Could of been a nasty bar in Newark NJ. Newark NJ is known for being nasty.
Do mercenary territory lol
they remind me in story and popularity and quality of molly hatchet; i think lowell and danny jo could trade places and well, it probably wouldn't sound as good, but they would sound interesting.
Stoned out his mind. ?
