open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Кино
We’ve been meaning to hit Little Feat FOREVER!! Finally coming around to them, everybody said this was the one we had to check out! What’s next?!
Teenage Nervous Breakdown next, come on!
What's next? No more Little Feat.
Still missin' out on live stuff from The Who. My Generation from Live at Leeds is an EPIC performance. Amazing Journey/Sparks from Live at Hull is an amazing DEEP CUT and one of Moon's better performances.
"Spanish Moon," live from "Waiting For Columbus." So deliciously greasy.
Little Yawn. If you like this kind of stuff (and I don't), just listen to The Band. They'll give you all you need.
“Willin’” and “Oh, Atlanta” are must-listen’s
This makes me want to turn off the radio and put on "Spanish Moon" or "Fat Man in the Bathtub" or better yet, listen to them live, at their best, on "Waiting for Columbus."
Waiting for Columbus is an amazing album
Waiting for Columbus is a Master Class !
(The cuts are much cleaner too)
Spanish Moon is awesome.
Yes whole album.
Was coming on here to recommend that album. Such a fun groove, that entire album.
Where did Lowell George, the man who formed Little Feat, get his start in rock? Oh yeah, playing for a guy named Frank Zappa.
Like so many others. It's time for some Zappa.
@@yoseffeigenbaum9639
Yeah. I have 60+ Zappa Albums.
As a musician I listen to Zappa to remind how much farther I could go in music.
@@mrnobody3161 he was so brilliant. They reviewed Inca Roads which I think was a bad starting point regardless of the musicianship. I'd like to see these kids do something more accessible. With Zappa's discography there is so much to choose from!
The recent Zappa documentary is really enlightening. Quite a life.
@@adambnyc4875
Saw Dwezzal Zappa perform the complete Hot Rats Album a couple of years ago.
Freak'n Fantastic.
Little Feat was a band meant to seen live. RIP Lowell George.
And Paul, and Richie!
I actually got to see them at if all places decades ago Stone Mountain for the chili cook-off. So much fun dancing and singing and embarrassing my oldest son 😏😂😂😂
Sydney Hordern Pavilion 1976, great band
Yes, RIP LG, another shocker when it happened.
Dixie Chicken is one of the most clever songs ever written. Chicken is slang for money. Dixie Chicken is slang for Sugar Daddy.
The reveal at the end when all the boys at the bar began to sing along tells us that she broke every one of their hearts too. You should listen to this song again, but carefully. It's a masterpiece.
Totally agree, it’s like they missed out on a Hemingway Novel because they didn’t like the background singers!
This is vital to Little Feat reactions. Do live versions, most suggestions will be on the Waiting For Columbus album. Little Feat made their name as a live attraction, not studio albums. Disregard whatever Spotify tells you.
I agree, the live versions on Waiting for Columbus are far superior to the studio versions of their songs. They were a great live band.
Couldn't agree more. Studio version is just average.
Truth
This is facts. My dad saw them in the 70’s with Lowell George and said it was unexpectedly one of the best live shows he had ever seen
100%! "Waiting for Columbus" is one of the Top 10 live albums ever, if not Top 5.
It's not that often that live versions are better than studio versions, but this is one of those times when live is best!
Y'all missed the joke - all the boys in the bar already heard her song....
She was popular......
Over their head
@@tommathews3964 She was professional.
They missed a lot of what this song is about.
OMG. This is hard to watch. So naive.
The line is," If you'll be my Dixie Chicken, I'll be your Tennessee Lamb."
I know...annoying, right?
They often do the lyrical deep dives, except when they get the lyrics or meaning wrong.
Yeah, don't know how he got 'rye' out of that. Might need better headphones...
For years I thought it was "Tennessee man", which made no sense to me. When I finally bothered to look up the lyrics it made MUCH more sense...
@@Jalahr77, it may be the influence of the rye they're drinking...
Little Feat, not just a band, they’re story tellers in song. Every song is a tale. 👍❤️
Come on you guys it's a southern shuffle !!! I'm British and I picked up on every word "If you'll be my dixie chicken ,i'll be your Tennessee lamb"
But please, please don't call them Southern Rock! The drawl in the song is fake. Lowell George and Bill Payne formed the band in Los Angeles. They're hard to categorize, with a lot of influences. Mostly they're unique unto themselves.
