The Whote Lotus was the best Series on TV this year! I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to all of your weekly reviews. I don’t know if you got a chance to catch Aubrey Plaza on late night with Seth Meyers a couple nights ago but her interview revealed a little bit of what I think played out between she and Cameron and Ethan and Daphne. She claimed in the interview that there was no penetration between her and Cameron, but whatever she did she hated every minute of it. And she also claimed that for the future she wishes that Harper would divorce Ethan and take all of his money. That kind of indicated to me that Ethan definitely cheated on her with Daphne yet she really did only kiss Cameron.
And I agree with you about Greg appearing in season 3 with his new hot girlfriend spending Tanya’s money.
#RIPTanya
@@HH-gv8mx What about "Nephew" ? Will he be back for season 3 too ? ...Mourning "Uncle" 😂 This show is just soooo good .And I love how I hate all the carachters every season because there are no "good guys"
Daphne spent the whole first part of the trip trying to become friends with Harper because she wanted a friend she could relate to. She figured that since Ethan is rich now he’s going to turn into Cameron so she felt she had a kindred spirit in Harper. But at the end when Ethan comes up to her and tells her what happened with Harper and Cameron, Daphne realized that Ethan is actually the Daphne in that relationship. I think that was one of the overarching themes, how all these rich people are the same: Tanya sees herself in Portia, Daphne and Ethan are similar and so are Harper and Cameron, and the di grasso men are all just different versions of the same man
Great point of view! ❤
The season went by so fast. I wish it would have been longer. Poor Tonya really took herself out in such an appropriate way 😂
10 episodes would be even better!!!!😇
Right! That was VERY Tanya!!
@@beadragon1048 I agree. Too many loose ends.
Cam laughed as Ethan walked away from fight as if he got exactly what he wanted from Ethan. He enjoyed knowing he could still take Ethan's girl just like the good ole days regardless of how rich & successful Ethan became.
Exactly! Though the same.
Mia gave Valentina the ability to feel okay with her sexuality, that is beautiful, and she even says she'll help her meet real lesbians so I don't think it was Mia using her so much as them helping eachother improve their lives
yes! I think more so into that is how different it is when she tries to give in to the pianist guy for more or less the same "favor". They both learn to see each other past the "titles" and help each other.
I agree! I felt soooo happy for Valentina. She was wound up much too tight, but Mia helped her loosen up and live her life.
I loved this character arc. In stark contrast to the pianist and Mia. An explicit assertion on gender relations. I really loved watching Mia blossom into herself. She looks completely different from when we first see her face and body language.
Dom said yes because it was a valid investment. He knew Lucia would disappear which is all he wanted and the ideal in his head to get his wife back by satisfying Albie and “save” Albie at the same time
I’m so sad Tanya died. She was SO close to making it. And I thought she was going to be a recurring character.
Also, it was so interesting how Harper and Ethan turned out. I honestly don’t fully understand it. I don’t know if I should feel bad for Daphne or not. The actress is amazing. I could see how hurt she was when she found out about Harper. I thought she was going to snap and be the killer. I’m surprised she never reacted strongly to the cheating
As far as why Harper and Ethan found a more intense connection, it is because Daphne & Cam showed them how easy it is to lose each other. Their passion is ignited after both getting a little taste of something else proving their bond is stronger than a little side action. I don’t practice this or even condone it but I also don’t judge others what they do behind closed doors as consenting adults.
Also it is the writer and director’s commentary through these scenes that he believes this method works for re igniting passion in a sexless marriage. It is his observation he is sharing with the audience. But it is a slippery slope IMO what works for them may not work for everyone lol
Yes she was so good!
I think Daphne's initial reaction was surprised that he slept with Harper, since they were vacationing together. That probably stung. But, she was able to take agency by connecting with Ethan. She said she didn't want to be a victim, and she's not.
Daphne's too comfortable living rich. She'll happily swallow any difficult pills to stay financially well-off. Can't say I blame her!
Huh? Daphne & Cams children are made with Daphens trainer, she has no right to feel bad and she knows it.
Ethan asked Harper "So, it wasn't for the hat?" He was making a point that her lying about hat was premeditated & that she knew Cam walking her to room was wrong.
