Agreed!! I travel solo primarily (occasionally siblings or parents will join) and it’s nice to get the perspective of a guy who gets the lifestyle while traveling.

We stayed there 4 years ago. It was fantastic. We had a swim up room and it was luxurious. The food was delicious and the staff fantastic. I can't wait to get back.
I will be staying here in July of next year and I can’t wait I am so excited! 🤗 I have been to the Dominican Republic two times both of them on a carnival cruise. The first time I went on the cruise by myself it was my first time cruising and the second year I took my mom and my sister for Christmas and the ship docked in Puerta Plata both times.
Now, my best friend from childhood is getting married, and since his fiancé is from the Dominican Republic, they have decided to do a destination wedding. I just got the wedding E-vite and I’m excited and can’t wait to go! thank you for this amazing review. I can already tell that this place is going to be amazing when I get there 🤗🙌

Love this review. This is the most spot on review of a hotel I think I have seen in a long time. I spent 2 weeks here in October 2021, (2 weeks was marginally more expensive than 1 week), and came with 2 other 40+ year olds. We came for a relaxed, quiet, upscale experience, and Majestic Mirage provided that. I couldn't agree more that the hotel needs a large central pool and the beach for being the "top of the Majestic chain" was not great in comparison to the Elegance or Colonial. If this resort had a larger pool space at the beach like Colonial had/has, and the beach was wider, it would be the perfect resort, for me. But, I agree with the review. Come here if you want an upscale experience where details matter but you are not overly concerned with socializing or spending your day on the beach.

Currently staying at the Mirage for 12 days. There is not one speck of seaweed . This is our fourth stay at this resort and it has never been a problem. It's unfortunate and unusual that it was so bad during your stay James.
at the resort are the restaurant options an upcharge or included in the all inclusive ? and if so how much are they ?

Arriving tomorrow for our 5th time.....The swim up rooms are better in my opinion...every person I know who had the rooftop room by the third day had issues with it (stairs are dangerous when wet or navigating when drinking, rain makes the rooftop useless, outdoor shower is iffy) we had the swim up room and it was so awesome...separate private bedroom, huge patio with chairs, sofa bali bed and 2 lounge chairs....private, difficult to peek next door (not that I tried).....ground floor give you faster access to pools, restaurants and beach....one note: the closet by the front door is not used for storage of your personal effects!....that is used for your dirty dishes, cups and small garbage. they come by frequently to clean them out. Also, it is a point of contactless delivery for food as they open the closet from the outside, put your food in, and you access it from inside the room....just thought I'd point it out also, the main pool at Elegance is bigger and more of what you look for. I was surprised the beach looked the way it did...they have a crew 3x a day combing the sand,....the Colonial and Elegance beaches are larger and better kept in my opinion. I think they're still trying to re staff the place as they got rid of 30% of their workforce in the past two years.
Some of the best steaks I’ve ever had were in that steakhouse. Not kidding! I was astonished after all the other bad steaks I’ve had in the Caribbean and Mexico. I found the pool perfect. It was more intimate and spread out. I hate a square open pool where everyone is just staring at each other. The beach was also fantastic. Not too busy and no people bugging you to buy things. I’m from florida, so I know my beaches!

great video again..great honest review......we are headed there this saturday jan 29th....i have watched soooo many youtube videos doin sooo much research on punta cana resort vactions...i picked this one back in june to book for our 1st time ever beach vacation stay in january....
sounds like i picked the right one for a quiet relaxing couple vacation after 2 yrs of stressfull covid BS.....and well deserved winter getaway from snowy ontario canada......

We stayed in a Oceanveiw for 2 weeks yes 2 weeks lol but I can honestly say I wasn't bored, the nightclub was banging and the amenities and food was amazing not to mention our butler who was a gem.

We have stayed at both the Majestic Mirage and Elegance, we prefer Elegance, because of the vibe (less romantic, more enthusiastic). The third property is the Colonial, which we have not stayed but have visited, is family oriented, and I feel, the most rambunctious. Fortunately, for us, we have not experienced any seaweed issues, as you did, and really like the beach and calmness of the ocean. The pools are different, but clean and aesthetically pleasing. We, like you, got a terrace at the FIVES, in Playa Del Carmen, and found it kinda useless. We will be going back to the Majestic Elegance in April, and can't wait.

You forgot the nightclub located in between elegance and colonial. We stayed in a 1 bedroom corner suite that included double terrace and just outside the swimup bar. It was a great private vibe for our crew.

Very much agree with this review. I had the same room and the rooftop was an afterthought. Water pressure is so low it took many hours to fill the hot tub, which was not hot. Food was great and the service was excellent. Although I loved the beach the seaweed was so dense in the water we could not stay in. Only one of the days we were there we could swim. I loved the pool but I was there for total quiet and relaxation. Loved this property and wish I had seen this before we went!
We're planning a trip in April and you are the best at reviewing resorts!. My husband is vegan so a great beach is top of his list. I'm all about food so that's the top of my list. Let's hope you will find this gem in Punta Cana.

@@kinjalsheth6407 Hi Kinjal, we were not able to find any resorts in Punta Cana that are vegan friendly. In our experience, the boutique style resorts will accommodate vegan meals if you discuss your meal restriction at check in or with resort manager.

