Love this guy. We choose Majestic Elegance because of him. Just got back from Elegance and what an amazing hotel. Everything he said is spot on. It’s got a vibe and it’s such a beautiful resort. A mix of couples, families and groups. The pools, lobby, restaurants, entertainment and night club were all fun. A little dated in places but you soon get over that. So fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.

Literally got back from Majestic Elegance (Club) yesterday and James nailed it. We stayed at "The Level at Melia Punta Cana" in December and Majestic was superior across the board. Also survived TWO weeks at Rui Republica in Dec 2020. I am not a fan of it BUT if you want to party and you are willing to sacrifice food for a cheaper party resort - go for it! Loud is the best word to describe, it is loud in certain pool areas and loud in the dinning rooms - the food and wine is not good and the 24 hour Sports Bar food is borderline toxic. I dont even recall them having room service at Republic. Jerk Chicken at the beach is the one saving grace.

Been to so many resorts too.... I rarely go to a resort twice but Riu Republica is one that I have had the most fun at, have been to twice and hope to get back soon. I was last there 2.5 years ago and I'm 50.... great time, I think the age range varies a little more but yes on the younger side. Food was ok... on the lower end. The staff is amazing, I can't wait until they have their parties back.
This is was a great no bs review ! I been to punta cana several times and never been to the excellence or republica . As a single gal nice to see a review focus on the social aspect .
I'm stuck between Riu and Hard Rock....ughhh but Riu might be it as it is more affordable. My friend is at Hard Rock Now she has won 17k usd at the Casino.

This is the best travel channel going. Such a great job with the reviews. Did 2 weeks at Republica. You do it for the party atmosphere and survive on the jerk chicken BBQ on the beach but in terms of value really hard to argue with your choices.
@@andywildman9401 I am hesitant to comment given I have NOT stayed at this property. I would really be interested in hearing your experiences - especially in relative terms to your other resort experiences. Here is what I can say, going with an open mind - you cant loose. Caribe is in the established (older) Bavaro area which means it should have an exquisite beach front but the resort could be dated. It is close to an erosion area (near Ocean Blue & Sand resort) and wont be a massive beach like Hard Rock and resorts in the Uvero Alto region but still should be very nice. I have walked in the vicinity a lot and it gets busy on the beach and in the water, lots of activity. Food quality and night life - I have no idea. I really like Jame's channel because he is focused on the top resorts and has covered a lot, having stayed at several, I find he really does "nail it" in his videos and commentary. I tend to lean towards adult resorts (rather than family) My favorite remains Majestic Elegance but if party scene is the ideal/priority you should go to the RIU's. I liked Breathless as well as Melia Punt Cana but I would only stay at "The Level" in the Melia otherwise you will be disappointed. Bahia complex is a generally good mix of properties all-in-one area, the downside is that it is really big and very much family friendly despite having adult only sections. Jame's has opened my eyes to Excellence resorts - so maybe in the future; however, right now I am booked to return back at Majestic this winter AND I went there based on his initial rounds of reviews.
Been to the riu just before the pandemic on february 2020 and I have to admit that the pink party at the riu bamboo ( included as well with the round trip in school bus) was a real highlight… i was 38 at the time and it was a tremendous throwback in time ! i was 18 again 🤟🏻 From Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦
Its not a riu bambu per say. Its a venue available to all Riu guests obviously riu bambu can take an advantage of being just a cross the road, but agree best part of that chain.

Watched this we went to Royalton Bravo. Great choice if your a upper level Marriot bonvoy member...they upgraded us to swim out room diamond club ...Incredible! Only complaint food was mediocre and some staff was rude as the reviews confirmed 👌! Lotta restaurants. Sparkling clear bch water. Overall Royalton Bravo was very classy. I would suggest definitely.
Hey man! Just booked Secrets Royal Beach for 11 days! Havent gone preffered club as it was an extra £1150 per person. Hoping it doesnt effect the holiday too much. Very excited though!
@@PhillyFinesse it was a good time. You really have to stay here planning on what you’re looking for. I’ve stayed in the DR multiple times and each place can deliver a different experience. This is definitely a party resort so if you’re looking to go with a group of people or even just a significant other to drink and party around a younger demographic like 20-30 year olds then this is the spot. Other resorts are definitely nicer, and offer better food options, but the nightlife will be calmer and the people will be older.
@@PhillyFinesse I’ve done the party boats a few times they’re very fun. Unlimited drinks. You will sail to a spot and then you get off and snorkel, and then you get back on and you sail to a natural pool and there’s a bunch of other boats anchored and it’s like a party in waist high beautiful waters and then you sail back. My friends have done the ATV ones as well and loved it

