Lowell George could sang - not sing, but sang! I'm 68. I discovered Little Feat in the early 70's before Lowell died. Oh, my goodness, what a phenomenal band. I hope you check out more of their music.
One of the best concerts I ever attended was L. F. and Bonnie Raitt at the Fox Theater in Atlanta GA. Hearing Lowell and Bonnie singing Guilty together was sublime.
I totally agree. Little Feat was one of my favorite band and still is. I will always warmly remember Lowell George. I saw them live in October, 1978. I had just given birth to my son 9 days prior. Nothing would have kept me from seeing them in concert. Lowell died not long after. Their music always brings a smile to my heart.
Had the good fortune to see Little Feat with Lowell George on their tour to promote this live album, "Waiting For Columbus", unfortunately no Tower Of Power Horn Section at my show, but it was still one of the greatest of the 500 or so concerts I have attended. Without a doubt. I enjoyed it so much i have seen Feat another ten times since, all without the late , great Lowell. RIP Lowell, Paul Barrere and Richie Heyward. Other members of Little Feat, Bill Payne, Kenny Gradney and Sam Clayton. Great band, great music and great times.
Spanish Moon was a fictional club with whisky and bad cocaine. This was one of Little Feat's biggest hits. Funky jazzy, totally entertaining. Love the bass, the drums, the guitars, reminiscent of the 70's sound, that blasted the clubs back then. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Bushy. Fantastic song. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
The correct way to hit "Dixie Chicken" is off Waiting for Columbus, paired with "Tripe Face Boogie" - it'll be 15 minutes well spent. "Fat Man in the Bathtub" is my forever favorite, though, followed pretty closely by "Rock and Roll Doctor." For a really good studio cut, try "Easy to Slip."
Always been fond of thier Time Loves a Hero record. Never thought the band was the same after Lowell George passed. All the greats seem to pass way too early.
Merry Clayton gave a free concert that I saw in southern Illinois and my friend walked up to the stage and requested they play Gimme Shelter and they did! It was great!
I saw these guys live when they were the opening act for Linda Ronstadt (I think). They had everyone on their feet by the end of the set. Great band! Thanks Bushy Prout! Nice take Harri🌺✌️
Well how did I miss you reacting to one of my top favorite bands doing one of my top favorite tunes? Little Feat are such a groove! Fantastic energy live and perfection in the studio. Can't go wrong diving into this band's library! 👣
This was my father's all time favorite band. I grew up listening to all of their stuff I remember being at his house as a kid and him asking me what I wanted to listen to and it was either the MTV album (Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms) or the tomato soup album (Waiting for Columbus - Little Feat) I just couldn't get enough..he's been gone almost 3 years now and I couldn't be more thankful for him giving me the love of music that I have.
Don't know if Spanish Moon actually existed, but Little Feat had some notoriously wild times in Houston, so I always imagine it there. There, or New Orleans.
Harri, this is widely regarded as one of the five best live rock albums--the production and performance of these songs is IMO better than their studio originals. Lowell George was an unappreciated master, blending funk, southern rock, and jazz into something unique and wonderful. If you want to back in more funk, brilliance, and tawdry tales, I heartily recommend Dixie Chicken, and Fat Man In The Bathtub. I appreciate you. 🙏
Most of the band members have passed on, LOWELL GEORGE, RICH HAYWARD, PAUL BARRERE, RIP....STILL ALIVE BASS KEN GRADNEY, BILL PAYNE KEYS, SAM CLAYTON PERCUSSION. ALL KILLERS.
So good to see your reaction to the Band that inspired me to attend music school and become a singer -- on the Warner Brothers label, they introduced me to the most talented musicians, and bands! Dixie Chicken was the song everybody knew - take a listen - lyrics always SLAY! Lowell George was one of the best slide guitarists ever, his influence still lives in Bonnie Raitt, who I still see performing today. All the women singers who wove the fabric of my youth - Emmylou Harris, Linda Rondstadt, Bonnie Bramlett -- they all gave me a career! Kenny Gradney, bass player extrodinaire and Richie Hayward - my favorite drummer bar none were the tightest rhythym section in a band EVER!!!!!!!! There's so much more! Keep it up HarriBest! I'm a fan forever now!
A lovely comment to Harri. You have some lofty stable-mates at Warners, and had iconic singers to grow up on - nice to know the synergy continues. Susan Tedeschi geeked out on Mahalia Jackson, as I coveted Bonnie's slide before I knew she sang - guess that guitar player sure could play.
this has been one of my favorite songs ever. The album Waiting for Columbus is ALL like this....they were SUCH a great band back there. I THINK that's the Tower of Power horns....but don't quote me on that.
