- WATCH BEFORE YOU BUY!! In this video i give you the full run down/ pros and cons of buying and owning a dodge charger from police package from the 2006 to 2018 model years
from 3.5 V6 to 5.7 Hemi V8 - Авто/Мото
I dont think you understand that 2011 to 2014 was a separate generation model from the 2015s and up
Mushtaq Samim Thank you, I searched way too long for this comment.
Agreed. I'm on my Second 2011 hemi police package. Fast and dependable. Less than 10 grand.
Can't beat a coyote mustang or ss Camaro but anything less is dominated.
Dopeless Hopefiend so they are dependable ? I’m looking to buy one what happened to the first you had
Yep 5 speed trans to 8 speed
FALSE.
LX - 2006 through 2010
LD - 2011 through 2020
The LD was restyled in 2015
Police cars are hit and miss. A friend of mine bought one years ago, nothing but drama, I buy one a year later, absolute dream.
They've all been thrashed, so buying one really is like rolling the dice.
7s29 I’m looking to buy a 2014 v8. Any advice you guys can give me
@@shwagksj147 Try to find an unmarked or supervisors car, I bought the sheriff's personal unmarked, hemi awd !! Goes like a scalded ass ape and gets over 20 in the city!!
Shwagks J find a low mile one
@@jeffiecapello mine was a detectives. Personal department vehicle but maintained with the fleet. He was the only driver until me
@@shwagksj147 I got a 2014 v8 engine and am gonna need to replace the whole engine.
I have a 2016 V6. Very quick and durable. The extra cooling systems keep it that way . My husband is a mechanic, so he new what to look at. Always check the underbody pinch rails and integrated sub frame. A lot of these cars have stress damage. They are unibody after all. Wich is why they go to auction at half the mileage of a equivalent crown vic.
I bought one 2008 and I work very well after one year I bought another one for my daughter 2010 and she still uses it, with some minor repairs and services on time the car works excellent. you'll never will see a dodge charger on the side of the road, unless it's a cop hehe!
own two crown vics 08 and 10 .. absolutely love them. one has 9000 idling hours and 150,000 miles and the other 6000 idling hours and 155,000 miles no issues so far. Basically a light duty truck with a car body.. chargers are faster though....thank you for the content!
Not the v6 witch most of them are
@unknown user lol ok
I got a 2007 dodge charger pursuit pv.
X state trooper car.
179k on it now have it over a year.
Car is fast and handles 👍.
I love it .
To bad they don't put the 392 in one yet or the 6.1 liter 😁😁 in the old generation
realiability?
watch before you buy 0:00 🤔charger does Donuts thank you that's all I needed to see I'm sold
2006 - 2010 had the worst suspension issues.
2006 - 2008 5.7 hp was 345
2009 - 2015 5.7 hp was 370
2016+ 5.7 hp was 363.
All engine and suspension problems were permanently cured by March of 2016, when Dodge instituted a number of extreme durability changes.
The A580 transmission has been absolutely bulletproof in these cars, which is why they still use it after the retail cars went to 8-spd autos. The *only* problem they had was a fill tube o-ring failure in 2007, which resulted in a TSB. That's it.
@@jerryjefferson9933 the retail cars use either the 845 or 850RE in V6 models, and the 8HP90 or 95 in V8 models. The A580 5-spd became fleet - only in 2015.
As far as durability, the A580 was used behind all V8 engines from 2005 - 2014. The 8HP-90 is currently behind the 5.7 and 6.4 engines, and the 8HP95 is behind the Hellcats, including Demon. It is also used in the new Durango V8 Pursuit, so I think we can expect to see the V8 Charger Pursuit get that transmission in 2020.
@@pkranz937 The 8HP90 was only in the Hellcats and the Challenger Demon. The 5.7 and 6.4L had 8HP70.
Bought a blue and black 07 dodge charger 3.5l over 2 years ago. It has 158,000 miles and has been awesome. No engine or transmission problems what so ever.
Minimum Potential I believe the it’s the nags trans . I have the same year and model . 144k on it and it runs fantastic
Same mines is doing fine, even the coolant was clean when I got it. It's on my IG page.
How much did you paid for it?
What’s the point of buying a V6?
Own an 5.7l hemi 08 charger police car, love it..
Imodium 98 I got me one too!!! 2008 5.7 police👌🏾nice!!
Buddha 162 I’m thinking of buying one, but I’m scared that the engine would’ve been pushed really hard and need repairs
I got a 07 5.7
Luv it
I got a 6.4
Pretty good. The suspension and steering issues are not just found on the Charger. If you go back Dodge has had periodic issues with suspension, and steering since the 80's an pretty much all their models, particularly their trucks.
