When the Tower of Power horn section offered their services for this live album the members of Little Feat jump at that chance and listen to the results. Absolutely phenomenal album
Little Feat and TOP were labelmates on Warner Brothers Records!
I did not know the fabulous TOP was on this album (obviously don't own it.....yet).
Yeah bro tower of power horns fit perfect into the groove of this whole album
Little Feat are one of the most underrated, underappreciated bands of the classic rock era. I encourage you to dig in, my brother. There are lots of deep, soulful, funky grooves to discover.
Little Feat is one of those 'hidden in plain sight' gems.
Yes!! This is one of the best live albums EVER imo..
One of the few bands that record better live than in the studio.
Either on your own time, or better yet here on your channel, just do the whole album. It is one of the best live albums by anyone, anywhere, anytime. Most music fans and critics will agree. Saw Little Feat live on the tour after this album was released, no Tower Of Power Horns present, but still one of the best musical experiences of my life.
Right up there with J. Geils Band live album Full House.
There's one to do in its' entirety; sent a request a couple weeks ago for one from Full House: Hard Drivin' Man 😁
Hey Bob ... I saw this tour and bought that t shirt . Unbelievable show. 🎸🎧
Little Feat should have been absolutely massive , rest in peace Lowell George , still much missed !
The best live album ever produced.
Lil Feat, just part of the rich tapestry of my misspent youth.
I love Little Feat! Fat Man in the Bathtub, Two Trains, Dixie Chicken!!✌🇨🇦
They're still on the proud highway playing this incredible music. I'm catching them for the 25th time again in April. Can't wait. Thanks for this reaction!
It's that kind of album that makes you feel home whereever you are.
This was my father's all time favorite band. I remember being a child and at his house he would always ask what I wanted to listen to and I would always either say MTV (Dire Straits) or The Tomato Soup album referring to the cover of this album. Such a great band. Have fun in your journey of discovering some awesome gems
The T O P horns are just badass
Hookers and hustlers. Whiskey and bad cocaine. So much soul in this amazing song by perhaps the most underrated band of all time. Enjoy jumping in they gonna treat you right for a solid spell
This throws me back at least forty years. It may surprise you that Lowel George, leading figure of Little Feat, learned his craft from being in Frank Zappa's crowd. And as a personal not, on the same record (2 lp's, if I recall correctly) there is a song called "Don't Bogard That Joint, My Friend". I'm sure you'll like that. The whole record is great, btw
Don't Bogart That Joint is one of the songs on Waiting for Columbus.
@@ethelynchristopher6995 Yes, and this is the very record
You are a little off I'm your events of little feat. Lowell was a player in Zappa's band and in fact which was considered the original Mothers of Invention. Lowell wrote the song Will in in which at that time was more up tempo then what was recorded and Zappa told Lowell that he may want to start his own thing and with the blessing of Frank decided to do that. Zappa also financed Lowell and the first Little Feat album
@@skinyviny1This is the way.
Lowell George, lead singer and slide guitar.Great band,Lowell played for Frank Zappa for a short time.Died young "alcohol, ect."
The break down ending of this song gives me chills every time I hear it!
That bass line is smooth.
I love this album. Every song is great, but especially "Dixie Chicken". And this song & "Willin'". Linda Ronstadt even does a great cover of "Willin'" & tells a story in concert about sleeping with the lead singer Lowell George, until his wife knocked on her door & told her "No more".
I read Linda had a thing for Lowell but died. Bonnie Raitt was hanging around
Powerful horn section...TOWER OF POWER HORNS!
You gots to understand that this is what I was listening to almost 50 years ago.
Feats never failed me back then or to this day.
SO, so, so GOOD. Funky band of great musicians with some soul. Love this band.
Wore this 8 track out back in the day, fantastic! That smooth funky rhythm.
I don't remember the exact quote but someone once asked Jimmy Page during Led Zeppelins heyday who he enjoys listening to or maybe it was who his favorite band was. Some question like that. His response was, Little Feat.
It was in a Rolling Stone article.
@@MarkKlass thanks
One of the original jam bands and they could groooove.
Little Feat killing it.
Little Feat!! One of the greatest bands of the 70s!! This is THE greatest live rock album of all time. Give it up for the late Lowell George!!