I just found Columbus in among a couple of thousand cds and yes it stands the test of time just like the great seventies album from Who, UFO, Thin Lizzy and others . But Little Feat song number one is Willin
And George played in "The Mothers of Invention" with Zappa. I heard one story that Zappa let him go because of his drug use. The other story was that Zappa read the lyrics to "Willin" Maybe a bit of both stories.
AFrican beat called Merengue. Walking in chains, only stepping on the 2 & 4. Otherwise, wiggle around all you want. Great recording, the brother is grooving. Check out the Viince Gill version.
Yes, it needs to carry on .. and on .... Great stuff indeed...! Came across this band and this track only a couple of months ago ... rather thought it was you who led me to it, but obviously not ... !
_"You can lose it all down at the Spanish Moon"_ -- you have been warned! And along those lines, how about *"Whiskey, Women and Loaded Dice"* by Joe Liggins and His Honeydrippers. Or Sticks McGhee, which I think is the original version.
Little "Feet" not "Fit"! History will show that they were one of the greatest progressive rock/blues/jazz groups that influenced the sounds of so many artists and bands performing at their time and those who followed. Lowell George was the Mozart of that genre.
The most underrated band ever.
Grand Funk Railroad just said "Hold My beer!" lol
Waiting for Columbus is one of best live albums ever! With the Tower of Power horns there's no way you lose with this one...
I fully agree it took me over 40 years to get a copy🎼🎶🎶🎼🎵
@@samuelgates5935 hahaha. I’ve had my copy for over forty years. 🤣✌✌
Yes❣️❣️❣️
word!
What he said.
Lowell George could sang - not sing, but sang! I'm 68. I discovered Little Feat in the early 70's before Lowell died. Oh, my goodness, what a phenomenal band. I hope you check out more of their music.
It's a shame the Rock & Roll Doctor couldn't save Lowell.
One of the best concerts I ever attended was L. F. and Bonnie Raitt at the Fox Theater in Atlanta GA. Hearing Lowell and Bonnie singing Guilty together was sublime.

One of the tightest rhythm sections ever assembled. I was lucky enough to be at the concert in this video in 1977.
How sick was Spanish Moon live?
The horn section is The Tower of Power's horn section a fellow California band.
Never heard of this band until I stumbled upon them at summer camp this year in IL. Best musical experience of my life.
Thrilled they were just outside my hometown of Chillicothe for the festival.
Yep still great.
Really great seeing Little Feat getting some love. Thanks for the reaction.
Harri do your self a favor get this album Waiting for Columbus. And play it in one sitting. It is in fact the greatest live album ever produced.
Actually saw them in Glasgow in 1976 , part of The Who Put The Boot In Tour. One of the best ever bands, Long Distance Love is perfection.
I remember crying when Lowell George died. This music does not age.
Had the good fortune to see Little Feat with Lowell George on their tour to promote this live album, "Waiting For Columbus", unfortunately no Tower Of Power Horn Section at my show, but it was still one of the greatest of the 500 or so concerts I have attended. I saw that tour too, it was my first time seeing them and I was instantly hooked. So glad I got to see Lowell before he died.
Thanks
Harri and Bushy. Fantastic song. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Not a fictional nightclub the club was “Richards” in Atlanta GA 1970 -1972 Monroe Dr & 10th
Try their song Dixie Chicken!
But not the awful Midnight Special version.
Most definitely worth the trouble for you to dig deep on these guys!
Feat at the absolute peak of their power, incredible.
Nobody funks harder than the Feat
Ask Led Zepplin who they were listening to at this time. Definitely one of the greatest live albums of all time.
If you have ever been to Memphis, this song epitomizes it. Great jam, BTW Atlanta is another great jam of theirs
RIP Lowell!! ❤
Little Feat are Awesome live in concert. We saw them at the Ryman this year.
Sam Clayton was the guy playing the Conga... his sister was the female voice on The Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter"
Merry Clayton gave a free concert that I saw in southern Illinois and my friend walked up to the stage and requested they play Gimme Shelter and they did! It was great!
The conga is as important to this song as is the bass line or the horns... You can't leave anything out of this simple yet extremely complex number.
That BASS...IS CRAZY🤠😎🤠🎼🎶🎼
One hell of a low down dirty funky jam. RIP Lowell George 🙏
Google Tower of Power Horns. They worked with EVERYBODY!
I think this is about Little Feat's best tune.
Don't know if Spanish Moon actually existed, but Little Feat had some notoriously wild times in Houston, so I always imagine it there. There, or New Orleans.