Absolutely. While I had positive feelings about the Harper character early on, she showed a very different side of herself . Watch all of her interactions with Cameron from the point when she saw Ethan talking to the hookers. She was as seductive to Cameron as he was to her. This was clear intentional collusion and meant to hurt Ethan--rubbing his face in it and lying constantly about in an attempt to make him feel paranoid. And, of all the men she could have fooled around with, she picks the one who has spent his life belittling her husband . If I were the writer, I would have had Ethan throw her out for good. Of course , the fact that i am writing this as though they are real people suggests excellent writing, directing and acting.
@@Aodhanlurchershe participated in flirtation and there was a building of sexual tension from the first moment he was naked in front of her while changing into the bathing suit
@@AodhanlurcherI don’t feel sorry for ethan. He constantly rejects Harper, he’s annoyed with everything she does, she can’t do anything right and he doesn’t want to sleep with her. Then she finds out he prefers watching adult movies and hookers over her. And he lied to her about it. I don’t blame her for not being faithful to a man who doesn’t want her and isn’t faithful to her.
Why is Ethan friends with Cameron if he is always belittling him and goes out of his way to take all the women he likes away from him? Maybe he’s a cuck. And it seems like he actually needed this because now he can be affectionate with Harper which is everything she wanted. The only person I feel sorry for is Cameron’s wife.
.@@katybee3891 Good points.
Tanya spends her money/time to help save Greg's life due to his illness & ironically he's the reason why she died. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished lol
Just got hbo and watched 6 in a row last week and finale following nite I would like to see season one now
Mia and Lucia won White Lotus season 2 for sure. I'm really surprised people thought Lucia was actually into Albie.
Why has able NO money at all he is a jerk
Goes to show how realistic it is that Albie might be carried away by lucia's rhetoric. These people are as gullible as Albie
Right?! It was a job, Albie was nothing more to her than a mark 37:50
I may be the only one that doesn’t feel bad for Tanya lol. I’m still mad at how she strung Belinda along all last season and once Greg gave her a lil attention she proceeded to share her life and money with him. Sex was her downfall and her complicated relationship with men lead her to her death.
Harper and Ethan envied what Daphne and Cameron had only to turn into a less toxic version of them in the end. Smh.
I hated Albie from the moment he started spouting off gender studies 101 to Portia. Him turning into a trick was always in the cards.
I do feel bad about Tanya's death. I love Jennifer Coolidge! But you're right. In season 1 I felt so bad for Belinda and how Tanya's insecurity led her straight to the first man who gave her any attention while dropping and forgetting about a person of value and the plans they had discussed. And, I do think Greg's character had grifter written all over it from the get go! True but sadly realistic scenario for many women...
Right! At the end of the day, Harper was WAY more toxic than Daphne, and if I had to choose who I would hang out with it wouldn’t he bitter Harper.
@@paige4128 absolutely! Daphne took her life for what it was instead of trying to find fault with other people and it was refreshing to see.
Meghann (daphne) never looked more beautiful than when that sun was hitting those freckles on the beach. i was shook.
You should hear her sing, she’s a phenomenal talent. I think she is actually the underdog and I hope she gets an Emmy for her performance. She’s magnificent
I got hot when I saw him standing in the doorway naked then knealing at foot of bed.....wow
Ladies anyone else???
Agreed
facts im glad this comment is here
Sad to see Tanya go but it was hilarious and she went out like a boss then a klutz. I thought the finale was 🔥🔥🔥. 10/10
I laughed so hard when she bounced off that railing. Then wondered if I was supposed to be laughing at all.
was really disappointed at first like that wouldnt have been me trying to escape..
You’re not the first person to mention that it was funny. I just don’t get why people think it’s so funny. Perhaps it depends on your sense of humor.
If my last days were like Tanya I'd be fine with that. She got to live it up like a rockstar lol. Live hard die hard 😂
Loved the ending! This season is truly better than the last.
Daphne's performance was so superb. The scene when Ethan told her about Harper and Cameron was heartbreaking. She showed two deep emotions that in a split second snapped back to survival mode.
Cameron's expression while he was in the bathroom says a whole lot about him as a person and truly show that he knows that one the two if not both kids are not his. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So my take on Cameron and the kids is the opposite. I believe he is just a disconnected family man, it’s just smoke and mirrors. He’s annoyed to have to be a dad. I don’t think he suspects Daphne because he’s a total narcissist 😊
Who did daf cheat with
@shelleyharris4176 her trainer, Lawrence, she mentions this to Harper and tells her to get a trainer aka someone to cheat with.
