That's the closest you can get to losing a net, without losing the net :) My daughter and I spent the last 5 days in a cottage near Castle Douglas but the weather was pretty awful so we hiked with the dog rather than risk fishing the rocks. Next time... I always carry a filled spare spool and an identical spare reel. I didn't used to do this, until my Penn Clash 2500 failed on a decent Pollock when I was several miles offshore on the Prowler. I swore I would never let that happen again, so I carry a spare spool AND reel, just in case. Medals and promotions for getting out - some nice fish for your trouble :)
The weather has been pretty awful over that way so good going getting out, despite the weather. Funny you should say that since only reel I've had fail has been a Penn. My Daiwa Bg Mag has never failed in 5 years and that's without being well maintained, saying that I always carry a spare loaded spool, just didn't bother unpacking it since the fish seemed closer in. All the best and tight lines👍🎣
Phew! You really had to work for those fish today. What with nearly chucking your net away, fighting the wind rain and cold, the loss and destruction of quite a few lures, and then snapping your landing net......all in a days fishing. Top angling Nathan, very enjoyable watch. Happy new year to you and family. Arthur.
Another great video. I admire your restraint that there is not one swear word despite the adversity faced. Nearly dropped your net in the tide, then broke it, numerous lost lures and losing all that braid. Rain and wind howling and no one “oh bugger” 😅.
Cheers Michael! Strangely, most of my sessions seem to be like this 🤣 BTW, your rod left today. I'll email you the tracking details a little later on👍👍
Great video Nathan. Patience of a Saint with the snags, lost lures and line. Felt really sorry for you when you picked up your net realising it was broken. Tight lines from Pembrokeshire.
Just love your enthusiasm and resilience, hitting snags, snapping of,the weather etc and just getting on with it,northern grit mate, excellent video as always nath, all the best for 2023,ps get the beard regrown, you look to young to be on those rocks 🤣
Glad you got some nice pollock and managed to catch your net before it got away aswell. Supatracks are great i have them on my waders and they make a huge difference and last a long time.
Yep agreed, I never used to fish in the rain because of those rocks, studs mean I can fish more and get wet. Hope you're getting out soon and tight lines👍🎣
Ah, so it was you who found it. I was fishing that day, had a great session while the police went round to my house and told the missus it was me lying there at the bottom. Couldn't fish for a month after that. experience.
At least I managed to keep the net head, would have been double the price to replace the head as well as the handle. My pleasure as always and tight lines Ray 👍🎣
To make your lures weedless, if you thread a piece of rubber band ( around 1cm wide and 4cm long or as required) onto the hook before the hook is threaded through the soft plastic lure. The rubber band should be pushed up just under the hook eye. So then just get the other tail end of the rubber band and push the point of the hook into the end of the rubber band ( not the side of the rubber band but into the end) this will make a bridge across the mouth of the hook and when a fish hits it, the rubber band just falls away.. It should save losing a lot of lures.
