    My mom's family came from Arkansas and we lived in Texas. Chocolate Gravy with Biscuits was a once a year treat we got when all the kinfolk got together. My hubby didn't care for it because he doesn't like sweets at breakfast but I carry on the tradition with my kids. At least I did til keto. Looking forward to trying this to keep on keeping on.

    When I was a kid I couldn't wait to go stay the night with my Great Aunt. She used to make "cocoa gravy" as she called it in her southern accent. It was always my breakfast request when we would come to visit her. She used bacon drippings as the base also. OMG. You got to have the bacon! I don't think you can get more Southern than that. Brings back comforting memories. Thanks for the recipe. I think you could use Carb-Quick as your flour if you want to go dirty or low-carb. I might use Fairlife milk and nut milk mix and skip the cream because of the risk of separation. Man, Looks good! Thanks for sharing!

    Wow! I had no idea there were American folk who did this. My mom used to make a sort of warm chocolate pudding that she poured over chunks of Italian bread as an occasional weekend treat. She didn't make a roux, but would essentially thicken hot chocolate with cornstarch (I think?). She's Mexican, so more of a thicker champurrado (thick Mexican hot chocolate), but I think she was also inspired by something she had when we were in Spain visiting my dad's family. Who knew it was a thing here??

      I guess it depends on how you look at it. With the discount code, it comes out to $1.70 per serving. Which is much less than a can of soda from a machine or a cup of coffee or tea from a coffee stand, but much higher quality with 10 organic superfoods.

    • @HighfalutinLowCarb
      @HighfalutinLowCarb  4 месяца назад

      It might, but you don’t want it too thick. It needs to “pour” like a gravy or sauce. The consistency in the video is exactly how it’s traditionally served. :-)

      @@HighfalutinLowCarb it's just a weird word "gravy" - for me it's automatically associated with gravy (sauce) that's used for meat. Looking at the ingredients I'm sure it's delicious - just the name is off-putting. Don't ask me - brains are wired differently sometimes I guess. Probably has something to do with me not being native.
      To clarify: It sounds disgusting (the name), the recipe itself looks delicious.