I also think that she showed the pic of her kids as a way to tell Harper that she spends most of her time lonely with the kids while wishfully thinking that she had an affair with a hot trainer.
She said the trainer is blonde w blue eyes and her son is blonde with blue eyes bc thats her kid with the trainer
@@jadeelise7982 OMG
I actually think it was less about getting back at Harper, but instead, Daphne was really hurt by knowing that it was Harper & Cam, based on her facial expression changing. Like you said, she confided in Harper and then knowing that she took her advice and it being with Cam of all people, really hurt her.
Y'all peep Cameron said at the dinner table "It was nice to FULLY get to know you Harper,"
Honestly I would love to see more Daphne. I think she became my favorite character other than Valentina and I didn’t expect it but her entire mindset interests me. I feel like she was also the only one who genuinely cared about others, especially Harper. I honestly just want to see her make a real connection with someone because all of the interactions she has are so superficial and I really do feel like she deserves better.
One of Tanya’s last moments in season one I believe (not sure of the timing) was saying that death was the last immersive experience she hasn’t done and she finally got that experience
Daphne is a complicated character. Cam nearly cheated with 2 women (almost 3 if you include Mia lol) during 1 week vacay, imagine how much he cheats back home.
I’m bummed about Tanya but agree, how she died was very Tanya and her successfully shooting everyone with her eyes closed was hilarious 😂. I disagree about Albee. I think he’s still who he is and his experience and Portia’s experience bonds them together. It felt like he just acknowledged he got played and accepted the lesson and moved on especially since it wasn’t his money anyway.
Love the recap! I never really bought into the idea that Albie was a nice guy, in my opinion he saw women the same way his dad and grandpa did and wanted the same thing from them, just went after them in a different way by saying and doing what he thought women would appreciate, so I was kinda glad he got played by Lucia, lol. Also the way that Tanya died was such a Tanya thing to do, she’s such a clueless diva…and it was also a way of Mike White to subvert everyone’s theories and expectations, just great stuff. Absolutely loved this season, really like the first one but this one was something else!
Albie’s trauma having been played by Lucia seemingly will start him on the same pattern as his dad and grandpa have around relationships and women. He was naive and innocent before but Lucia broke the seal and he’ll end up like his patriarchs as seen in the last shot of them checking out the same girl in the airport
Yes I never bought Alby's nice-guy routine either. It was always a passive-aggressive way of controlling others with unspoken expectations that the recipient of his niceness would return the favor by doing what he wanted from them. People who are too nice in life make me more uncomfortable than people who are direct and even tactless because at least I know exactly what the latter want from me. Also Albee's nice-guy persona borders on a savior complex which is very narcissistic because it shows that he thinks he has more influence in other people's lives than he does and probably also comes from wanting to make up for how he saw his dad and grandpa treat the women in their lives.
I think Ablee's mom has someone else in her life. The way she sounded on the phone the last time they spoke.
Agreed
Yes! She told him she couldn't talk right now and sounded rushed on the call like she wanted to hang up quickly.
I think there may have been a season 3 easter egg in the season finale. When the two couples are dining together some says something about "let's go to the maldives together", that works for an exotic tropical asian destination, as well Four Seasons does have a resort in the Maldives, which I assume they would get HBO access to film at if need be. White Lotus through two seasons has been filmed at two Four Seasons Resorts, the Four Seasons Maui, and the San Domenico Palace, to stay on point of White Lotus Resorts being Four Seasons this works, who knows...
That and the writer director said he was going to have season 3 in the east
@@davidkruse4030 though what the hell do you build a 7-8 episode season story arc around on isolated small atoll resort, and those 4 while interesting characters for a season, and great acting by them all, what more can be done with them to warrant another season with them in it.
Yes think 2 couples have been used up
I loved both seasons but this one was a bit more intense/eerie which gave it a slightly different feel. After hearing that the theme was sex/pleasure, a lot of the character interactions and arcs became more intriguing to break down. Some characters mirror each other. Some interact and swap ideals/morals with each other. There's a lot that could be talked about, even with the minor characters.
Yes I loved the intensity of this season! It really got my heart pounding.
Will Sharp who plays Ethan REALLY did a great job in this last episode. He was so believable!
I wondered about shape of face and eyes
I kept thinking he looked oriental and found out he is half Japanese
Lucia was used to men disposing of her but then she found Albie who treated her special & wanted to keep her around. She expresses guilt as she's laying on his chest & leaving his room the next day. She & Allesio has grifted others before Albie though.
