Kricketune has always been my least favorite Pokémon he honestly used to scare me when I was little but when I saw that alpha I freaked out and wanted to catch it immediately lmao
Honestly my biggest gripe with this game is that there's no way to go into the other zones without going back to the village first. I love everything else. And not being able to fly up with braviary.
I don’t think he’s doing that for content. He’s already beat the game. He’s going for 100% (on a second playthrough) Wants to 100% each area at a time, as early as possible. But of course he’s going to make content as well, because in order for him to do this he has to look up TONS of information for himself, so it also makes it much easier to make a video guide of as well. So he’s catching two starly with one pokeball.

By far my favorite part of this game is the core focus of the pokedex. It's basic. It's simple. Also. Completing it basically forces you to physically fight with and play with every single different pokemon in the dex.
That's what I love about this game too! I have always felt that I would much rather be a Pokemon Professor than a Pokemon champion so having a game where the main focus is learning about pokemon and recording that information into a pokedex rather than becoming a champion again is like a dream come true for me.

I just beat the main story. Credits are rolling. Started playing 5 days ago. Play time 63:50 (I leave my game open with the switch in sleep mode though a lot, so I’m not sure that’s accurate) Ended with a 9 star ranking, Pokedex; 195 seen, 178 caught. 12 shinies, about 90 alphas. And I’ve taken more captures in this game than in all other switch games combined. Say what you will about the graphics, the world is still beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. And I can’t wait to finish my dex, catch the remaining unown, and find the wisps. And then probably immediately start a second run. Got some shinies to hunt too! So far only found sneasler, wyrdeer and liligant of the new Pokémon as shinies.
Oh my god no way, i got 2 Grotle’s at the pond literally an hour ago, and one of them were an Alpha, how lucky is that?! Great video as always! Looking forward to more content :)
For anyone that's still looking for a Togepi, your chances are likely better at the Cobalt Coastlands. I've seen them spawn there more frequently and even have seen 2 spawn at once.

Wow, Alpha Grotle was how rare?! I found that and Turtwig together first try. yo austin i wanted to point this out cause nobody seems to notice you can see your eyes in the climbing pokemons backpack and i thought that was just the best
Not sure if it's known but you can also get into the Holm of trials before basculegion. On the south side of the sludge mound there's a medium sized rock with a breakable ore spawn, if you dash on wyrdeer and jump right at the edge you can float onto the shore and theres an alpha sligoo that is lvl 50 and can evolve immediately in the rain to goodra, and theres a very high level alpha torterra, makes it a little easier than farming for the alpha grotle. Your videos have been amazing. Thank you so much for creating this helpful content. I loved your video for the Obsidian Fields and had been holding out for this one. Keep up the great work.
Trying to do the flying ones with stick drift is a mission that only the strong can handle
I appreciate that you mention when you take the pictures of the thumbnails
thank u so much for showing where bonsley is not even liying i have been looking for bonsley for two days before i was scrolling on yt and found this vid thank u
Hello Austin! I'm sure you know this but on the map you dont have to jump from the middle to the east side to access that side! You can also go around at the top!
the first time I encountered a Togepi, there was an alpha Haunter in the flowers. I was still early-game, so you can imagine how well that went
I would personally like to see a guide on how most efficiently organize your boxes. I have trouble moving things around and it feels like it’s the only thing in the game that missed a quality of life touch.
You are honestly the most helpful Pokémon youtuber
yo austin i wanted to point this out cause nobody seems to notice you can see your eyes in the climbing pokemons backpack and i thought that was just the best
Thank You! I was looking for some of these, very helpful.
Great video as always man!
Those pokemon are not rare by any means as they're almost always there, but being able to get into that area is a game changer early game
as someone who completes the game as triumphant and fast as possible, i have to say i thoroughly enjoy how you play the game and share. thank you
I actually encountered a Bonsly in the ores around the Rhyhorn area, really shocked me because I hadn't even seen Sudowoodo yet
8:00 "Togepiss"
"Toge-piss" LMAO🤣💀 (for now on I'm naming ALL my male Togekisses that nickname all thanks to Austin John Plays since I usually name my Togepis' "Party Hat"🔥💯)
Was completely unprepared to see him clock the ever-loving piss out of the back of that poor Sudowoodo's head
8:00 Curse you John... Now I'm getting the name wrong. Thanks for giving my dyslexic brain another softlock to be careful of when trying to remember these Pokemon. Also, thanks for a new nickname I can give my shiny Togepiss and the desire to make it learn all water attacks.
Even in post game these videos have HELPED so so much thank you my dude!!
Cool how there is just a group of us pretty much playing the game together (according to Austin John's uploads).
I was heading towards the Turtwig area, when I had seen a tree shaking. I caught an Alpha Vespiquen, so that was a nice find. I also just found a shiny Whiscash in the water.
I went to find togepi and then found out alpha vespiqueen can leap from trees-
Your videos have been very helpful and entertaining. You just got yourself a new subscriber! Good luck hitting 2 mil.
11:48 I've caught two Bonsly that leapt out of ore deposits in the Crimson Mirelands near where that Alpha Rhyhorn is.
Austin I love the pace you are going at with the videos i am legit right with you so no spoilers it's awesome thank you for all you do.
Every time you put a video out, its like we're at the same spot haha this game is too much fun, and i get distracted so much. My OCD kicks in and i HAVE to finish the pokedex for an area before i move on. Now barely in 3rd area with about 40hrs played and 9th star members haha Thank you for these vids, time to head back and finish the last bit
Friggin Bonsley tried to throw hands (I guess head in this case lmao) then ran away but fell asleep right after. Totally a baby Pokemon lmao
Thank you for all the amazing guides!
Just subbed, awesome content dude 😁
"By the way, I am going to make a full wisp guide" THANK GOD, thank you so much I was waiting for those words!!!! You're videos are always my go to, thank you for all your work!!!
Bonsly can be found popping out of ore deposits around the Crimson Mirelands. Got a random alpha like that, my first Bonsly encounter in the game.
I found Turtwig by accident, and dint even realize it at the time but when I evolved him I realized, it was a shiny turtwig
Your many attempts at finding Togepi was a mood for finding rare spawns in general. Togepi was like the one rare spawn I wasn’t looking for at all and just so happened to find my first time in that area. Haven’t seen another one since though XD
Really? I swear sometimes there were multiple togepi there. Was lucky in the Island/Beach area too. First time there had an island with both togekiss and togepi. Togekiss didn't spawn there since though.
This is some very helpful info. Though one thing about this vid is bothering me. What's that music you used at 16:19?
I love the way you said grotle in a proper south east England accent. Spot on sir
Oh, I had a feeling that the Solaceon ruins had something more important to do in this game, I'm glad that they do. Thanks for that information.
Noone:
Sudowoodo: "Paint me like one of your french girls."
Right after watching this I came out of a distortion in that maze and waiting for me at the pond was a grotle.