@@61hink Southern shuffle NOT Southern Rock OK
@@johnnosiennek7066 It's New Orleans influenced, but they're essentially a band from California. If a band from London did a song about their girlfriend from Galway and someone from America commented that it was 'Irish Rock'... You get it
Please check out Little Feat’s fantastic live album, “WAITING FOR COLUMBUS”. Best live album of all time!
Anything from their live album “Waiting for Columbus “ will forever change your mind about this band. Fabulous musicians and epic writing make for great performances....
Oh Atlanta
Lowell George...
What he said. Fat Man in a Bathtub is great as well, but the whole album is great. I blame Tower of Power :)
I prefer Electrif Lycanthrope. My favourite recording of Fat Man In The Bathtub is on it.
You’re doing yourself an injustice if you don’t check out the double live album waiting for Columbus. All the best versions are there.
Best live album ever.
I can't listen to the end of DC without thinking we're about to fade into "Tripe Face Boogie" like on Columbus!
Amen.
@@kevingdoyle Dang sure one of the best!!
Not to mention one of the best album covers ever.
I've always heard chicken. He's not a lazy singer, he just has a drawl. It's like asking Rod Stewart to sing less raspy.
He's a southern boy - that's just how we talk!
Absolutely. Never heard "rye" in place of "lamb" either. These young'uns. Whaddaya gonna do.
@@wagstaff6135 They should smoke more and drink less.
That said, Rod was in my 3rd grade class,, played a mean kazoo, and without a rasp!!!
You should give Robert Palmer's "Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley" a listen. Little Feat played a big part in his first album in the early 70's.
But do the first three songs on the album. Sailin Shoes, Hey Hey Julia, and Sneakin Sally Through the Alley. They all run together.
@@JamesRea2 YES!
Correct !!
Robert Palmer!!! Yes, his trilogy mash up on that album is worth it's weight in gold. Still love listening to that album. So smooth, Robert had such a deep groove.
I have a special love for Pressure Drop also. I saw Palmer in Atlanta/76 and then again in Germany/79, wonderful stage performances.
Rock and Roll Doctor has the greatest line in a song: 2 degrees in bee bop, a PhD in swing, he’s a master of rythm, he’s a rock and roll king.
My favorite Little Feat song ever!
@@jannsmart7005 Mine too!
OMG! NEVER thought ANYONE would review Little Feat! So many great songs on my favorite LF album "Waiting for Columbus". While I love this song, "Spanish Moon" - live off the "...Columbus" album is my favorite 😀
Tre Narcisse reacts to a LOT of Feat!
I know!! I'm excited!!
Little Feat is potentially the most underrated band of the 70’s. They are also way better live. I HIGHLY recommend:
Easy To Slip
Fat Man In the Bathtub
Oh Atlanta (from the Waiting for Columbus live album)
Trouble
Rock n Roll Doctor
Tripe Face Boogie (live at Rockpalast)
Man, "Easy to Slip" is such a great tune, among many greats!
Spanish Moon
Waiting for Columbus is my #2 live recording ever!!!
Preach
Should have done a lyric dive lol. You'd understand the song better.
The singer basically fell in love with a chick who used him then dumped him for a guitar player. Then drowning his sorrows in a bar he finds out basically every guy in there knew her and had the same experience.
I was fortunate enough to share a mic with Lowell George onstage once, and he was simply as great as you'd think he'd be. Or as many of us do.
What an awesome moment that must have been :)
I've got Lowell George envy now! What a memory!
Dixie Chicken is about a guy that meets a girl that rocks his world and in a drunken haze marries her. Her trademark is the song she sings. She leaves him one day and he goes back to the place where they met. The bartender happens to mention he knows her and then hums that signature song and all the other guys there knew it too. Lyrics -
I've seen the bright lights of Memphis and the Commodore Hotel
And underneath a street lamp, I met a Southern Belle
Well, she took me to the river where she casts her spell
And in that southern moonlight, she sang the song so well
If you'll be my Dixie Chicken, I'll be your Tennessee Lamb
And we can walk together down in Dixieland
Down in Dixieland
Well, we made all the hot spots, my money flowed like wine
And then that lowdown southern whiskey began to fog my mind
And I don't remember church bells or the money I put down
On the white picket fence and boardwalk of the house at the edge of town
Oh, but boy do I remember the strain of her refrain
And the nights we spent together, and the way she called my name
If you'll be my Dixie Chicken, I'll be your Tennessee Lamb
And we can walk together down in Dixieland
Down in Dixieland
Well, it's been a year since she ran away
Guess that guitar player sure could play
She always liked to sing along, she's always handy with a song
Then one night in the lobby of the Commodore Hotel
I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well
And as he handed me a drink, he began to hum a song
And all the boys there at the bar began to sing along
If you'll be my Dixie Chicken, I'll be your Tennessee Lamb
And we can walk together down in Dixieland
Down in Dixieland
I've always loved that....."Guess that guitar player sure could play" line! Me thinks she was quite popular! I've always loved this band!