Saw Little Feat at the Fox Theater in Atlanta in about 1978. They were fantastic. Any album is worth the listen - they’re all good.
'Don't care who, you can wake up in ruin; You can lose it all down at the Spanish Moo-in'. Gotta love that line!
Feat are in my all-time top ten....Funk before funk was a commercial thang.
I was at this show when they recorded Waiting for Columbus at Lisner Hall GWU. The Tower of Power Horns definitely brought the FUNK!❤️
This song always reminds me of partying at the Boys Town in Ojinaga Mexico back in the early 70s. Wild times. LOL
Love their song New Dehli Freight Train.
A terrific selection and reaction. Thank you Bushy and Harri! I can never get enough Little Feat.
They were always good live... saw them several times in the 70s
The musicianship is off the scale, every part is super cool, especially the bass.
Most of the band members have passed on, LOWELL GEORGE, RICH HAYWARD, PAUL BARRERE, RIP....STILL ALIVE BASS KEN GRADNEY, BILL PAYNE KEYS, SAM CLAYTON PERCUSSION. ALL KILLERS.
A little late to the party, but I had to say that I was at this concert in 1978 - still the best concert I've ever been to!

I love this song and I love Little Feat!
You're the BestHarri! Another great reaction!
this has been one of my favorite songs ever. The album Waiting for Columbus is ALL like this....they were SUCH a great band back there. I THINK that's the Tower of Power horns....but don't quote me on that.
The groove is really in the Vince Gill version (Join the Band). At 3:11, marimba solo, bass solo, keyboard solo all in a row.
Agreed hombre, that bass line at the end is NASTY
Someone listening to Little Feat! Nice!
I just found Columbus in among a couple of thousand cds and yes it stands the test of time just like the great seventies album from Who, UFO, Thin Lizzy and others . But Little Feat song number one is Willin
Best band ever!!!
Yes Yes Yes!
The Spanish Moon must be on the same street as The House Of The Rising Sun.
Dude, it's pronounced "little feet", and thank you for reacting to this!!
Down On The Farm is great too, it's a fun 1. id love to see your reaction to it ❣️
Sat in the front row of their show at the London Rainbow in '75. They're been my favourite band ever since.
And George played in "The Mothers of Invention" with Zappa. I heard one story that Zappa let him go because of his drug use. The other story was that Zappa read the lyrics to "Willin" Maybe a bit of both stories.
I like it too !
Harri I'm taken aback 😳 You never heard this 😵💫I still love ya😎🇺🇸
the feeling is mutual my brother. you make great choices,, if one asks me, lol
The guys in Little Feat are some of the best musicians in the world. Listen to Dixie Chicken from the album 'Waiting for Columbus'.
AFrican beat called Merengue. Walking in chains, only stepping on the 2 & 4. Otherwise, wiggle around all you want. Great recording, the brother is grooving. Check out the Viince Gill version.
Its in Terlingua Texas called the High Sierra.
Kenny Gradneys bass is amazing on this cut
Don't stop dude, that base was just revving up!
Perhaps someone has suggested it, but Willin’. By Little Feat. Then, Linda Ronstats version of Willin’. Both are awesome
talking to each other.
You should check out Gov't Mule's cover of this song.
Don't know how he can stand up let along sing...but little 'feet' are the bomb. You got em right Harri. Dang they made some good music.
Funny ed jurdi was in this band
As one of the guitar players
Waiting for Columbus is one of the best live albums you'll ever enjoy! I highly recommend you check it out.
Yes, it needs to carry on .. and on .... Great stuff indeed...! Came across this band and this track only a couple of months ago ... rather thought it was you who led me to it, but obviously not ... !
Yippppeeee!
Album version might have the most impact…😊
Mama warned us.
_"You can lose it all down at the Spanish Moon"_ -- you have been warned!
And along those lines, how about *"Whiskey, Women and Loaded Dice"* by Joe Liggins and His Honeydrippers. Or Sticks McGhee, which I think is the original version.
So for any further Little Feet sonmgs get them from the live "Waiting for Columbus" recording I must have worn 3 copies before the cd came out.
check out feel the groove
Now you have to react to Fat Man In The Bathtub by Little Feat,
They pronounce it as Feet.
Why are they not in the RRHofF?
Little "Feet" not "Fit"! History will show that they were one of the greatest progressive rock/blues/jazz groups that influenced the sounds of so many artists and bands performing at their time and those who followed. Lowell George was the Mozart of that genre.
Last call for alcohol!!
You don't have to go home, but ya can't stay here...
Stoned Jam .
Pronounced Feet
