"Please be polite. The other vegan was polite to me and I didn't become a vegan so his approach didn't work on me and I would like to keep not being a vegan. Ok?" Lol
I think it's important to be polite with other people even if they don't think like you.
Laurent Faurite this has nothing g to do with politeness. Joey was simply stating the truth. Nothing impolite about that. The older gentleman didn’t like to hear the truth and about being accountable for his actions. @@brierobinson194 If you were an animal you wouldn't have the capacity to think that.
Getting speciesists to admit they're speciesist is really hard. It took me 30 years. Now I'm 2 years vegan, and I'm never going back to justifying animal abuse.
@Star of Europa Of welcome back. Is this a kind of hobby of yours? Coming to vegan videos and "argue"? I sense some kind of underlying guilt here :)))
Celeste Kristan Thank you!
@Star of Europa Haha every single word in the dictionary is a made up word. You aren't very bright are you mate? :)
I have no problem to admit I am speciesist
@@richiedaly87 nah. Speciesism is more for discrimination based on species. Vegans aren't discriminating, they are trying to preserve the animal life.
Actually I can say that I hold a lot of POS humans lower than animals so maybe thats discrimination LOL (sarcasm)

"You pay people to stab and torture animals."
"Yeah, but I'd rather they didn't."
Then don't pay for it man????? no logic
@Michael Gamble What an incredibly violent world you are advocating for. 8 billion people, out hunting and killing. None of that is necessary. We're in 2020, can we agree that violence is not the answer?
@Michael Gamble Maybe we can get that grounding from foraging for wild plants, which we have been doing for longer. It's pretty sick to think it's "beautiful" to kill an animal. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "respect" but that's not the way I use that word. I hope you never respect me.
The disconnect is strong with this one.
@@fearofaveganplanet8513 was going to say exactly this. Dont need to be tracking to kill these amazing creatures to be in touch with nature... foraging is just as, if not more interesting.
@Michael Gamble sure man, I'm very much against the current plant-ag industry methods too. Problem is, the people running plant-ag aren't vegan either so they don't care about all the pesticides and fertilisers and crop-deaths. Veganic farming, vertical farms, polyculture gardens - all hold incredible amount of potential.

@@mcsplinxz9668 So why won't YOU stop being an animal abuser and go vegan? Because "Africa tho"?

BTW many crops grown in poor countries are used for animal feed in richer countries. If people who can go vegan right now did it, then without billions of animals to feed for your stakes, there would be enough crops to feed everybody in the world.

Business pamm you can have your opinion. You might be surprised to know that this kind of ‘no bs’ activism works too, arguably even better. The man that sat down did so with no intention to talk about the animals that he and 99% of humans eat daily, but instead to continue derailing the conversation about a sea booger that has no brain, central nervous system or sign of sentience(not to mention that he probably only eats occasionally). Look Joey goes rough these days again, but he is on the top of his game, because he does not talking to the person you see in his crossfire of questions, but everyone else. Making a point to the listener. So we won't go to the abuser side because we will face some harshness. It is not nice what we do them. It is easy to admit. In fact it is frikkin cruel! And it seems like it is unnecessary so why do we do that? Why do we pretend that it is OK for so many to do it when it is not? It is still cruel. The merciless behaviour does not go away, even if we would've come up with a sophisticated neuro sciensce trap - but he was miles away from being a threat to the ethical issues.

"I care about the animals. I don't care about your health." Pretty much sums it up.
"I had a long discussion with a much more polite young man".
Then he came here to still argue for animal abuse. What other proof do we need of the ineffectiveness of trying to please humans in conversations on animal rights?
He said he owned a cat! When he said a cow isn't someone I would have brought up his cat right then. He sees his cat as a someone. I can guarantee he named his cat. If his cat is a someone, how erroneously hypocritical is it to then consider other mammals (that are actually closer cousins to us like cows and pigs) and consider them less than individual someone's? His cat has a backbone. Why does he choose to have cats as pets instead of flippen oysters!?! Cognitive Dissonance runs deep for this one!
I think that an animal is not someone but something but I think that for a pet owner his pet is closer to someone than to something.
Cows are not pets, that's why all non vegans consider them something.
@@laurentfaurite8660 having an animal as a pet doesn't change the potential to be "someone". If your cat was a wild cat it's still the same animal with the same personalality, because it's under the care of a human that doesn't automatically grant it anthropomorphic traits all of sudden, it's still the same cat he's always been, always an individual with their own personality and desires, a someone. An inanimate object is a thing, an animal has a consciousness that has every emotion humans do. A cow can be made a pet, a horse, snake or even a goat can be a pet, I've seen alligators and hippos as parts of people's family, they can easily be considered a someone. Because a group of people are uneducated about animals, and are too stupid to realise they are all very smart creature's, that doesn't inherently change what that are. If you don't think they are a someone, your ignorance doesn't change that, it actually means nothing.
It's because he worked in a slaughterhouse. He can't see cows as someone or else he'd have to admit he was murderer.

