A 700 USD iPhone 11 costs 1200 AUD and the 11 pro costs 1750 AUD. $999 is mid range here.

I really abhor the naked profiteering from Samsung on the S20 and S20 note lines. This one seems a much better value. The 865 and 5G modem pricing from Qualcomm are a key factor in the recent generation's price jump, but the pricing of the S20 FE demonstrates that with delta cost analysis, the real "price" using past profit margins for an S20 ultra should have been around 999 or 1099, not 1399 and still maintaining a healthy 1/3 or better gross margin.

Correction, it is more of a flagship than a mid range phone . 5g with 120hz screen oled panel with a 4500 mah battery and best of all the same snapdragon variant as the one in the s20 line up. I mean to put it simple, if this is a mid range phone so is the base iphone 11 lol

I luv my ☁️ red FE. It has everything I need in a phone. The 865, 120hz, very good cameras & 🔋! Even at full retail kind of a no-brainer!

I think we need to redefine budget, midrange, and flagship. We can't define by price anymore. This phone is midrange price but flagship performance.

Good quick review. I would have liked to have seen more comparisons to other phones. For example, iphone 11. And even some speculative comparisons to its upcoming competitors like the Pixel 5, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. Maybe some discussion of the market gap that exists in the Western World.
i wouldn't consider this midrange, something like the oneplus nord is midrange, this is several steps above that

I found that the s20 FE to be a great purchase. I just recently got mine and everything you mention in your video we're pretty much spot on. Great food analogy by the way. It's not the best of the best but it really doesn't have to be it's a great phone with top of the line chipset wrapped in a really nice package at an affordable price.

What exactly makes this midrange, the fact that it has a plastic back? Also the battery is not bigger than the S20 Ultra, it is the same size as the Galaxy S20+ at 4500mah; the Ultra has a 5000mah battery.

90hz is better than 120hz for battery life
the 765G performs similiar to the 865, the downside of the 865 is that it will drain your battery quicker.

Better video stabilization and dynamic range
better software
6" display is better than 6.5" for a phone.
metallic build is better.
Robust fingerprint scanner, Samsung fingerprint is slower and buggy.

We all prefer s20 camera bump and SD 865 is way better than 765G.

It's definitely a nice phone and the price is attractive if buying the phone outright. Here in Canada, carriers are offering the S20+ on a 2 year commitment at a price relative to the S20FE (on contract). The S20+ is a better price in this case for it's 12GB RAM.
I would have loved to see a smaller phone like the s10e. Maybe the S20e FE

For me my ☁️ red FE is very delicious 😋 😜. The 865processer is the topping on my pizza 🍕 😋 pie, yikes. The 120hz display even at 1080p is the meatball to my spaghetti? It's so good there will be no left overs!
I want this phone, but the cameras are a major turn off. Samsung cameras look so pastel-y and oil painting like. Skin smoothing on this thing is insane looking too.
Hmm, finally a new Galaxy that might be a replacement for my S7 for about what I paid for the S7. Checks my boxes, flat screen, micro SD (yeah I'm old fashioned), waterproof and the 120Hz display is icing. Might even run a bit faster too.

You should have mentioned it's price, which is supposedly its major selling point.
Not mentioning it makes me believe it's overpriced.
It's definitely not 'cheap' but it's cheaper than the 'flagships' in terms of MSRP and offers 95% of the specs. Bonus is that you can order the 5g model and it comes with the Snapdragon 865. All it's missing is a glass back, Gorilla glass 6 on the front and a 1440p display. In Europe the 5g models are €759.
in america its 699 msrp but 599 at most places like BH and amazon and bestbuy

It's a phone that cuts all the unnecessary corners that would otherwise add up to the expensive af flagship prices.Doing that while still being an amazing phone with practically no shortcomings.
I fail to see how a SD865 and 120hz screen, and 600-700$ price tag count as mid range.
They should have released it earlier and not in late September, got my s10 lite in July and they released this in September bruh

I think A71 is better if you don't mind not having water resistant phone/telephoto cam/stereo/best processor/wirless charging, because to me this thing don't worth the price difference, especially considering the screen is smaller.

Being an owner of the S20 Ultra, I can say that I think the FE will beat other phones easily at the same price range if you care about specs. My ultra is a beast. Samsung did phenomenal this year.
This is the SG S20 we are afraid of the iPhone 12 edition. Witch is a good thing for customers.

It is a mid-range S20+, northing else to see here. In the UK the S20+ is close to this in price (new) as sales of the s20 line have been less than stellar. I could pay £700 for the S20FE or the same price for the S20+? Nice choice to have but let us not claim it something it isn't! Using the above juxtaposition, the S20FE is a pizza and the S20+ is a gourmet meal discounted to the same price as your pizza! The choice is yours!

Reasons S20 FE is midranger:
¤ FHD+ Amoled display
¤Plastic aka polycarbonate back
¤Slightly less capable cameras or last gen flagship cameras
¤ Thicker bezels compared to flagships
These are pretty much everything I could find and rest are definitely flagship features.
You can have the S20 plus for the same price as the S20 FE.
True but in Europe the S20 plus only comes with the Exynos 990 chipset whereas you can order the FE 5g with the Snapdragon 865, the only Samsung phone with the Snapdragon chipset in Europe.

It's a lite flagship. It has a flagship soc so, it isn't mid-range in my opinion.
If you never really care much about DeX or 8K video recording, it is definitely hard to beat this S20 FE, especially the 5G variant.

just remember samsung has limited international warranty - meaning if you need to travel outside of the country of purchase warranty is not covered and you also won't be able to change the screen or repair it unless it is in the country you purchased it
Why the FE is not like any other mid range phone is the internals are flagship. Other mid ranges might look prettier but Id much rather have a SD 865 than a SD765G. Samsung cut down on the right places giving the FE pretty much all the drooling features of the flagship just not the glass back and I can live with that.