@@tommathews3964 I saw them perform back in the 80's at Rockefellers in Houston. It was a great show!
@@edwhite6042 Paul never got the credit he deserved! I made 2 Lowell shows, 74 and 76 and two post Lowell shows. One hot live band!
@@tommathews3964 Yep, as good as it gets.
Yes, she took off with the guitar player.
Not sure how you heard “Tennessee Rye”...lol. The lyric is “Tennessee Lamb”.
Their live version in Waiting for Columbus is also incredible!
Spanish Moon , Fat Man in the Bath Tub , Old Folks Boogie , and more !
And "Mercenary Territory" and "Tripe Face Boogie" and "Rocket in My Pocket" and , and, and.......
Did someone mention anything about listening to Waiting For Columbus? Oh, everybody? Well good, I'm not alone. Probably because Lowell George was one of America's best slide guitar players.
My son was Feat's guitar technician for nearly 10 years. He did his last show with them at the Ramble on the Island gig in Jamaica in 2019. ☺️💜💚💛✌️
are you the famous ghost?
@@lawrencesmith6536 lol no but I wear my Stevie Nicks outfit a lot because they say whatever you're wearing when you die will be your ghost outfit forever. 😁🤘✌️

There is video of them playing live somewhere in Holland. You need to see it. These guys are phenomenal. They are like Allman Brothers. But better actually.
Yes! You need to listen to the Waiting for Columbus album..LG is the real deal and the band, second to none 😎
That laid back sound is cocaine and bourbon.
@James Smith Yeah, man and don’t forget the Tower of Power horn section too!
Thanks guys! Been waiting on Little Feat reaction forever. Your reaction to this studio song was spot on. They absolutely try, with only some success, to recreate in the studio what they were best known for. LIVE PERFORMANCES. And as you alluded to, preferably at an outdoor venue. For your next Little Feat try Spanish Moon from the Waiting For Columbus live album (original, not remastered).
💯 agree. I don't even think I've ever listened to any other version of Dixie Chicken than off Waiting For Columbus
I've been asking for Spanish Moon for more than a year!
Somebody you've been needing to hit, and I will ask again - Dr. John. You saw Dr. John on the Last Waltz, and you seemed impressed. Right Place, Wrong Time featuring the fabulous and precise Meters.
This reminded me of Dr. John.
Dr. John's story is incredible, search for Dave Grohl's interview with him.
@@bafalan His autobiography is a great read.
A & A did do “Such a Night”
You need to listen to the entire Waiting for Columbus album
YES !!!!
All the criticisms you guys had don’t apply to the Waiting for Columbus version. The vocals are pure Lowell George, there is no muddling of the instruments. It’s awesome. It’s almost a different song really. LF was a live band primarily. Their studio stuff is just okay.
This. If you only saw them live you'd think they were the greatest collection of musicians ever. Because they just about were. Right there with the Band.
Yup
Saw them live once and it was awesome 😁
I agree they were great live but I think many of their studio albums were also pretty great
It's okay guys. You're allowed to be wrong sometimes.
"...and ALL the boys at the bar began to sing along". one of my favorite lines in a song, and y'all didn't even mention it :(
live from "waiting for columbus" is the only way to fly...
Bill Payne the keyboardist is considered by a lot of musicians and critics to be (have been) a easy top 5 keyboardist during the 60's, 70's and 80's, playing with Doobie Brothers, J. J. Cale, Emmylou Harris, Bryan Adams, Bob Seger, Toto, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Helen Watson, Stevie Nicks, Robert Palmer, and Bonnie Raitt.
That is a hell of a list. Thanks.
