A Dodge Charger Police Cruiser Gets Performance Upgrades For Maximum Speed - Horsepower S13, E7

- A hotrod cop car? Yep! We help our local Sheriff's Department with one of their Dodge Chargers. With performance upgrades, we'll perform dyno before/after tests, and the deputy/driver will perform his own high-speed, seat-of-the-pants test.

I'm ok with this. If we can build faster cars, they can build faster cruisers. Makes the chase more interesting...
@jesse arias I live in a small town in Kentucky and they have one 6.4L SRT Durango. The rest are the pursuit durangos.
@jesse arias in Hawaii you use your personal car
i like it, as long as the tax payer didnt buy it.
@@breachoft.o.s6881 Fr tho
@@SebastienGaming over here in North Carolina they using undercover mustangs with a. 5.0 and a 8 speed
This would be the car to look for at the police auction😀
I was just thinking that
Just make sure it wasn't abused too much, you don't want to end up rebuilding one. Should be fine anyways
@@alexisguerrero3105 it wasn't because chargers can't handle to much abuse, like the Crown Victoria does.
Hell yeah give it a body wrap
You want the eagle head engine.
Imagine being pulled over and seeing proformance brand stickers on said cop car
Looks like the Duke boys are in for a heap of trouble.
Them got dang Duke Boyz 😠
😂👍🏽
Lol please even a factory 69 charger had more power around 425 hp the only thing that police charger has on it is breaking and handling
Jesus loves you all. You could have eternal life through him.
I can tell you are at least 50
I would gap the shit out of Bryan 😂😂 man gained like 8hp
I'm screaming!!!!!!
gapple bees
🤣
Hahaha
27hp but still
I just love the teenager bolt on setup. Its enough to push from 270 over 300hp and put a huge smile on the officers face!
Seriously, let the calippers hang that way ? Very professional !
Right?!!
I was looking for this comment😂how they let it hang bothered me a lot
Guess they dont give a shit about brakes
I was also looking for anyone else who may have noticed before commenting on it. I cringed when I saw that!
Never let a chebby guy work on your mopar first off .
Wait. Am I dreaming? A mopar on this channel?
So a cop can test his new car out on the highway lol I mean most of us been doing it for years but still
yeah im getting a hell cat thanks for letting me know
naw i wont figure it out cause im blasting
with the hell cat lol
@@steen8946 they ain’t catching you with a hellcat💯😂
Got that 40 series exhaust set up and those EBC rotors on mine. Actually haven't changed them out in over 2 years. VERY durable. Love em

