Cool video. I used to fish that area when I was younger (1980-90s) and I never caught wrasse. Nobody did as I remember. I always thought of it as a southern water fish.
Another decent place in that area used to be in at Newark Castle. They closed the pier, but if you go to the East of it, there used to be a concrete wall with blue railings and alot of people used to fish there. Needs to be close to high tide though. Used to be lots of flounder, coalies and pollack there.
Nice video man, I am from the area and fish this spot now and again. Nice to see the cuckoo wrasse coming out of the spot. I had a small female further up river earlier this year
@@ClydeLerfer thanks, I love catching all kinds of wrasse. That was my first cuckoo for a while, very welcome wee surprise to round off a great day. Cheers
Looks like a fun session, I tend to find that the fishing is good (with tons of mackeral) all the way through October but really dies down through November in the Firth of Clyde
@@LibertasScotland thanks, that’s good to know, I’ve not really done a lot of fishing on the Clyde. Mostly on the east coast before but I’m trying a lot more new spots since I’ve started filming my trips. Cheers
Btw we both live in Clydebank and the mark is under two hours away. Going by ur videos u can’t stay too far from where we live. It’s a guaranteed great video trip. If u would like to see some of the fish caught at the mark let me know how to send pics/ vids to you 👍
Love watching ur videos. I wouldn’t mind inviting u on a fishing trip with myself and my pal. We have a mark that produces easy 50 great fish between the two of us every time we go. We always take the GoPro and take videos on our phones but bottle it when it comes to actually posting a video. It’s a mark that will give tons of wrasse and pollock. We have both had our bbs at this mark. If ur interested in coming along with us and making a video from it then get back in touch. We have never went to this mark and not caught 40/50 fish minimum. That’s also excluding mackerel. Got pics of some massive fish at it. Not sure how to show u in comments

Can't you get nearer the power station. About half way between you and the jetty is the old hot water outlet. That used to be best bit. No hot water now but might still be better seabed.
@@jaculton2641 I’ll do a bit more exploring next time, might leave the pot and the dog home so I can move about a bit more. Thought about walking along there a bit but didn’t know if there would be more fences or obstacles for the doggo. Defo will give a few more spots a try there at some point. Cheers
Watched another couple of your videos. Don't leave the dog, folk like it. One of the videos you're far enough. Personally I wouldn't get involved with the jetty. My old man was the last boss there. You'll not improve on the red rocks. Always been like that. There used to be loads of mullet. Early summer. Saw a guy on the bbc recently catching them on a fly, but a wee bit more to it. But you'd need to be local mullet were unpredictable. Folk go on about lack of fish etc. your doing better for species than in the 80s. In the 60s my folks catching double figure cod. See you camp. I lived at otter ferry. North of there there are rocks where its straight down. Try your pot there and it's decent fishing. Camp it's quiet and if you're respectful which you seem, nobody will bother you. It's beautiful there anyway if you don't catch anything. Nice sping days no midge.
Always love a n57 upload! Do you use different sizes or special kinds of rods for different methods of fishing or do you just decide on the day if you’re going to bait or put a lure on it?
I’ve got a couple of rods that I use for both bait and lure fishing, as well as a couple of rods that are specifically for each method. Each rod has a weight limit for casting, so as long as you don’t go over the limit you can really use most rods however you like. Obviously beach casters or other very heavy rods aren’t suitable for lures as you would be knackered after the first few casts. My favourite rod is the second one shown in this video, it’s actually sold as a mackerel feathering rod but I’ve caught big pollock and pike on lures with it and regularly use it for bait fishing. It’s a really great low cost rod that you can use almost anywhere. Cheers
