N+1 is a little old school. More important is X-1 where X is the number that will guarantee a divorce. Those who are married or living with their partner need to have a pretty clear understanding of the value of X.
I have 26 Bikes, not counting frames. I have about 7 frames. Many Colnagos, and in fact I have decided to just keep the Colnagos, a couple Bianchis, and sell the Specialized, Cannondales. Oh Keeping the Moser, have to keep the Moser.......
Since restarting cycling 1.5 years ago. My 20 year old Diamondback mtb. Then 4 new ones. Felt endurance and aero bikes. Then a Trek mtb and newest a Canyon cyclocross.
Like a lot of us in big towns- I have a racer and an MTB and shuffle between them based on terrain and repair schedules. The amount of $ on a new bike these days is getting more expensive. Get hold of one you like ,customize it to your needs and don't worry about competing with other people and what they buy and their distances. Above all, bike riding should be fun. If it's not that's the biggest problem to fix straight away.
2 Bikes. Specialized Tricross for winter/mucky riding fully clad with mud guards. Specialized Tarmac custom build as 'best' bike only to be ridden on dry roads!
I have 3 and will probably end up with about 5. BMX - cheap haro Road bike - Felt Z95 Hardtail/pub bike - voodoo bizango. I need a touring/CX machine and I'm tempted by a full suspension too. That'll be it then. Just replace parts and upgrade.

Got my two loyal and true bikes. Trek Domane 4.7 with some Aura 5 wheels Felt SR-91 commute road with some Bontrager Race X wheels. Then always about two more that I'm playing with and rotate in and out. So 2+(2(+/-2) bikes... Considering a full suspension, if my roadie alterego will let me.

Started bike craxzy just last nov. 2018, had 4.. an MTB, hybrid, road and bmx... decided to focus on road biking and sold off the two..now im left with the bmx and the roadbike. Difficult to go overboard with bikes as they take up waay too much space at home...so gotta stay in control.. haha
Nice feature, Dan, thanks. And it was funny when you honked out Vespa--funny but wrong. Vespas are cool and it wasn't like he said moped. That would've called for the EMBN horn.

I remember rocking up at a triathlon and the other guys were discussing whether to use their road bike or tri bike based upon the hills on the course!! It was my first triathlon so I only had the hybrid (I’d taken the rack off the back but still had the mudguards on lol)
I put MTB cassettes onto my tri bike because I don't care about fine tuning cadence and I'm a natural hill grinder... Our hills lasts for many minutes so spinning is not a good idea up then
Heather Johnson I know you're female so you are going to be biased....but cmon...I couldn't think of anything less interesting. Maybe ask them if becoming a cyclist has helped with their housework skills or hindered them from becoming the domestic queens they are meant to be!? Just my 2 cents anyway.
interesting that only one of them actually listed the bikes he has, wouldn't mind knowing which bikes the pros buy when the money is their own and their sponsors aren't involved but getting that information may prove more difficult!
I always heard how crazy I was for having 5 bikes. It's not like pro's have that many more bikes. I have a 2016 specialized diverge gravel bike, a 2017 sequoia I used for cycling from Belgium to China; a 2013 stumpjumper that is basically a snow bike with schwalbe ice spiker pro 2.25 tires, a specialized epic fully for off road fun and a 2018 specialized roubaix with ultegra DI2 and Roval CL50 disc hoops for the real long days in the saddle. I was actually thinking about buying a tarmac frame for the absolute stiffness for KOM rides. Aaargghh the N+1 conundrum...
Greipel said that he got a bike from each season but most of the other riders said that the bikes are owned by the team... so do they need do give them back at the end of the season or when they change teams? Especially when they have custom bikes like Kittels venge last year, does he own it now?
It may depend on the team and the specific rider. But I think many pro teams sell them, the riders have first option on the stuff but if not it's sold on. Ultimately, the team is a business, and these top-end bikes are worth a lot of money. The I bought some stuff years ago and years ago the discounts were incredible, the stuff was sold on at a huge discount- like I got a pair of Zipp 404s that had been raced for one season for I think €650, complete with tyres and a Dura Ace cassette. These retailed at the time for something like €2,300, just for the wheels. Perfect condition. It's more organized now and I think the discounts maybe not so high- indeed even for some well known riders they can sell the bike at a bit of a premium as a collectors item. Canyon list their ex-pro bikes directly on their website for example. www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/ever-wanted-to-get-your-hands-on-a-pro-bike-heres-how-145863
I currently have one road/CX bike and one MTB....while my dad has 9 vintage bikes(1950's-1990's) and a MTB. Il be sure to let the nerd know he has more then some pros!
I have 2. New bike and old bike. Not a pro though. Lol. I’m actually scared I messed up my old bike’s rim brakes. I turned them 180 cause they weren’t working right and now…I’m scared to ride it in case the brakes don’t work. I’m getting it looked at next month.
Interesting stuff but whoever does your captions needs to learn that < does not mean “more than”. It means exactly the opposite (“less than”). The correct symbol you’re looking for is >.
2 bikes. An old hardtail mountain bike I never use and that I bought used from a friend...and a middle of the road road bike. Both are very nice though with upgrades over the years. I could afford several, but I’m too fiscally responsible and have a family of four, a mortgage, a cat and two hamsters instead. 😃