They also came in special allwheel drive packages with the Hemi. For the more snowy states. Now that with a supercharger woot
I just bought a 2012 for 2500 with 5.7 an best buy I've had in long time love it fun reliable drive
Sounds like a steal. Lmk if they got more
I got a 2006 Dodge Charger rt 5.7 hemi with a straight pipe even the police can’t keep up 😂😂
I mean u say it like that's good but it's also funny. That's how the r33 got banned from the US.(IDK if it's r33 lol)
Tahoe PPV, FPIU, CVPI, Caprice PPV, Impala 9C1, that's as much as I can think of at the moment lol. Great video on the Charger.
Chevy caprice ppv with the v8 just got one at auction for 3k, damn thing is fun and the engine is pretty simple to fix
I have a ‘13 5.7 AWD absolutely love it haven’t had really any issues but i am about to put a new front suspension on it, other than that it’s great
Thanks for all you do!
“Whether you wanna scare the living shit out of people” LMAO
Well imagine that charger come to a car meet and say go away slow honda cuz imma get ya
I mean, I wouldnt exactly say the A580 is made of glass...they're rated for 600nftpd torque. Also, second gen hemis had 370hp. Not 350. The first gen ones were known for having "one horsepower per cubic inch" 9.5:1 compression. The 2011 and up ones, had 10.5:1 at 370 hp with the A580 five speed transmission.
Brother I own two convicts down I've been watching all your videos. I'm really sorry for not subscribing until now I hadn't realized it thanks for the info. Thanks again chief
thanks for info-helpful
So i just got the 2011, what should i really pay attention on, so as to make it last, care tip and all... is it a good investment
I found the perfect Dodge Charger Pursuit in my area, ex State Trooper vehicle, still has the paint job and the searchlight on the side, only thing missing is the Setina push bar.
the 2006-2010 have the NAG-1 transmission and youre saying its made out of glass?
Cops say if you are driving a Dodge and see a pothole the front end will go out of alignment but you could hit a curb in a Vic at 40mph and keep on going.
I've heard the transmissions are garbage in them doesn't matter the model year. Good video none the less. Thanks for the info!
Not true dont listen to everybody. I got mind new and got 200,000 miles on it. And did alot of towing. Never had any problem. Just regular maintenance and gass.
I have a 08 cop car. So far so good
Mine is a 5.7L Non-Hemi Pursuit vehicle. It still is super fast and good, lol.
What option can be unlocked using the OBD tool? You mentioned Hellcat, so does that mean higher horse power?
The Crown Vics were dogs. No power at all. Plenty of room though. My favorite was the rear wheel drive Impalas/Caprice with the 260 hp LtI motors. Plenty of of power and lots of room for all your gear.
Loved the old Caprices. But I've heard from many of my former coworkers the Dodge Charger is fast but they all seem to have upper head issues, transmission problems you name it.
I know seen school bus on in a high p pursue get a way true story
But the chevys were chip limited to 138, the hemi chargers are 188 for 2014
@@jeffiecapello That's false. I rode out with a buddy of mine with the Ft Worth police dep't back in 96. He had just got a brand new 1996 Caprice with the LT-1. We took it out on the hwy and got it up to 144 mph with power to spare. they were limited to 160 mph. The Chargers are not able to reach 188 mph. The Hemi Charger was limited to either 150 or 160 mph
@@jrftworth fastest LT1 was the '94 at 141 mph (Michigan tests). The V8 Charger Pursuits from 2011+ are governed to 152 mph with the OEM rubber. The V6 is at 141 mph. CHP did have Chrysler test an '06 V8 and a 2013 with the limiters removed. The '06 was good for 165 mph, and the '13 managed 176 mph (both at Chrysler Chelsea, MI proving grounds). Much too fast for public roadways.
In fact, a few years after the V8 Dodge reappeared, Chrysler Fleet had an article in one off the LEO periodicals that stated the agencies replying to a query from the Chrysler Police Advisory Board indicated that agencies using the V8 Dodge were averaging a 95% collar rating in pursuits. The last results I'm aware of were from 2016, and confirm the success of the Charger Pursuit program - with the additional abilities of the AWD Pursuit, the average collar rating notched up to almost 97%. The next highest numbers were 89% for the Exploder and 93% for both the Taurus and Caprice (the Exploder has lower top speed, and I suspect the Taurus and Caprice suffered from more understeer).
I have transmission problems. As well as problems starting up. I replaced the starter motor and the battery, and relay . Still start up problems. It's a love hate relationship, I love the car . But hate dealing with the crap it gives me sometimes.