🤣🤣🤣

i call BS on this. a cop car with a modified exhaust and your going to pull over people for noise violations with a modified exhaust ROFL.
Unless they are in a county and/or state where they aren’t nearly as strict on things like that.
It's not that loud and there is hardly any drone.
I love the sounds of the crown victorias but man that charger sounds amazing
Man I shouldn’t have gotten rid of my 2010 Police Charger. That thing was sick. That first-gen of the reboot just looked fantastic in uniform.
Bro I’m dead that guy in the car isn’t wearing a seatbelt
In sum states police just dont give a fuck about seatbelts like here in PA
Real life need for speed video game, those crown vics could keep up with a nitrous corvette at 185 😂
I thought they had the v6 for better fuel economy. Learned something new
Shit. ... Governments don't care it's not their $$$$ 😉
@@bilbobaggins4710 I looked it up afterwards. The majority of them are v6 but a few are v8. I don't remember the source of the info. I just googled which engine does police cars have.
Many departments and cities do buy v6 because they never really leave the city and gas mileage
@@Silentjustin06 Mostly state agencies use the hemi. Fhp only runs hemis.
Depends on the department and their needs. Most highway pursuit vehicles will run the more powerful v8s and the city cars will run the v6. Really comes down to what the department wants.
LETS TALK ABOUT HOW HE LET THE CALIPER HANG ON THE BRAKE LINE? LMFAO asking for a bubble worrying about rice dust! (5:19)
Okay joe WTF you serious believe that spacers adding hp?
I had a guy at autozone swear up and down that it made his magnum like a rocket 😂
I lost 10hp
Ikr ? I was surprised to see that BS on here 😆
Slap an m1 intake on that and start making real power
That sounds beautiful!
I'd take the NGK lasers over the E3 any day
From 6:32 until 7:07 has to be the biggest sponsorship money grab I’ve ever seen in an auto show.
E3 Spark Plugs and a swirly boy throttle body spacer.
And it actually decreased plenum and minimum throttle body size (it’s smaller than the damn throttle plate.)
That's what I was thinking, aren't spacers for carbs and TBI injection only?
@@Mdudeman13 no, it does add a few cc’s of added air to the intake manifold.
And that does something. It’s Marginal. But it does do something.
However theirs had a smaller opening than the throttle does. Becoming the new flow restriction.
And it also fit into the manifold taking up plenum volume, not adding it.
Now Hurting air flow in 2 ways. With one simple “Mod.”
It's a vortex affect. It spins the air making it flow smoother with less turbulence. Why do you think you're supposed to put a spin on a football, baseball, and basketball (rotation), better flow. And WTF is wrong with sponsors? You think everything should be free? Biden boy.
Somehow the numbers don't match up. 18 for the intake, 8 for the plugs, headers and tune and the car only gained a bit over 30hp. I know they're not going for max hp but those numbers suck. If you go to the tuner's site the tune alone on a bone stock 5.7 Charger will net more than the mods they installed.
Thanks for supporting law enforcement! I can tell you my patrol unit has been left in the dust by today’s faster cars, not a good feeling
Wow! I remember watching this episode years ago!
i was gonna say this seems very outdated by todays standards
I love that you guys are standing behind the law.
They have enough muscle between their ears
The new chargers are really fast. Where I live the explorers are going around 130mph pretty quickly too. Imagine what the charger units are doing😳Chargers are faster then you think. It’s fair though that they get upgrades. People upgrade their car so why not police too? Wouldn’t be surprised if one day they’ll have turbo’d or supercharged police cars.
The brakes pulled the breath out of Brian.
Nice upgrade!
i shit myself everytime i see a durango roll up behind me. i cant imagine if they had a 6.4
The SRTs do
@2:14 trying to outrun the police with a FWD 2006 impala (V6) is NEVER a good idea.
I have the Order Checklist from Dodge for the 2022 Police Special Services Charger Pursuit. Some of the interesting options include Surveillance Package with 6 Rear Seat Cameras and Microphone Recorder, 9 point Harness, Smoke Detector, Console Donut Fryer and Glazing Dispenser, and Drivers Seat Butt Cheek Vibrator and Power Anal Stimulator. The Police Cars sold in San Francisco come standard with the Power Seat Options.
Man i got ripped off on my former Anaheim pursuit charger 😂
i have this a police package charger and now i know what i can expect when doing these mods nice
Go long tubes if you can.
May as well be screaming “ hey I’m a fuckin loser”
The one time you decide to run from the wrong cruiser😂😂
You can still leave it with ease
When someone buys it at surplus auction there gonna gave a good suprise
He's on 840. I'm on it weekly. I regularly haul this much ass while on it. Williamson County is pretty LAX on ticketing in the area; however, watch for THP lol.
Imagine if cops modded their cars👹 I saw a hemi cop charger take off, and I was like damn, imagine if it had an exhaust
bruh I go thru Williamson county all the time they don’t even use those anymore
Wow 340? That’s definitely a throwback
Crown vic's did the job for many years
Barely and they struggled. They won’t keep up with a newer charger, Camaro, etc
@@THEEVERYTHINGTHINGCHANNEL im a mopar guy but that crown vic definitely is one of the most reliable vehicles out there. Not to mention they had a really good amount of space which is why most departments are going to suvs. They were great vehicles.
@@AverageOhioEquinoxit won’t change the fact that Vic’s are a pos and out dated.
Why you let the caliper hang?
Great it’s as fast as my girlfriends Toyota Camry now
Also the oe box sucks air from outside the vehicle while Ideling. Sitting idleling that filter will suck in hot Engine bay heat
This is gold
Did John Bunnell write this episode?
Could have just bought a hellcat like a bunch of other departments . Shoot Alabama state troopers have hellcats and I’ve seen a couple supercharged 5.0s

@@marcuswright4592 so our money goes into ? That’s stupied at least better then giving it to people who live off of unemployment cause they don’t want to get a job
I ain’t never seen a hellcat police car in my life. It’s smart cause it’s stock but expensive. I haven’t seen any departments do that yet. I’m sure in the near feature but no way not now.
@@bobthealpha67 ay if my money goes into a police car thats a hellcat I could care less. Shoot I rather have my money go to that. If I pay to see a hellcat decked out with police stuff and see it rip by me then I’m a happy man.
Wish they hit the dyno after each upgrade see we can know if each part is worth it.
My hometown bubba
The Mustang they show is a 3v car but the engine they showed was a 2v 🤔
I actually got a newer 2016 police dodge charger it had a super charger and headers and a exhaust that has a switch to where you can open it to make it louder or make it quiet. Had brembo brakes and nice racing coil overs rear sway bar it was basically a road racing police car it handles so nice its low and make 560 hp to rear wheels. Helix bore spacers that make the air spin makes no difference I promise I tested 5 different ones on the cop car j got on dyni just to see and from a regular flat one with no grooves to spin the air made more power 4 more hp then the Helix spacers to make the air spin they didn't do much to make that police car much faster it was just a gimic thing for exposure for the police department and the show to look like they doing something nice for cops. I got a v6 camaro that will out run that charger making 390 hp with super charger in my 15 rs. And to be honest putting cams and push rods and building up a modern v8 dual over head can car is simple to change cams and valve springs and pistons and rods and whole top end kit is easy to do and super charger is easy as well then when done row it to a tune shop and your good to go costs money but not hard as it seems
What kind of supercharger?
@@stephenlane7951 Assuming he has the 5.7, possibly a big one if it goes from 370hp to 560hp

