    Highly recommend a touring windshield and a extender. It makes the wind effects tolerable. I have a 2015 dct, no issue at all, 55000 kilometers and i do a solid 130 kilometer in the highway. I commute 80 kilometers every day. No issues at all, just oil change and keep going, as long you keep it well maintained, this bike will take you everywhere. Biggest con, is the fuel tank, capacity and location. Is a good solid bike.

      Thanks for mentioning that. I noticed that some mention wind protection and it's good to know that there are accessories that improve it. I'd expect that and it usually is a worthy upgrade on most motorcycles.

    I have had a Suzuki Gladius in Paris for over 8yrs. I got tired of the continuous gear shifting and decided to go for the NC. I test rode it for an hour, it felt comfortable. My bike arrives next week. Yours is the first critical review i have seen.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад +2

      And yet it doesn't mean it's not true. You're clearly into a different kind of motorcycles as Gladius is a regular naked bike that's similar in its idea to the NC. I'm into adventure motorcycles and "Honda tricked me" saying that it's an adv bike. Having this in mind, it's totally not a match. And yet it doesn't mean that if someone is looking for a naked bike replacement and likes them stiff, they won't like the NC.

      @@VToldsMotoShow ok, I understand that you are focusing more on the suspension having sufficient travel for off-road conditions.
      Update: I got my NC yesterday. It feels awesome, I sit much higher than on the Gladius, the DCT is super smooth, the bike glides through traffic. My usage will be entirely on tarmac and in congested Parisian traffic. I find the NC a wonderful package for my usage.

      Hey @@YarikSychov it's been a month since I've had the NC and I'm loving it! I sit much higher up than on the Gladius and the handlebars are wider. The DCT is so smooth, especially in the higher gears, the bike builds speed a lot faster even though it has lower power than the Gladius. I finally got the crash bars and the OEM LED accessory lights. Overall it's a lovely machine.

      Well, obviously, but this is not the point of an automatic transmission! If I wanted to manually change gears, I'd get a bike without a DCT. My reference point is Africa Twin 1100 where DCT works flawlessly and thanks to a variety of modes, is easy to quickly set the way one likes it. I'd expect the same on the NC.

      As someone who’s had a 2021 manual model since it came out, don’t. It’s a great bike. It handles exceptionally in turns despite the suspension. The problem is that it doesn’t grow with you. You’ll master the whole bike in a couple years, and you’ll want something quicker and more fun. You’ll struggle to find a Goldilocks replacement, and you can’t get more power from the bike.

      @@VToldsMotoShow If I was you I would spend more time learning the characteristics that the bike has and tame your expectations a bit. It is people who have expectations of a bike that don't match what the bike is capable of that is at the root of problems on our roads. I would also get over the fact that you think the Africa Twin does the DCT system so much better. This bike is not an Africa Twin and it is up to the rider to accept that or ride something else that is closer to what there skillset can safely handle. There are always going to be bikes that do things better than others and it is up to the rider to determine whether or not the money they spend on a bike is in line with what it costs. An Africa Twin is at a much less affordable price point than the NC Honda. The NC Honda is not supposed to be like a premium bike while the Africa Twin is aimed at a completely different type of rider. The NC Honda with DCT is more than capable of being a good bike. After that it is up to the rider to make it one.

    You forgot to talk about the User riding mode. There you can customize gearbox shift times, engine braking, traction control, also the rpm where the bike will shift. It requires advanced settings but once you set it up to your liking is brilliant.
    You didn’t show the parking brake.
    Also some of the fastest maxi scooters on the market are twice as slow as the NC.
    I pull away at all traffic lights from bigger and more powerful bikes.
    Another thing you forgot to mention is the very low fuel consumption on this bike. I get about 3-3,5 liters per 100km.

      I was almost given the impression that this reviewer has never driven a four wheeled automobile before. There is nothing inherently dangerous about the DCT system if proper care is taken to learn what the characteristics of the bike are. He makes it sound as though the bike is ready to bite you at any moment. I have been driving for close to 50 years without having caused an accident of any kind and I can say with 100 % confidence that it is the operator of the vehicle that is responsible for its safe operation and Honda wouldn't be allowed to sell these bikes if there were any real issues with the safe operation of them. I don't know about anyone else but the reviewer gave me the impression that this motorcycle might be dangerous for some people and I couldn't disagree more.

    I am 1.90 tall. A Puig touring screen and a deflector (not the Puig deflector, it cannot be raised enough) are just enough to eliminate buffing. It also protects well agains rain. But currently, in summer at 30°C, I use the standard screen for more fresh air.
    Today I was on a trip over 3 alp passes, each 2000m. The agility due to the low center of gravity makes her ideal for sharp U-Turns and quick direction changes, good torque at low revs helps accelerating out of the turns. If straights between turns are only 50m, you don't miss the high end power. I just don't rely on the automatic downshift solely. Before overtaking, I tip on the downshift button once or even twice.

    This really is a review of a rental, its pretty shallow. When you own a bike, you try to address some minor issues, over time you try all its features, try different things and see what works for you.
    A tall windscreen solves the wind issues. I think this is a great highway bike, its actually a much better Highway bike, than a lot of standard bikes out there. In the City, anything smaller and lighter would be better.
    DCT does have lot of options, Sport mode for twisties and around town, standard for mainly highway, Manual mode for when you need it. I actually switch between sport and manual modes during my commute, for when I don't need it to upshift.

    I really hate how they pretty much took every last part of the "X" namesake out of the bike. I have a 1st gen NC (back when it was a 700, not a 750). Manual transmission, no riding modes, no gear indicator, nothing (still got that sweet storage space though). It's 30mm taller than the new ones, feels a lot less "plasticy" and brittle and rides just fine. I do agree with a lot of the points made here - I had to do quite a bit of work to make it into a real do-it all machine - new suspension, crash bars, skid plate, taller windscreen with a little clip-on extention, bar risers, lower wide pegs, the list goes on. HOWEVER - after properly setting it up it's such a joy to ride. 148,000 km on the clock and the bike works like a charm!

