This is a stunning video! I remember watching Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer in in a similar setting fishing for Sea Trout. A day you’ll never forget!
@@SlippyLimpets Had a few over here Nath and think I've hooked and lost quite a lot but that just looks stunning there. Amazing camera work. Your production standards are first rate.
Nice place to do some fishing. Perfect weather. Not a place to go on a foggy day for sure. Getting caught on an "island" by a rising tide can be quite dangerous. When the tide is rising near us here in Nova Scotia, it comes up about a foot every 10 minutes. On a flat area it covers over at a brisk walking pace so you really have to know where you're going to keep ahead of it.
It’s the night for leaping fish, the Lockers in Canada and your good self in Scotland, we’re being properly spoilt with some great videos, thanks guys. 👍
Just subbed, love the two vids I`ve seen, so pleased I've something new to binge watch. I`m in Scotland and predominantly fly fish for wild trout, although enjoy catching sea fish on lures/bait too. Most memorable time ever, was fly fishing a white shell sand beach on west coast of Harris at 5am, and landing 16 sea trout. Almost all Sea trout, circa 90 + % are female Brown trout that migrate to sea, with the remainder males. That's why you will find them pretty much all around UK coast near fresh water inlets where Brown trout live. From what I understand its believed to be a survival of the species thing, as if a small % of fish are at sea and there is a pollution event in the home water, the genetics will survive and eventually re-establish the population. Almost all large sea trout are female. Appreciate the effort you put in to your production, the quality of filming and explanation of tackle and techniques, although I`m now going to have to shell out on a new lure rod 😆😆😅 I`m off to watch and learn more about Lure fishing now. All the best from Scotland, Slainte 🍻🍻

Tricky dicky fishing round estuaries, gotta keep your wits about you. Absolutely beautiful place and that sea trout was a very fine specimen. I'm in Cornwall, off to wet a few lures.
You were very fortunate with the weather, and that first fish was a stunner 👍 Try a bombarda float with a long leader and a sea trout lure - it can help minimise the effects of weed (I tie mine with a small spur of 6lb line to create a 'weedless' hook). With a bit of practice you can easily control the depth the fly/lure works at, even with a slow retrieve. Another great video - looking forward to the next adventure 👍
Thanks for the info Taran, I'll defo be giving a bombarda a shot the next time I head out hunting troot. Thanks for the comment and apologies for the late reply. Tight lines👍🎣

No worries, it's a Sea to Summit Hydraulic 30. Not cheap but totally bombproof
Nice video. South Uist is a fisherman’s dream. What’s the blue drysack you’re using?
That's a pretty fair assessment of Uist. The pack is a Hydraulic 30 by a company called Sea to Summit. Hooe this helps
Tricky dicky fishing round estuaries, gotta keep your wits about you.
Absolutely beautiful place and that sea trout was a very fine specimen.
I'm in Cornwall, off to wet a few lures.
Hope you're finding some fish down there, LV. Thanks as always and tight lines👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets Just a cpl of mackerel so far but no complaints - flippin beautifol here.
Great video Nate and four "Get in"s
I can't wait to have a mint session and see how many 'get in's' I can squeeze into one vid. Thanks as always John
Played that first one too long doubt he will have survived .. they don’t recover well especially if it’s on the warm side.
Where about cost are u fishing in Scotland
South Uist
You were very fortunate with the weather, and that first fish was a stunner 👍
Try a bombarda float with a long leader and a sea trout lure - it can help minimise the effects of weed (I tie mine with a small spur of 6lb line to create a 'weedless' hook).
I think in that situation having a packraft would be ideal so you don't get stranded or wet....
Good idea!

Nothin comes close to sea trouting,,, at night or when there's a good bit of water coming down the river.. get plenty off Kingston beach ,spey ,using sand eels.. but makes a mess of um so stopped it, besides I'm not a fan of cutlery chukin... at the min the river lune is fishing it head off for um... specialist's job sea trouting.. beats salmon hands down.
I'm yet to catch a salmon so will take your word for it, but I'm gagging to get a sea trout on my fly rod.
@@SlippyLimpets very complicated,,especially at night.much less so during the day time..if you need any info or advice I can short circuit the job a bit.. nothin comes close than hitting a 7,8,9 ect pound sea trout at night.. love me Coddin but sea trout, head and shoulders.
