  • I've had my eye on fishing this mark for a number of years and finally made the commitment to try and fish it. Lure fishing was the chosen method with cod and pollack being the target species.
    Question is, is the effort worth the reward?

    Breaking news just in.... A popular RUclipsr and fisherman was rescued by helicopter from an isolated coastal rock ledge today after becoming literally helpless with laughter at the amusing antics of the local seals as they snaffled and yoinked his catch. Doctors who treated him report that they had to administer what would normally be a fatal overdose of misery pills just to bring him down from hysterical paroxysmal paralysis to a safe though still uncontrollable level of chortling. 'I literally nearly died laughing' said the man, still wiping tears of unparalleled joy from his eyes several hours later as he recalled seeing a seal come to the surface just yards away to flag him off while necking his trophy fish after an arduous climb and hours carrying heavy equipment. Doctors said a full recovery is expected but that if anything nearly as funny happens to him again 'it could be curtains'.

      It's hard to pick up but I was testing every dodgy looking rock (tapping each one to hear if it's hollow) I used just in case there was a lose rock around, should have worn a head cam rather than a chestie to show it. I've spent too long climbing to ruin my fishing. Tight lines 👍🎣

    Well! I never ever thought I would see anyone mad or skillfull enough to fish there. I’ve seen a white goat out there standing atop with his chest puffed out. Gallus is the word! It’s 45 mins on boat from Dunbar and in good conditions is a beautiful stretch of coastline. Caught biggest ballan wrasse I’ve ever seen not far away. You’d love it on a boat around there, it looks so much more dangerous and challenging in real life than video can show. Hats off to you boys!

    Nice walk/climb to a mint mark!! Wish we had such places to fish here in the Netherlands...what we do have though SEALS. They Rob your fish while reeling them in (for us it is seabass). Now we have found an alternative to get your lure back! Slack your line, (i mean open up your reel completely) and the seal will surface to eat your fish in front of you. When done eating usually they trow out the head of the fish WITH your lure. Seeing that, reel in the fishes head ASAP, they tend to even get it again andrepeat the process until you reel in a fishes head with your lure in it 😉
    Best of luck guys!!

    I had my best bass fishing session in a seal cove. When they surrounded my boat, i thought it was going to be a waste of time , but I was casting within yards of them and catching time after time😀

      There was one time I made a stupid mistake and ended up in the drink, and suffered so pretty bad barnacle rash. Took me at least 10 minutes to figure out how to get back out, only managed it after a bit of breathing and calming down. I've been in more dodgy situations in the alps in winter when faced with avalanches and collapsing frozen waterfalls, so it helps put things into perspective. Glad you liked it mate👍🎣

    Thats gone to favourites 😁 great vid Nathan, I did a similar thing when I was in Cornwall by the wheal prosper mine , left the wife and dog at the top of the cliff, just climbed down and fished 🐟😀 apparently two young lads said to my wife we want to fish there how did he get down she pointed the way both looked over the ledge said f@#$ that walked on 🤣 to be fair on the way down was thinking I'm too old for all this ! Great video again Nathan, that's some mark you've found. Found a similar one south of Port Logan, not as far to get along but you could tell no one fished it cos of the gulls nesting on it. You done well to get as many fish out with the amount of seals there though.

    Proper awesome job that one lads ! Great effort and well rewarded, always wondered what that would fish like. Never had a seal take a Pollack, had them follow them in when hooked but not take them. They will take the Cod though. Bloke that used to run a charter in that rea reckoned when they threw fish to the seals back at harbour they wouldn't look at the Pollack.
    If you have a seal take a fish, just give them slack line and they will bite the head off and you will usually get your lure and a head back, works up here anyway.

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  Год назад +1

Seems to be a stack of fish further south of ,mate from Yorkshire and his mates having a great season since October, some quality fish as well. I might see you Thursday as i'm guessing you will be fishing with someone local that's looking for some social media exposure, lol and the forecast and tides would suggest a certain area. I hope it's not one of the wallopers, there's a few of them up here that do some "guiding",lol.