Hey bro I was just there in November!!! I want to go back so bad!!! But I get the pool situation..but the main bar at night in the main lobby the bartender named Carlos ! He makes some good drinks
We stayed here 06/04-06/11. We found the food for the most part to be ok. We found the steaks to not have much flavor and the French restaurant really only had 1 French dish. The grounds are awesome and our butler did a great job. The main issue we had was a musky smell in our room. The humidity was so high I don't think they could do anything about. They gave us a dehumidifier and it helped a little. Overall we liked the place but next time we will probably try Majestic Elegance

We’ve stayed at Majestic Colonial several times, before this was built. Love it, lots of fun but not luxury- enjoy.

I experienced the same thing with seaweed at Ambar Punta Cana four years ago...they usually hire crews to keep it tidy!

This resort is really nice you guys. We have stayed here about 4 times already. The staff here is amazing. They make you feel welcome unlike Hyatt Zilara cap Cana. They have colorism there. But I highly recommend this majestic mirage.

I stayed here for a week in April 2022 with my boyfriend and it was such an amazing experience. Everyone is sooo friendly and makes conversation with you all the time! We really enjoyed our stay!! Will definitely be back :)
Food should never be an afterthought lol. It did look like a massive castle though and very elegant at that.

just got back from a 5 day stay at MM. Beach had no seaweed but was a bit over crowded. we did like the long lazy river type pools. Agree 90% of patrons are couples, a few families. Favorite restaurant was the steak house, we tried all but the French (we had reservations at 9pm, but didn't want to miss the theater show). The nightly shows at 9:30 in the theater were terrific. Really liked the seaside buffet and Cafe Espanol. Bed was super comfy. There were a few quirks and things we didn't like but I guess no property is PERFECT. Would definitely go back.

Have you reviewed the hyatt cap ziva/zilara... ? I'm booked to go at the end of March. I heard the quality of the food at their restaurants is what stands out from the rest of high end's in punta cana, being that it's difficult to find good gastronomy in PC.

I haven't, but many people say the hotel experience is similar to punta cana. It's the second most popular Caribbean island for travel/tourism/vacation. DR is #1 as you know.
@@Coolist U definitely need to do Jamaica we have been 3 times and are currently trying to decide dates to go to the DR. Jamaica offers a lot of choice in hotels and gives different experiences with each one The people you meet and interact with (including staff) help make the holiday even better. Will say Jamaica offers a range of activities outside of the hotel too for additional content if you do end up going.

Ok. 4 of us 30 year old lifelong guy friends are taking a trip to the DR this summer. We have a reservation at Majestic Mirage but Costcotravel makes it easy to cancel and pivot. Could you rank the Punta Cana resorts you've visited with 4 guy best friends in mind? Also, were any of them in an area that made off-site excursions easier? Thank you for the great reviews!

Excellent, once again! Looked like this was the best for cuisine? Each dinner seemed to get better. The beach issue is disappointing given these resorts are generally on top of this. You did a great job of selecting a good cross section of the different types of resorts. Too bad you missed Rui party events, it's a central, off property, party pool on steroids and there is nothing like it. Next time consider Breathless and Excellence if you do another tour.
Of the hotels I stayed at on this trip, mirage was the clear standout on dining. Breathless and Excellence will happen, and happen Sooner than later. Let's consider This first trip a preamble.

Seaweed is from the reefs. Most resorts clear it up tho.
Seaweed is a crapshoot. Hotels can't control that. It all has to do with the season and meteorological conditions

I went there 2021, the hospitality wasn't great and we had so many problems with our room. I figured it was because the island hadn't fully recovered from covid, but it was still ridiculous for a luxury resort

It's markedly cheaper to go solo, not more expensive. One less person per room consuming food and drinks... on your favorite travel website, Just plug in one person per room instead of the standard two and you'll see what the solo rate is.
Dominican Night at this resort, were the vendors pushy and relentless? Last trip i had to dominican at another 5 star resort that shit ruined my entire trip. My wife wants to try this resort and I just want to know what I'm in for, thanks!

I gave Riu Republica a better score, mainly because of its value and energy. But TripAdvisor had majestic mirage ranked as #1.
Did you stay at the mirage club?
Going in April with our two 18 yr olds to Mirage Club level. Initially booked the excellence but changed to Mirage. Wanted the larger suite (1000sqft).
More concerned with the mention that it's too quiet, for our 18 yr olds I want more fun and activities. Can we use the other majestic properties?
The Majestic brand is captured very well in their name. You should consider Breathless and Hard Rock if you want a balance between good food and lively pool, beach and nightlife. They also have quiet areas. If food is a non issue go with Republica. Food is amongst the worst anywhere but it's a party
For the kids sake, I would switch to elegance. They are going to get bored at mirage. Yes, you can access elegance from mirage, but it's inconvenient to continually or consistently do so.
When you go to these places , don't you go off the resort? Maybe go exploring ruins or the towns.?

Property looks nice but I can't see me being wooed away from Excellence. We are from the UK, so do 14 nights and there are not enough restaurant choices, nor I think is there a single adult only restaurant unless I am mistaken? Might consider it for a split trip as the drink and food look very good. Thanks for sharing.
Correct, mirage doesn't have an adult only restaurant - just an exclusive adult only tower which includes a club and a pool. Because mirage was so romantic and expensive, kids weren't that prevalent; I only saw a handful during my entire stay.

(I just realize I can’t add a pic, well it’s big wife with bath tub inside and out on a huge deck with a view on court and pool) amazing ❤And I’ve got a bracelet to try all the majestics so I’ll be doing tomorrow 😊 MJ (travel agent Qc Canada) cheers and love the beach club with the view and you can grab a glass of champagne to your room while you get ready love this and the service I find is amazing❤️
