Your landlord should be cutting you some slack on rent for all the value you have added to his property! 😊 Looks wonderful! It’s so rewarding to reap the fruits (and vegetables) of your labor. It makes the hard work so worthwhile.
God bless RUclips! The "normal" person's ideas are phenomenal! Your yard is gorgeous!! I love your reused items and your fresh gardens!! Kept it coming!
Your hard work paid off. It's so frigging cute and useable now. One thing I didn't hear you mention is a compost pile. You soil will thank you. And you can put all your scraps, and all the yard clippings can be put to use rather than tossed. Another investment I will suggest is buying worms. They help so much to keep your soil from being so rock hard. It helps when it rains to get the water to the roots and they help the composting process along. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that if there is anything you buy plant wise, be sure to keep it potted. Because anything you plant in the soul is the landlords whenever you move. Only the things you are gardening with in pots are yours. Learned that lesson the hard way.
We have a compost bin that we use almost daily, and I don't mind leaving things planted in the ground. I can always put them back in pots if I really want to keep them, or leave them for whoever is here next.
I just came to the comments to let the algorithm know that your channel is supposed to blow up! I am happy I found you - your content is so professionel yet it feels very fresh and personal. ❤
Your garden is looking great, a real eclectic group of plants with many surprises through the seasons. One minor suggestion is to water the plants before you mulch so that it holds in the moisture.
A beautiful little Oasis...very cozy backyard. Proof u don't need to spend a ton of money to make it work..love it !! Now you just gave me the will to start improving my little backyard too.
I love your upgrades on the found furniture and the do woth what you have attitude. I would definitely chill we i th h you in the yard. Thanks for sharing!
Another option, instead of wood chip mulch, is "cotton seed hulls". I use it in my flower & vegetable garden. I live in western Kansas & moisture is always a problem. In our area it is less expensive than wood chips. I live in a rural area & get it from the CO-OP. You might want to check with a garden center, this fall, if you're interested. It's soo dry here and the wind will blow away the mulch. I put it out about 3 in deep over the bed & around the plants. I step on the cotton see hulls to crunch them flat over the ground, I then spray with water to kind of "set" it. You can water your plants as normal, sprinler or spray nozzle. It might be worth checking out....for the cost alone. I love It!!
Oh that’s really interesting! Thanks so much I will absolutely check that out! I can get free wood chip mulch from the city but I don’t have the means to transport it so it wouldn’t really be free as I’d have to rent a trailer of some kind. It’s such a process! But loving it :) thanks again!
I'm glad you didn't try to stain the round table. I love the blue color you chose. I have always felt that cool colors in a hot climate help to visually cool things down. Love your backyard
I think the dirt patch is screaming for a 14" Intex above ground pool. I have one and it's my favorite part of my backyard. We just have it up all year long. We live in WI. It is run from a heavy duty extension cord from the house to the pump. Then if you move, you can take it down and bring it with you.
So love seeing the progress. My only hmmm moment was the stones around the loquat tree table and chairs. Sure looks like a tripping hazard. Pretty, though. Don't know about your area, but here in Central Florida crushed shells are the bomb instead of costly gravel/stones/pebbles. Low cost, easy to install, easy to walk on (not barefoot!), attractive, weed deterring, and long lasting. Almost become one with the soil they're placed on. Everywhere in state parks here. LOL. And talk about some stuff slugs and snails don't like! Check out "three sisters" planting: corn, squash, and beans. Interesting even if not applied!
Love the tile table and the wrought iron chairs. I usually put my chair cushions round edge back/square corners to the front. Provides more coverage under the knees. But maybe I’m ‘backwards’.
Thank you so much for creating that graphic on Canva - bcse I was honestly confused each time I watched your backyard makeovers on the location of everything! Lol!! I could tell it was really spacious & large just couldn't get a bearing on where things were - so this is great!!!
I love how your table came out, very nice. I noticed you using Kellogg's Garden Soil, the red/white striped bag. I recently saw a garden tour of someone in Yuba City using this as garden bed "mulch" to cut back on weeds and dust because it is so mulch heavy. But since it also contains soil, she stated that her beds love it and benefit from it. Just FYI. I'm really enjoying your channel, this is the first video and glad the system prompted me.
Oh wow thats good to know! there is SO much to learn about gardening I always appreciate the tips so thank you! I really appreciate you hanging out and I'm glad we found each other! : )
Just found you love what you're doing to your backyard area just to let you know that when you take plants out of their pots to loosen up the roots when you put them in the ground it helps them to grow better❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Yes I do that most times, but if the roots aren't bound to the pot its easier for them to unwind so I guess I leave it up to nature sometimes haha
It's gorgeous and the work you've done is incredible. CA is a growing paradise! Same as you do indoors, your attention to detail and curation skills make all the spaces so charming!! The potato harvest was absolutely thrilling!! Love the table blue, that wood had seen way better days and much prettier to paint it. Hope your BBQ was a hit!
OMG - that mini fridge is actually adorable, too cute! I really like the cooler, that it's on its own stand, good idea. Yards and gardens are always a work in progress, are they ever really finished? Yours has come a long way, it looks neat and clean. I really like the covered breezeway area, nice spot.
omg, those potatoes!!! If you ever decided to have a "Barefoot Contessa" moment and share recipes from your garden, I'm all for it!!! very nice! I have been greatly enjoying your content!
@@livingwithlk haha not sure! but with your content that I've been enjoying, I saw you mentioned plants (I LOVE plants) and your garden make-over with all of those delicious looking potatoes made me excited for where you will branch next. Thank you for creating such enjoyable content! Your home is lovely!
When I see a crew pruning trees and chipping tree trimmings, I ask if they will dump the chips on my property. They usually don’t mind as it may save them a trip to the dump. This is what I use to cover neglected areas of my yard.
Yeah when I heard Kevin from Epic Gardening talk about that I looked, but haven’t seen any in my neighborhood! I also don’t have a truck to head down to the city to pick it up for free. Oh well!
I love all the little different areas with their own little vibe going. That’s really cool. Where are you part of the country because I’m in Texas and it’s like 1000° here.
You did an amazing job! I know you're gonna have a great holiday party. Where do you live? I know you've said before but I can't remember. I'm sure it's somewhere in CA. I'm trying to research for my next chapter in life. Ive lived in Texas all my life and I love being outdoors but not much of the year can we actually tolerate being outdoors. I turned 50 this year and like alot of people now days, I love to thrift, antique, flea market, estate sale hunt, and garage sale... I can't do it but a couple hours a day. CA is so expensive though!
we have tons of jasmine and it was blooming during this video. haven’t managed to get the lavender thriving yet but it’s growing and still alive. i also have mint and a few types of basil.
It looks great. I love they way you created each little area. Looks like you went back and put pebbles and bricks around the blue mosaic table and chairs. I would have painted the table whatever paint color I had on hand! Good that you used what you had. I looked up Pride of Madeira because I had never heard of it. The good part is that's gorgeous. The bad is that it's invasive and harmful to humans and pets.
I’m only in the middle of your video but some of your plants are struggling as you need to water them - your soil is super dry! Water them before & after planting
I realize you have to go w what you have: Simply fyi, the video sotware you have is making the music you play distort + be off-key -- I almost wouldn't have music until the right software "popped up" in my life. ? Up to you, of course.

