YES, LK!!! As a renter myself in Milwaukee, WI, the universe will give back to you 10 fold what you have given out! Cultivate that garden and beautify your space you occupy right now! ❤ Whether the landlord appreciates it or the next tenants do or not does not matter. You are giving to yourself the therapy and joy your mind and body craves. You grow girl!!
The outdoor area is as important as the indoor. I spend a lot of time outdoors redoing my gardens and digging in the dirt. Love all the possibilities in your space.
Farm girl and life-long gardener here. What an outstanding backyard space. And you're a natural! A few tips that came to mind. Crushed eggshells are an excellent slug/snail deterrent. Leaf lettuces do awesome in containers, like 3-5 gal bucket size. Let them grow up, give them a good haircut to harvest, "rinse and repeat" over and over. Harvest anything leafy like kale/chard/spinach from the outside only. It will rejuvenate continuously as well. Snip (top off) your herbs often and they'll grow bushy instead of leggy. You can dry what's not needed or make infused water and flavored vinegars. Do find a nice sunny place with lots of room for rosemary. It will become a lovely scented bush. Prune your tomatoes (the suckers) for more yield and go for indeterminant. They can grow almost forever in temperate climates. Start root veg/celery/green onions from cut bottoms/tops in water. Lastly, "normal" pickling is great; ferment pickling is grand. Now I'm off to your next garden video. Loving your channel!
I love when you're in the garden yard! I think more home decor youtubers need to have a wholistic view of their homes and spend time on their patios or in their yards, garages, etc. Thanks for this!
I enjoyed watching the garden tour, all the plant additions and your future plans for the outside space. You have a beautiful yard with so much potential. I can really see your garden vision coming to life.
I vote option 3, make the fountain a focal point. Considering you've never had your own yard before, you're doing a pretty good job. You seem very knowledgeable on all your plants and their needs. I like how you have sections, north garden, south, east, etc., very nice! Your landlord must be so pleased that you're loving the yard and investing time in giving it much attention. It's looking very nice. Suggestion - you need a potting area/bench. Could be a project to film, thrift an old sink and something to use as a counter and shelves. Hang one of the windows, you kept from the house, above the counter, would look cool.
Thank you!🥹😊 I am doing so much research so I can try to get it right because I am just dying for the experience to go outside and pick my own food hahaha. I do pot on the table above my garden bench, and on the green garden cart, they're compact but enough space to work in.. but your idea is really great actually! I have thought about shelving but not sure if the landlord would be ok with me drilling into the old plaster.. but I can definitely ask!
Well Lk - for someone who has never had her own backyard or garden - you sure are knowledgeable!! I live in a 3rd floor walkup & am so envious of your easy access to the outdoors! You seem like a natural gardener & it's been so much fun watching you navigate & enjoy this whole process!! Your gardens & backyard are looking amazing!!
Option 1 for the trellis looks the best to me. Also, I love watching your gardening videos-they’re meditative and feel almost spontaneous as we follow your thoughts about which plants may be happy with which other plants and so on.
Thank you so much and amazing!! so glad you're enjoying them! I have been worried it might be isolating to the home decor crowd but I feel like home and garden go together??? haha. I love option 3 but option 1 I think is best at least for now.. until I decide on a trellis plant if I can't find passion fruits.
I have enjoyed watching your back yard come together. Can’t wait to see things grow. Be careful with that garlic. It spreads and can get out of control quickly. It will find its way under the planter bed! Best to grow it in a contain pot.
So excited for you darling you have done a GREAT job. You’re so inspiring..the only way I’ve been able to keep pest and birds away from eating my seedling etc. was to put up a quick easy cheap temporary netting over the bed until they grow a little also I think another help to me was getting dollar store wind steaks with wind blowing birds that constantly fluttered in the wind helped a lot to keep the birds out of the seedling new growth all this can be removed after they grow a little I hope this helps take care and God bless you and your family 🙏🌻😍
omg thank you! this is so sweet 🥰😍 I will definitely try that! I think I had some aphids as I found them on my radishes :( don’t think they’ll last now… but now I have some neem oil and I used some dish soap to get them off lol
@@livingwithlk excellent idea, learning so much from your knowledge of plants. I’m a 64 yr old mother of 4, and grandmother of 12! It’s never too late to learn 🤗 btw I love your garden and outdoor space so much. Thanks for the inspiration. God bless 🙏🌻
I think your videos are great! You show so much enthusiasm, makes it interesting and entertaining. So happy to see you discovered gardening! I love it too. It is so good for the mind and soul! Can’t wait to see how your gardens do. I moved from IL to TX a couple years ago and planting has been a challenge so far. Had to relearn everything about what to plant in this new environment. Good luck, keep doing what you’re doing!
Thank you so much! 😍🥹 I am soo excited to see this garden flourish! Happy to have some fellow gardeners here :D I think the learning process can be pretty fun, but absolutely challenging if all you want is to harvest and nothing is happening haha. Best of luck with your garden!
Amazing and a huge amount of work! Gardening looks so glamorous in the media, it’s hard! Can’t wait to see if your greenhouse fulfills its purpose, always wanted one but here in the NE, we seem to be having some epic wind events and don’t want to see it flying past me. CA weather is so great for planting, our season is too short. great garden centers, good prices, I started planting but we just haven’t had the sun needed. I’ve lost count of all your beds! I totally agree with your philosophy about the rental garden, it’s the earth and it’s there for you to use, and it’s wonderful that you’re using it. Good luck, keep us posted!!
Haha yeah! Gardening is really hard work!! But I think most home maintenance is right? My DIY projects can take it out me hahah. And so far the greenhouse is working! My thyme is finally coming in, the tomato is bigger and more peppers are popping up! Still struggling with cucumbers, chilis and squashes but so far I am really loving it and I think its doing the job! -- I was laughing imagining a flying greenhouse 😂 Thank so much!!
Yes of course! I trellis as I go as I don't have a ton of trellises to work with but I hope they keep getting bigger! I might try a florida weave trellis as it seems pretty affordable to edit over time.
You might have bunny rabbits w the bok choy being eaten. I'm not sure if birds eat bok choy. Bunnies live in a lot of places, hidden from our (killing) sight .
Your dedication to transforming your backyard into a beautiful and functional outdoor living space is truly inspiring!
Thank you!

I need a little greenhouse like yours!!! Thank you for getting it, setting it up, + trialing it.

Hi! That’s so cool you’re over there! Never been but would love to visit. Thanks for hanging out with me!
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I love your videos! Do you think Kobey's Swap Meet is worth going to? Daughter lives in SD. Keep going, girl!
Thank you! I have been meaning to go but I have heard it’s mainly clothes. I’ll definitely try to go one of these days and report back!
"De-weed" ... You are so funny.😊
Just a heads up. Tomatillos are indeterminate and will grow 6 ft or taller, and pretty bushy. You will need a heavier duty trellis than the bamboo.