Yes I thought Megan Fahey was great all the way through. She started as maybe one-dimensional but she wasn’t that at all. She knew Daphne’s soul and you could see it in her face. You could see the pain but also the love. She was breathtaking.
Think she was wrong to accept his sleeping around
I think it was sad how Tanya died, but I appreciate the writers killing her off in a very "Tanya" way. I agree that Season 2 was darker, deeper, and made us think more than maybe the first one. I think season 3 should either be someplace like South America or Africa! 🙌🤩
I wanted her to make it sooo bad ! I’m so sad about it
Anybody speak Italian? Please go to episode 1, I’m rewatching it… and Lucia passes her “pimp” where he works and they say something in Italian to each other but it’s not translated… 7:04 😃
Great catch Kelsey! Now I’m going to research it.
When Lucia left the room and looked back at Albie I believe she was thinking about the life she could have. In that moment I think she was she pictured herself as a wife and mother but in that moment she rejected it. I believe she enjoys her life even if she sometimes wonders what a different life could be like.
I think Ethan was tense the whole time because he knew Cam was gonna hit on his wife. Maybe he thought if he didn't feel too much for her Cam would leave her alone. He was able to be intimate with her because he finally got with Cams girl. He finally got him back.
which makes it even worse for harper because ethan’s arousal was from smashing cams wife to get him back, not actual attraction for harper smh
@@jadesimone_ They're all perfectly messed up for each other
Portia is the only person that knows about Greg's plan. So I see her in the next season. I'm thinking that it will take place somewhere like Bali which is very spiritual - see Eat Pray Love. It will have to be somewhere that has a White Lotus (Four Seasons).
Yes Bali that’s right away came to my mind too
How and when did Portia know about Greg's plan?,
Tanya told Portia she saw old photo who she thought was Greg with hair they they talked about what might be happening
But was Grey involved??
Curious where Portia would get the $$ to travel without Tanya. Maybe she will play Albie too.
@@shelleyharris4176 When Portia calls Tanya on the boat, Tanya told her they were trying to kill her and she suspected Greg.
@@alexrobin6256 Tanya paid. Yes they are on vacation but Portia is working; it’s not a vacation for her. As her assistant you are on the employers beck and call. So Portia doesn’t need any money. As her assistant she goes where Tanya wants her to go.
I laughed so hard when Tanya fell off the boat. Was laughing for the remainder of the episode, just a very on brand fall 😩😂
I would like Harper to return. I feel her character arc was interesting. It almost seems like she could only save her marriage by becoming like Daphne and Cam. I don’t think she wanted this but Ethan needs excitement and mystery by watching adult videos, etc. I also just like Aubrey Plaza. She’s a great actress.
I watched S2E1 again today. Knowing what we know now, Tanya is complaining that Greg has not responded to her texts as she arrives on the dock. Valentina tells Tanya that Greg has already arrived and she says it with a bit of a skeptical look as if she saw Greg co-mingling with the group of gay men in the hotel. Perhaps this was captured on hotel cameras. If Portia tells the police that Greg supposedly left for a couple of days due to business, the police may put 2+2 together and either arrest Greg or better yet, start following him into Season 3 to parts unknown!
Would need to see it again to see what I think
Cam was involved in alot of shenanigans in only 1 week. You would think he would've been excited to speak to "his" son but he put on his fake smile & pretended.
Notice that volcanos were prevalent in both season 1&2
I am wondering which Asian volcano we will visit
Over and over during series got tired of it fast
Indonesia lots of volcanos
I was really happy about Valentina and Mia's endings. Valentina really bugged me at the beginning of the show as she seemed like a terrible fit for the hospitality industry and was such a stickler about things, but as the story progressed and you could see she was a closeted, sexually frustrated lesbian, it really made sense and I really felt empathetic to how she was feeling.
At the end, I'm reminded of Mia's quote about "why is it always men that have the power?" She had that fucked encounter with Giuseppe. Then with Valentina, similar quid pro quo, but the two women actually helped each other out. Mia happily helped Valentina explore her sexual identity and Valentina helped Mia become the singer (which she was also better at than Giuseppe). Same situation of exchanging sex for a favor, but the women actually helped each other and the man was just tryna nut in a pretty girl. Cool stuff
Tanya should have started the spa. Men are so fucked up. It’s best to stay single and be a good person not needy and insecure
Meghann Fahy was the standout star this season! Jennifer Coolidge is still the GOAT, but Meghann was beyond amazing!