Most definitely mate Just got myself a Savage gear lure rod . Got a Shimano 3000 Katana reel with 20lb Diawa J braid on and a 3ft fluro carbon leader attached. Got some Savage gear lures and tbh a mountain of other lures, very addictive 😆 👍🎣🎣
Crikey, lure fishing is an expensive pastime! 😂 My best catch last year without a doubt, was me successfully managing to retrieve my new case of K2’s which had slipped out my unzipped lure/bumbag, whizzing out to see on an ebbing tide and offshore breeze! Rescued all thanks to some fortunate casting and the trusty Patch 125! Not much of a fight but I was over the moon 😂. I got those same vibes watching you save your net. Some lovely pale pollack. They looked like they were pale blue, which is not surprising given how cold it was. Cheers
I was thinking about heading South to eyemouth for a change next week take a lure rod with a few metals if the water stays clear also the normal gear cart wings lug squid etc ,, down around the caravan park, golf course area having only been there once on the boat I'm not sure about the area apart from the reading up I've done etc and I do have a couple of ideas,, some reports of really good fish coming out when the sea is running,, it should be pretty flat by next weekend,, I jst wondered if there was advice you could throw in to improve our chances 🐟🐟😊👍
I've only fished with bait up there twice, one blank and one decent session. Water was clear and flat both times so don't have that much experience. Lures on the other hand, they'll work in most conditions. Most of the marks fish, but if it's flat then have a look on navionics for the deep water (tends to be on the golf course side). The canons is a popular mark on the caravan site side is tidal- only fishable for a couple of hours either side of low - but the golf course side is more accessible in that respect. Best tip for winter lure fishing is to fish as slow and close to the seabed and structure as possible. Hope this helps and you get amongst them
As always an enjoyable watch Nathan 👍 cpl of nice Pollock for your efforts 🎣🎣 I fished eyemouth on Friday with bait and lures, nowt on the bait 🥴 and only coalies on the lures 🎣 still better than a blank
Eyemouth can be like that, looks really fishy and then it can be poor. Those coalies can be a pain at times but love catching them when there's nowt else around. Give St. Abbs a try next time, I've found it to be a bit better in the winter. Tight lines👍🎣
Cracking session mate excellent stuff💪👍 I knew there was something different that I couldn’t quite put my finger on, then realised it was the beard when you pointed it out☝️ All the Best🙋♂️
Haha, aye, it's a bit of a different look. Had a real shock when I'd finished shaving it off, seems my face has fallen foul to a middle-aged spread. Tight lines mate and keep those vids coming👍🎣
mint vid as always and we shit wa selfs making that leap as were all old farts kicking 60yrs old ..but thanks to you we have had some brilliant days fishing ....keep the vids coming happy days
@@SlippyLimpets well done lad. I’m just about at the point now. after losing 10+ nets to weak end blocks or poor designs, to just designing and machining a “supernet”, one which can’t break and that has a tether, so I can’t drop it.🤣🤣😭♥️♥️♥️🎣🎣🎣🐟
Winter Pollack are bonny fish, that's a decent winter lure sesh. It's still patchy up here on the cod but i've had lots more 5lb plus fish up to 10lb 5oz this winter than the last 2 so it's definitely been a better one. Huge amounts of undersize fish about just now , hopefully most of them make it a few years.
The was a decent little little report from up by one that I know will be accurate going to have a session this Friday but will be going further up than the usual places I've read a lot of your stuff on line over the years 👍 cheers
@@bertbasset8961 Everywhere getting hammered Bertie, you wouldn't believe the state of the paths and get downs in most places. Still fish to be caught but the closer to spot on tide and conditions for the mark you fish the better. Alf's emptying his end this year, unreal amount of decent ones and a couple of doubles. Have a good one when you are out, couple of mates out tonight doing pretty well, sadly i'm working til Friday.
Good going Rab, I guess the fella in the tackle shop who told us that 'you're too late for them this year' was talking out of his arse. Glad you're having a better winter. Tight lines and roll on the bass!
@@SlippyLimpets Yep, he was. Getting them in waves just off the back of initial sea. Plenty time yet, don't write it off this early. Can see me having a couple of March sessions this winter if weather is right as we have had some decent cold spells and the water is colder than it's been for a good few years (still not proper winter cold, no burn when you wash your hands in it). Mates had some nice ones to 9lb the other day, not hectic and they put a shift in between two areas, but it's definitely worth it this winter in comparison to the last two or three.
Another cool vid mate. You ever considered trying a 4000 size reel for the improved retrieve rate? Just a thought, with you having to wind like a madman across that kelp and reef lol..
I have mate, but there's a few reasons why I haven't. They're heavier and would affect my combo's balance out, I'd only gain 16 cm per crank by moving from 2500 to 4000. The 3rd is I really like the scrap🤣
Awesome video as usual mate, at least you caught some fish, I was along from here early Saturday morning for the first time and caught nothing but snags lol i can confirm what you said about the rocks, half the marks I wanted to try I didn't even attempt due to how slippy the rocks were after the rain. I'll definitely be investing in some studs. Thanks for sharing what knot you use as I've just started using braid and was using the double uni knot, every snag I lost the leader 😂 will be trying the fg knot for sure!