Check out :
Time Loves a Hero
Fat man in the Bathtub
All that You Dream
Dixie Chicken
Red Streamliner
How could you leave out Mercenary Territory?
I'm a little late to the party, but I was at this concert back in the 70s in DC. Best concert I have ever been to, and the album is my favorite of all time.
do the whole album!!! nothin like it
Worth every second of playtime.
There ain't a bad lick on it!
Didn't know this one neither. Your turn to educate me. Straight off from those congas, its like oooooh this goin be good shit. 😎
Little Feat is a deep deep rabbit hole. Enjoy the ride!!!
@@jimz6850 thanks mate, think I def will ✌️
I hate to sound like an broken record (pun intended) with the same comment I posted for Teez’ most recent Bowie reaction, but there is a reason Phish wore this entire juggernaut of a live album as their musical costume on Halloween as well.
lucky enough to see them in 1977 in London, they were brilliant such a groovy band. One of the best live concerts I attended and I was fortunate to see lots of great bands, due to where I lived, they all did London gigs if they came to europe
I know sometimes I might sound like a broken record, nut this is another album that should be enjoyed in it's entirety. It will make you wish you had been born forty years earlier. In any event, I hope you delve a little deeper into the Feat. You won't regret it.
i am 40 and this album was my lullabies
But , Sometimes , Mr. Roberts. Those Feats Will Steer Ya Wrong !!
Yep. That's the right stuff.
Greatest live album. Ever.
I was introduced to this album in 1978. And still to this day, I react to this song the same way you reacted here...awesome...music will save the world.
My all time favorite band!!
Same LP check Mercenary Territory. The best sax solo ever Featuring the Tower of Power Horns. Orgasmic
Summertime BBQ music at it's finest; actually had this album playing last night during dinner out in the back yard. Glad you found Little Feat!!!
A straight up NOLA sound with members of the Funky Meters in the group! Check out " willin" and " rad gumbo".
One by one they walked off stage, that's why you end up with just the percussionist
Same album and band but Dixie Chicken!! It’s their most known song yes but it’s still awesome!! Lol and oh yea....tower of powers horn section is sitting in so this whole show is extra special!!
Layers of funk!!
Yes! Great to see your first exposure to the greatest party band of the 70's and this is a killer song to start it off. That horn section just takes it to another level.
That's the Tower of Power horn section. ...and yes they do take it to another level.
Are you THE "Neon Park"?
The Tower of Power horns are well used in this album.
Love me some Little Feat. Waiting for Columbus is a legendary album. Saw them in concert multiple times back in the day.
Oh yeah, now we're talkin'. You will Little Feat, especially anything off of this LP.
Carry On!!
Stellar cut...Little Feat...rare jewel
They sound better live to me.
I have to agree; Studio albums were good but their live sets are just amazing.
No argument but having tower of powers horns sitting in made this a particularly amazing live show from any band!!
Very few bands can pull that off.
They were much better live. Especially with a horn section.
I agree, this is the only version of Spanish Moon that I will listen to. Absolutely killed it. The bass line and overall groove, unbelievable.
One of the BEST bands of all time - thanks for keeping it alive!!!! Little Feat!!!!
This album is FIRE! Essentially it's all live cuts that have been cleaned up a bit during the production of the album. IMO the versions on this album "Waiting for Columbus" are better than the original cuts on their studio albums and it was the soundtrack of my college years. You could not walk across campus without hearing one song or another playing out of a dorm window. Lowell George (singer, slide guitar) died before I got a chance to see them in concert but I did see the rest of the band at the Warner Theater in DC with someone else singing lead and they were still fabulous.
So glad to see another convert. Waiting for Columbus, is the best!
I think I first heard this album in 1980 as a twenty-year-old with a gathering of friends. Still fresh (both the album and I) after all these years. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍
One of the best live albums ever! The recording is really unbelievable! Listen to the whole album! Little Feat has been a favorite since about 1969, when I saw them live in Atlanta at a little place called 12th Gate Coffee House - in a living room!
There’s a reason Phish covered this ENTIRE album for their musical “costume” on Halloween 2010.
We listened the hell out of this album back in the day. Teez, its all good☺
Just picked up Chico Hamilton's lp The Master and who is the musicians that are backing him up? Little Feat. What versatlie talented bunch. All the guys that play music listen to Little Feat. A musician's band of musicians.