It was a great and entertaining finale! I was very sad to see Tanya go. I am looking forward to next season and wondering if anyone might return? I would like to see Greg demolished. Lol.
Tanya looks like Darcy but older
One thing about the actress who plays Daphne… she’s gonna kill her monologue scenes!
hmm, i thought of this season as more about deceit and treachery rather than just sex. Sex i feel was being used to commit treachery between characters, but the majority of the themes were around people deceiving or lying to each other. Even Valentina is lying to herself about certain parts of her life and feelings. Just my two cents.
I assume Tanya’s money will be caught up in an investigation of her death. Portia knows what happened. No way Greg is going to see that money. It’s too sketchy. Plus, that photo is still on the boat!
Wows! Yes! I think perhaps Daphne was more hurt by Harper betraying her than her husband. She already knows her husband cheats on her and she does the same to him and she’s worked that out as being even steven, but after confiding in Harper and trusting her? That’s why she messed around with Harper’s husband. Great insight!
Who did daphne cheat with
I want more info on the two girls how and where do they come from
Watch 1 tp 6 in one shot on crave then 7 Sunday
Never saw season 1
Man was nico hot maybe photo shopped?
So many question but so many fools who never thought things through
Need season 1 to see now
@@shelleyharris4176 Hey! Daphne cheated with Cameron. Also, I’m know that nico and Cameron’s penises were both prosthetics. Hehehe 😹
That's true!! 👏
Damn! I didn't even think about this.
#riptanya 🥺 I thought the finale was great, I love the depth of the ending with cam/Ethan/Harper/daphne, and the derp death of Tanya that no one really predicted, and jacks evident inner conflict ultimately showing mercy to Portia, Albie getting played like the idiot he is and just so many other things, this was a great season ending and those who don’t appreciate it probably had most of the themes and nuances of the show and characters go over their head. This season and the actors in it will win awards for it.
My predictions for next season will be a mix of new and old characters. I think jack and the other guys can team up with the mafia or whoever Nicolo worked with to go after Greg, who will be on vacation with his mistress with Tanya’s money that is owed to them as well. And remember when daphne made a comment about the scuba diving and spouses taking the oxygen off their wife/husband and killing them. And then at the end of the season they talk about going to the Maldives and less pasta more scuba?? Idk just a thought. Who knows they may bring one or a few from last season to be the tying thread between the seasons like how Tanya was. Also, what if there were stipulations or conditions in Tanya’s will that we don’t know about? All possibilities, what a great show.
You should be hired as a script writer😅
With all of the deception between all of the characters, I thought the interaction between Valentina and Mia was a nice study in consent. Everything was on the table before anything happened. Mia was honest that 1) she was not gay and 2) the night was her birthday gift. 3) she really wanted the singing job, but the night was not a manipulative quid pro quo.
Her honesty was an act of kindness because in the end, Valentina was possibly the most vulnerable character. The honest interaction helped her ultimately move to a place where she should feel empowered to seek what she truly wants.
Sure she would ask for money the next morning or blackmail her
I really enjoyed this season AND your coverage. The deaths are incidental to how this show showcases the lives of the guests and those impacted by their stay. Ethan and Harper left the WL more like Cameron and Daphne - honesty and trust will never be regained between them. Tanya came out of the bedroom like a Godfather character and went over the boat like a dope. Brilliant reflection of what a uniquely tragic character she was. The song that played translates to “oh mama I love him.” Her last question to Quentin was about Greg. That whole scheme was more complicated than it needed to be but it was all about Tanya’s journey and whether she would ever get smart. She never evolved long enough to change her life.
You had the best observation about Albie selling out his mom to his dad. Spot on character assessment.
Mia had the greatest character arc while Lucia was consistent in her long game. Too bad Lucia didn’t get more money. Would be interesting to see her go on a White Lotus vacation next season!
My initial disappointment over the lack of a wild death was reshaped when I thought of how much I fell into the show. I asked myself, without knowing people would die would I have enjoyed the show and I would’ve. My reaction to Tanya’s death was similar to yours but I feel we should have left room for an accidental death given how Armand died in S1. The relationships were wild and complex, the deaths reflected their behavior.