Our group stayed at majestic and had a absolutely great time! Totally recommend going there! Treat u like family beautiful beach, 1 day of seaweed and wasn’t really bad at all compared to what we’ve experienced in Mexico.
Curious that you don't mention any of the Excellence chain? Excellence Punta Cana, Excellence El carmen, and Finest Punta Cana. I've stayed at many of these and their properties outside of DR. You may want to check them out.
James great job! If cost is moderately close all within $100 to $200 total where are you going? Hard to beat Republica value at that price point but what if they were all close?
Always interesting to hear hotel rankings. You made lots of good points but it is clear that you want more of a party type AI experience. For us we want the best beach/lounge chairs with a great beach bar and beach restaurant...of course at a great price Ha Ha, but you generally do get what you pay for.
Yes, it's all based on opinion and what you're looking for. We stayed at Majestic two years ago with a family group of 22 ppl and it was fantastic. Night club opened late. Fried chicken at 2am after the night club was the best we've ever had. No sea weed on the beach. Might be just a seasonal thing.

We were bored & in bed by 930pm every night @ Mirage, Except for our last night when we met the best group of ppl & had a great time! Wish we would've met them on the 1st night. The beach at both Elegance & Mirage have been terrible no matter what time of yr I've stayed. It wasn't like that the 1st time, 5-6 yrs ago. We are now booked for Secrets Cap Cana in 6 wks. I cannot wait! The beaches look awesome there & I'm excited for a change.
Thanks for some great advice. We have just arrived back from the Rui Republica on the 2nd September 2022. Had a great time. All you said was very helpful. Staff, food, live entertainment and Pacha night club fantastic & oh not forgetting the themed parties eg: Neon. We tipped as you said and was much appreciated. Great review Thanks. Just got back from Jamaica, stayed in 3 different cities - do yourself a favor and only got to Negril, seven mile beach, the rest is just not worth it.
Have been looking a lot for a hotel in Punta Cana for late April this year for me and my wife. This video helped me a lot. I took yoyr advice and booked Riu Republica for amazing price. I went to Riu republica last October with my girlfriend and some friends. This was the best vacation I’ve been on so far in my life. The pool bar was always the liveliest and everyday was a joy. Even in the late hours the snack bar was always full of energy. I’d go nowhere else in Punta Cana. 15/10 recommended
@@Jiggy609 The decor is very old and needs to be upgraded. You shouldn't be in the room that much anyway. This is strictly a party resort. If you can't get laid there something is wrong. It's practically handed to you. The Jungle Party and Pool Party (FOAM) are A+++++. WOMEN EVERYWHERE.
Just got back from RIU Republica last night and agree with everything in this video! Beach is immaculate, pools are a blast, and it truly was an international experience. $20 at check-in can go a long ways to getting a room by a particular pool and the staff are very responsive to tips. The rooms leave something to be desired, but like James mentions, you really only spend time in your room if you're sleeping or recovering from a hangover 😅. Can't wait to go back!
All of your videos on D.R. are great and pretty much spot on. May I suggest reviewing all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica. In my opinion they blow D.R. away when it comes to service and natural beauty like their beaches. Every one I've ever spoken to who has visited both islands multiple times agree.
Another tip is not only stay in Punta Cana but also explore other areas las Las terrenas in Samana it is in the north east of the island and provide a variety of beaches from big waves to enjoy surfing to other ones that are like a natural pool.

@@flobocaneala7537 it was good! If you are looking for a sunny vacation I would recommend it. Would not really recommend any of the day trips personally as they are pricey and not that good. Food is different, some restaurants are better then others. We met some folks from other places and had a blast.