Love you brother and your approach. The truth always hurts the ones who don’t want to know about it.
Thank you for speaking up for the victims.
Joe your an absolute legend mate! Love your vids. Your debates are amazing! Keep doing what you do. Love your stuff.
Joey, you did so great on this video, I really want to thank you for showing us how to handle this kind of interaction, I have learned so many things, in fact I will watch it again and will take some notes, thank you man
taking notes from this? a man who kept deflecting a topic that would have brought up points and facts? you do you man.
"I'm not contradicting myself in my own moral framework"
😅
It's correct.
@@laurentfaurite8660 He said "they shouldn't be treated cruelly". He agreed the practices on the screen were cruel. He used to work in an abattoir, so he knew what paying for meat entailed. He didn't have a problem with paying for meat. How is this not a contradiction? "They shouldn't be treated cruelly; I'll pay for them to be treated cruelly" - a clear contradiction.
@@fearofaveganplanet8513 OK, i didn't hear this part of the video.
@@fearofaveganplanet8513
No, it's not a contradiction.
The term "should" refers to it being a better situation if it didn't happen. However, "Should" does not necessarily reach the level of a moral obligation. Someone could say that we should give money to charity. That doesn't mean you are obligated to give money to charity. It just means it'd be a good thing that should be promoted.
If he is saying that they shouldn't be treated cruelly in a morally virtuous sense(NOT a moral obligation sense), then there is no contradiction because contradictions in principles regarding moral theories only exist in relation to moral obligations, as moral obligations are things you MUST do under a specific moral system, whereas moral virtues are not things you MUST do. Get it?
Now, he may mean should in the moral obligation sense, but what you have presented doesn't demonstrate this.
@@franklance9167 Asking people to give money to charity and asking people to stop paying for animal cruelty are not morally comparible. When there's a victim involved, should consumption be a personal choice? You wouldn't buy shoes you knew were produced by underpaid children would you? So, why buy food that an animal had to die for When it isn't necessary? Why buy food that an animal was sexually abused for? Cruelty is cruelty and abuse is abuse no matter the species. To think otherwise is to be speciesist. What do you contribute that makes you better than any other species on this planet? Get it?
Joey you’re a great person for the animals they appreciate you, as does the AR community!
Awesome!
Thanks Joey! Continue your “style” of activism. Been watching you for a long time and agree with being direct, and stand up for the animals- *selflessly*. Cheers mate!
Awesome vid . Watched every moment, always do. Your approach is the only way. Eye of the Tiger, Joey.
11:38 BOOM!! Well said, Joey 👏👏
You have to show the kind of strength you're showing to make people re-think what they've been taught their entire lives. I really appreciate what you're doing and I plan to do it too very soon. I just hope you don't let these idiots frustrate you too much because they're a dying breed. People are changing their views, now more than ever before. Keep it up Joey!
Very well done Joey. Thank you
I’m sure he will enjoy his heart disease too shortly.
So his cat has a greater right to live that cows or pigs????
Yes.
No proof of heart disease
He didn't kill cats in the slaughterhouse he worked in. If he had then they'd be fair game.
@@laurentfaurite8660 Cats have more right to live than anti-vegan trolls like you
@@veganizeeverything2769 I am not a troll.
I just give my opinion.
Dude, go home! He didn't sit down to have an open, constructive and logical debate in the first place.
I love the contrast between Joey and Ed, they're both great and make people see the truth, just by different ways. Two icons, thank you so much for all you do for animals
@12:14 "I don't spend my time being consciousness." What?! Lol.
Hmmmm oysters tho...
It’s important to have empathy for people like this, most of us used to be just like them.
Yes but if you ever compared yourself to a lion or animals are here for us then you need to be held accountable.
Arthritis to Athlete I have empathy for the animals he abuses.
Empathy for someone who knew all about the abuse from working in a slaughterhouse? He was not even prepared to listen. Most of us may have eaten animals once but i was certainly never so closed minded and self righteous as this person.
that microphone drop @ the end of you outro was fire.
Well done Joey for the amazing patience. I don't know how you managed to keep your cool with this guy, I struggled to get to the end of this video because I was getting more and more frustrated listening to him going around in circles fully convinced he had it all figured out while refusing to truly answer any of your questions. One of the most frustrating debates to watch, but it's made me appreciate your work even more.