Well said and really appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
lol Valentina was CAKED!! Great season, always love seeing your reviews and theories and I can’t wait for season 3…
Lol yea that surprised me haha. Ok Valentina
Ok so for all the 'come on Tanua and Portia, put it together' crew: What i believe the White Lotus delivers that a lot of other shows do not - is how people more realisticly react and behave, not most film characters or evn tv characters, but real people. Most of us can have great, fun, odd, and mysterious encounters with people... But when thinga feel off i am very confident that most of us dont jump to 'the Mafia has been hired to wack me'.
Also theu characters have not bad a week between days to reflect on actions and behaviours that we have seen, and havent had anything to do with.
Also, when you are a young woman trapped/stuck with a man, its very very scary. Portias reactions and behaviour seemed very realistic and actually self preserving, not dumb. If a man traps you, ANY, ANY resistance can escalate a possiblely dangerous situation VERY FAST.
And we dont think with our best minds when experiencing confusion, shock, disorientation, adrenaline and disregulation. Let alone all the elicit substances and the hangover and cone down from.
All that to say - IF Tanya and Portia perfectly worked it out, defended themselves, evaded everything... I would assume they were Hitmen (Hitwomen, Hit persons) themselves.
Loved watching with you this season
Woman niave Portia should have left him when he passed out in bed bed she did not press him to go back to hotel and I would have grabbed car keys and driven off
I agree! I was in a bad situation abroad before where I was drugged. It's a bit different if you're drugged because you have to assume there's a very tight time constraint until you are unconious (or at least too impaired) but the best chance of getting out of the situation unfortunately is usually to go along with things until you can find help, in order to make sure the situation doesn't escalate. Having said that when they were in the busy plaza Portia probably should've taken his phone, walked away and gotten an uber. As someone who travels abroad a lot there are always taxi apps these days and Italy is no exception. She could've easily then left the phone at the hotel and say she found it somewhere if she felt guilty/felt like she was ovvereacting. Then she could've checked into a different hotel.
Great review. I didn't catch that Cameron realized the kid wasn't his but good catch.
The entire time I was like run Portia run.
Appreciate you watching my review
A plot hole I think I've noticed in the timeline (beyond Ethan's dry shirt after his beach fight with Cameron): If I understand correctly, drowned bodies float only after the bacteria inside the body produce sufficient waste gases, which should take more than a handful of hours. I don't think Tanya's body should be floating yet.
We saw her thou, her pinkish dress and blond hair so it was her, we saw her face too 😭😔
Awesome wrap up - truly enjoyed it!
Thank you
Happy to have discovered your channel! great segment - more thoughtful and in-depth than others which analyzed the finale! Of course I subscribed :)
Thank you and welcome to the community!
Yes I think Lucia did feel bad but she followed through with her plan anyway.
i could watch ethan and cameron fight in the ocean for 34 hours
That fight scene was awesomely choreographed...those kicks underwater 🔥🔥👏🏾
Great breakdown of this final episode. This show was awesome!
I am so happy with this show I hope they get more seasons. This was probably my favorite show to watch this year!
I didn’t make the same connection when we saw Cameron cleaning his teeth. I assumed it was simpler, he just hates being selfless and/or a parent. It makes SO much sense that her son is the trainer’s. Blue eyes, blonde hair in stark contrast to Cameron’s darker coloring. It’s Lannister/Baratheon again!
RIP Tanya
Y’all, I just finished the season and started it again 😂 you gotta watch it a second time! It’s one of those… I forgot how the season start off, it’s incredible how well they put this all together ❤
For a minute, I thought Harper, Daphne and Cameron were conspiring to kill Ethan, leaving Harper all the money, which she'd split with her co-conspirators. But I like the way their story ended. As far as Tanya goes, they could have taken care of her a lot earlier, but again, the shooting scene on the yacht was just fantastic, especially after Tanya put all the pieces together. The big winner, as you've said, is Greg. Moving forward, I'd love to see Portia, Jack and Greg return. I see potential for that storyline to continue. Great review, as always, Elliott!
I know Belinda is watching the news of Tayna with a smirk as she should
Indeed!
Man im ngl im jealous i was thinking during the livestream u probably have the coolest job on earth i know that doesnt make it easy but still
truly enjoyed this season more than the first, loved the finale more than the first season
really great show
So I’m horrible with character names but in the beginning remember when the hostess were greeting them at the dock, and she was so confused by Tanya identifying Greg as her husband and already being at the resort. I’m trying to think who could have been in plain sight that could been on person on the phone with Greg.
