    8:20 THEVIES! Escondido has almost zero bike racks, but most times you can find something. First week of riding my E-bike, I went to Arby's and had NOTHING to lock too. Parked it at the door went in, kept my eye on it till I ordered and paid, turned around and it was gone. Lucky I locked the battery so guy didn't have power, he put it in a dumpster in back of shopping center to get later. It's also bright orange which may have helped. So yeah LOCK your bike, get a tracker as well.

    1600 miles here, I had a similar overheating issue and I added 2x80mm USB-powered fans one under the controller and one sucking in air. The last 2-3 rides I haven't overheated again. My temps are easily 15' cooler. I also swapped over to a SurRon throttle so I could have conventional dirt bike grips.

      I have the 15k motor and did a 15mi ride the other day and I believe my controller cut out to protect itself multiple times. Do you have any photos of how or where exactly you installed your fans??

    • @samjohnson517
      @samjohnson517  Год назад +1

      I do not use fans I do have cutouts in the side panels for air to the controller but that's it

    • @tacticooldennis
      @tacticooldennis Год назад

      @@_Listen2Learn I made a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/ireq6uGseVQ/видео.html It really depends on where your controller is mounted. My controller sits above the battery, and that was the only spot with enough room for a fan. Personally I think the top of the frame would be a good place too. but I have a extra seat on there for my Daughter.

    3:30 I'm with you there. Have a "radwagon" cargo bike, I'm 6'2" and even on large frame they made long seat post at angle to cover lots of heights of people. Which means ever bump your torqueing the connection on downtube. After several hundred miles "snap!" aftermarket tubes are a joke, after 2nd time I epoxied a case hardened steel rod inside, 5000+miles later no issues. EV bike makers, at least in USA, build bikes way to light. Standard spokes and wheels that when attached to a motor will start breaking spokes unless you constantly check. Why do you have to constantly check? Because you ride EV bikes way more. Non-powered bikes were often ridden either once a week or maybe 3 miles if your a kid going to school. So maintenance was need every few months. I put on thousands of miles a year, that requires a lot of work. Need to start using Honda 90 motorbike parts for durability. Motorcycle tires cost no more than bike tires, but last thousands miles longer. Industry doesn't want to change. they are making the $$$

    my seat post bolt broke going 50 km (31 mph) ... the seat fell onto the tire before I did thankfully. Still got some roadrash.
    now that bolt is drilled out to a gr8 3/8 and 2 gear clamps are wrapped around the entire assembly lol.

    This was super informative! I like the idea of an Enduro, but I feel like id definitely build it as a dirt bike rather than a commuter/street. Would you ever consider building an Electric Motorcycle? I've been really digging the EVader (just a Honda Grom but turned electric) but the power is so low. Looking at building one from the ground up.

    Hey! How much of an issue was overheating because I see you made 2 gaps on both sides to cool the controller. I live in NY so the weather isn't very warm when it isn't summer so I don't know if that will be an issue. Is it usually warm where you live?

    • @samjohnson517
      @samjohnson517  5 дней назад

      @@hec8049 it was not much of an issue, maybe on some really hot days or a lot of hill climbs or constant high speed riding , but the slots I made definitely helped keep the controller cooler. I live in Southern California so it does get hot here in the summer.

    Hey my friend, my name is Shaun. I live in Simi Valley. I have the same bike wondering is there a way to fix a flat back tire without having to disconnect the cable from the battery or controller?

    • @samjohnson517
      @samjohnson517  4 месяца назад

      Absolutely so long as the cable is long enough, it should be zip tied to the swing arm,you have to cut the zip ties that should give you enough cable, just remove the rim and lay it down next to the bike and change the tire from the non-wire side.
