      @@SlippyLimpets By all means do what you do, it is enjoyable. However when you reach the age of around 50 you realise what you have within arms reach. You have a unique approach to your videos, it is hard work but we love it. Once David gets your casting better (on our shallow shores - remember declivity?) catches will improve. Until then try everywhere.

    Another cracking vid Nathan 👍🏻what I do with mussels because they can be a pain to whip on is when you shell them put them in the finest vermiculite you can get the stuff what you buy from pet shops for reptiles..it's really fine ! It soaks up the juices and makes them firmer to whip on with fine bait elastic.. but the best bit is the tiny vermiculite particles flow of the bait in the tide making a sent trail for mister coddo to home onto ..just something I've thought of and don't know any other angler that does this .. try it pal you won't be disappointed.. plus I use the same tiny vermiculite to add to my blow lug once I've pumped them it's firms them ace and makes them so easy to thread on a baiting needle without them blowing .. I love to share my ideas If anyone interested.. keep up the good videos 👍🏻

    love the vids mate keep up the great work, on this location arbroah can be good but you really need the right conditions for it ie easterly winds but it isn't as rductive as it used to be a few years ago but it can still produce a fish or 2, a better location would havee been a bit further up the coast at inverbervie, usan, auchmithie or head further up to catterline that place is awesome we fished it about 5 years ago with the honwave sib just outside the old harbour rntrance we were nailing mackies that were HUGE the 1st 1 i hooked i thought i'd nailed a decent pollock tuned out it was a huge mackie the size of a 3-4lb pollock frkkin massive and lots of rocky ground around the haarbour and either side of it that should throw up cod/pollock or from the cliffs if you can find decent reachable marks in either direction.

I thought they look brilliant but none of them were cheap and I know I'd be devastated it I cast n snapped one. The one I saw was a sphere and and its not likely to snagg , I only mentioned it cuz I heard you say about the waves stopping over an underwater hole and thought it'd be ideal if in an area where you didn't know what was out infront of especially in a spot where even at low tide its still 50 to 60 ft deep.

    Watching from New Zealand it does surprise me how big a baits you guys use for small to medium sized fish. We use a single recurve 4/0 hook, with a much smaller piece of bait. Say just a squid head for snapper to 20lb

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  Год назад

      If the fish are there then we don't need big baits to help draw them in. Kind of like a castable burley bag. They also help stop the smaller fish from taking the bait

    Right where you moved the first time is an absolute tackle graveyard. Actually, that entire shoreline is. I don't fish there anymore because I can't afford to lose that many leads. There are fish to be caught, but it's a costly trip. There's a couple of boats that go out from the harbour, weather permitting, and theyre usually worth a punt. Fishing the cages on the harbour wall can produce too.

      A rod will only load from the tip down to the spool of the reel. Having an extra 1-2 feet of rod to compress helps a bit, also the reel being lower acts as a counterweight making the rod better balanced. A reducer will help keep your reel out the sand.

    It can be a right grind up here at times, it hasn't been easy for a few years now, but lots of small ones like you had around this year so hopefully the numbers will pick up again the next few years. The moon tides won't have done you any favours either. The mark you had the fish on gets fished by quite a few folk. It's ok but not as consistent as other marks north or south.