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад +1

      Bar risers sound quite interesting along with new suspension and a fix to the wind protection - this alone could do a lot of good to both NCs clearly. Props for putting the effort into upgrading the bike. 148k kms is a very impressive number - nice! Thanks a lot for sharing!

      One can have an adventure by walking on the side walk too. Plenty of adventures in the city too, which is where I'd use the NC750X. But that's tot the point here. By placing NC750X next to Africa Twin or Transalp, Honda suggests that it's a motorcycle from an adventure segment - this is actually said by them this way. But it's not an offroad ("adventure") bike at all. So we shouldn't expect any adventure-motorcycle-like-adventures. I once took BMW R1150RT for a gravel road. Perhaps it was even more of an adventure but I would never do it again. I hope this explanation helps as it's about Honda's promise.

      @@VToldsMotoShow The thing is when you hear adventure, what do you think about? Off-road /desert? I think when motorcycle companies make an adventure bike its something for long distance (touring) that can also include some offroad even commuting etc. Kinda like an SUV. The thing is you guys take adventure to mean soley offroad and that’s the only think you think about and talk about. I dont think the africa twin is designed to be an offroad bike. It’s for long distance, comfy etc that can go offroad also. How much offroad the bikes in the adventure segment can do is what the manufacturers decided on how much they would like it to do, and they style/design it that way. The offroad segment (in Honda for example) is like the CRF line not the Africa twins.

      Funnily enough probably the biggest market for this bike is the older more experienced rider who has realised they don’t need the power and more especially the weight of bigger bikes (although relatively heavy for its size it carries it low). They realise the DCT is faster than just about any quickshifter and the not having to worry about gears gives a more relaxed ride.

Honda seems to be much more interested in offering more logical and balanced products for everyday use, with bulletproof reliability. They are different ways of looking at this motorcycle business. Is Honda wrong?. Should they offer more advanced and powerful machines in trade for reliability?. No, because that´s what Honda offers. Their position is strong in the market because reliability is a very strong selling point.

    I have a 2016 white manual. The best looking generation. This new one is ugly and very low... I love mine except for lack of top power and suspension confort... it has been all over Portugal, Picos de Europa and south of Spain. 69L of storage with just a 47L topcase! Two friends, with FJR1300 and Crosstourer 1200 traded for DCT 750X models because of agility and seeing me riding... love it on the twisties, keeps up with better Advs, but tiring on the highway. Allmost traded for a Tracer 900gt but not as good riding position. Multistrada 950/1260 very similar position. For the city my Piaggio Medley 125 is better and cooler ;) Those Dunlops are s***...

    How would you compare it with a vstrom 650. Also the suspension, which has the better suspension?

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад

      I’ve only ridden the first generation V-Strom 650 which is a very comfortable bike when it comes to suspension. I can only assume that this hasn’t changed much but I’m aware that assumptions aren’t worth much here. Knowing that the power train of a V-Stron remains largely the same, it’s not a speed demon but it’s manageable. I like comfy and so an old V-Strom 650 would likely suit me better. It’s also more composed. So if the current V-Strom is like the old one, I’d personally go for it. But today for this kind of money I’d prefer to buy a Honda Transalp 750 (“XL750 Transalp officially). That’s my very own choice though.

      On a motorway - something with good wind protection. There are true adventure motorcycles with great wind protection like a KTM 890 Adventure or a Honda Transalp 750 with a taller windshield from Honda. Or already some of the big adventure motorcycles if that's your direction in terms of style and functionality.

    many have taken the nc750 RTW style tours on and off road (GeoAlex). I do like your reviews, however i think you are very centered around engine power and gadgets - which is fine of course, but it's something limited to weekend warrioring and penis measuring. Do proper reviews for ADV bikes: Take the AT for a 5000 mile trip, report back. Take that 890R adv on the TET, let us know. Give us a report on one of the best ADV bikes on the market - Tenere 700, KLR650 etc. Anyways, keep it up.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад

      For a 5000 mile trip I’d take a Gold Wing. In fact I’d really do that in a car. The beauty of adventure motorcycles is that they are versatile so can be used in many ways and still do it fine. That’s what I value in them the most. Can almost as comfy as the said Gold Wing, almost as easy to ride as a 125cc, and almost as quick as a sports bike. SUVs on two wheels. This may also explain why we may all use them for different purposes. However, I still like to put them through their paces and try them in the most hardcore environment too, so… a city. All characteristics matter there and even the smallest differences and imperfections will quickly become visible. I get your point but I’m really not the one to sit for 5000 miles on any motorcycle as I ride mostly for the joy of it and/or to avoid traffic. So fun thanks to performance matters to me more than reliability, handling more than fuel consumption, and seat comfort more than running costs. I hope this helps in painting my perspective. All the best!

    that’s it about the positive.. on the other side- First of all kudos to Honda! What an achievement, No one could ever believe that it's possible to make a 750cc parallel twin so boring, Poor in power, Poor in torque, minimal "meaty" rev area And then there is the overall packaging of the bike, It reminds me a student that has to decide what to give up in his groceries budget, The poor breaking system (one disc in front? on 220 kilos bike?) the short unknown un adjustable 120 suspension , the scooter like 2 color dash, the un-adjustable screen, the amount of plastic on the body work, this should be in the text book of poor cheap manufacturing. If the DCT and the storage appeals to you (and I can understand why) than go ahead, If this 2 aren't so important than almost every other bike in this engine size and price will be a better choice