Little feat has such a signature sound. Good rythm and blues
Lowel George and his crew are serious goood. He even used to be in Zappa's band.
Lowell George had such a great voice & was a great slide guitarists. Too bad he died so early in the late 70's. I saw Bob Weir from the Dead sing "Dixie Chicken" in Telluride. The band has kept playing till recently, but was never the same without Lowell.
Hello Funky Song ! 🎵 🔥
Hey, been loving you playing The Dead. I've been Jonesing for you to do some Feat 😎
Love Little Feat!
dude do the whole album i was born in october 1995 but i'm very familiar with this album, and it's absolute reaction gold.
I am blessed to have seen Little Feat live just a year before Lowell George died. It was the "Time Loves a Hero" era.
You must check out this album as well, Little Feat at the height of its musical genius from all its members. "Day at the Dog Races" is just one suggestion. Hang onto your brain with this one.
Lowell George was an incredible singer, song writer and a badass slide player.
fav band from back in the day, far too underrated by the mainstream who don't know what they are missing. Great band
AWESOME!!!
Unreal album. Red Streamliner is another killer.
This is my all-time number 1 favorite live album!!! Lowell George, lead singer, was also in Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention band.
I am NEVER far from a copy of this great album! One stays in my car at all times! Just listen to it ALL! One of the great funk, rock bands of our time!
I actually saw Lowell's last 2 shows before he passed and it is not with Little Feat. He set out to do a solo tour with a bunch of other musicians. The last 2 shows were at Alexanders in New Jersey and The 9:30 club in Washington DC. They found him dead the next morning in DC. Drugs and alcohol did him in like it did so many others
Yes Sir!
They are one of the most sampled band
You know how much I love Zappa Teez. If you drive deep enough into the world of Zappa you'll hear stories about how he disliked drugs and even fired band members for drug related indiscretions. Lowell George is IMO the prime example. He brought WILLIN to Frank and between that and his proclivity for narcotics got the boot. Took fellow Mothers Roy Estrada Billy Payne and Richie Hayward and formed Little Feat.
And this is considered by most as not only their greatest album but one of the greatest albums in musical history. Like others have said, do yourself a favor and listen to the whole thing.
Or maybe I should request some more from this show. Hmmmm.
Wow I didn’t know that man, that’s great info, thank you for educating me fam 🔥
@@TeezMcGee word
Women whiskey and cocaine. Ah the good ol days.
I have one for you - The Isley Brothers "Climbing the Ladder" -- some of the most amazing guitar ever
❤️💛🧡
"Two Trains" would be a great one to react to . "Mercinary Territory" from this album is also phenominal
Ditto!
The end of Two Trains is a speeding locomotive keyboard
one of the best live albums i ever heard
Never heard this one, though I have some of their music on a compilation CD my brother burned me. Like it! Especially that dirty bass line 😲...👍
Ayyyee you’re discovering music right along with me 😂
Listen to the entire album, you won't regret it.
Don’t hold back now. This was REALLY good, wasn’t it?
definitely the whole album, one of the greatest albums of all time!
Welcome to the party Brother! Not a bad track on the album. From vinyl, to eight track, to cassette, to CD, to you...spread the love😎🇺🇸
That whole album is stellar. Check out the track Time Loves a Hero
Lowell George!!
That’s the last song of the show, and each band member stops playing and leaves the stage, one by one.
There's a few artists I listen to that if I recommend I will always recommend the live version because that's how they were intended to be heard. Just a short list Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, little feat, any band that's considered a jam band like the Dead.
"Waiting for Columbus" is quite possibly the best live album ever.
Little feat is a awesome band . YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN LIVE IN NASHVILLE " VOODOO CHILD ". YOUR MIND WILL BE BLOWN.
I've got well over a thousand albums in my record collection and this is my second favorite album of all time. The only one I like better is Van Morrison's It's Too Late to Stop Now. I will never in a million years understand why Madonna is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Little Feat isn't.
🔥🔥👆 Love this.
drug album, safe in the 70's.
The video for this performance is available as well. Half of the band looked incredibly wasted! Great reaction, Teez!
Easy To Slip.
Sailin' Shoes, the album and the song.
Not great...its sublime! Bought this album new back in the day...live performances are even better than the studio versions. Don't forget to get back to Beth Hart.
