First of all! Sorry about the sound of the kick drum! We’ll work on it. On the other hand, we’ve got some drum and bass duos coming in the studio next week! Any songs suggestions that would be great for BOTH instruments? Soon as I see great ones I’m deleting them🤣🤣 so they don’t see them!
@@Abington586 I know who Rush is - I've literally never heard that song before, idk what you're on I haven't listened to every top 40 hit of the last 50 years, and I'd bet most musicians are the same

lolol I appreciate the honesty with him saying he's heard it before know the band etc. but for real thought the cover is still sick as all hell dude.. the hat work during the pre-chorus and verse had me doin stank face
this channel is like the only honest one. all those other channels need to stop lying, acting like Top Singles are new to the musicians they bring on lol
The cross-over between metal drummers and gospel drummers is always good to see. As different as the styles might seem in a weird way they're similar. Power and chop driven styles.
This is even more impressive in many ways than playing something he'd never heard since he nearly NAILED every single note and captured the energy of the recording absolutely perfectly
Man I just love drummers playing songs it's not theirs: bringing the essence and all the energy, making the song refresh and amazing! Loved the video and the content!
I love this guy. I ha e known him for about 10 years or so and have had the chance to jam with him. I have also had the pleasure to just watch him rip it up and he is always phenomenal.
I remember the first time that I heard this guy play. It was at the Rock of Andrews with A Place Past Hope. To this day, one of the best drummers I have had the privilege of hearing live! Glad to see he is still playing!
i love that even though he knew the song you still let him do it, and I can't wait to see what he does for the other song! This content is incredible, thank you so much for producing this stuff, man.
The fact that dude played this song to that quality, speed and wit those fills without even breaking a sweat is complete insanity. I played this song basic as basic could be when I was playing and lord would I be drenched thru the 2nd vrs
I love these videos so far, I don't know what I was doing before without them. If y'all take requests, there's this indie-ish band called PUP that has some good and tricky songs that are a little between Poppy and Metal, but honestly I just need more of this.
I don't think that there's something wrong about playing familiar stuff. All of us want to come up with some crazy ideas but it's not possible when you hear song for the first time unless you are Larnell Lewis. I like practicing my own versions, it's good that I have a basis, not only the pulse but arrangements and orchestration. Some songs need to be done live at least live drums, you must be crazy to argue with a point that not only the ideas matter - the groove itself, I mean all of us play the same thing differently and I was so happy watching this guy due to his timing. You know, these spaces between us, kidding, spaces between notes. That's amazing and the song has a different vibe.
Relaxed...great sound..and he know those accents.. and he puts more in to it. Man that was tasty.... As he knew the song... he knows then how he will play it. Thanks mate 🎖🤜🏾🤛🏾🦾🍀🍾
This guy has amazing timing and chops!!Continue the good work!!He did it better than the original!!!I can't believe he listen it for a first time, it's impossible to play it like this and didn't listen it just for 5 times or more!!
It's almost like just cuz they're Christian doesn't eradicate the notion they can have skill. This whole vid gives me "Drumeo" vibes and I am all for it!
Awesome!! Jonathan absolutely killed it! I'd like to hear some of your gospel folks take on "Over My Head" by King's X. That's basically a gospel-inspired rock tune with a bunch of cool parts and even a short drop out section that would be cool to see how they fill it. Would work for just drums, or a drum & bass duo.
The thing I love here, the thing I LOVE, is that he knew where to go the fuck off and when to reign it in so it didn't feel like some metal drummer just coming in and completely overplaying it. That was excellent. Those kicks need to be tuned tho they sound way too triggered

yyz - rush
Honestly, it's a long shot but Smells Like Teen Spirit/Come As You Are by Nirvana or The Pretender - Foo Fighters
Laid to rest by Lamb of God
Polyphia- ABC would be a cool song or playing god

i'm convinced these christian/gospel drummers can play anything
Power of the Lawd!
Yess
christian/gospel/PROG
When I played live in our band we had a church drummer. I got him with my metal influence and he absolutely cooked at the live shows
Some of them are sick
Refreshing to hear someone admit they actually have heard the song before.
Well if they never heard the song why would they tell you they heard it? Why would the famous drummers on drumeo need to lie?
Some people are deep into their musical niches. I heard “somebody that you used to know” for the first time this year *shrug* for example
This guy is ridiculous. Not shocked at all he plays in a prog metal band.
Prog metal is the best metal
Shame they share a link to it
daaaang I used to listen to your stuff all the time back when I played League, you're so talented
We are blessed to have Jon in the band! Dude is a monster and contributes so much. Check out his drum solo on our song “Fatherless”.
Yo hit us up Ninevehs Garden we are out of Athens !
Happy to discover a new band through this. I play in a thrash band and yall are definitely getting a new follower for this. Amazing drumming
Checked out the song, added it to my Apple Music. ❤🤘🏽
I can tell that Jonathan is very comfortable with this style. He sounded really good.
Yes
I'm a simple man. I see System of a Down, I click the like button.
Same here... 😂😂😂😂
Hello. My fellow simpleton. You are not alone.
Same
Damn. Those drums sound so CLEAN! Mad props to the sound engineer. The toms sound so dope and clear too.
It’s fine, I prefer the honesty of him saying he knows the song.
I was one of the people who begged y’all to have someone play this and I am NOT disappointed!!! ❤ simply fantastic!
Glad he didn't fake not knowing the song or something. Thanks for video, love what you guys doing.
right? sometimes it's really ridiculous like "who? Beatles? never heard of them🤷"
Right? Not like some other channels that are like "Limelight by Rush? Never heard of it"

You can tell the man also plays in a progressive metal band. Those massive fills are very very nice!!! Nicely done!!!!
Can tell by the way he works those hats too!
As a progressive metal drummer myself (as well as a wanna be gospel drummer) this take on this track is AWESOME!!!!!

well this could become a whole new section, the drummer knows the song but he hasn't played it before. That works for most of us!
Great content!
Dude absolutely crushed it holy shit

This Brother is a BEAST!! Greetings from Argentina.
Awesome..you could tell he knew the feel of the song if not the exact drum part..he improvised well..and his chops are epic
More chops than Ric Flair, my goodness. So well done!
I have chills .. dang this was so epically phenomenal !!! I want to go home and play NOW!!! love this channel!!
I believe there were a couple of time he tripped up but he crushed it. He played his own style but still stayed true to the song.
gospel musicians are on a whole different level man... and this dude plays prog metal too. beast
those ghost notes brought it to a new level... sick!

The snap of this drum kit, plus his chops is pretty sweet
Gospel chops are just something else aren't they? Awesome playthrough.
Grats on getting to this song 2 weeks before Drumeo! Very cool to hear two new takes on a great song.