It's hard going at this time of year mate, I'm sure you'll get amongst them next time round. Studs have been a great investment, I didn't wear them for years and could only fish in the nicest weather but no I can out a lot more. Tight lines
@SlippyLimpets yeah I'm gonna try again soon so fingers crossed, can you give any tips on what conditions etc you look for before you go to places like this for lure fishing or do you have any videos where you have explained this sort of thing?
In all honesty, I just go fishing when I can. Some times it's good and others it's bad. But, a period of settled weather with a building tide period and fish on the ebb. The other thing is to keep moving, if one mark doesn't fish then don't think twice about moving to a different mark. Hope this helps
Nice one Nath. Harsh conditions but again you managed to eek out a couple of reasonable fish. Had to look twice with you shaving your beard off lol, I do sometimes, shave my beard off that is, always makes a refreshing change, but makes for a different look. As for the net, these things always happen when you least expect it, just bad timing, like you said. All the best buddy and tight lines.
I got chased out there by the rangers last time mind they were filming right enough but was told not to drive in again fishing was good tho I hate the climb back up!
Another great video but you frighten the life out of me climbing down those cliffs. I'm 81 this month so don't get out as much as I would like, Get this, my wife said you're not having any more fishing tackle! and then bought me a Penn Affinity 111 for Christmas!
Sounds like your wife has good taste in fishing tackle! Thanks for the comment and hope you get out and land some fish on your swanky new reel. Tight lines👍🎣
Expensive session Nathan - lost lures and broken net 🤦♂️ Few cracking fish though. Pollock are superb fighting fish. Pound for pound got to be right up there as one of the best 👌
Nice one Dave 😂! Good going for this time of year! Fully expected some cod there? Give me a shout if you're going out again... Or fancy a bait sesh up here? If it's dry, we could maybe go back to the pinnacle though! Itching to get out!!
I was surprised! Defo up for a trip back there, we'll keep an eye on the weather and head back as soon as the weekend weather is good and the tides are right. Cheers, Dave
Really enjoyable watch, thanks for sharing. Regard the lure glue, never found it to be much cop. You might get another cast or two out of it, but then I find once it's ripped it never swims true again so just better of changing as the risk of losing it to the rip increases anyhow.. do we need more plastic needlessly lost to the sea!?
It's a fair point. I guess it's that never-ending conflict between the environment and bank account- I must have a bin bag full of ripped soft plastics at home which looks like a bag of cash sitting there and hoped to save throwing them out.
@Slippy Limpets absolutely, that's the trade off with soft plastics now, you don't get much change out of a tenner now for a 3 pack of black minnow bodies.. shocking. I only tend to use them as blank savers now, last Bass of the year was a double on a gravity stick. Think I recall someone looking into melting down destroyed bodies and remoulding, obviously snag here being creating a good enough mould and cracking the pouring technique... keep up the good work, tight lines. 🙂
Watched this in my new Xmas Slippy t shirt. Good session there to be fair, those pollack had some scrap in them, could see them trying to dive. Edge of my seat when your net nearly went in, gutted it snapped at the end. Was going to ask you what make the net was, but I won't bother now 🤣 Thanks again for another cracking video.
Nice! Which one dif you get? I'd still recommend that net even though I snapped it, it was probably my fault. It normally is. My pleasure and tight lines👍🎣
Species hunter T. Got the TC lures collab and a big fish hood on the way too. Wife is slobbing it in her Slippy jogging pants 🤣 Go on then, what net/handle was it?
Hi Nath . . You should do a few videos as Dave he got a few nice pollack ! It's days/weather/& fish like that keep ya smiling. Really enjoyed the vid . . Keep em coming Tight Lines 🎣🎣👍
@@SlippyLimpets ha ha yeah good idea. . Just found out bout what you meant about doing an fg knot in lrf braid, bloody took me about half an hour. . . 👍🎣
Great vid as usual. Comment on studs in shoes: IMO They are great if the rocks are barnacled and/or knobbly and gnarly enough for the studs to key into, but I find them quite dangerous if the rock is that smooth igneous rock. The studs skate over the smooth rocks like ice, and for those rocks just good grippy soles with that elastic give to them seems better. Just depends on the area. Know our marks I suppose.
