I loved it! Somehow he wrapped up all of the strings without a single predictable bend. There were no last-minute revelations: for instance I would’ve cringed if Quentin had uttered, with blood falling out of his mouth, “Greg loved me” or some such cliche.
    And Daphne’s philosophy
“just do what you can to not feel like a victim” worked so well for her that it almost makes you re-think the meaning of revenge: she has children with her lover so she can continue loving her philandering husband, and she has sex with Ethan, to even the score so she can keep her dignity and feel good about staying with her husband. She evens the score and then moves on…such an interesting character to me. She says
“You don’t have to know everything to love someone.” And she means it.
Mike White has some genius in him while he’s writing these scripts.
    Long live White Lotus!

I love that Tanya was the one to bite the dust. I thought for sure that two of the bodies would be Mia and Lucia, which would've been predictable. Killing off Tanya, a recurring character, was far more ballsy and unexpected.

    • @leahbelieva
      @leahbelieva Год назад

I also thought early on that two of the bodies would be Lucia and Mia. I think season 1 was really focused on wealth imbalances. This season obviously still has that but it also seemed to be heavily focused on infidelity as a whole. Obviously all of the assumed and confirmed cheating between Harper, Ethan, Cameron, and Daphne. Also Tanya’s husband cheating on her and then she cheating on him. The dad cheating on his wife back in LA and his father’s history of infidelity. Not really cheating but the felt betrayal between Portia and the kid? (I’m so sorry those three men were so ick I can’t remember their names honestly😂). All to say: if Lucia and Mia had died I think it would have aligned the season much more with the overarching theme of season 1. Those two living and surviving was like the underdogs’ closure that we needed from season 1.

Man It was so frustrating to watch Tonya attempt to get down to the dinghy boat below over the side railing!
There were small steps down just to her right at rear of the yacht!!
Why would the writer make her ‘smart enough’ to figure out the murder plot against her, but also make her ‘stupid enough’ not to know there’s steps down to yachts rear deck platform?
Clearly she must’ve seen or known that’s how her assassin guy got onboard and up onto upper deck?

As good as Season one was, the 2nd season of the White Lotus was “perfecto!” Ethan and Daphne was very ironic because Harper was talking about how much of their marriage was a front but in the end, does infidelity pay off? Depends on the lifestyle. Just loved the American Psycho overtones. Jennifer Coolidge was so good at playing borderline personality divaa. Her fate was operatic (and comedic), bravo! As someone who stayed with my father’s side of the family during one Summer in Italy; I roared in laughter the moment the Italian American family pulled up in hopes of meeting relatives and were immediately expelled. I turned to my girlfriend and said, “That’s the Italy I remember in 1995…” Lastly the two escorts’ arc was really good before they were dreading the fate of prostitutes as almost a 4th wall but in the end, they found their way to a better life. I liked your review but do not think some of your viewers get it. Theo James and Meghann Fahy are the best. Will Sharpe is a nice actor. Aubrey Plaza play 18 herself. I think that Daphne makes the trainer suggestion as part of her defense. She also . She is hurt and very hurt when Ethan told her about Cameron and Harper. Look at her face both both when Harper tells her about the first cheat and Daphne wanted to be friends. Harper was also coming on to Cameron. She was game playing with her questions and remarks. I think that not much happened between Daphne and Ethan other than she tried to give him courage. I think in his own way Cameron have himself away when he 18:12 Daphne you left me please don’t that again and she said she would not and in the last dinner together when he says to her thanks for putting up with him. Theo James admitting he did it himself and Mike left it in. I think that Cameron was not at all happy with the name calling and his relationship with Ethan was not what he was trying for. The best actors on season 2 are Theo James and Meghann Fahy and I hope that they are in season 3 and that they both get all the recognition they deserve. They both have amazing personalities and are funny and both can sing and dance. I hope Mike White looks to find a place for them . The actors of season 2 were all great. Jennifer Cooley is one of the best. This cast outshines season 1 They like each other and because of the length of time they were together it showed in the episodes. Theo James personality has warmth and his smile and laugh as well as Meghann’s makes them and their characters fun. I am not an Aubrey Plaza fan and feel she was more the villain than Cameron. I like your review. Please make sure you talk about Theo James and Meghann Fahy by name. My hope is they both get all the recognition they deserve.

I agree with your review. Great writing, story ,and acting---except for the " resolution" of the relationships among Ethan, Harper, Cameron, and Daphne. I found that to be ludicrous , grossly unrealistic, and unsatisfying as far as reality goes. So--after Harper was revealed to be a cheater and liar and Ethan and Cameron attempted to drown each other hours before, they sit down together as though nothing happened and have a toast--what!!!!! And.. during the toast, Cameron expresses his pleasure at having had the opportunity to get to know Harper " properly"--clearly meaning sexually! And... Ethan and Harper raise their glasses to this sociopath. Sorry--i think that Mike White blew the writing on this segment of the story. Yeah, the story is about odd people but no one in the world would act like that. Aside from this segment, I loved the series, the story and the acting.