It's time for some Tower Of Power. What Is Hip!
They got the cure for covid, too - "Soul Vaccination."
or you're still a young man
Both of those 👆 are great tunes! That's a trip down memory lane! I forget all these great tunes until someone else remembers them. It's hell getting old! ✌️❤️
@@joeday4293 Great song!
And the Sons of Champlin, one of the Bay Area's best.
So glad you hit this one. But I'll echo everyone else - you've got to listen to the Waiting for Columbus live version (the entire album actually) - a completely different (and better) experience.
I have been listening to Little since 1974 and was lucky enough to see them multiple times with Lowell George. They are one of those rare bands, although their albums are great, They are better Live!! Put on Waiting For Columbus. Anything from that album is great!
Yes!! Little Feat. My fav songs the amazing Lowell George wrote are Cold, Cold, Cold, into Tripe Face Boogie it ROCKS HARD. You would definately love it!! I KNOW it would be, at least, an A. I was lucky to see Little Feat with Lowell George. He passed too young.
You should have read the lyrics. I think the twist at the end makes it an A all by itself.
GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING A&A FAMILY!!!
☮️❤️♾️
Gooood morning John!
@@joannasunday 🥰
I was lucky to see Little Feat in the 70s when Lowell George was still alive. Fantastic show and vibe. I've since seen LF 6 more times and have most everything they ever released. Tight, tight, tight. YOu guys are great but a bit too uptight on the vocal delivery--we were all pretty slosshy in the 70s-including studio time
Dang I've never been this early to get lost in the sauce! Looking forward to this one; it was a staple of my childhood 💙
Little Feat is a must hear live Band and Waiting for Columbus is a must listen!
One of the rare times when I prefer the live version over the studio
Hey, boys, don't forget your lyric checks! 30% of the delight of this song is in the irony and the surprise of the lyrics. 20% is in the unusual piano chords. The other 50% is captured in what you said... I forgive you!
A&A most definitely did not get the story.
You need to listen to live version of this song off of Waiting for Columbus.....
I'll be your Tennessee lamb" is the lyrics for that part of the song
AWB next please. Those pieces need picked up.
Tennessee Rye ROFL! Uhhh How do you get Rye out of LAMB.
S tier kids.
S+ if you listen to the live version on Waiting For Columbus!
i've always loved this song. talk about conjuring a mood, with a great story. you feel like you're hanging in a southern bar with these guys as the story unfolds.
One reviewer (I forget his name) described Little Feat's music as moving like "a 200 pound topless taco waitress in an earthquake."
Alex, the chorus is, "If you'll be my Dixie Chicken, I'll be your Tennessee Lamb".
Which promises do you still need to deliver on? I'm glad you asked! Here are some of them:
Neil Young - Cowgirl in the Sand
Steely Dan - Dirty Work
Steely Dan - Aja
Steely Dan - Deacon Blues
Grateful Dead - Truckin’
The Smiths - How Soon Is Now?
Yardbirds - Heart Full of Soul
Badfinger - Day After Day
The only one of these I'll second is the Smiths tune. The others? Okay, I'll watch them, but I don't feel strongly about them. A&A should also keep their Patti Smith promise. And their Stone Roses promise.
They can’t ignore the Dead forever. Too major.
Love this song! So fun with windows down and singing at the top of your lungs ‘If you’ll be my Dixie Chicken, I’ll be your Tennessee Lamb”!
Willin'by them is one of the great road songs ever,an ode to truckers
The groove, the rythm, the raggedy vocals are all part of the Little Feat sound. It's sounds odd if you're not accustomed to those New Orleans type grooves. Check out The Meters, Neville Brothers, Allen Toussaint, etc. to understand where Little Feat is coming from.
Jamie, you're 100% on the money. Well said.
Live is where it’s at with Little Feat. They’re just one of those bands that are known for their live performances!
I LOVE THIS SONG! There's a great live version with Emilou Harris and Bonnie Rait doing back-up vocals. Might be a midnight special show.
Yes, I think it was Midnight Special.
That isn't a great version, it's mixed terribly
I'll be looking for this.
Love Little Feat. Love this recording. Little Feat live is better. Waiting for Columbus
Little Feat...great band! Lowell George...great musician/songwriter! Backing vocals Bonnie Raitt & Linda Ronstadt...& Bonnie Bramlett of duo Delaney & Bonnie singing lead along with Lowell George as well as background vocals. Great song! Love this reaction!