How many bikes do you own? Let us know!
2 because N+1 equals -S
2, nearly 3, because N+1
4 : pub , road , mtb , bmx
Excuse my ignorance but why is a "pub" bike? Ignorant American here
4 - Pub, Road, MTB, CX. Perfect.
I liked how Adam named his bikes. Nice to actually visualize it.
N+1 is a little old school. More important is X-1 where X is the number that will guarantee a divorce. Those who are married or living with their partner need to have a pretty clear understanding of the value of X.
Ha!
I call it this way.
N+1
Why not call it n-1 Slim Tim. It's usually the terminology used for natural numbers. x is more "real numberish".
The solution to this conundrum is to marry an enabler.
If value D is above a certain amount of inches, you can own as many bikes as you want.
You can spot the real bike lovers (Adam Hansen!), being able to name exactly what bikes they own.
Jon Burnell agreed!
he always giving best dan honest answer...
is not that hard bro
ʊ p r e d a t o r ʊ you wouldn't have thought, but most of them could only give a ball park figure.
You do know its really easy to remember the models of the bikes that you own.
3:22 That graphic is showing less than 10
Maths are hard
It's comment bait.
Historically a weak point for the crew
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that
Same. We must be the math whizzes of the group..
I think the graphics department forgot the difference between the less than sign < and the greater than sign >
I like how they can't even pin point exactly how many bikes they got haha
Do unicycles count? With my unicycle I have half a bike.
I have 26 Bikes, not counting frames. I have about 7 frames. Many Colnagos, and in fact I have decided to just keep the Colnagos, a couple Bianchis, and sell the Specialized, Cannondales. Oh Keeping the Moser, have to keep the Moser.......

I'm guessing Dan did the graphics portion. The Maths is strong with this one.
I have 1 bike, if you don't count the 7 that I own but which aren't in my bedroom with me right now
I have 3 and will probably end up with about 5.

U are right it reads less then ten.
I am glad this was pointed out.
Haha yes you are right
I own 3 . A redline MX24 for racing . A redline PL26 for cruising and a great hybrid , the Raleigh redux 3. Luv em all . Will probably get more lol .
"" :-P
I own >5
Yeah, i noticed that as well
The fish always eats the bigger number.

n = number of bikes
more than 10: n > 10

Now, how many bikes do the GCN presenters own? Hmm...
Benjamin Ditman good question
I think we need a tour of each, and all, of their garages. That's 1/2 dozen more videos at least
Jon has around 15. he said theyll gonna make a warehouse tour of Jon's bikes as i remember.
Those garage tours need to happen! Love the idea! #torqueback
probably 3-6 each.

I've been cycling for three years and own six bikes. Three road, two FS MB's, and one rigid MB.
It’s time to see a personal bike showcase from all the gcn crew!!
I've got 15, everything from road, tt, fixies, Moulton, Brompton, mini velos and a recumbent
Nice feature, Dan, thanks. And it was funny when you honked out Vespa--funny but wrong. Vespas are cool and it wasn't like he said moped. That would've called for the EMBN horn.

1 aero road bike
1 endurance road bike
1 rigid mtb
1 FS mtb
1 childhood mtb
+1 my son's
+3 my wife's
JD Pinilla
Nice
step your game up! i have atleast that many myself lol
Chris Witek
Nice 👍
Tell me u only have 1 wife
He did observe the N+1 rule, but forgot about the X-1 rule. X is the divorce threshold. It's N+3+1 now for him. ;-)
Road bike
Track bike
TT bike
Single speed bike
Gravel bike (at the in-laws so I can go for a ride instead of speak to them!)
MTB/Pub bike (but I left that locked up at my old job and have since move to the other side of the country, so not sure it still counts)
Wife's bike
Daughter's bike
Do the last two still count?
Now I don't feel very bad buying more bikes. ;)
Lawson Craddock is such a cool dude. He came to Louisville last year and rode with all of us juniors. Made us feel like pros lol.
this is hilarious! I love their responses -- mostly exhales, followed by, uhhh, i'm not sure -- lol
😂😂😂 i love how Marcel Kittel is answering 😂 Mhmm, Mhmm.. 😂