Oh yes maybe it is as Isabella
@@jackselle4607 or a man.
I could care less about Harper and Ethan. ! How could they kill my girl Tanya ? Next season better bring back the three three generation of chauvinists and "Nephew" 😂
Nobody in this show is good or even decent, outwardly nice or not! This highlights why we are living in a fucked up world with corruption, deception, genocide, and evil all the way from top to bottom!
And Tanya said that the only full immersive experience that she’d never had was death…..
Season 2 was on a whole different level, 10 out of 10! Favorite characters were Harper, Tanya, and Lucia! Sophie’s choice, lol! Brilliant storytelling and Mike White combined comedy, drama, thriller and horror in one show! Chefs kiss 💋
I also really like Valentina. I love that we got so much cultural flavor in this season and I hope that continues in the next location. I am trying to learn Italian and loved seeing and hearing the language and all of the soundtrack choices in Italian were so tasty and added so much.
Also Tanya says in season 1 “the one experience I’ve never had in life, is death.”
I have to disagree on MI not having growth. We can assume like Lucia he was going to be seeing her every night of his stay. After albies speech to him that he actually has to change, when he initially asked albie to put in a good word with his mom, he tells L he can't see her again and sticks to his guns. I think we could see the influence his father and son had on him the most.
Missing this show so badly- it’s only been a week !!!! 😭
New Subscriber, here from Lamont’s Channel!!
Thank you for subscribing and welcome to the community!
Cheating (and/or the thought of it) seems to strengthen the sexual passion between Cam/Daphne. Ethan/Harper learned & adopted the same habit/pattern.
We need to see Daphne and her girlfriends go on a wellness retreat next season
I need Daphne and Harper to leave their husbands after getting half their wealth and become a lesbian couple in Asia.
Does anyone feel the Greek mythology vibes from the last 2 episodes? The last 2 episodes seemed like a Greek tragedy. Modern-day Greek gods. Especially between Cameron and Ethan. Daphne and Harper are the goddesses who are married to the "gods," aka Cameron and Ethan. And dealing with the fact that they are married to powerful modern-day "gods."
Cameron, like most Greek gods, never believed in monogamy. And is attempting to remind Ethan of the old ways of the gods. Of having many partners.
Such an amazing season. The escorts really came out on top
It was far superior over season 1 because the actors/actresses were so much better. It was a terrific cast.
I felt like the scene where Ethan beats up Cameron is the first time that Ethan shows that he cares about Harper. I don't think anything happened between Cameron and Harper. There wasn't really that chemistry between them. I think Cameron would want it, but not Harper. Another topic, Greg did see that Portia was there and that was probably why Jack arrived. It became part of the plan. That's probably why he didn't want her there.
What I didn't get is why did Daphne stay at Noto place with Harper? I think it was her way of getting some kind of revenge since Harper thought she was better than them? It was weird.
These characters seem very real, but at the same time, they seem kind of tragic, flawed, and clueless, really. They seem like they are all the same person.
Mia definitely used Valentina to get the job. Women can do that to each other too (use sex for power), it's not only a male thing.
Greg is going to inherit all this money, he might be in season 3. When Quentin told Tanya about the woman on the island ending up in the water, I thought that was probably what is going to happen to Tanya.
Mia and Lucia benefitted the most here.
Great breakdown in your comments. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts and watching my video.
Dude I was so pissed lastnight at the ending I dreamt about it. Like she won and killed those fucks and I was like take your hills off Jump in the water! Ugh
Mike white did an interview and he summed it up perfectly that it’s totally Tanya. She kills all these bad guys to only die a “derpy” death.
@jackselle4607 I know I saw it and I got it but I was still like...really? What was funny to him...not to everyone else. Lol. Just expected s dead guy floating not her. I'm surprised they had her kill them all and then she's like "is Greg having an affair iar I know you know"lol
U forgot Valentina won as well.. her humor as an oblivious rude Italian being in service industry is just chef's kiss. She the total opposite of Armond in season 1. Plus the opening of season 2 and can you forget Peppa pig?! Omg! Please also Dominic di grasso for sure will win with the support of Albi but that one is open for interpretation as only hints were given.
They should create a twin sister for Tanya who is more likable than her. She should investigate the death and end up solving the whole plot.
"She doesn't miss leg day!" LOL. No sir, I'm positive she's doing legs twice a week. I looked it up and that woman is 54 years old! Good genes.