Oh and if you get a new battery charger it's hard to get one that will recharge a dead battery they got safety features in them now to get around that I just went abs got a big shumake charger the stand up ones from a battery store and they are 150 bucks but they are the best I use emm for the racecar that has no alternator to charge at the track
"Who says a man with a badge can't have a little bling?"
Taxpayer: "We do. The optics, my man."
My thoughts exactly. The guy writing the check is the guy who says the badge can't have bling.
Some hellcat redeyes would be perfect replacements
Nope
@@markelraya10 I agree now
@@escalatorcancer1278 js they would never be given hellcats or demons. Try to go on a police chase with a quarter of a mile in a police “hellcat”. They would be out of gas, plus they have a extra 1000 pound of gear… be real bro.
A pro-tune would put much more whp down than that.
🤘😆🎸 duh da dada daah
3:00 why would you have your head that close to a cars tire doing a dyno run dude lol. If that thing blows you will be covered in lacerations
you lost me at throttle body spacer.... those make great paper weights
My agency would have wrote me up 20x over for going 115 🙄
Only small town departments!
Sick ,lol see you later hot rod .
You're not catching me with power numbers that start with 3
They should have Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody's for cops to keep up with today's cars and ditch the Geezer Glide Harley's for the Kawasaki Ninja H2 for police motorcycles.
I have a 2006 RT Charger with a DiabloSport tune and Flowmaster exhaust and a cold air intake my numbers are 385 and 435 🤔
At the wheel ?
So if I upgrade my car's performance I can take it out on a public highway and run 115 then accelerate? This *deputy* should have taken the car to a track designed for speed and not in public. I doubt if I were running my Corvette on the highway at 115 the deputy would have accepted the excuse, "I just had my car tuned and dyno'd as a legitimate excuse.
Smh
Where are the catalytic converters?
Something seems off with this video. The Charger R/T that generation was rated anywhere between 340 and 370HP, and 390-5tq. With a 20% loss, that's 296HP and 316tq. This Charger was either highly overrated in Power numbers, or this one was definitely not well taken care of and had performance loss. Even after modifications it still wasn't making expected power- it only made what the numbers should've been stock! This charger had 25-35% less power.
Police cars get beat and abused on a daily I'm not surprised it was so low
GOOD STUFF TOO BAD MY 392 HAS OVER 100 HORSEPOWER OVER THAT SO EVEN THAT V8 HAS NO CHANCE OF CATCHING ME 😂😂😂
@jimmy johns You can have all the radios you want but you still need a fast car to catch me lmfao
You should convert the pursuit charger into a regular hemi charger
It’s the same motor. Just the cop car has a bigger alternator, oil cooler, either runs on 4 or 6 cylinders while cruising then all 8 when WOT. Also has the column shifter, lights and etc. ohh the battery is in the trunk
@@thatonecrazydudeyaknow285 also can you help me find a forum or video of doing a column to floor shifter conversion
Im turning my 14 pursuit into a scat pack with a oem bge 6.4 swapping out the 99k mile 5.7😂
@@Alex_thelionTV im not converting mine probably, i am doing paddle shifters.
The swap is stupid easy, get yourself a complete console (console, shifter and any linkages it needs from transmission up), and colour match the wires up and you have a console shifting pursuit
I bet those crown Victoria's are still running on the street and that charger is in a junk yard.
Nice to know you guys support law enforcement.
Screw "Law Enforcement" 😠
How about you do some work on a paper carrier, or an uber drivers car, who follows the law but still gets harassed at work? My 96 cvpi had kill switches for the running lights, modded factory quick change calipers because it ate brake pads, among "other small mods" that i made sure fit under the factory engine cover or looked "stock". Smooth is fast, know your roads, always plan a route.
Should have slammed it on tarmacs and daily it
So cops can have emission illegal tunes? But we can't HMMM?
I'm thinking of gas mileage however
Drop a hellcat in 1
Never will help a cop out with his car
Criminals are the only ones that hate cops
U cant even pass a pt test how can u drive and you cant even turn around ..and even when u get to them.. hell all they got to do is run slowly away..

This was recorded 10 years ago, The Charger is probably long-gone and the newest Vics are probably sitting in the lot as disposables.