I’ll stick with my dream of a 2010 blue p71
It's a shame that they put great engines but then decide to borrow some Mercedes Benz piece of garbage and use it as a "transmission"
Same trans is behind a 6.0l V12 BiTurbo cranking 604hp and 738 FT/LBS. Chrysler liked to put their own spin on things taken from the Daimler Chrysler merger.
@@brjha It's a ZF 5-spd, now made exclusively by Chrysler
negative, go compare/contrast the NAG1 aka W5A580 aka Mercedes 5-GTronic gear ratios with the ones you see here under "transmission":
www.fcausfleet.com/content/dam/fca-fleet/na/fleet/en_us/dodge/2018/charger-pursuit/vlp/specs/2018DG_Charger_Pursuit_SPh140fs4cmn5j8603nd91u39r8.pdf
The charger pursuit has always used the Mercedes transmission in any/every variation since inception.
@@brjha it's not a Mercedes transmission. Mercedes built their product under license from ZF. ZF has since sold the license and also the development rights to FCA in 2010, as FCA was the only user of the assembly by then. Chrysler makes them in the Kokomo transmission facility. The Charger Pursuit is now the only vehicle using the A580.
All mercedes automatic transmissions are made in-house.... I would like to see proof.
i have an 06. thing was pristine. well taken care of. belonged to the chief. not run or riven hard. mostly a town car... no trans issues... but I can definitely confirm electrical issues out the ass..
I got a Dodge Charger 2010 police v8 5.7 Hemi. When I got it, it had 77.000 miles on the dash, now it has 111.538 with no issues to report.
The good: Extremely good power ratio, with police configuration, meaning no speed limiter. Scaring people always gives me a kick.
The bad: This is a service vehicle. The past owners treated the car like shit. I found food envelopes to all sort of things when I got mine. The suspension was torn to shreds, I had to rebuild my entire front and rear suspension with shocks, pads, rotors, tie rod ends, control arms, flushed all fluids, new radiator, new hoses, tune up. It was roughly 2k on expenses doing all the work myself. Plus get 4 brand new all season tires.
If you are not willing to keep with the maintenance, do not get one. I pay 5k for mine.
Dam mines was a bit better than that, I got the 07 5.7, the suspension was tight as ever, it was full on gas, coolant was clean, but I still flushed the fluids for the most part. I got it at 89k, For around 2.9k. No engine light. No nothing. There was a bolt out of the sway bar bushing, I caught that before I even took it for it's first ride. My IG is bossreturns, but dam I feel bad you had all that suspension work to do
I would manual swap it if I buy a Dodge Charger when the automatic transmission goes out.
5.7l Hemi has plenty of power, just not a very good engine as far as reliability. The 08 and down can drop valve seats and destroy the engine. The 09+ wear out camshafts and the roller part of the lifter gets sloppy causing noise. Heads have to come off to mess with the lifters.
"sugar cookies and butt plugs" haha, you crack me up Mr Random. Keep up the great work!
Love to see an awd model with a hellcat motor swapped into it
Is there a video like this reviewing the Holden Commodore/American Chevy Caprice PPV?
Really looking at this nice police package 2009 dodge, with 70,000 miles but when u said it has a glass transmission... that is what makes me so nervous lol...
Chicago Motors Inc has 2012-2016 chargers for $8500-15000
Hey, I found one for $600 , 3.5 , 2009 model...
Will it be okay to buy this ?
Bought my 2012 from there 2 years ago and I love it👌🏽
@@rosjja did you get it?
Please make one for the Tahoe Police package.
And the Durango
GM Made the VEGA POLICE PACKAGE but it rusted away
Not free hellcat etc unless you know Dodge electrical system. You have to buy the TaZer by Zautomotive for $250 for that stuff.

Does 2014 Dodge Charger Police Interceptor chip allow me to track the speeds at certain times of day?
You should update this video !!🎉 I’m trying to get a 2014 charger with 58k miles . I want to see what a you guys think about gas prices right now😂
Cool video man. I own a Crown Victoria P71 it's a tank
Looking at a 2013 with 5.7 in it how are they with electrical and transmission?
Surprised you didn't mention the awd Hemi package
What is that tool but I need to turn my Dodge charger into a high performance?
my 2010 feels a whole lot faster than the rated 368hp - so far I've not had any issues with the car, but I also only drive it a few days per month. My P71 gets "daily driver" use.
yea the hemis are alot more durable than the V6's especially with the treatment youre giving it
We had the v6 at my old department they were 2010 not too bad just not much takeoff and burned lots of oil.
that's been my experience with higher HP V6 engines... not as powerful feeling off the line as a V8, but not so bad once you get them revving.