Haven't watched the whole video I just paused to comment, I've subscribed because your fishing in an area exactly same type of ground like I fish on the isle of man called scarlett, its a brilliant spot for Pollack, coalie, mackerel and the odd bass oh and obviously wrasse if you're fishing a ledger rig, I don't know about cod up there I've personally never caught one but I know people do get them 4 or 500 yards out boat fishing so they are there at a distance and I imagine this is the Time of year I'd catch them but it's way too dangerous to fish alone and the only person who would join me would get board in 10 minutes if he didn't hook up on a lure. Anyway I'm hoping you'll give some pointers in your video that would improve my chances.
I reckon if I can get up there during this month will be my best chance, some might say it's too l8 for cod now but I've caught in a harbour mid summer and not much further from the same pier out on a little boat I caught 1 and it was an April so could be in with a chance 🤔 😅
At first without the beard I thought it was an imposter........then you nearly dropped your net in the drink and I knew it was you 😁 Great video Nathan looking forward to what 2023 brings. Tight lines
I have, but think it could get in the way of me climbing back out if I did ever fall in the drink, I get that it could save me if I was unconscious, but if I wasn't then I would have to get rescued or have to deflate the vest before climbing out. It's a question I get a fair bit but for some reason, people don't suggest a climbing rope or helmet for the approach.
Hi David, great session, I don't think Nathan would of caught as much, nice fish for January on a lure, or anytime really. Can you tell me where the silver minnow things come from that Nathan uses, or anything cheap and chrome around 25 - 60g I've looked on eel bay but not much luck, cheers 👍
Hi Daz, That's why I employed David, he's a way better angler than me. I got David those lures from Billy's Tackle in North Shields and are available in 28, 49 and 60g. If his site is showing as out of stock then give him a call, he's rubbish at keeping his site up to date. Cheers, Nathan
Good to see you washed your face (or was it flaming sambucas?) 🤣 Epic session, shame about your net - hope you can fix it. Have you ever considered diving once a year to retrieve some of your (and others) lost lures? I picked up quite a few at spring low on some marks. Love the bloopers. Tight lines mate!
Haha, how did you know about the sambucas?🤣 Unfortunately, the nets diagnosis is terminal, I'll keep the head and try and get a warranty replacement, but I suspect I'll be buying a replacement. I hate the idea of diving, it seems alien, especially in those depths. If I could snorkel it, no worries, but would need full breathing apparatus for this place. Tight lines LV
Costly session Nathan loosing lures braid and breaking the net ☹️ but on the upside the Pollack put a good bend in your rod ... take care on those rocks mate 👍🎣🎣
Was thinking the beard trim might have taken all your fishing powers away? How wrong I was, that was some top angling to get those puppies out in the winter.
Yep, here you go. I got the 3.8m version www.predatortackle.co.uk/Landing-Nets/Landing-Handles/Spro-Freestyle-Xtender-Net-Handle-Double-Lock-Mechanism/
Probably me being heavy-handed, I broke my mates net as well. It probably broke because I dropped it down on the rock, slightly extended, and think the weight of net head snapped the handle
hi slippy another great video i’m off to scotland in may gonna fish some rocky marks nothing like what you fish off 😂 any advice on what’s the best foot wear for fishing rocky marks cheers
Hi mate, I tend to use approach shoes with or without studs. They're shoes meant for climbers walking to their climbs so are light, supportive and designed to be used on rocks. But with most shoes work if you add studs to them. Hope this helps and you have a good one in May
Great video mate :) Expensive fishing losing all that gear. I don't buy many shop-bought lures. The toy isle of the local pound shop is full of soft plastic toys that can me modified using a craft knife. I tried carbon landing net handles for a few years, and went through no end. Junk. Aluminium handles are infinity better imo. I've never broken one, they double as an aid when climbing banks, it protects my rods in transit, and makes an effective deterrent against aggressive wildlife.
