      is dis comparing livestock to humans is a false equivalence because they cannot think like us etc. So to try to put a human perspective on say, a cow, is a false equivalence. The worse example I’ve seen vegans make is the ‘rape’ argument. Animals don’t have the same views about mating as people do about sex. If you AI a cow, it won’t affect them in the same way as if you violate a child because the child will grow up and realize what was done to them and will suffer serious psychological trauma.

What we want to eat is our choice and how we gain nutrition for our body is our choice. Veganism attempts to remove that very choice. We have the right to choose what we want to eat and not eat, and we violate other human beings rights when we attempt to stop them from eating what they want to eat. Joey the only answer to moral question:
    Morals arise from the avoidance of suffering of sentient beings. Morals are NOT subjective and do NOT change with time.
    Explanation: we morally think murder is wrong because there is a victim. We morally think rape is wrong because there is a victim.
    A plane crash survivor is morally wrong to kill another person to survive but is JUSTIFIED to do so, otherwise they would not survive.
    Slavery you was/is wrong because there is a victim
    I'm short ALL morals arise by asking the question, is there a conscious, sentient victim?, if yes, it is morally wrong, no matter what period or circumstance you find yourself in in the past or present the act is wrong if the victim suffers. End of story

    • @nettle8605
      @nettle8605 4 года назад

      I agree with everything, but I’m struggling to understand your example: How is it morally justifiable for a plane crash survivor to kill another plane crash survivor?

    • @nettle8605
      @nettle8605 4 года назад

      Like, how can it be morally wrong, but morally justifiable at the same time?

    • @user-sl8gg2zk3g
      @user-sl8gg2zk3g 4 года назад

      Nettle Yeah I meant to kill and eat the other person, In order for you to survive. It is justifiable because you would have died without doing so, however the act is still morally wrong and should be avoided if not in a survival situation.
      It is often said that we can't hold the Aztecs, for example , morally culpable for human sacrifices, because they had different morals. However that is wrong. We had the same morals yet a justification was made to act against them. Any direct action that causes suffering and pain to other sentient beings has been and will always be immoral, because that is the origin of all morals

    • @nettle8605
      @nettle8605 4 года назад +1

      sam smith But if you can justify an action, does it not make that action either morally right or at least neutral? How can something be morally wrong if it is morally justifiable? An example: Pushing a child is not morally wrong if your intention is to prevent them from being hit by a bus. Wouldn’t you agree? Or would you still consider the act (of pushing, in this case) morally wrong despite the outcome?

    • @user-sl8gg2zk3g
      @user-sl8gg2zk3g 4 года назад

      Nettle Yes the act is morally wrong if the child suffers as a result of your action, however as said there is justification for taking that action, I.e saving the child's life. The next question is what is suffering, I think you have to grade suffering and take precedent over which one is worse,e.g. Killing is the worst, then sustained torture etc, these are all based on negative long term outcome.
      Side note, I really like the way you reply and respond, it is a clear you are very openminded and well versed in debating and actually want to understand ideas, really refreshing

    13:00 why is Joey arguing over the environmental impact and land requirements of a vegan diet vs an omnivorous diet? It's a known thing now. The science is done. For example, if the US went vegan they could feed everyone on about 20% of the land currently used for farming. www.elementascience.org/articles/10.12952/journal.elementa.000116/
    Globally, Livestock farming uses 77% of land and produces 17% of calories.
    It's a done deal. We could easily feed the world with a vegan diet and we would reduce our land use for farming by about 2/3s. That's an area about 2.5 times the size of the USA.
    ourworldindata.org/land-use
    I hope Joey will get these facts memorised for next time. 👍

    • @michaelrch
      @michaelrch 4 года назад +3

      Kuusakat_
      Yes, I came to a plant-based diet almost entirely for environmental reasons. It's such a slam dunk of empirical evidence that there is no come back for farming livestock - certainly at anything but a tiny scale on marginal land.
      The actual step to veganism came later for me. It's a trivial step once the cognitive dissonance of wanting to eat meat and dairy is out of the way.
      I think it helps to have all three arguments ready to go - ethics, the environment and health.
      As soon as you win over someone on one of these arguments, they will likely accept the other two.

      @Summer Ray Oh so people are eating far more meat (you said they were eating less) and far more grains and sugar too? Of course you go directly to the source for your meat. Every single meat eater does it seems. A whole food plant based diet is the only diet PROVEN to reverse heart disease. That is all the evidence needed to prove you wrong. A new study came out only last week that confirms 100% the link between saturated fat and heart disease. I myself am now completely free of medication after dropping animal products from my diet. You can carry on posting as it's great for Joey's channel but you will NEVER EVER convince me Summer Ray (or whatever your name is today) of anything but that my decision to become vegan was 100 percent the correct one. To be fair I had seen animals being killed for food many years before I wen't vegan. For some reason I didn't make the connection back then. Even if you KNOW you might still need something else to flip that switch in your head

    13:10
    Bogus excuse from the carnist.
    Joey's absolutely right, animal farming takes up 83% of the world’s agricultural land, but delivers only 18% of our calories. A plant-based diet cuts the use of land by 76% and halves the greenhouse gases and other pollution that are caused by food production. And yes, meat is nowhere near as calorie dense as grains.

    How interesting people make a conversation, by being ignored instead of being vegan.
    We all need to change lifestyle and improve our habits for the sake of ourselves and especially future generations.
    Amazing work Mr. Carbstrong Thank You for all your effort and hard work witht the team!

    Joey; please share this with your fellow activists.
    I’m a Christian and listen to a lot of apologists, one guy has an interesting angle and I think you could use this on the occasions when you get a person who will just argue and not listen.
    His name is Greg Koukl and he says evangelism is looked at as a “Harvest” and is all based on bringing as many people to faith as possible. Some preachers are brilliant at it and bring thousands to Christ at a time but that puts a lot of pressure on the rest as the other preachers and apologists feel they have to be just as good.
    Greg had an epiphany one day and realised that any “Harvest” requires quite a team to be successful; there’s a whole number of people involved but it’s only part of the story.
    Before the grain can be cut it has to grow and that means someone has to prepare the ground, level it, plough it and fertilise it. Someone else has to sow the seeds and water them in, tend to the weeds and nurture the plants. Then they all have to wait until the grain is ready. Only after all this work, effort and patience is the Harvest possible.
    Greg Koukl says he’s identified himself as a gardener not a harvester and it has come as such a relief.
    The point of telling you this is for those times when you reach an impasse with someone who belligerently will not listen and just keeps on spouting all that same crap over and over again. Maybe you can console yourself in the realisation that they are just not ready to listen and you have to settle with sowing seeds and letting someone else do the watering for a while.
    Greg Koukl says “I’m not going to try converting you, (big laugh) I just want to put a stone in your shoe!” He wants his audience to go away with questions and seek out their own answers over time.
    Thanks for all you and the guys are doing Joey. Much love 😉🇬🇧🌱

    I’ve had a friend who had these arguments with me over and over. I was on this guy’s side, she was in Joey’s. I feel ashamed watching stuff like this as it really reminds me of what I must’ve used to look like defending this thing “the density though ... I need it for my exercise though... but the lions in the wild”. To make this even more ironic, and shameful to me at the same time, this girl went back to eating meat and I became vegan about 2 years ago because of Joey’s videos. I hope she didn’t go back to meat because of me. Now we actually have these conversations backwards, and we both keep telling each other “tell that to your 2 years ago self”. Thanks Joey.