Im a big fan of both channels lol
2010 charger with the 5.7 truly the best car
***** My buddy just bought one of the Chevy Caprice PPV law enforcement vehicles from a auction near Nashville TN. It's got the 6.0v8 in it. I think it was an unmarked state trooper's car. It's just white.
Thank you. I want a 2015.
The suspension in the Chargers really aren't that bad. 98% of the clunking noise they have comes from Sway bar bushings. They wear really bad and get really clunky. Also the front lower control arms can get sloppy in the bushings.
Lol
You didn't say much about the 2010 model. Can someone provide pros & cons please? I'm considering purchasing one soon. Much thanks!
I got a Black Charger 3.6 pursuit edition with a fairly new motor that was immaculately maintained by the Supervisor I'm not sure if I wanna keep or sell, but I'd be happy with 8k for it IDK about the prices that were quoted on here
Pity the Torqueflite days are long gone.
Just tighten up the bands in the transmission man IAM getting old
As in the 727 Torqueflite, right?
Billions and Billions or the less heavy duty 904.
Well goonzquad bought one its one hell of car
I know there's already a charger in FH5, TC2 and NFS, but I sure want the 3 generations of the Chargers:
2010 Charger SE
2013 Charger SE
2015 Charger SXT
...in the games.
08, 5.7 Hemi, Charger, & A 09, P71 Crown Vic. I love them both for different reasons. Wouldn't sell either of them. ( An have had a couple of offers. From LEO's, of all ppl?)
What's really a shame is...Ford stopped building the Crown Vic.
If they did they will make it an i4 or v6
Powers better
Buy your charger not wrecked and able to be fully insured. Perferably lower mileage from a high budget municipality.
The Hemi is one of the best engines of all time. They are very strong and lots of power. Very smooth and extremely durable.
Cool. Make a video about Chevy Tahoe Police package.
Lol I got a 2011 hemi and I do have problems with my suspension, especially when I threw some 24s on it... but other than that it runs beautifully
CHARGER AREN'T MENT FOR THAT ITS A MUSCLE CAR🤦♂️🤣🤦♂️🤣
Lmfaoo transmission soon stinkkkk🤣😘
Don't forget that the Hemis eat cams and tappets. About 70-75K and you can expect to loose the tappets. Every one of our fleet Chargers did.
Research that I did shows that heat builds up during idle and the tappet rollers fail. And apparently it is an issue with police hemi's and hemi's in trucks involved in, now get this, oil field exploration. FCA techs say it is because of the excessive amount of time spent idling.
That problem was permanently resolved by March of 2016. The Pursuit V8's received new valvesprings, lifters, and hardened camshaft.
What do i have to watch out for on the 2007 3.5 or 3.6 liter engine police cars
Another thing to note with the 5.7 hemis is the valve seats dropping. A LOT of people have had issues with the valve seats. Police package cars seem to suffer more for some reason? That said I own an 06 Chrysler 300c with 150k and no transmission issues. I also purchased an 05 magnum rt for dirt cheap at an auction (seller wont give the title over so thats an issue currently. they are a dealer and are about to have a run in with the dealer board at this point...) It has 249k on it. Some fairly high miles for a 5.7 hemi and the NAG1 mercedes trans. Aside from worn out suspension it has tons of power and that transmission puts it down excellently. Ac still even works fantastically on it. It was taken care of for the most part aside from the suspension. Only issue I see currently with it is the alternator is failing but im not touching a thing on the car until the title situation is sorted.
The valve seat issue was fixed by late 2012.
Dillon Turner I think their bad luck cars a lot off people been in those cars
Why would ypu buy a car without a title, thats messy bud
I’ll be picking up a 2006 charger tomorrow wish me luck guys
O Flo how did it go.. if I’m lucky I might get an 2014 tomorrow from the auction
Have a problem with the heater not working to earn this not working it's not lighting up in the controls
Does anyone know how I can get a 2017 charger pursuit to have wheels that look like the thumbnail?
Can you do a video on Police Impalas? I own a 2007 3.9L 9C3 package, and love it. Good fuel efficiency with decent power. Lots of departments are phasing them out so it might be an opportunity for some people.
I have one their pretty reliable mine is a 2006 only had one wiring issue with it but other than that it runs smooth

What do you mean you Can unlock as long as you have an obd2?
Every car since 1996 has an obd2!