I have loved all of these Punt Cana videoes. I wish I could book James for a personal consultation! 😆 I have learned that my stress level for FOMO is pretty high. My wife and I do not get to travel much. She is from Canada and I am from Maine where we live now, so most of our travel budget has gone to visiting her family. The last time the two of us have been away together for more than two nights in a row was our honeymoon...in 2003! To say it is long overdue is an understatement. Next year is a big year for us. It will be our 20th anniversary, my wife turns 50 (she is a cougar as I am 2 years younger), and our oldest son graduates high school. We are looking to go to the DR in February or March for 6 nights, just the two of us. Because we never get this opportunity, I want it to be perfect. I am trying to find a resort that checks off the most boxes and is well rounded. It doesn't necessarily need to be the best in any one category...rather that they can be above average in most categories. Maybe some of your followers can help us decide where to go. I think our days of hard partying are over, so Riu Republica may not be the best fit. I like the idea of Secrets, but worry it might not offer quite enough for us...we don't want to just gaze adoringly in each others eyes the whole time, we would like to mix in a little fun as well. We also like to people watch. So I kind of think Hard Rock is the safe play for us, as that seems to have the most options. We want decent food but don't need ultra fancy. Good drinks but we are not heavy drinkers, so all we would care about is a nice margarita, pina colada, sangria, and bonus if they do a decent mudslide. Nice beach mostly for lounging and view (needs turquoise water), good pools (bonus with a lazy river), and offers excursions for swimming with dolphins and ziplining (obviously extra most places). The other resort that has peaked our interest not covered by James is Margaritaville Island Reserve in Cap Cana. The resort and rooms look absolutely gorgeous. Plus we used to go to Jimmy Buffett shows in our younger days, so I think the atmosphere would be right up our alley. But it just opened in November, and so far it sounds like the food there is hit or miss as they work out the kinks. The beach looks unimpressive as well...borderline disappointing. I am really bummed about that. Maybe James can check this one out on his next trip. 🤞 Sorry for the long post. Just hoping some of you more experienced DR travelers can help us find the perfect resort for us next year, as who knows if/when we will ever get the chance to go back. Thanks for your help!

I agree 💯percent about Bahia Principe!!!! I was totally underwhelmed. My original reservation at Royalton CHIC had to be canceled because the property hadn’t reopened yet. I was bummed bcuz it was my birthday weekend😫 The food was 3 thumbs down

SPOT ON! I have been to Majestic Mirage, Elegance, Riu Republica and Royalton, and I would agree with you on all fronts. I constantly try inform friends of the Riu Republica, even if you want a good mix of crazy, cool or chill, this is the one, there are the, "quiet pools", which you can go sequester yourself into as well. I loved the "boujie" factor of MMirage, but the Elegance has it beat for total value. Great video!!!

The beaches in Punta Cana can get really strong waves with rocky areas in the ocean so the resort pool is really important.

Thanks for some great advice. We have just arrived back from the Rui Republica on the 2nd September 2022. Had a great time. All you said was very helpful. Staff, food, live entertainment and Pacha night club fantastic & oh not forgetting the themed parties eg: Neon. We tipped as you said and was much appreciated. Great review Thanks.

Just got back from Jamaica, stayed in 3 different cities - do yourself a favor and only got to Negril, seven mile beach, the rest is just not worth it.
Have been looking a lot for a hotel in Punta Cana for late April this year for me and my wife. This video helped me a lot. I took yoyr advice and booked Riu Republica for amazing price. Almost half the price of the hotels I had been looking at. Looking forward for my first time in Punta Cana. Greetings from Iceland 🇮🇸

I went to Riu republica last October with my girlfriend and some friends. This was the best vacation I’ve been on so far in my life. The pool bar was always the liveliest and everyday was a joy. Even in the late hours the snack bar was always full of energy. I’d go nowhere else in Punta Cana. 15/10 recommended

Riu Republica is a good resort the less you stay in the room. The rooms are terrible.