right?! hahaha thank you!!
Lucky landlord, to have you caring for his property. You make the place bloom. Happy house! Win win.

Thank you!! I appreciate all the tips :) I’m new to gardening and landscaping!
Very cute! Try turning the cushions on the chair around so the round part faces the back and the straight part faces the front.
Thanks! I did both ways and they're awkward in either orientation : /
Wow ! I was so happy that there were so many potatoes.
omg me too!!
Looks great! What a hard working team!! Your vision is amazing💖!
Thank you so much!
What a big back yard, you both did an awesome job,,, it looks great love all the potatoes

LK you have a green thumb! Great potato and veggie harvest. With all you have done your landlord should be very pleased with you. Enjoy the 4th.

Thanks so much Donna! The bbq was so much fun and everyone loved the yard so much! :) I can’t wait to do a corn harvest🥰
A true labor of love! Can you do more Canva videos? Loved the layout.
What you are saving on produce alone is worth it!

Beautiful work
For future reference Pride of Maderia will take a hard prune and come back. So just keep it under control. I miss those here in Oregon.

Go online with all the sales and get an outdoor rug. You do such a nice job! Happy 4th!
Putting a small colorful tablecloth on the table you found would like nice.

Haha I’m in southern california! it’s definitely hot but Texas is so intense with the weather! I’d pick the 85 degree humidity here haha thank you!
Looks so good. Glad I found you. Some of tge sites kill meceith all the music blaring