Kristopher Hasenbuhler he’s talking about the TaZer by Z Automotive that will help unlock codes and tunes that can bring serious HP gains especially if you use power adders and FBOs. Check it out but u gotta be good with dodge electronics though
ANYBODY HELP !!!!....SO I blew my 08 R/T charger engine but I don't know if it has modified parts still or they un modify it for resale ...like can I buy a brand new 08 R/T engine or I need one a policed packaged one ?
First, I want to thank you for the information you share. I was wanting to know if you could tell me about my 2014 Dodge Charger 5.7 police pursuit package- is my transmission made of glass? Or is my car in the year that they fixed the problem? And I don’t do burn outs because I don’t like buying tires 🛞. I’m just curious about the pros & cons of my car, because I do all the work on it myself! Thank you for your time.
Oh yeah, I liked your video & subscribed to your channel
None of the transmissions are made out of glass and I wouldn't consider this video a source of accurate information.
I’m looking at a 2012 Dodge Charger Police car with over 100,000 miles. What should I look for & is there anything that you recommend that I should fix, change, upgrade & replace?
More than. 100000? Wow, never thought police cars would last that long
Does anyone know if you can swap a 2011 police charger 5.7 motor into a 2007 5.7 magnum?
Maybe do one on the taurus interceptor one day ? They look cool. But for me , my Vic will always be my love . The chargers just don't seem to be enough car . Just my personal taste. Ooh, the explorer suv ? I heard they were kinda weak though ... but I'm no expert .
The explorers normally are slow but my area in NC has them tuned and turboed thanks to the technical career school for the high schoolers to learn how to do. The chargers are supercharged or na for the normal police and turbos for the sheriffs.
@@dekhunter148 cool.
I need a link to learn to hack the computer with obd2 to get hellcat features. I've been searching for an hour now..
I’ll just stick with my ‘04 P71. Thanks🤓
Bantamdude Rodriguez rip
04 and 03 was the most deadly and bugged crown Vic’s
Curt’s Cafe i thought it was ‘03 n older
Bantamdude Rodriguez I have an 04. 03-04 best model years and I believe it’s either first or second where it pulls in the same gear forever, I love it
I was able to purchase an '04 brand new (as my personal vehicle). In the first 15,000 miles, it puked the fuel pump, 2 right rear shocks, and the lighting control module. By 50,000 miles, the steering column pot coupler had rusted and broke, and the rear axle bearing were howling for attention.
When i traded it in with 100,000 miles on a Charger, the transmission was slipping and the pinion bearing was very upset. Fuel mileage had dropped to less than 20 mpg highway. The frame and doors were rusting.
The Charger RT was traded in for a new 2013 V8 Pursuit model (leftover dealer stock). Outside of one EVAP pump ($15) and two sets of front anti-swaybar links, the car has been perfect. In summer, it gets about 27 mpg. My only serious expense with this RWD model is swapping summer shoes for winter boots.
I’m getting a 2018 tomorrow hopefully 🙏
Im looking at this one charger its a 2016 5.7 v8 but it has 181k miles and i dont know if its gonna be giving me problems with such high miles
Could you make a video of the 5.7 Hemi 2010 police package charger?
Don't forget about the idle hours too
I just got a 2014 Hemi v8 one and boy did somebody beat on it and now I need to replace the whole engine.
Im retired L.E. Buying a decommissioned vehicle you take a huge chance because they see at least 100K miles of hard road service
Crown vic better deal imo, charger faster a cheap charger but lots of problems to expect, they cost way more to fix.
More effort goes into it to make it fast ,but no effort to make it last.
False. If that were true, nobody would buy them. Currently, over 30 state police agencies use the Charger as a primary pursuit vehicle. By March of 2019, the Charger Pursuit will be the *only* high performance police vehicle available.
Very Good
2016's hemi awd are going for 8k up here. might have to look into one of these.
where?
@@bmandell0053 ontario and quebec.

Yes way more intimidating than good ol boys on a 4x4 pickup 😂😂😂😂😂😂🌊
Try and buy a used police car from rural or lower populated areas. I can tell you for a fact in detroit they beat the piss out these chargers.
The Metamora MI police/fire department have a 2014 Charger AWD for sale by bid (minimum bid is 6500). I think I may have been in the backseat of this one with bracelets on,,,LOL.
This would be a much funner car if it had a switch to disengage the traction control
One thing I've been curious about, I've seen quite a few Chargers at auction with fire damage near the back of the engine bay near the base of the windshield... makes me wonder what the cause was.
dodge
Never seen one burned up.
I was thinking of using it for the apocalypse
thats why i go for detective models the ones with normal interior they dont get driven hard
Does anyone know about the obd2 hack to make it a hell cat or srt ??
I need to know!
How do you do it anybody know
Where's this obd2 loophole? I can't find any information about that