You guys missed the most important part of the song.....the lyrics and the story it told.
Love me some Little Feat. They are much better live! Waiting For Columbus is one of the greatest live albums.
I had to check the lyrics (which are cool) to find out what goes on in the song. Second half of the first line of the chorus is “Tennessee Lamb”.
I'll be your Tennessee Lamb....
Tennessee LAMB!!
There actually is MORE to listening to music than focusing on every conceivable flaw or imperfection.
Many of the imperfections were what made music in our day awesome. Music isn’t always meant to be “clean.”
The point is for them to discuss what they heard.
Southern-fried Funk!!!
That somehow came from San Francisco. Little Feat and Creedence Clearwater Revival are the top two California bands that have been knighted as honorary Southerners.
@@joeday4293 Little Feat more out of Los Angeles but your point is spot on!
@@ykmgeedee You are correct, I misspoke. Still, how did all that Louisiana find its way into their playing from way out there?
The live version of this song is far superior, particularly the one from the Waiting for Columbus album.
Musicianship of each and every performer in this band is exceptional, so says everyone who would know.
See live concert to verify their extraordinary interaction.
Looking forward to some Little Feat! Live is best...
Great surprise ending to this song. A good intro to the band.
Try their "All That You Dream" from The Last Record Album, or their live "Apolitical Blues" with a guest guitar solo by Mick Taylor from Waiting For Columbus.
The Waiting For Columbus live version is better. That whole album is good
I'm surprised that there aren't more comments on The Last Record Album, been my favourite with Waiting for Columbus for years. Mercenary Territory, Romance Dance, just two of the great songs on TLRA.
Those guys were legends here in Washington, D.C. This is their 2nd home. They always had a HUGE following here.
Easy to Slip, Willin’, Fat Man in the Bathtub, Tripe Face Boogie, Two Trains Runnin’, Spanish Moon.....
Spanish Moon or anything from Waiting for Columbus
Waiting For Columbus. In my humble opinion one of the top three live albums ever released. If you start turning that LP you'll never stop. Top Shelf for sure !
I lived in Austin for 10 years mid80-90. Saw a Who’s Who list of bands that came through. Saw The Feat 4 times and they were hands down without a doubt the best live shows I’ve ever been to.
Rock and roll doctor-live at the Rainbow Room. Blow your socks off. Willin’ is a good choice too.
So psyched for this track Wed.
Lookin' at the devil, grinnin' at his gun
Fingers start shakin', I begin to run
Bullets start chasin', I begin to stop
We begin to wrestle I was on the top

Stiff all in the collar, fluffy in the face
Chit chat chatter tryin', stuffy in the place
Thank you for the party but I could never stay

Willin' will always be my favourite Little Feat track.
The live Dixie Chicken on Waiting for Columbus is the next level.
Revisit this with the live version soon.
So used to listening to the live version off of 'Waiting For Columbus" that this almost sounded like a different song. Kind of a letdown. No comparison. Kind of like Yes, and "Yours Is No Disgrace".
The quintissential Little Feat sound is Fat Man in the Bathtub--the version off the Waiting For Columbus album.
As everyone is saying here fellas, the live version and let it play right into the next song Tripe Face Boogie.
Bingo! That’s what I say, right into TFB. That’s a boogie rocker like few others.
One of my favorites
The first time I've never heard a song you have reacted to. Where have I been? This was a greeeat song! Thanks, it's a keeper... Of course I am currently on the easy side right now.
Killer band that was kind of under the radar until the live album, Waiting for Columbus when they blew up.
never heard this before. I like it
Lowell George, the singer and guitar player, played guitar and sang for years behing Frank Zappa. It might not seem like it, but there is a lot going on with this band, Live they really streatch out. You should hear something off their live album: Waiting for Columbus
If you do the song "Willin'" it MUST be the live Waiting For Columbus version. please
Willin' is probably the one song on Waiting for Columbus that I can definitely say the studio version is better. The very first version they put out kind of sucked but the version on Sailing Shoes is awesome.
@@61hink I'm pretty sure the live version was the first version I heard. I fell in love with that album and when I heard the studio version later it just felt...different.
Not BAD different. But I'd become accustomed to the live version by then.
