A 6010 5p+ root with detailed welding instruction. A 5/32 7010 or 7P+ pipeliner rod hot pass and then a 3/16” or 5mm cap. Stay tuned because this is jammed packed full of welding tips and tricks. Thanks south coast welding academy and Weld tube for making the trip to Colorado.

Jake, lm a 65 year old fabricator that loves your videos. I wish I would’ve had training when I was 18. Thanks for the small look into you and your wife’s start. I pray you great things ahead.
Great video! “ i don’t know why , but they keep Turning all right , so I just keep doing it” I can relate these words 😂😎
Love the collaboration. And great, great arc shots
Love the weld tube collaboration keep them coming
good job...you make it look so simple and easy!!i pick up alot of tips watching you..thank you!!!
Thanks Martin really appreciate it and hope we are putting out enough content to help out.
@@JacobSchofield Do you clean the slag off after putting in the root with the 6010 rods? I know you get very little slag from them but i'm assuming your still cleaning them up? I hope you are having a good day today!!
Good work Jake! Glad to see you getting some sweet Arc shots now! That’s the part of welding that’s hard to grasp if you’re learning!
Thanks Jake. I'm not a pipe welder but I picked up a trick on this one. Long arc a little to tie in. Thanks for your dedication to quality, both welding and making videos.
I’m here to support your channel Jacob 👍👍👍
It's very useful to see the pace with which you stitch the rod and maintain that arc length. Seeing the viscosity of the puddle change and react reminds me of making a pan sauce for a steak or working a pasta dough.
I’m glad it helped you out Bill. Really means a lot and thank goodness for weldtube coming up and giving us a hand
Great video. Weld tube production really shows your skills in a much nicer way. Keep them coming.
Thank you very much for sahring your knowledge. Blessings Jacob
Yeah no problem @superclcium, glad I could help and glad to see ya on the channel.
Good to see young , dedicated hands like Jake take over for us old foggies . Blessings to you and your family young Sir !
Prob one of the best, most informative videos you have done! Thx👍
I just watched this on weld tube it was so good I think I'll watch it again
The quality of your videos continue to get better and better, keep it up man!
Nice camera work 👍! Thanks for sharing Jake.
Nice video. Keep ones like these coming. I like to see the arc shots
really enjoy watching your work Jacob, keep the good work coming and thanks especially for showing the finished product !
Best video yet👍 thank you for sharing
Real nice. Appreciate you sharing your experience.
Earning a living one weld at a time!!!! Hope you have a Great Day!!!!!!
Love the videos awesome work
Great video. We use alot of 6010 and 7018 on a stationary machine. We are fixing to start welding on a gas welder this year. Good info.🤠
That’s flipping awesome and that 6010 and 7018 is good stuff
Great video, I like how you fixed that tie in👌
Good video Jake.
Damn good welder, keep it up! Luv ur videos
I am Blessed!!!!Thanks Jacob for all that you do Brother!!I've ben Weldin fer well since 1993ish when the RigWelders I was Helpin saw somethin in me and said weld it and put my stencil on it Boy...just Make sure you don't get caught by tha Inspector cuz he will Fire all of our asses!!!!and with the Authority handed to me I welded my First pc of Underground pipe at Koch Refinery in CC,TX.. Granted it was Probably 150 Fuggin degrees outside in summertime and Dennis Wanted to go get in the AC truck...LOL!!!!true Story Brother!!
I love freaking stories like this... thankful for those older guys that made you do it.
Bad ass arc shots
Great video
Love your videos man you do some pretty welding
Nice weld great videos.
O-let. Good camera work!
I'm the Ro'll out King Bro...but 3/16th cap????dang....I Love it Jake!
Great stuff... thanks friend.... PB
Love it
God bless brother!
You are the best
Perfec 👌
On root passes only, use a small speedy cut disc, cut right down the middle of suck backs , drag rod over cut and new bead will form
Good job good luck amen
Nice rod burning......🍻
Excellent work as always. When doing fab work like these, are the rod types always specified or do you have discretion in what you use, or is it just whatever the company hands you at the time?
Hey there Jacob, always wondered where you got that Aztec welding hat
Do you work on main line too or just fab?
Where did you pick that shirt up it looks pretty slick
Hell Yeah!
nice weld,I know this downhill weld
Good vid Jake . When I used to do a lot of fab I would put in a little shorter tacks and always burn through all the tacks. The reason was I got caught with a couple of cracked tacks and then cracked welds . Just another way . If you have a technique that works well stick with it . It's to bad your weld shot of the key hole couldn't be more distinct in regards to where your weld metal ties into the parent metal but I guess the camera would be to close to the fire . I liked the way you tied into the one tack through the big key hole . a round keyhole usually means a good bead . How did you fit your olet to your flange ?
ruclips.net/video/4DwyYfzhtrA/видео.html
Get that rut in der haha
What type of welding mask is that? Never seen anything like it. Nice welds by the way
So I need to grow a belly? hah good video-
Who makes that shirt? Thanks.
🙏
Slick cap
Can you explain more about the deference between a pipeline root and a fab ? You mentioned a fab pass is heavier ?
Gabriel Cortez moving much faster with less metal on the inside of the pipe. A lot longer keyhole too.
👍👍👍👍
Whoa!!!Wait a dawg gone minute! Mr.Scofield you went from Root to cap and didn't show us how to do said Hotpass....come on bro why ya holdin back...
Can u make a tutorial on cement lined pipe. I have a test coming up
I will need to do one first. ive ever never done one.
@@JacobSchofieldI tried a few went very well. After the holidays I will take the test. Your vedios inspired my to dump my 18 Weller and go back to welding
Im going to a tech college for welding then I’m gonna go get on a pipeline somewhere. Do you have any tips for someone that’s going to be on a pipeline
Go to a trade school
Be smart with your money.
Listen to the guys that been doing it a long time show respect and they will flood your brain with knowledge witch will in turn make you better at what you do always learn ....if you ever get into a bind remember nobody helps a a$$ hole
Are you really running 160 amps? I’m not disagreeing, just asking. Thank you
What brand caps do you wear
Blue Collar Caps there awesome
It’s a beaut Clarke
National lampoons
I can see the key hole. Why is ii there? On purpose?
where can we buy that shirt
second this.
Use 6011 rod bro i want to know in 6011
Nobody uses 6011 out here. Farmers do I suppose. I think the last time I ran 6011 I was in highschool.
45 degree rod angle really
is that wrong? I get a lazy arm and really start dropping it. lol!!
It's a roll 1G weld, basically keeping the rod in a "flat" weld position. Nothing wrong with a 45° angle.
Think it’s supposed to be O’let
where the fuck is the camera recording the weld?
Sweet video bro
I mean you said verbaly i just did hot pas but you dint video i...Come on you are the teacher I'm the student..
Yeah I didn’t edit the video but they did a good job of catching some of those arc shots and what not. What do you think?
Why didn’t you show the hot pass? Are you trying to be educational or not?
90 percent of pipeliners can only weld downhill. Give them some Ecanel or stainless in a heavy wall 6g test and watch what happens. They will FAIL!!!! No respect
Bomber one tip don't do it it's crap welding learn to weld vertical .
Hahahahaha don’t weld on a roll out wheel?? 😂 Obvious you have never used one... do you realize how much faster it is.
@@JacobSchofield the studies that the US Navy have done on down hill welds I will never do it .
Sounds good you do you. But you can use a roll out wheel for uphill as well. Tig mig stock all of it.
@@JacobSchofield sounds like what you are calling a roll out wheel I call a rotary positioner ?
Same thing. So you have used one? I don’t understand why your having an issue with it then?