I wish I had the time to try making my own lures, it would save me loads of cash. I'll have a look at the aluminium nets since I'm in the market for a new one. The wildlife deterrent sounds like an interesting story?
@@SlippyLimpets I'm not making my lures. Go into Poundland and look at the kids toys. you can get a bag of soft plastic lures being sold as toys for a quid. Tackle manufacturers are ripping us off. I caught a 7lb zander last year, on a squidgy, 3 inch, glow in the dark Buzz Lightyear. Wildlife? I've been charged by cows, trapped by swans, and had a feral child pull a knife on me. You never know what's going to happen when you grab your rods and head out. That's the joy of fishing.
Hiya Fella. Couple of silly questions for you. Probably stuff you've covered before but I'm a Newby when it comes to coastal fishing (Midlands canals are my bag). 1st up the infamous FG knot, I use it myself but any chance you can do a short vid on how you tie it, particularly when on the bank so to speak. Always good to know if there is a better way. 2nd question, the little rig bad/wallet thing that you see towards the start of the vid. What is it please 🙏?? Ps so lucky with that net!!!
Hi mate, sure if my way is best, but I use the bend/weight of the rod to help keep tension in the line. Do a quick search for FG knot by Briggsey, he's got the best way of tieing them. The little wallet thing is an Outdoor Research Back Country Organiser, it's really meant for camping and skiing but works well for keeping my gear organised. Hope this helps👍🎣
@Slippy Limpets ta muchley. Found the OR pack (a brand I'm familiar with) , just looks perfect for packets of soft plastics. The FG yeh I tie a loop on the end of the braid, put that on the reel handle and gently add tension via the rod so sounds the same. 👌 loving the vids, slowly making my way through your back catalogue.
Sick video as always mate! Can I ask what telescopic landing net you have?? It would also be perfect for me! I live in Cumbria, but do all my fishing from the rocks around the Lizard peninsula. Thank you in advance, and stay safe mate! Regards, Guy.
Thought the net was saved....thats a pain mate. rock fishing its hard on the gear. Some braw fish there though. You getting my emails Nathan? Replied a while back but no heard. Let me know. Tight lines lad 🎣
@@SlippyLimpets no worries lad ken how it goes, just making sure I wasn't talking to a spam folder 🤣 am oot the morn down elie chain walk, wish me luck lol been a while 🎣 mon the coalies lol
It's a bit of a gamble, sometimes he's well p**sed others you don't see him. Scottish Heritage, who own the road, say that they can't stop you driving up. But they point out that it's a car park for the disabled
Thanks for that mate much appreciated. Might just go to Eyemouth to save the hassle. It’s a huge slog from the car park if u can’t drive up to the lighthouse.
I cringe every time you lose a lure,it must be costing you a fortune.😛I fish over large rocks in N wales, but use a float.I use a stop knot to set the float depth just above the rocks. The extra weight from the float lead makes casting a longer distance a doddle.I never use less than 30lb braid because the hooklength is mono.
Hi mate I live in Scarborough but I was at my daughters for a few days who lives in Newcastle so I had a trip to north shields and went to Billy's tackle shop and I ended up buying a head lamp the Ledlenser H7R core and a few little bits He gave me a nice discount. We had a bit of a talk about you so I said I would give them a shout on your you tube hope you don't mind. That must be your lucky net it must cling to rocks as good as you

Nice video.🐟🐟🍻 We modified feeder rods 4.5m for this type of fish around rocks..gets em up.
Interesting idea! I'll give that a go. Thank you 🙌

I live in Oz I've given up using lure clips. Rapla knots gets way more hits. I'd use 30lb leader in that area.
I agree about the knot, the only thing is the weights I use can slice through leader so a lure clip is essential

Hope this helps and you get amongst them
Take a look at street London for the lure repair glue.. great video as always mate 🎣🎣
Thanks for the tip, I'll check him out.