Someone needs to learn what symbol should be used for greater than 10
Can the next edition ask the female pros? Would be interesting to compare.
Tom Walters you're too old to be "edgy" its just ugly
Tom Walters 😂😂😂 sad
I have two myself ,cheap ones. some of my friends own at least two and spend over 10,000$ each on their bikes.. crazzzzzyyyy
Can you guys do some tech for continental team too????
Will be very interesting how to continental team compared to The world Pro teams.
Apologies if repeated, but how many bikes do the GCN team own/have??
At the moment, 2. But I foresee a nice new Canyon in my future. Haha! *Checks cushions for change*
I own Scott MTB, Specialized road and BMC commuter. Wish I have space for Canyon fat bike. Maybe someday. No car tho.:)
I have my posh road bike, and a singlespeed for commuting and shopping purposes. that's 3 in total.
interesting that only one of them actually listed the bikes he has, wouldn't mind knowing which bikes the pros buy when the money is their own and their sponsors aren't involved but getting that information may prove more difficult!

I currently have one road/CX bike and one MTB....while my dad has 9 vintage bikes(1950's-1990's) and a MTB. Il be sure to let the nerd know he has more then some pros!
I like how the new aero cannondale is on the cover picture.
What a burn from Dan on Andre Greipel! “That must be lot of bikes,” after Greipel says he has one for each year he was a pro.
Svein Tuft is the coolest human being ever to have graced a bike
One only needs 3. Gravel, road, 29er hardtail. Don't understand cross bikes.
I own 4 (road, downhill, trail and urban commuter) and my roommate owns another 6.
You should ask to Pippo Pozzato. I read he buy bikes from retired prof who he liked. I think he has almost 100...
I have 2. New bike and old bike. Not a pro though. Lol.
I’m actually scared I messed up my old bike’s rim brakes. I turned them 180 cause they weren’t working right and now…I’m scared to ride it in case the brakes don’t work. I’m getting it looked at next month.
I have 4 bikes. E-bike/downhill, homemade, bmx, road bike
More video like this, please!
Colnago, Bianchi and a nice retro Ferremi.
I seriously own 19 bikes.
4 mountain, 1 3speed , 14 road bikes
How many pomade bottle do you have bro !? LOL, very inspired with your -always ready- hair style !
I own 2 bikes. but my too buy list is about one bike per mile of the TDF.
i own 4 bikes, 1 bmx bike, 2 full suspension mtb and one hardtail mtb there are something like 12 bikes in my garage but the rest arent mine
I have 11 at home but they belong to my family as well. I have 3 myself. 1 mountain 1 road 1bmx
I see the plan is to soften the blow when Jon's garage tour revels he owns more than all of these guys combined
dan - alex how many bikes got left when you where robbed. alex - bursts into tears
Sean O'sullivan a bit paranoical this alex
I didn't know he got robbed :(
unfortunately, Sean is right. Alex's house got robbed right around the time this video was shot
The GCN curse strikes again.
The second show should be based on “if you only can keep 1xke which would they keep”?
Hahaha, Adam Hansen. It's a GT... it's very old... it's from 1999.
M+1 LOL last summer l had 7 l think ,gave away 3 to happy new riders :) ... but looking at others to add like a TT or fixie
Do they get to keep the bikes after each year or do they have to buy them if they want them?
BT pump bike, would love to see that
Interesting uses of ""...
you were getting your greater than > and less than signs < mixed up haha!
Nice to Adam Hansen stimming :D

I am pretty sure I can guess the answer but what is a "pub" bike. I assume it is what in America we call a "cruiser" or "beach" bike. So . . .
Sawdust Caesar basically a cheap bike you don't mind if it's stolen
That was great I bought 2 of Ben Kings used pro bikes-
Small mathematics lesson. The symbol ">" means "more than" whilst the symbol "
I own 8 bike's...... good video 👍 Pat from Belgium 🚲
3:21 "more than 10" --> "
more interested on how many bike which were not sponsored/bought themselves after turning pro
you guys ever gonna go 4K quality?
So if teams don't just give their riders the bikes they used at the end of the season, what do they do with them?

Lawson Craddock. Kid is strong!
I have 2 and both are folding bikes
Dan are you okay, you look a little more lean in the scene before the video ends?
Trek madone, colnago somethin’, puma somethin’, bianchi, 3 pub bikes, cannondale, and a author
3:22 'more than 10', the greater than sign is wrong, should be >10
cool one!