@@Jiggy609 The decor is very old and needs to be upgraded. You shouldn't be in the room that much anyway. This is strictly a party resort. If you can't get laid there something is wrong. It's practically handed to you. The Jungle Party and Pool Party (FOAM) are A+++++. WOMEN EVERYWHERE.

Just got back from RIU Republica last night and agree with everything in this video! Beach is immaculate, pools are a blast, and it truly was an international experience. $20 at check-in can go a long ways to getting a room by a particular pool and the staff are very responsive to tips. The rooms leave something to be desired, but like James mentions, you really only spend time in your room if you're sleeping or recovering from a hangover 😅. Can't wait to go back!

All of your videos on D.R. are great and pretty much spot on. May I suggest reviewing all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica. In my opinion they blow D.R. away when it comes to service and natural beauty like their beaches. Every one I've ever spoken to who has visited both islands multiple times agree.
We stayed in Negril, Jamaica last year and will be in DR next month. I can't wait to compare the two myself! I would love to watch James do it!

Another tip is not only stay in Punta Cana but also explore other areas las Las terrenas in Samana it is in the north east of the island and provide a variety of beaches from big waves to enjoy surfing to other ones that are like a natural pool.

@@flobocaneala7537 it was good! If you are looking for a sunny vacation I would recommend it. Would not really recommend any of the day trips personally as they are pricey and not that good. Food is different, some restaurants are better then others. We met some folks from other places and had a blast.

I have learned that my stress level for FOMO is pretty high. My wife and I do not get to travel much. She is from Canada and I am from Maine where we live now, so most of our travel budget has gone to visiting her family. The last time the two of us have been away together for more than two nights in a row was our honeymoon...in 2003! To say it is long overdue is an understatement.
Next year is a big year for us. It will be our 20th anniversary, my wife turns 50 (she is a cougar as I am 2 years younger), and our oldest son graduates high school. We are looking to go to the DR in February or March for 6 nights, just the two of us. Because we never get this opportunity, I want it to be perfect. I am trying to find a resort that checks off the most boxes and is well rounded. It doesn't necessarily need to be the best in any one category...rather that they can be above average in most categories. Maybe some of your followers can help us decide where to go.
I think our days of hard partying are over, so Riu Republica may not be the best fit. I like the idea of Secrets, but worry it might not offer quite enough for us...we don't want to just gaze adoringly in each others eyes the whole time, we would like to mix in a little fun as well. We also like to people watch. So I kind of think Hard Rock is the safe play for us, as that seems to have the most options. We want decent food but don't need ultra fancy. Good drinks but we are not heavy drinkers, so all we would care about is a nice margarita, pina colada, sangria, and bonus if they do a decent mudslide. Nice beach mostly for lounging and view (needs turquoise water), good pools (bonus with a lazy river), and offers excursions for swimming with dolphins and ziplining (obviously extra most places).
The other resort that has peaked our interest not covered by James is Margaritaville Island Reserve in Cap Cana. The resort and rooms look absolutely gorgeous. Plus we used to go to Jimmy Buffett shows in our younger days, so I think the atmosphere would be right up our alley. But it just opened in November, and so far it sounds like the food there is hit or miss as they work out the kinks. The beach looks unimpressive as well...borderline disappointing. I am really bummed about that. Maybe James can check this one out on his next trip. 🤞
Sorry for the long post. Just hoping some of you more experienced DR travelers can help us find the perfect resort for us next year, as who knows if/when we will ever get the chance to go back. Thanks for your help!

I agree 💯percent about Bahia Principe!!!! I was totally underwhelmed. My original reservation at Royalton CHIC had to be canceled because the property hadn’t reopened yet. I was bummed bcuz it was my birthday weekend😫 The food was 3 thumbs down

SPOT ON! I have been to Majestic Mirage, Elegance, Riu Republica and Royalton, and I would agree with you on all fronts. I constantly try inform friends of the Riu Republica, even if you want a good mix of crazy, cool or chill, this is the one, there are the, "quiet pools", which you can go sequester yourself into as well. I loved the "boujie" factor of MMirage, but the Elegance has it beat for total value. Great video!!!