As always an enjoyable watch Nathan 👍 cpl of nice Pollock for your efforts 🎣🎣
I fished eyemouth on Friday with bait and lures, nowt on the bait 🥴 and only coalies on the lures 🎣 still better than a blank
Eyemouth can be like that, looks really fishy and then it can be poor. Those coalies can be a pain at times but love catching them when there's nowt else around. Give St. Abbs a try next time, I've found it to be a bit better in the winter. Tight lines👍🎣
Have you thought of fishing a float with a small live coley? Might keep you just above the kelp.
I've never tried live baiting but could be worth a shot!
Hi nathan you ok mate, what a stunning spot to fish wow, just as i like it me myslf and i hahaha. Good luck for 2023 from GRIMSBY.
Alreet Carl, I like fishing with mates but there's a feel good factor going yo places like this on your tod. Tight lines and all the best👍🎣
Great as always good luck for the rest of the winter :)
Thanks mate, you too👍🎣
Cracking session mate excellent stuff💪👍 I knew there was something different that I couldn’t quite put my finger on, then realised it was the beard when you pointed it out☝️ All the Best🙋♂️
Haha, aye, it's a bit of a different look. Had a real shock when I'd finished shaving it off, seems my face has fallen foul to a middle-aged spread. Tight lines mate and keep those vids coming👍🎣
Never had an issue with the double uni knot mate. When I've been snagged it's always broke at the leader end.
I used to fish with the double uni but, I like fishing with a long leader and the DU isn't great for that, keeps catching on the eyes
@@SlippyLimpets That sounds fair to me if you use a long leader.
Is it the FG knot you use now?
you need a drop net mate ! nice mark .. i need to try winter lure fishing but cant brave the cold
I've tried them but didn't get on with it unless fishing on a verticle cliff/pier. Just stick a few extra layers on and you'll be fine 😉
@@SlippyLimpets aye they might snag up on the barnacles on the way down or up , never thought of that
Braid is like cheese wire so makes lifting your fish out easier grabbing onto the flouro/mono. Especially if your net f*cking breaks 🤣
mint vid as always and we shit wa selfs making that leap as were all old farts kicking 60yrs old ..but thanks to you we have had some brilliant days fishing ....keep the vids coming happy days
I still have a little twitch every time I make that step! Glad I can help out and tight lines!
Subbed, because you took your tag end home💪💪💪🐟🐟🐟🎣♥️♥️♥️🥰
Welcome to the channel! I've been saying 'take them home' for years, hopefully, it's sunk in to one or two
@@SlippyLimpets well done lad. I’m just about at the point now. after losing 10+ nets to weak
end blocks or poor designs, to just designing and machining a “supernet”, one which can’t break and that has a tether, so I can’t drop it.🤣🤣😭♥️♥️♥️🎣🎣🎣🐟
nice session slippy, thanks!
You're welcome Tommy, all the best and tight lines
Great to see you pulling the pollack in. Well done mate 👍🎣
Cheers mate, you don't seem to be doing to badly yourself! Keep the vids coming and tight lines👍🎣
Slip you need to look at making your own lures, you seem to know whats needed and when thanks love your stuff. Steve from chaple st leonards 👍
Now that's an idea, it might save me a bit of cash! Thanks Steve and tight lines👍🎣
Nice 🎉
@SlippyLimpets perfect man thank you for the advice much appreciated. Tight lines!
I had to do the same when I took the shaver to my face,- seems I've gained a few pounds and waddle - growing it straight back. Tight lines mate👍🎣
I got chased out there by the rangers last time mind they were filming right enough but was told not to drive in again fishing was good tho I hate the climb back up!
Yeah, technically it's for disabled access but they can't do anything about you driving up.
@@SlippyLimpets I did question that in my rant email to NTS as to why a disabled person would need to go to a steep cliff 😂
I would be inclined to hammer a climbing spike and safety rope into that scenario, perilous doesn't even come close.
It's safe enough. The rock is a bit too compact to take pitons safety, it tends to crack and each placement is useless.
Expensive session Nathan - lost lures and broken net 🤦♂️
Few cracking fish though.
Pollock are superb fighting fish. Pound for pound got to be right up there as one of the best 👌
It was, but at least I managed to save the net head. It was pollack that got me into lure fishing and I never tire of catching them. Tight lines!
