One of my favorite bands, period. Saw them live multiple times and got filled with funk! Listen to Spanish Moon and definitely check the lyrics, they're great!
Mr. George pronounced his name Low-ell, like the city in Massachusetts, but that's not important, the important part is you need to listen to the version on the live album Waiting For Columbus, and then listen to the rest of the album. I think you will enjoy it a lot. The band you saw in the video, with the Tower Of Power Horn section, and recorded at night, in front of a live crowd, the true experience. Not 9 am in some TV studio.
If you like this, you DEFINITELY have to listen to "Waiting for Columbus". The live version of this song is 10x better and the whole album is amazing. Definitely a fun one to puff to.
You have not even scratched the surface. I hope you will continue down this path. Try "Skin It Back", one of the tunes that hooked me on this band over forty years ago. Much Funk.
There really are no high quality videos of this band due the technology at that time. Go find the Waiting For Columbus CD and you will be blown away. One of the top 5 Live recordings of all time.
glad you've been introduced to Little Feat The show was Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC. Also the singers first name is Lowell, like "Lowl" (almost like "oh well" but not as hard a pause. ) not "Lyle"
Your reaction, Mz D, was exactly mine when I first saw them live in the UK, supporting the Who.....you starting shimmying and bopping.........seeing all these headbangers at the gig, doing the same! More than 40 years I was doing the same in Boston last year. The band continues to produce the goods. They draw on all sources....can’t be categorised . Lowell spent time with Frank Zappa, that little bit of weirdness gained from that! Oh, all the percussion toys came out of the trunk on that afternoon.....the cool Bob Harris intro’d them on the Old Grey Whistle Test...on BBC Channel 2, the brainchild of that amazing man, David Attenborough, Blue Planet presenter..check him out.
@Miss D...lol....a part of the song lyrics in the same song title "Dixie chicken" goes....I'll be your Dixie chicken if you'll be my Tennessee lamb.... 😏😘
Hey lady... this is what us wild eyed white boys rocked out to in the 70's. When Little Feat come on on the juke box, the girls who got up to shake it on the floor, well... they were the ones who liked to "boogie" - if You know what I mean
I know that you were looking for a video... but, if you want to experience Little Feat for real, you really should check out ' Waiting for Columbus'...also, you might want to lend an ear to the later "reformation" of the band with Michelle Murphy on vocals (a little feminine energy can only make a thing better)... peace...
I've always understood it that the fat man was in the bathtub as a customer of poor Billy's beloved, who happened to be a prostitute, who only saw poor Billy as another occasional customer!
Fat Man in the Bathtub is slang for (there really isn't a sophisticated way to say this) an erect clitoris. Do I have to explain anything else about the lyrics?

One of the most eclectic and influential American rock bands ever! Oh, and the Dixie Chicks got their name from one of their songs.

Layers of funk here.
Sure is!
Rock and Roll doctor from the same set is fire 👍👍The announcer was Bob Harris and the show was The old grey whistle test .

The show was The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC2, hosted by Whispering Bob Harris.

The video of them playing at Rockpalast in 1977 is excellent quality. (Same tour as the Waiting for Columbus concerts)
Thanks for checking this out.
Thanks for watching!
TOP GRADE LIVE ALBUM - Waiting For Columbus from the 70s and it being Little Feat and a double album is the best of any combinations possible ..
Oh yes, you definitely want to give those lyrics a good going over.
that announcer was Long John Baldry.
glad you've been introduced to Little Feat

Love you D.Lynn. One of my top, close to the hip bands.

My guess this is from The Old Gray Whistle Test a English rock show that was on around the 70-80s.
If you give it a listen again, you must chk out the live concert album Waiting for Columbus.
They literally blow open the show with Fat Man
❤️❤️❤️❤️

Gotcha!😁
Gotta listen to a live version where Lowell George hasn't just shot up just before playing.
One of most entertaining live bands I've ever heard, even if it was the "reformed" group.
Get a copy of their Waiting For Columbus. The Feats won't fail you!

Like - Like. You're correct. Steve is pronounced, "STEEEV". I hope that helps. 😉
Was good on the first name, but thank you for playing...❌