Do we notice Daphne’s coloring. If you are parents look at your own children sometimes. Since I have actually had 3 children I can say that many things come from family DNA. Surprise. I think that Cameron understands his old roommate. If in college Ethan struggled and Cameron who was the Campus jock at Yale it is possible that Cameron maybe understood more than we give him. credit for. There was little things that are overlooked and though Mike White does not feel Cameron will change maybe having some other things to experience in the far east can help someone like that. I do not believe people cannot change if certain things confront them. Cameron and Daphne love each other. He needs her. Ethan most likely Chas never faced up to his problems. He is smart but not worldly. We are looking at a small actually 1% of the population. Have we recently noticed Bill Gates. What about Elliot Spitzer or Andrew Cuomo . I think that the best performances are Theo James and Meghann Fayh and I think the 2 couples really need more to their stories. Certainly Tanya’s death as well. Lastly Dear Albie and Portia. . The girls who had the best con need to be caught somehow. Albie needs to stop Lucia getting the money and Mia gave drugs to the piano player. To me far more than the cheating is how did they get the drugs? I think that the unfinished stories should be addressed. You can keep bringing in more ugly rich people but after Covid that we all dealt with I think there is moreto look at and seeing it play out 😅❤as people have to deal with things. Cameron said to Daphne you left me overnight. Don’t do that again . He was in his own way asking her not to . Also she wanted a friend in Harper thinking that as a discrimination lawyer Harper might see more like Gloria Allred but Harper is an angry woman. Cameron tested her and had a choice. Because Harper and Ethan never had a good relationship she just went on to reach Cameron. Twice you saw the hurt on Daphne’s face. I think she was trying to be a friend to Ethan. That does not cure a sex problem but I think his influence would be good for Cameron. It was strange that Cameron giggled after the fight because he discovered I think she game played both of them. That is Harper. If any of his company looked to hire her or the opposition does boy does he have a story. I think that Cameron and Daphne ended the vacation not angry. That is the right thing. Cameron let Ethan know his feelings and he did let Harper also know he has her number. And he let Daphne know by saying. to her thanks for putting up with me. My question is was that a Mike White line or a Theo James line who does rand ad lib. The flossing scene is more about the tensions that exist. He is not happy with Harper and r
marks Ethan has made. He also still has to pay Lucia. I think he wanted a different out come. At the airport Daphne examines his face and he kisses her . There is more to this story. Again I think to everyone since Covid since no one has completely escaped including the wealthy we all have to consider it all. Mike White knows it very well. His father’s issues as well as other families in both the religious community and outside. Thank you again. I think that most of us look at a program with our own experiences and unfortunately many of us live more on social media instead of living life. I have turned off most opinions and will do far more of that . We elected a President without learning far more. We allowed a few Supreme Court Justices on the correct the same way. Strange one of them went to Yale for certain. Thank you

Michael imperioli character seems like a guy that's been around a lot of hookers. I find it hard to believe he wouldn't put some kind of "hold" on the 50,000 euros. As soon as she left Albie next morning, the money should have been retracted.

I think that storyline had a lot to do with trust. He transferred the money before he told Albi. Albi put in a good word with his mom before he knew his dad transferred the money. I think Albi really made his dad feel good to (and obligated to) give Lucia the money. Like Albi said, his dad wouldn’t miss it anyway. I also feel like it taps into the same woke/fake altruism we see in season 1 from Olivia towards Paula, and from Tanya towards Belinda. Idkidkidk. There’s a lot of layers😂

Great commentary of #TheWhiteLotus Sicily. However, I'm disappointed that you failed to recognize Theo James, Meghann Fahey & Will Sharpe by name as you did recognize everyone but them. They brilliantly portrayed their characters, as you mentioned, & deserve the recognition for their work. I know it wasn't intentional but please be more careful. No one likes to be overlooked.
Check out Theo in #TheTimeTravelersWife Series. He brilliantly portrays himself at different ages thru time & does majority of his stunts. Created by Steven Moffat, directed by David Nutter, with Theo James & Rose Leslie, & author Audrey Niffenegger worked as a consultant. Award worthy performances. You won't regret watching! Would like to hear a commentary on this one also!

I just watched both seasons for the first time, but season 2 is definitely the better season. Aside from the one scene where Tanya turns into an assassin killing everyone, season 2 has a much stronger sense of realism in the characters and just throughout. It's shot and overall done better and is simply a little more entertaining. I still enjoyed the first season, but some of the characters where a little too silly and unrealistic (Mark and Shane are the first to come to mind).

Ethan and Daphne may have had sex. I can also see Ethan seeing her intentions, realizing how messed up her and Cameron's marriage/life is (to him anyway) and feeling lucky to have what he has with Harper. Either way, hope it helped him to get over whatever he was going through. I was starting to question his sanity in the past couple of episodes tbh.

I welcome the death of cinema. The two hour format's been mostly exhausted at this point. There's only so many stories you can squeeze into a 2 hour format or more accurately there's only so many techniques to use to squeeze a story in a two hour format so they end up having similar elements to them and they get to be relatively repetitive. The high budget tv series format has only been going on for a little over 20 years at this point, but with that I see little reason to waste any time on movies. i guess if there some original ground breaking movie, but for the most part high budget tv shows have changed the game.

I need HBO to order a 10 episode season of The White Lotus. No more of this short-series nonsense. It's a highly popular show that reasonably not that expensive to produce. No special effects or set design. I mean, they even barely get out of the hotel. Every night every tourist just somehow eat in the same hotel restaurant.
