    Brilliant rusteration really enjoy watching it come back together, I must really invest in a stretcher and shrinker, they save so much time, and I'm always amazed how tidy your work station is, many thanks Alan

      Thank you Eddie , this video was particularly hard as the weld is always messy due to the weld location and the temp we have to run the welder at :)

    That piece at 4:30:
    I would suggest glue to adhere those kind of patches in order to avoid rust.

    You are doing such great work with steel and after that you spoiled it by lap welds....dont say its cheap restoration, it doesnt take so much work....and you are doing great work. Dont spoil it by lap welds and taky 5 minutes more to do but welds....its crazy how to downgrade such good job!

    Why lap weld instead of butt welding ?

      if you watch the full series you will see these are budget repairs and how to possibly do it yourself with little skill, these are only mot repairs not a restoration, we do mention this from time to time during our videos :)
      butt welding takes more skill and is beyond most who only have a little skill and also costs more and this is on a very tight budget :)

      That silver spray is weld thru primer i guess, in my country those arent available so i use zinc spray and i hope those are the same thing?

    • @KineticLatency
      @KineticLatency 2 года назад +1

      @@ivanfilipovic3296 yeah it's basically a spray primer with a high zinc content

      @@yorkshirecarrestoration Budget is not the answer....but welding will be a liitle bit of work extra and if you are working like you do, is pitty to spoil your work by lap welds...Lap welds is only hiding the problem to later....sorry, but its true...the lap welds are very pitty

    Why can’t you weld aluminium to steel?

  • @Axbear
    @Axbear 2 года назад +3

    No actual repair. Just cover the rust with sheet metal, creating pockets in the backsides for rust to continuing its work.

      Doesn’t make that much difference the way I see it, most of the car is lap welded together in the first place and no zinc primer between the joints!

      I agree with you. Always amazing to see almost only positive comments under videos with sloppy work.
      He already built a repair panel. Can't understand why not cut out the rotten panel and weld in the new one.