Cheers,
Dave
Hi from Greece god video !!
Hello Paulo! Thanks for watching👍🎣
Watched this in my new Xmas Slippy t shirt. Good session there to be fair, those pollack had some scrap in them, could see them trying to dive.
Edge of my seat when your net nearly went in, gutted it snapped at the end. Was going to ask you what make the net was, but I won't bother now 🤣
Thanks again for another cracking video.
Nice! Which one dif you get?
I'd still recommend that net even though I snapped it, it was probably my fault. It normally is.
My pleasure and tight lines👍🎣
Species hunter T. Got the TC lures collab and a big fish hood on the way too. Wife is slobbing it in her Slippy jogging pants 🤣
Go on then, what net/handle was it?
Excellent video, thank you. What net were you using, please? Good of you for bringing your tag ends home, too
It's a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8. Great handle
Hi Nath . . You should do a few videos as Dave he got a few nice pollack ! It's days/weather/& fish like that keep ya smiling. Really enjoyed the vid . . Keep em coming Tight Lines 🎣🎣👍
Cheers Kris, Dave did pretty well, didn't he? I might keep him handy to fish when the going is tough. Tight lines!
Hope you found them!
Tight lines
You can take the beard of Nathan but you can't remove the calamity! Tight lines Larry. Cheers, Dave
Yes
Have you thought about getting an auto inflate life vest Nathan?
I have, but think it could get in the way of me climbing back out if I did ever fall in the drink, I get that it could save me if I was unconscious, but if I wasn't then I would have to get rescued or have to deflate the vest before climbing out. It's a question I get a fair bit but for some reason, people don't suggest a climbing rope or helmet for the approach.
You need to tie a loop on your net handle that you can wrap around your wrist.
Cracking idea, cheers!
@@carlharris2808 🤣🤣
@@carlharris2808 No, it's Durham Dave 32:10
Hi Daz, That's why I employed David, he's a way better angler than me.
I got David those lures from Billy's Tackle in North Shields and are available in 28, 49 and 60g. If his site is showing as out of stock then give him a call, he's rubbish at keeping his site up to date.
Cheers,
Nathan
@@SlippyLimpets Brilliant, thanks Nathan, I'll take a look.
David may be decent with a rod but I wouldn't trust him with a net.
All the best 👍
Nice vlog Nathan, and nice Pollock. I thought your net was a gonna when u dropped it.. then it was a gonna at the end 😭 dunno what happened 🤣🤣
Haha, how did you know about the sambucas?🤣
Unfortunately, the nets diagnosis is terminal, I'll keep the head and try and get a warranty replacement, but I suspect I'll be buying a replacement.

Yep, I've got used to the calamity over the years, and yeah the fish made up for it! Tight lines👍🎣
Was thinking the beard trim might have taken all your fishing powers away? How wrong I was, that was some top angling to get those puppies out in the winter.
That's all I was worried about when I reached for the shaver! Who knows though, I might have landed a cod if I'd kept the beard 🤔 Tight lines!!
Great winter session. Can you put a link for the net?
Yep, here you go. I got the 3.8m version

@@SlippyLimpets thanks
Do you think it was a fluke that it broke? I love how compact it is, but with such a long reach.
That's a long commute just to go fishing! Guessing you've already got the name of the net from Carl
Thought the net was saved....thats a pain mate. rock fishing its hard on the gear. Some braw fish there though. You getting my emails Nathan? Replied a while back but no heard. Let me know. Tight lines lad 🎣

Hi mate,
Did u manage to drive up to the lighthouse with no problems. I’d heard the farmer had closed the road. Was hoping to try this weekend

Beats me how that happened!
I cringe every time you lose a lure,it must be costing you a fortune.😛I fish over large rocks in N wales, but use a float.I use a stop knot to set the float depth just above the rocks. The extra weight from the float lead makes casting a longer distance a doddle.I never use less than 30lb braid because the hooklength is mono.
great video, where in the uk is this please? no need to be exact if it's a secret