Valentina gets the best lines. 🤣
If Ethan didn't knock on hotel door when he did, Cam mightve gotten farther with Harper. Harper kept lying even after being pushed to tell truth; was she fully honest?
I honestly think she just kissed him. Like Ethan kissed Mia. Maybe Harper found out about the kiss from Ethan, who never told her. Anyway, it made him pay attention to her instead of adult videos.
@WildMarjoram Dieselpunk yeah, Ethan mightve just kissed Mia but he likely did more than kiss Daphne...if you think about, Ethan's inappropriate behavior with the hookers caused the dominoe effect for everything else.
End of the show the director or writer he said last season was money this season was sex. Idk it was sex and money lol. I still loved the show by far. Hbo has the best shows. Euphoria had me consumed
There's an interview with the writer on RUclips where he says it's questionable if Greg would get away with it, considering all the circumstances. edit - wrote that just before you mentioned it.
The star of this season for me was Daphne. Loved her in the beach scene with Ethan. Slightly disappointed with Tanya dying :(
Would love for Daphne and Cameron on Season 3.
Love your channel! More power to you.
She was phenomenal and appreciate you watching my video.
Regarding timeline Taormina is practically a mountain and a long way down from the top where the shops are to the beach. You have to get transport so I do not think it is walking distance.
Loved this season and the finale. I thought the Tanya sequence was hilarious and a fitting goodbye. MVPs are Fahy, Plaza, Impacciatore though Coolidge can win with this episode alone.
Sì❣
Fun, insightful review.
#RipTanya
but albie i think didnt knew his father had anything with Lucia. so when he said to Dominic gives the money, he didnt say that in exchange he would talk to his mom on dominics behalf, dominic is the one who asked that, and than albie says, i already did that... so to me was as if albie thought also that his father was feeling sorry and that he tried to "behave" well on that trip. Albie really didnt knew his father slept with Lucia on the first night.
Oh yes he did
i really think Albie didnt knew his father slept with Lucia, and i just watch again the season and still seems to me that abie doesnt know, and to me this is the funny aspect of the show, that all characters are in their own way so oblivious, except for Lucia, she isnt, and parte of the arc of this Di Grazzo family is that those repetitions happens unconsciously, Albie is so desperate not to be like this father and grandpa, but ironicaly he also be with Lucia, even without knowing, is part of their tragedy of this family and this cycle of repeat stuff... Albie really didnt took Lucia as a hooker in the first moment, he was surprise for real when she charged him, ans this is the irony, even without know, he repeat his fathers steps...
Even though Tanya died, she at least got revenge on those who attempt to kill her (except Greg of course). Will Portia tell police what happened or stay quiet? 🙄
I think when the police investigate the yacht, match it with the timing of Tania's drowning, suspicion could fall on who stands to benefit from her death, Greg., and he may well not get that inheritance and get implicated in the murder attempt. Portia's evidence would be the clincher of course, and the police would want to speak to her....
How can Portia just fly back home and the cops not contact her...but that would be in reality not t v
@@shelleyharris4176 Tanya's body was found the same day when all of the guests were flying back home. Tanya's phone was water damaged so it would take some time to know the connection between Tanya and Portia. Portia was the first to arrive at airport so she checked in early. She was nowhere around the beach when body was discovered. In real life in a foreign land, it mightve taken police a few days to get information needed in order to contact parties involved so it's not unrealistic that Portia wasn't contacted yet.
I’ve been the victim of crime in Italy. It takes a while to see action. It is 100% conceivable that Portia could take Jack’s advice to lay low and get on that plane. I’m not even sure Portia knew Tonya was dead-she heard that a body, not make it female, was found.
@@shelleyharris4176 I was shocked that Portia didn't call the cops on the airport. She knew something was wrong.
There will be an investigation into Tanya’s death especially given the circumstances and prenup. Also an investigation about what happened on the boat. She clearly didn’t just drown, there would be evidence of head trauma and possibly even gun powder residue on her body/clothes. I really don’t think Greg comes out on top of this.
Excellent analysis
Appreciate it
Yes, having the series filmed in Singapore would be great!
I don't know if they'll get into Tanya's death in the next season but an American woman that rich dying under such circumstances with a bunch of strangers is getting investigated. I really thought she was going to ask if Greg was gay the whole time and she just never noticed.
Eagerly anticipating S3 and which characters Mike White will bridge from S2. Any of them would actually be great.
